okay so i’m curious about something… as a fic reader(or writer), do y’all like when a chapter opens with dialogue, like instantly? or do you prefer a little build up before the dialogue starts?

and fic authors, do you like starting your chapters with dialogue or are you a little like me in that you don’t? (but i do like it when i’m reading, it’s just a personal preference for writing)
