#AloneTogether @johannagrawunder 💡⛔️ • Johanna Grawunder, American architect, constructs two large paths of light and colour into which the visitors can enter and wonder. Bright hanging constructions in diverse material and the surrounding darkened space offer an experience of crossing between reality and vision. The title of her installation is Alone Together. Alone Together is an installation of empty space punctuated with two immersive light environments. The first, which must be walked through, must be navigated, is a simple construction, asymmetrical, made with humble painted plywood and industrial components. It is called Let’s Get Lost, after the Chet Baker song because it is a jazz light. Improvised. The second piece, Mandala, is symmetrical and translucent, with bright overlaying colors and sleek luminous planes. It is meant for seeing from a distance because distance is a luxury! And you can also enter and have the experience of being inside light. In between Mandala and Let’s Get Lost, some precious empty. Dark empty. Industrial memory empty. Mindful empty. #Blush lamp by @formafantasma for @flos • The relationship humans have with light transcends a functional dimension and is elevated to an emotional one. Lamps are designed to illuminate the world with brightness, but also with the intimacy of shadow: the quality of light cannot solely be measured through its intensity. ‘Blush lamp’ makes use of a Led strip and a piece of dichroic glass to cast brightly-tinted reflections on walls to answer to the lack of colour saturation during winter months. #DIFC by @nultylighting💡🌈 • Working closely with @10Design.co, Nulty’ve designed and implemented a vibrant architectural lighting scheme for Dubai International Financial Centre’s (DIFC) Gate Village – a destination where “art, commerce and cuisine meet”. The outdoor lighting solution brings the village to life through light and includes two show-stopping illuminated bridges, which connect high-rise buildings either side of the street. The ribs of each bridge are mounted with linear RGB media tubes to strengthen the architectural shape and generate a vivid, fun light display when in colour-changing mode. On the inside of the walkways, halo luminaires on the ceiling create a striking 360-degree light portal as people walk through. Along the main street theme took a layered lighting approach to pathways and landscaping. Planting is highlighted and the base of planter boxes feature integrated lines of light to give the illusion that they’re floating. #CatchAsCatchCan by #DanielBuren 💡🎨 • Daniel Buren is widely considered to be France’s greatest living artist and one of the most influential and important figures in contemporary art for the last 50 years. In summer 2014 Buren has transformed the west façade of @baltichateshead into a kaleidoscope of colour, visible outside and also inside the galleries, where Buren exhibits a major large-scale commission. Recently Buren’s works have become more sculptural and architectural, although these characteristic stripes are still a key element. For this exhibition, Buren colours the glass windows of Baltic and saturates its interior with swathes of coloured light which pour into every room and passageway.
