2 - griz presents ‘space camp II’ @ the hampton coliseum - hampton, va

where to begin; space camp was special. sold out and packed to the brim, solid lineup and a unique stage. a hundred drums started off the night with this really banging midtempo bass music and i was absolutely living for it. of the trees picked up where she left off and it was just another straight hour of bliss with a gorgeous set of visuals. after that it was time, my main event, g jones. after just seeing him at lost lands my hopes were high and i was absolutely sure there was no way he would top it but he did. g jones illusoryOS dj set at space camp was a set so perfectly curated to my music taste it was unreal. with unreleased tracks from isoxo, wavedash, moore kismet and virtual self it was loaded with abstract unique bangers. my favorite moment was greg’s edit of dream dream dream by madeon, it was paired with these gorgeous black and white visuals and i will be wanting to relive that moment for the rest of time. after that i wws exhausted, but by the time i could even gather my thoughts griz came on IMMEDIATELY bringing the heat. i last saw griz in 2015 so i had never seen him in his new era of music and it was sensory overload. absolutely reminded me of someone we don’t talk about anymore, but more interactive and more live instrumentation. it was a lot of fun and i really appreciate griz for putting this event on and filling a void that i know a lot of people in the area have dealt with. i definitely can’t wait till next year. 10/10

1 - state champs @ the national - richmond, va - 12.6.22

after listening to state champs album “around the world and back” in 2016 i was hooked; loosely as i had never thought about going to a pop punk show. but over the years i continued to listen to them and i finally got the opportunity to see them and it was fantastic.

opening with just sound off the latest album was everything i could have ever dreamed of and they wasted no time getting into it and the crowd reflected it. they played so many heavy hitters and even had a section mid set where they played 5 separate songs in a short medly to satisfy all of their fans and it definitely worked.

the openers were quite good as well, although i was not familiar with between you and me they brough a great energy and everyone else seemed to really appreciate that, props.

9/10 - one of my top 5 sets from 2022 and i definitely will never miss them when they come around again
