Sometimes it's useful to look at your dialogue and ask yourself, "would a real human being talk like that?" But it's also good to ask the follow-up questions of "would the way a real human being talks sound good here" and "does this character actually talk like a real human being or are they weird about it."

I'm gonna be pedantic with this one; don't mind me.

A character who is emotionally dishonest to those they care about via putting on a brave face that rarely cracks. I especially love to do this to characters with bright or exuberant personalities, more so when that extroversion is a mask to cope with self-esteem issues. I really like theater kids who also hate being vulnerable with others for whatever reason they have.

There tends to be either a Strong Confident Woman or a Shy Sweetheart in the text somewhere, sometimes both. I have a habit of building female characters after either myself or my type when writing an original character.

Fantasy elements. Always, without fail. Someone has magic powers in some way, shape, or form, and usually creature features that align thematically. Sometimes these features' presence can be toggled via magic. Fairly often I write sapient, vaguely human-shaped entities that aren't human but live among humans. I have a particular penchant for reptilian entities, entities that purr, and entities that wag their tails to emote.

Writing that is eloquent, dances around 'said' and 'was', but does not omit them entirely from the script, they are simply rare to come by. They make every sentence jump out from how dancing around 'said' and 'was' can force more flavor into the text and force me to utilize my extensive vocabulary more. (I was the kid who googled words she didn't know.) I also use metaphors, similes, and intend to start using zeugmas in my writing. I use a lot of colorful writing devices to paint scenes and more to paint character backstories and emotions.

My own struggles with mental health make writing troubled characters having a meltdown easier than writing casual conversation. I've also been a shut in for most of my life. It may show in my writing.

Main characters with a voice in their head, or some sort of invisible companion that only they can hear. I don't know why this keeps popping up, but I may need to go see psychiatrist.

absolute wet cat men. Jodie, the protag of my current WIP, is constantly confused and and getting dragged everywhere he goes.

The fashion. For some reason I really love describing the nice, intricate outfits I have created for my characters. It may just be my fashionista bleeding into my writing, but it keeps appearing.

weird names. I can never give a character a normal human name, I always have to look for the weirdest, most unique names I can find. In that sense I'm kind of like a white suburban mom.

Short men protags. after going through many of my old wips, I have noticed that if the protag is a man, he is short. I have no explanation for this. Its not projection either. I'm 5'10.

Adding to this. A few good brands I know of are Arteza, Brutfuner, Staedtler, Prismacolor, and Faber Castell. Apparently, Germany is a hotspot for the arts, and as such, the quality of the supplies they make curb stomps Artist's Loft, Scholastic, and Crayola, with brighter colors and more durable tools, at least, as far as the colored pencil department is concerned.

Feel free to add onto this, I'm bookmarking brands to look out for. I'm also looking for quality sketchbooks, especially ones that aren't harsh on the nibs of my fineliners and alcohol markers.

Everyone has a vice or an Achilles' Heel of some sort, and for me, it's collecting expensive art supplies (especially expensive ink pens normally uses for drawing manga) and rigid containers to compartmentalize them in.

Funny story behind my URL.

I made it in my teenage gremlin phase, where I felt like I was hot shit and a mischief maker, and it's just stuck ever since because my self-insert OC, Revel/Eliza has always been a little bit melodramatic and/or a smartass.

I also can get really excited and overwhelm people with walls of text when I'm comfortable in private messaging channels. This is not discord exclusive but it is more prominent on Discord.
