Hello! This is a blog primarily focused on making animal books (mainly Xenofiction) more accessible to those who can't get them legally (or don't want to support the creators)
I've made two separate drives that contain A LOT of pdfs of said books, such as Warrior Cats, Wings of Fire, Ratha's Creature, Watership Down, Survivors and many more you can see on this list
You can ask for the links through messages or comments!
Tumblr media
More details about this under the cut!
Why not share the drives here?
Well, the last time I saw someone do that, the links got taken down, so instead I'll be sharing them through DMs!
Also, don't be shy to ask any questions.
There are two drives, the Main Books drive, and the Mature Books drive (which is mostly still a work in progress)
Please, specify if you want access to the mature books drive, and only ask for it if you're 18 years old or older, I will be checking if you have your age/age range in bio, if you don't have it, you can also say you're an adult when asking for it. (It's not a foolproof system, I know, but It's not like I want to ask for personal details)
The main drive has books that range from Family friendly to other series with an age rating of +13 or +15.
The mature books drive has animal books that have a lot of content not appropriate for minors, such as animal mating scenes, uncensored slurs and a lot of other dark topics. (Just because there's animal heat scenes doesn't mean that I condone the enjoyment of said scenes, if I see someone claiming to be zoophile wanting access to the drive, they will be blocked on sight) (This is not a safe space for anyone attracted to animals in such ways)
(I usually censor slurs before uploading the PDFs, but this time around, because of my own triggers, I haven't checked the contents of them and left the books the same as they were upon release, including slurs) (just because I left them intact, does not mean I agree with the usage of said words in the context of the books, which is why I added warnings for each slur in a document inside the drive) (I've personally censored every slur I've found in the books of the main drive, however)
For reference, this drive has books like Ratha's Creature and One for Sorrow, Two for Joy.
ALL BOOKS IN BOTH DRIVES HAVE A DOCUMENT LISTING ALL TRIGGER AND CONTENT WARNINGS FOR EACH SERIES.
The trigger warnings were sourced from book reviews and pages focused on giving content warnings.
Here are other questions you may have:
Can I share the link once I have it?
Yes! As long as you don't share it in public internet spaces (comments, public posts, open discord servers with huge amounts of people) it should be fine. I would love to make it public, however I also don't want it to get taken down minutes after sharing, which is why I'm limiting it to private links.
Can I take the PDFs from the drive and use them on my own drive?
Of course! The entire point of this is to make these books more accessible! Take whatever you need from here!
Have a nice reading! I will keep giving out the links for as long as this post is still up (or gets taken down or something happens to me lol)

#11 Edme
Book name: Wolves of the Beyond Author: Kathryn Lasky
She is described as both red-furred and dark gray in the books but my preference goes out to her being dark gray.

Thinking about these ableist wolf books again and how they had the POTENTIAL to tell an uplifting story but then they just...didn't.
Tumblr media
The whole wolf society established in this series is ableist and eugenicist as all hell. All pups that are born sickly or disabled are left to die out in the wild. There is no pack that is exempt from doing this.
There's one pack, the McHeaths if memory serves, who is seen as "barbaric" by the other packs but I'm like...dude, you're all equally participating in Wolf Eugenics here wth. You're not better.
So with this society established, and a good chunk of our main cast being disabled wolves, you'd think this'd be some sort of uplifting story about overthrowing this oppressive ableist system. Well, it isn't. At all.
Heck, you'd expect the packs or at least the McHeaths to be the main villains here but it's actually yet another disabled wolf named Heep. Yay, I guess?
For most of the story Faolan and his gang just go along with wolf society and don't really change anything or even really try to. They just accept their ableist society as is?? Then of course roughly halfway into the series all disabled characters (except for Edme) get their disabilities healed for NO coherent reason (that Ember was bullshit and barely established at all and you know it).
And like...even after this the only reason the oppressive wolf society changes is because the world is LITERALLY ending with endless snowstorms, earthquakes and also a death cult on the rise forcing a dozen or so survivors to leave. But like...there's no steps taken before that by our main characters or otherwise to change this oppressive system. Just take it or leave it as is.
It just kind of reminds me of the common criticism launched at Harry Potter. In that, the wizarding world's system is shown to be very flawed: oppressive, racist and employs slavery. And instead of fighting to change this our main characters are instead fighting to preserve this very flawed status quo (though thankfully Faolan & co aren't exactly fighting for it, more so they just accept it). Heck even My Pride for all its problematic aspects seem to be going into the direction of changing or outright abolishing Pride Law.
So idk I felt Lasky really missed her mark here. It's one thing to invent a super oppressive and ableist system, it's another thing to do absolutely nothing with it in your plots. Again, literally the only reason this system went down is bc the world ended and only like a dozen or so survivors (which were mostly our heroes) made it out okay, so there were no oppressors left to oppress. But nothing proactive is done about it. Shame.
I guess the one aspect re: the portrayal of disability in this series I like is that when he gets healed, Faolan is actively frustrated by his healed paw and wants it to revert back, but like...that's it.

Day 12 - Niche Interest
Wolves of The Beyond time baby! The first book series I reread once I got my library card after I moved. If I was more into fan art, I'd probably draw Faolan more. If you like talking animal books, I'd def recommend this one!

A snack-sized list of books for my fellow therians !!
Most of these revolve around an animal main character [obviously], and you can get most of them from amazon, books a million, or maybe a local library!! I'll include links for most of them :)
Tumblr media
A Wolf Called Wander by Rosanne Parry: Swift, a wild wolf cub, lives with his pack in the mountains. When a rival pack attacks, Swift and his family scatter, and Swift sets out on an incredible journey through dense forests, into barren wilderness, and across flowing water. The trip is dangerous and full of peril, and Swift encounters fie, hunger, hunters and highways as he wanders. Will Swift find the courage to survive? Will he ever find a place to call home?
I liked this one a LOT. It's also based around a real wolf named OR-7 (or Journey), who traveled 1,000 miles across the Pacific Northwest. There are 208 story pages [20 chapters] and 23 pages talking about wolves, with fun facts, and map of OR-7's 1k mile trip. The story pages also have beautiful illustrations on almost every one of them!! (My favorites are 193 and 221) 10/10, highly recommended for wolf therians :)
(You can buy it Here or Here!)
Tumblr media
The Call of the Wild by Jack London: Stolen from his home and family, a dog named Buck must quickly learn the harsh law of survival among the men and dogs of the gold-crazed North. His intelligence, courage, and cunning transform him into a feared leader. As wolves attack and the men grow desperate, Buck must heed the call of the wild. Only the strong will survive.
I haven't read this one just yet. With 7 Chapters and 172 story pages, this one looks promising :)
(You can buy it Here! There's a ton of different versions, check which ones you're buying :sob: )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pax by Sara Pennybacker: Pax and Peter have been inseparable ever since Peter rescued him as a kit. But one day the unimaginable happens: Peter's dad enlists in the military and makes Peter return the fox to the wild. At his grandfather's house three hundred miles away from home, Peter knows he isn't where he should be- with Pax. He strikes out on his own despite the encroaching war, spurred by love, loyalty, and grief. Meanwhile Pax, steadfastly waiting for his boy, embarks on adventures and discoveries of his own...
Apparently this is a two-part series, the second book being "Pax, Journey Home," though I don't have that one. There's 34 chapters, 276 story pages, and a few illustrations here and there. I'm only halfway done with this one, but I'm already giving it a 10/10 :3
(You can buy it Here or Here, and the second book Here or Here!)

Wolves of the Beyond - Lone Wolf by Kathryn Lasky: (The owl war is over. The wolf pack awaits.) In the harsh wilderness beyond the owl world of Ga'Hoole, a wolf mother hides in fear. Her newborn pup, otherwise healthy, has a twisted paw. The mother knows the rigid rules of her kind. The pack cannot have weakness. Her pup must be abandoned on an icy riverbank- condemned to die. But alone in the forest, the pup, Faolan, does the unthinkable. He survives. This is Faolan's story, the story of a courageous wolf pup who rises up to change forever the wolves of the Beyond.
I really liked this one too :) I only remember reading the first book. The first book also has a bear main character named Thunderheart, and I think there was an owl side character mentioned in the second part of it? There are 28 chapters and 219 pages, but there are also at LEAST 6 books: Lone Wolf, Shadow Wolf, Watch Wolf, Frost Wolf, Spirit Wolf, and Star Wolf. (I have the first three!! :)) Another 10/10 :)
(Buy the first book Here, the second book Here or Here, and the third book Here! I think you can find the other three on amazon, and Books-A-Million also has the fourth!! Can't link them all right now :[)
Tumblr media
Wings Of Fire - The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland: Clay has grown up hidden beneath a mountain, one of the five dragonets chosen to fulfill a mysterious prophecy and end the war between the dragon tribes of Pyrrhia. He's not so sure about the prophecy part, but Clay can't imagine not living with the other dragonets; they're his best friends. So when one of the dragonets is threatened, all five spring into action. Together, they will choose freedom over fate, leave the mountain, and pursue their destiny- on their own terms.
I only have the graphic novel versions of the first 6 books, but i highly recommend them all!! :) The art on the graphic novels give the characters a sense of life not even the Warriors graphic novels have, and I love it !! 10/10.
(I can't keep linking them all, but Books A Million and Amazon are where I look for them!)
Tumblr media
Warriors - The Sun Trail by Erin Hunter: When a mysterious vision promises a land filled with prey and shelter, a group of brave young cats leave their harsh mountain territory in search of a better home. But great dangers await- and threaten to divide them.
This is a series that I think most therians and furries (And just 'weird' kids in general) alike recognize pretty quickly. I think The Sun Trail is the first book that takes place in the story, but I could easily be wrong. I actually don't have Into The Wild, but I recommend the entire series! 10/10 <3
