OTNF, what would you consider visually beautiful in terms of anime? Art styles, series, ect.

Very little these days, tbh. I'm hypersensitive to the awkward in-between frames.

The main issue I have with this new Onmyouji series isn't the character designs. I'm sure the concept art is gorgeous. The problem is that the consistency isn't there: a character will turn to give a 3/4 view and suddenly the anatomy will be weird. And I don't mean stylized because it's animation: I mean inconsistent with how the characters were drawn a minute ago.

But if I ignore that particular issue, which I suspect is largely budgetary, I like sharper features and no moeblobs.

I don't particularly care about Ghibli films, but they are gorgeous. I appreciate things with detailed and realistic backgrounds. While I'm not specifically drawn to the character designs, they're simple and consistent in a way that conveys emotion well and makes a nice contrast with the backgrounds. The animation of movement also feels like it has more mass behind it in a way that feels real.

I used to watch a lot of anime circa 2002. I was into big shounen series like Ranma or Rurouni Kenshin. All of them also have awkward in-between views and some faily animation that I'd probably find annoying now, but I connected with the characters enough to not care back then. Probably the prettiest I remember was Vision of Escaflowne.

I tend to like manga far better, probably because artists aren't forced to draw all the awkward views. Okano Reiko is a favorite.

I imprinted on Crying Freeman as a young teenager, though I didn't realize till later how much of a sameface problem Ikegami Ryoichi had until years later.

(Yes, someone sold Crying Freeman to a 14-year-old. Bless bookstores.)

For more conventional styles that someone managed to produce more than quarterly, I like that early 90s look you see in things like Yakumo Tatsu.

But I can like a goofier style if the anatomy, page layout, and graphic design sensibility are on point. The beginning of the Dragonball manga is honestly fantastic—the polar opposite of the eye-bleeding horrors of the DBZ anime.

Of course Yanpire is the English teacher. It would have been funny as heck if he’s randomly the Japanese literature teacher, tho. Like how WTF would it be to have this Foreign Dude (TM) teach Japanese classic literature.

For fairness, this is mostly based on what I thought of their looks when I saw them for the first time, because once I got to know some of them more in their books, I became biased. 😆 Take Kuya for example, he's only on the middle tier in terms of appearance but because he's my bias now, I would most likely put him on the highest tier because I fell in love with him and that automatically makes me think he's the hottest. (≧▽≦)

I guess sometimes, we'll just suddenly realize how hot a person is the more we get to know them. Either that or love is blind 😂 jk jk

Notes:

Koga - He's the face of the app, of course he's so dang hot! I mean seriously, whenever I see his card illustrations, I just swoon 😍

Oji - Similar to Koga, his card illustrations are just so dang swoon-worthy! ♡ Also, he reminds me of Kisuke Urehara, one of my top favorite characters in Bleach who I also think is hot XD

Toichiro - It's obviously because he always looks dapper and dresses to impress. Him being a kemonomimi also adds to his handsomeness 🦊

Shizuki - I always think butlers are handsome, I mean it's such a handsome job! He also reminds me of Vishnal, the butler from Rune Factory 4 who is also my chosen bachelor 😆

Gin - I swear it's because of his eyes. They're so friggin captivating! It doesn't help that my favorite eye color is blue. 💙 I also like his scales/tattoos? in his ayakashi form. And his past self! omg 😍 If Gin looked more like his past self, he would be on the highest tier.

Gaku - I already thought his younger self was handsome but his adult form, my gosh! Especially in his awakened Love's Floral Embrace card! *sighs* (⁄ ⁄>⁄⩊⁄<⁄ ⁄)♡

Yakumo - I LOVE his outfit. And look at his awakened Voyage on the High Seas card! 😍 Maybe I just like formal/semi-formal western/european outfits in general (≧▽≦)

Kage - Ngl, he knows how to rock a killer look (both figuratively and literally) as a guy AND as a girl. Best of both worlds (≧▽≦)♡

Aoi - HE LIKES CUTE STUFF 😍 Like his clip, his pink braided hair, and his pink outfit. I love that! I need more representation of guys who are feminine yet can still be just as handsome as those who are more masculine or have that boyish charm like Nachi & Kuro. Tbh, just because a guy is feminine doesn't make him any less of man. I mean, malewives exist (≧▽≦)♡

Yura - He's prince-like, especially with the way he speaks. Or should I say princess-like? cuz he's like a disney princess with all the animals liking him. 😆 Also, I automatically think someone is cute if they like animals. They get bonus points if the animals like them back (꒪꒳꒪)♡

Tatsu - Looks average in his regimentals but is rather cute in his casual wear. (=´ ꒳ `=)♡ Same with Aki & Kyo, they're more handsome in their casuals.

Also, everyone is automatically hot if they're wearing a tuxedo just cuz I said so (≧▽≦)♡

My favourite bits from Yakumo's Book II

I know it's been a while since its release, but I was recently going through a Notepad file from back then where I made diligent notes for the whole book :p.

(understandably, contains spoilers)

Episode 27:

Futaba: ...If I give up now, they'll be turned into fodder for the experiments. When I finally get out those words, Professor Yakumo sighs. Yakumo: …Understood. Futaba: Huh? Yakumo: As you are so passionate about it, I will also look for a way to stop these experiments. I look to Tatsu to see if he's just as surprised as I am. Nachi: C-Can you just… decide that on a whim? I thought General Oyama forced you to help out? Yakumo: None of that matters. To me, what is most important is that my precious doll is not hurt.

Episode 32:

Kagemaru: You sure she'd be safer here? Yakumo: It was you who called her insurance, no? Yakumo: If even the slightest scratch blemished her skin-- The smile falls from Yakumo's face at Kagemaru's taunt. Yakumo: You would do well to remember I could easily fell this entire organisation.

(about Yakumo and the Senkitai) Nachi: I can't believe he knew where to find them… Nachi: And then he had the guts to actually join with them?!

Mototaka: So… What do you wish to speak with me about? Yakumo: Allow me to be frank. I wish to borrow your daughter. I aim to stop a certain military project, and I need my doll to make that happen. Mototaka: Yakumo, are you listening to yourself? Mototaka: You are a dear friend of mine, but even our friendship could not convince me to acquiesce to that request.

Futaba: ...I don't need immortality. Fear and worry threaten to strangle me, but I push the words out. Yakumo: ... Futaba: It wouldn't make me happy. Neither would living here in secrecy. Futaba: I'd rather be with Father. With the people I love. Futaba: ...Living for so long would be too lonely to bear. Yakumo: ...! He blinks in some kind of realisation, and then I watch as his expression falls.

Episode 55:

Yakumo: I am a coward. Futaba: Y-You told me that before. Yakumo: I'm weak… Futaba: …And that's fine. Yakumo: I tried to lock you away. Futaba: That… was less fine, admittedly.

Also from the same episode:

Yakumo: Would you like to broker another deal with me? Taketora: …A deal? Yakumo: First, I will not be returning to my cell. Yakumo: Nor will I be providing my blood for the Youjin Project, which I officially wash my hands of. (…!) General Oyama's brow furrows in confusion. Taketora: …This is not the start of a particularly convincing deal.

Epilogue:

Yakumo: As one of us lacks a soul, this destined meeting may not await us in the future. He laughs bitterly, and I quickly take and squeeze his hand. Futaba: ...We'll be fine. Yakumo: ... Futaba: My soul will be reborn and seek you out. Futaba: I'll find you no matter where you are. I refuse to leave you alone.

Nachi's Truth #2 (Major spoiler ahead. Now you get the full picture)

So that was it. Nachi was Akiyasu's past life's pet! he was a simple cat that turned into a nekomata after 1000 years. that completes his truth but this is totally unexpected. Nachi also knew MC from her past life. He knew she was important to Aki.

They never give us a hint in Aki's book. I loved this new twist though. No complaints but it was little disappointing to think Futaba's beloved cat had only approached her at first in his quest for revenge. He even instigated a few things and caused her powers to awaken. Right from the start he wanted to find out which Comrade of hers killed his beloved master (Akiyasu past self).

But of course somewhere in the middle, he truly began caring for her and fell in love with her . Nachi's book was definitely good content wise, and didn't disappoint.

However I've always had him friend zoned, so there's that. Somebody wanted to know about My favorite Lovers books 📚 So I'm revealing it here. I love my ayakashi husbands 💛 💕 Toichiro, Kagemaru, Akiyasu (surprise, his book has really moved me) and Tatsuomi. I've had a few complaints for Tatsu route but I still love him. I really loved Gaku and Oji's books too. Koga's felt like it was canon and well, I really liked Kuya's story as well. that said I have read every lovers book so far and played all the events. the guys above are my favorite so I pay them extra attention

among the guys who still don't have a lovers book. I love kyo and I am super curious about yakumo.

Everybody loves hearing about dreams (especially dreams about voice actors), right?

I’ve been nostalgically getting back into anime and manga lately. I was checking out Hanasakeru seishounen, because I really love the mangaka Itsuki Natsumi’s other series Yakumo Tatsu and also liked her Jyu-Oh-Sei. Well, Seki Tomokazu plays an American in Hanasakeru seishounen, so occasionally speaks English (and I’ve heard worse from seiyuu tbh).

The reason this made me chuckle is I used to, in my Weiss-obsessed days, have a recurring dream where Seki Tomokazu came to a party I was hosting(?), and I was so excited to be his interpreter, but then he’d start speaking perfect English . . .
