So I feel like you will appreciate this given our mutual jaw propped open adventures yesterday: about an hour into the procedure my phone shuffles the Endwalker soundtrack to The Final Day and all my anesthesia-laden brain can think of is Zenos pointing at my dentist and being all "I take it this is your prey?"

I was just listening to the music that was playing in the dentist's office*, and the endodontist and I had been talking about concerts she'd seen and she had seen George Michaels a lot because she legit likes soft rock, and the radio JUST KEPT PLAYING GEORGE MICHAELS. So I'm sitting there with my entire mouth wedged open, Careless Whisper came on, and I just started laughing super hard. Right around the dental dam and everything. She sang the entire song and I was just like, You know, this sucks but it sucks so much less than it would have. This is...not fun. I'm not gonna call it fun. But it isn't exactly awful either.

So it wasn't my favorite thing and I definitely would like to not do it again but it wouldn't kill me either.

*I actually had noise canceling headphones with me and I didn't put them on because I didn't feel like dealing with the fact that there was no way they could cancel a noise that was coming from inside my head, and I do not have noise canceling ears, so I didn't see the point.

Wow good morning I slept something like 13 hours...and I guess I could feel worse, but I've definitely felt better.

The fucking irony that my tooth didn't hurt at all until I got it fixed and now it's wildly uncomfortable...though well within the range of 'just got a root canal' still, so I'm not worried, just annoyed.

Shit, I wish I was writing a trilogy, because I am really going to need something engrossing to do while lying down tomorrow. In the meantime I'm not actually supposed to take any OTC painkillers I can avoid (acetaminophen because my liver enzymes are somewhat elevated, everything else because it turns me into a human volcano of stomach acid because I already blew my lifelong allowance of ibuprofen ten years ago) but I don't think I can avoid it.

Also, phone, I'm gonna need you to stop recommending the name X every fifth word I type. You are helping like a Roomba that ran over a turd is helping.

Bluh I do not want my jaw propped open for two hours while they perform Mysterious Operations in there but that's what's about to happen in my day. Just gonna have to wedge the thing open like a car hood stick because I definitely can't keep it open for that long myself.

I'm mostly just chafed that this hasn't already happened. They rescheduled me twice but I guess the third time's a charm. Still. I'm sleepy and complainey about this because I couldn't sleep until probably 4:30-5 and then I was sleeping so good for a change. End meeeee.

Oh. The annoying part is going to be that the bit of my gums that needed cauterized is gonna hurt and the whole area has been very, very manhandled and needs me to know about it. The fibro is not even figuring in yet because muscle tension takes a few hours to catch up to me but four-hour local anesthetic wears off in an hour and a half on me because I'm built wrong as a joke.

Hoo boy. This is why I'm at the pizza lunch buffet trying to put food into my face while I still can. It won't last.
