sick of ppl being like “owo you like this character? ur a basic fan, not a real fan, how about you actually watch the show/read the book/play the game instead of just obsessing/thirsting over one character”
or acting like “oh if you don’t hate this arc as much as i do then you’re not a real fan, if you don’t hate this character then you suck lol, if you like this character then you’re a terrible person/dumbass”
and don’t get me started on the virtue signalling, purity culture, harassment of others, etc (don’t call for people’s deaths, what the fuck is wrong with you??)
this is fandom, we’re all weirdos, leave people alone and let them engage with media in peace
shoutout to people who don't have a "before" the trauma.
shoutout to people who don't have any sweet or nostalgic childhood memories. to people who don't remember enough of their childhood to know what the before was like. to people who lost their innocence before they ever learned the word for it. to people whose pasts were too painful to keep around in any form. to people who only knew trauma, and don't have an idea of what life would be like without it. to people who can't long for "the better days" because there weren't any.
you deserve a good future. i hope it's there for you soon.
alpha/alpha isn't even a canonized AO3 tag yet and Pit Babe The Series is already out here like "there's a special kind of alpha that can get other alphas pregnant 😜"
allow me to gush for a second but I love this fandom so so much - the older fans and the new joinees and the casual lurkers - because everyone has absorbed the one essential tenet of the show which is always and forever "yes and"ing any situation, no matter how bizarre. you will always find someone who reads your crackpot theory and screams with you in the tags, you will always find someone ready to clown another day, each day a new person reads your fic and leaves a comment, a new artist finds a new scene to put a spin on and share, every day I see so many incredible lunatics in the tags who are just being happy and stupid and yes and-ing friends they don't know they're forming lasting bonds with, and I love that despite everything - the anger and the heartache and the sadness of it all - open joy and fandom bonds have persisted
look, i know everyone said that the new interview with the vampire show was incredible but holy shit i was not prepared for how incredible this show is
like, not only is louis interesting now, he is incredibly compelling! his once-bland internal dilemma is now given actual weight because it's not just the same old Thou Shalt Not Kill But I Am Hungry story, it's tempered through his righteous fury at how black people have been treated all these years, how many people have wronged him and laughed and expected him to laugh along, how his ties to the community that once saved him are now turning to nooses around his throat, how his family that he once provided for and relied on have now come to fear him
that, combined with his explicit homosexuality, and with lestat being the only one who seemed to accept him and love him for all that he is, and how that is both comforting and incredibly toxic and combined with sam reid's insane charisma and mania and gravity as lestat that make it completely understandable why louis would still be drawn to him in spite of everything
and how they've used the changes from the original to this one to examine how memory shifts regarding someone who was so intense and formative in your life even if they were ultimately so controlling and abusive but still left such huge gouges in your personality like knives
like
fuck
this is the best-written show i have seen in a long time like this is top-tier writing holy shit
One thing that's incredibly annoying about the A:TLA fandom is how nearly every. single. well thought out piece of Zutara analysis is inevitably invaded by people who are massively condescending and allergic to media analysis in general.
If you don't like Zutara, that's fine - but why are you watching 2-4 hour long videos on why they would have been a good pairing if all you have to contribute is, "They weren't canon/you're delusional/they sucked/get over it lol".
It's very frustrating to pop into a fandom space and try to spectate on some thoughtful discussions, just to have it overrun by people being rude.
but do you truly hate him more than you hate yourself?
canto 5 keeps feeding me. I love me some good ambiguous dialogue where you can infer that ish is either reciprocating heath's negative feelings or admitting that she also dislikes herself. 10/10. good food. I'm so happy with how these two are being written and developed.
really wish people would stop insulting others over different readings of media. i don't care even if it's a lighthearted insult, if you call someone stupid for having a different interpretation than you, you're still insulting them, and you are in the wrong in this situation. it's not banter, you're just being a dick for no reason. stop.
dono: never thought i'd see someone less smooth than you when it comes to flirting but here we are
fit: what are you talking about- i'm "less smooth"? i sealed the fucking deal, i don't know what you mean by "not smooth", i sealed the fucking deal. i got that shit on fucking lockdown. i mean look at me, look at me.
The Acolyte showrunner just gave an interview talking about how the show will be "jedi critical" because "that's the story george lucas was trying to tell" and I'm about to commit a crime
