Last Sunday, my Japanese friend had to leave her student life behind and move from my city to the capital to start working in the Japanese Embassy. I was having the worst lows of lows mentally and i'd been working on this for days, and with work and all it never even came out as i wanted it to... some process pics (i like the pre-sketch better OTL), cause i combined watercolor with color pencils for the first time. Let’s change it up and spit some truth and hard history. Here is Athena in front of The White Tower in Thessanoliki. It was built in the 15th century during the Ottoman Empire and was a prison, torture chamber and place for executions. Previously the tower was called the “Tower of Blood" or "Red Tower". You can guess why. After Thessanoliki was freed from the Ottoman Empire, it was painted white as a symbolic gesture for a new beginning. In present times, it is a museum and cultural center. I actually don’t enter places where there’s been torture or death, I really don’t like the energy. For example, when I went to the 9/11 memorial in NYC many years ago, I immediately started crying and felt pure sadness and despair. Even thinking about it makes my eyes water. So after that, I don’t put myself through those experiences. Some of you kind people and my best friend warned me about the news going on between Russia and Ukraine and warned me from traveling there. All I can think about is when will people ever learn? It makes me sad in this day and age with all our advanced technology, gadgets, breakthroughs in science, war is still a thing. I feel like 95% of the world is just normal hardworking people and are just trying to survive, it’s just the super powers and governments trying to soothe their ego and need more and more power. Does anyone else get what I mean or am I just crazy?
