Carlie woke up the next morning and made herself a cup of coffee since she had difficulty going back to sleep. You would think after being up all night at the party and coming home late to write on her blog that she’d be exhausted the following day. After she finished her cup and rinsed it out, preparing to dry it and put it away, Casey came trotting downstairs to Carlie’s surprise.

Elise was having a rough time. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, she missed Matthew. She found herself aimlessly scrolling through old photographs in her camera roll and came across photographs from one of the last nights they spent together. A myriad of photographs filled her phone screen, reminding her of how despite the fact that they were trying to keep their interactions with each other a secret, when they were together everything felt so natural. Elise could appear as very stoic and uncaring sometimes, but around Matthew she felt free to her silly, outgoing self. He brought a side out of her that she typically keeps under wraps and seeing those photographs reminded her that.

Today was Friday and it was finally the weekend. After a strangely difficult and unique first few days of work, Carlie was free to relax at home and spend the weekend as she pleased to. One of the first things she did, after she returned home from Lyle’s party was update her blog - a space that Carlie has cultivated and updated since she was 20 years old that is intended to be a anonymous space where she can be real. She wanted a space where she could vent and externally process all of the big changes happening in her life at the time.
What was meant to be an online diary of sorts blew up over night after one of her posts about her ex-boyfriend went viral. Now over 100,000 users flock to her blog to read her latest updates, despite having no idea who she is. As a result, she’s continued to update her readers on everything from her relationships to her career experiences without using too many specifics.

After what happened during the meeting between Carlie and Sophie, Carlie couldn’t focus for much of the rest of the day. She was seething with anger on the inside, but knew that if she expressed it, it would backfire against her. It hadn’t been long since she got hired and she was already seeing what so many people despised Sophie. She was arrogant, mean, and someone that shouldn’t be the leadership role she holds if she isn’t willing to accept feedback from the people who work under her.
Carlie spent her lunch grabbing a light bite to eat from one of the food carts out back and as she was waiting for her order of her takoyaki balls, Matt saw her. He didn’t approach her, but instead just stood there, knowing that after what happened, she probably needed a moment to herself. He felt bad for her though, knowing that she’d only recently just started working there and was already being treated by Sophie like she was beneath her.
