🗣️🗣️ no time like the present to get writing!! (coming from someone who.. also.. should be writing..)
but i'd like to hear more about the wolfshifter au idea if you don't mind!! very intriguing stuff
Thank you for the ask, my friend! Now that you have summoned every thought, here is a dump of the wolfshifter au!!!
So, for starters: The MacTavish family and their history of caring for wolfshifters. Since the discovery of wolfshifters about a century ago, there's been a huge stigma against them in the broad scope of modern society. Something about them never really being "human" and are typically reduced to nothing but savage beasts. But Scotland, having a high focus on herding, accepts the wolfshifter population the best. They're not exactly buddy buddy with them, but most wolfshifters find easy work doing stuff for farmers and whatnot. Granted, most of their jobs are like "guard dog" sorts of jobs, but hey, in a world where it's really common for wolves to be fired, refused a job, evicted, etc. just for being a wolf, work is work.
Then came along Great-great Grandma MacTavish. Something happened with her husband and somehow, a wolfshifter was the one to provide the best support for the young family during their difficult times. She ends up convincing her husband to start a business; basically a support/help center for wolfshifters in need. They provide basic medical care, food, clothing, shelter, etc.
Skip to modern day and Soap's family is still very heavily supporting this 'little' business. It's grown a significant amount, obviously, and it's the largest of a handful of wolfshifter care centers in the country, all others younger and operating independently. Soap's parents still run the "soup kitchen" that provide homemade Scottish meals to any and all wolves, no questions asked. Soap's eldest brother and wife are in charge of the medical facility that provides care for both human and wolf form. The brother (Oliver) and his wife run the "human" department specifically, and one of the two MacTavish sisters (Sarah) is in charge of the "wolf" department. Tiffany, the second MacTavish sister is in charge of the housing for displaced wolfshifters.
Side note about wolfshifters in this AU: they all are required to wear identifying tags/have ID chips for what's considered "safety" purposes. Ghost, being the legally dead menace to society he is, no longer wears his ID tags/dogtags (military ones), and because of Roba, his chip had been forcibly removed so he could never be identified; he'd just die a nobody.
Then we got Simon Riley. His father, being the absolute abomination he is, never knew his wife was a wolfshifter until after they have kids. Simon got the brunt of his abuse for being a wolf, and he eventually just became so numb to the abuse he gets from everyone that he eventually stops transforming. So much to the point that Price is not aware of his shifter status, but he's definitely suspicious.
But not as suspicious as Soap. Soap grew up around wolfshifters, and he knows there are certain behaviors and whatnot that are noticeable even in human form. He picks up on a few, albeit very subtle, behavioral traits from Ghost that just scream "wolf" to him, but he knows not to approach him about it. He grew up around wolves that had nowhere to go, no one to go to, traumatized and broken regarding their true nature. Ghost is like a poster child for it, so Soap keeps his distance from that topic.
They still end up having a very unique relationship, but it's not established when Ghost goes missing during a solo mission. Their intel was wrong or something else of the sort and he ended up getting captured.
The problem? They're a group trying to weaponize wolfshifters by forcing them to remain in wolf form. There's a special drug that was supposedly lost/abandoned that can induce transformations in wolfshifters. This group has mutated it to the point that wolves cannot physically transform back into human for several months at a time with only one injection of an amount that's in ratio with body weight and stuff.
ANYWHO
Ghost ends up stuck in wolf-form, he's injured, and he has no clue where he is. Turns out, he's stranded in what's considered the world's "safehaven" for wolfshifters all because of the MacTavish family.
Soap's siblings end up having to take him in, obviously not knowing who he is because he has no IDs or anything.
Basically just a really fluffy and angsty story about Ghost finding family with the MacTavish's and Soap just having absolutely world-destroying realizations of his love for Simon Riley. Ghost being soft with the young nieces and nephews, being fiercely protective of his new found-family
Yeah, I clearly haven't thought about this AU at all. Nope. Not a thought going towards it

Meeting Havandr Except Chapter 25
“Who’s next? Surely there must be another who wishes to try their strength against Havandr the Grim.” He raises his arms to the crowd, looking for someone to step forward. No one does.
The man next to me takes my hand, pouring my winnings into it. Ten yellow coins wink back at me. I look back at the ring. “I will.”
The man grasps my wrist. “Girl, he’s cannier than he looks and at least triple your size, don’t be a fool. Take the coin and buy yourself a nice trinket.” He looks me over. “A pretty girl like you should have some baubles to wear.”
I pull away from him and step forward, dropping the coins into the jug near the entrance of the ring. The Grim turns and his muzzle turns up in a canine grin. “Well hello, it seems I am blessed with beautiful opponents tonight. What might we call you?”
“Skadi of Five Claw.”
“Ah, I do love me some Five Claw females,” he says and laughter goes up around the ring.
His eyes are dark, filled with warmth and humor, not mockery. He shakes back his long shaggy brown hair and combs a clawed hand through the wild beard around his lupine muzzle.
Soara steps next to me, bending to whisper into my ear. “He hasn’t shifted yet. The one defending the ring isn’t allowed to shift off the damage. His left side is weak below the ribs, a strike there followed by a strong takedown may win it for you. Don’t let him grapple you.”
I blink at her, surprised she’d offer me council. “Thank you.”
“We Five Claw sisters need to stick together. Good luck.” She pats my back and steps away.
I flick my ear tip as I stride forward. Unlike Soara, I don’t keep my hair in my Vargree skin. But I note this Havandr the Grim does. Perhaps it’s a style in the north. We circle each other and he eyes me. She’s right, he’s favoring his whole left side and the kick he took to the knee earlier appears to be wearing on him. I find it interesting he’s taken on so many opponents and doesn’t appear tired.
“A bit small for a warrior, aren’t you?” That annoying, confident grin curls his muzzle again. “It’s all right, gorgeous. I have a soft spot for the little feisty ones.”
I grin back, planning to exploit every soft spot he has. Havandr moves first, startling me since in his previous bouts he let his opponent come to him. I rush past him, spinning to plant a hard fist under his ribs, and I’m rewarded with a surprised grunt. Soara was right.
His arm bends back at an impossible angle, almost catching me as I skate by. It’s then his scent hits me—a warm, seductive spice. Heat pools low in my gut. I shake my head, spinning out of reach. He’s been fighting in this ring for at least an hour. How does he smell so good? Like good enough to rub against.
Fast. Fast. Faster. I close and drop, landing two more hits, one to the side and one to his gut. He grunts again, fingers ruffle through my fur, but don’t find purchase. I’m out of his range before he recovers. We stare at each other panting. Havandr’s eyes dilate to black. His scent is on me, clinging to my fur like some exotic spice. I inhale, enjoying it.
“Little she-wolf,” he purrs—and this is the first time tonight I’ve heard him flirt with any of his opponents. “I can think of much better ways to spend our evening.”
“I’m getting put off by your references to my size. Maybe you should focus on the bout you’re losing.” I feint to the right and slam an elbow hard into his left. Something cracks and it’s not me. Emboldened, I spin behind him, kicking the back of his knee. He’s barely attempting to defend himself, seeming more inclined to take a read on me.
Havandr stumbles but doesn’t go down. He turns and I swear every thrice-damned muscle on his chest ripples. It’s hypnotic. I almost want to ask him to do it again. The next thing I know, he’s got a hand around my throat and I’m up in the air kicking. I’m uncertain how he moved that fast. I thrash, trying to win free as stars dance before my vision. He cocks his fist back, sending two sharp jabs into my gut. Air rushes out but isn’t coming back.
“Yield. This was fun, but as they say, all good things must end.”
I roll my eyes at the cliche. In a last ditch effort, I shift, whipping my legs forward to wrap around his neck. My narrower throat slips from his hand as my weight sets him off balance. Slamming my back to his chest, I hang suspended upside-down on his torso by my clenched thighs. I jab my elbows into his already damaged ribs and he grunts. My abdomen muscles scream in protest as I curl upward. My crotch muffles his shout of surprise, but ‘all is fair’ since he loves those cliches.
We land in a pile and I quickly squeeze my thighs on his neck, then give a hard twist. His neck cracks and the crowd goes silent. I shove the bulk of his dead weight off me. Looking up, I’m not surprised to see Destin’s golden blond hair in the crowd. I stand, brushing myself off. Then look down at Havandr, waiting for him to heal.
After a long moment, his head rolls, the odd angle of his neck straightens, and he shifts to his human skin. Dark eyes flutter open. I offer him my hand. He grasps it and grins, pulling me down to him. Then he kisses me. A full-of-passion on the mouth kiss, and damn, he tastes like sin. That dark spice scent fills my senses until he’s all I’m aware of and I let him continue, heedless of the fact people surround us until a wild cheer goes up.
Shocked, I freeze on top of him as awareness crashes back into me. His lips are hot. His beard isn’t soft like Liam’s. It prickles roughly against my skin. I pull back and he stands, takes my hand, and raises it high. “We have a new champion of the ring! Skadi the She-wolf of Pack Five Claw.”
The crowd goes wild and I stand there, still shocked. They thrust a jug full of coins into my arms.
“The night is young. Can I buy you a drink?” Havandr smiles down at me. He’s rugged in his human skin, with high round cheeks and thick dark eyebrows. My head barely comes to his sternum now that we stand relaxed side by side. “Or perhaps you can buy me a drink, since you won the pot.”
I blink at him, still a little stunned. “I don’t need the coin. I can split it with you.”
He grins and leans in, whispering so softly only I can hear it. “It was worth every chit just to have my face between your sweet thighs.”
I smack him. Hard. “I broke your neck with those ‘sweet thighs.’”
“Worth it.” He rubs his cheek with a grin.
“Grim! I see you’ve met my protégé,” Destin says, stepping forward to hopefully end this embarrassing exchange.
Havandr looks from Destin back to me, still rubbing his reddened cheek. “That explains so much.”
“She’s a bit of a beast, isn’t she?” Destin quips, pulling me to his side. I may have another neck to snap tonight.
“Enjoyably so.” Havandr eyes us both, as if trying to determine if I’m only a student or something more. “Well, you’re always welcome to join us.”
I suppress a sigh. Obviously, he’s hedging his bet.
“Actually, it’s time I get this one back to the inn. Perhaps another night.”
“Yes,” Havandr says thoughtfully then holds his hand to me, palm up. “Skadi, it was a pleasure.”
I stare at his hand a moment then place mine in it. Politely, Havandr touches his forehead to the back of my hand, then releases me. Destin takes my arm, leading me away. I adjust my grip on the heavy jug, resting it on my hip as we walk.
“Who is he?”
“Grim’s a packless mercenary that sells his muscle to the highest bidder, and he just let you take his winnings for the night. So let’s move along before he changes his mind.”
“But I beat him,” I protest.
“Skadi, not to be vulgar, but you put your cunt in his face and squeezed your damn thighs. Grim gave you the pot for the pleasure of it. He could have plucked you off at any time before you finished that move.” Destin laughs. “Not that the fight wasn’t impressive, and ballsy. But I’m certain he enjoyed it far more than you realize. For Grim, breaking his neck like that was probably akin to foreplay.”
I choke. “Are you serious?”
“Quite. I’d ask if you’re okay, but you have a fortune in gold and you just kicked the ass of the only warrior I’d consider a challenge, so let’s just call it a night.”
