January Recap
Now, as the first month of the year has passed, I would like to recount it and kind of see how it went.
I started the journey on the 14th, so bear that in mind.
The week after the 14th I was bombarded with work. But I still managed to make it to the gym one day of the week. And for that I’m really grateful.
Friday the 19th
I got on the treadmill. Accompanied by the first episode of Percy Jackson I made the brilliant performance of 3.8 km in 37:26 minutes. Which may not sound like that good of a time, but I’m happy with it. Especially since I haven’t „run“ in over a year. I think it’s quite a good first time. Ready to be improved.

22nd to 28th January
The week after that, I actually came down with the flu. I spent all the time not at work in bed, sleeping by 8 p.m. or 9 p.m.
By Friday I was feeling better, but I didn’t want to overdo it, so I simply walked a bit outdoor.
That Saturday I helped my boyfriend repaint the house, or rather find spots that were damaged or dirtied by the installation crew and paint over that. And lo and behold, it proved to be quite the workout.
The day after that, Sunday, him and me drove someplace nice to take a walk. It was a nice hour and we talked all the while about very different things. We started at the topic of dating and somehow ended up at the military.
But it was a nice hour nonetheless.

29th to 31st January
And that brings us already to this week, which had the last three days of January.
On Monday I went to the gym, this time for strength training. Warm up was a small run on the treadmill, 1.59 km in 16:41 minutes. It actually felt easier, though that might have been because I knew I would only run for roughly 15 minutes.
But I will take whatever win I can get haha
After the run came the different machines for weight focussed exercises. And boy did I miss it. I felt so nice and strong while I did it - albeit I did overdo it on the bench presses. I took out the additional weights of 2.5 kg + 0.5 kg on top of the bar, and that was an experience.
I tried to do them as good as I could. The first set of 15 were… not easy, but doable. But it was a steep decline after that.
The second set I already had to split up in 8/7. The third and last set I quit after 6 repetitions, where the sixth was just barely liftable.
Again, I will put the new measurements under the cut.
I weighed myself on the evening of the 31st January, again after a shower.
The weight was 100.3 kg, which is 0.2 lighter than on the 14th, but weight alone does not define whether or not someone is on the right track for a healthier lifestyle.
weight: 100,3 kg
fat: 41,3 kg
muscle: 55,8 kg
arm left: 33,0 cm
arm right: 35,0 cm
chest: 101,0 cm
hip: 129,5 cm
waist: 88,5 cm
ass: 128,5 cm
belly: 116,0 cm
thigh left: 77,5 cm
thigh right: 77,5 cm
calve right: 43,0 cm
calve left: 42,5 cm
Overall the measurements stayed the same or went slightly down. I noticed though that I didn’t catch the biggest part on my legs, so these numbers aren’t really comparable to the 14th. We’ll just have to wait and see in two weeks how the numbers changed.
But for now I am very happy with the current results and am looking forward to the next section.

Current State
Hi and hello everyone, my name is Alicia, or Ally. I’m now on my (hopefully last) journey of losing weight and starting a healthier life.
I have started and tried to lose weight more times than I can count, but I never managed to stick with them long enough to actually achieve my goals.
And since my sister is getting married in July this year, I decided to try and lose as much weight as possible before that.
Now some of you will already see that this goal is not very attainable, because it doesn’t follow the SMART rules.
My SMART goal is:
S (specific) loose weight
M (measurable) overall 6 kg
A (attractive) fit into an old fancy dress
R (realistic) over the course of 6 months
T (terminated) until July this year
Now, obviously I am not stopping after the wedding. That’s the ideal plan at least. I would like to continue the journey until I have reached a state of my body composition and lifestyle that I find comfortable.
And I‘m hoping by „broadcasting“ it for all of tumblr to see that I’ll stick to it.
Under the cut are my current weight (though after taking a bath and drinking some water) and measurements. I would like to do such a weigh in with measurements once a month. Maybe twice, depending on my motivation.
I‘d like to take you all with me on this journey of mine, keep you updated on my wins and losses and how I am doing overall.
weight: 100,5 kg
fat: 44,0 kg

hip: 130,0 cm
waist: 89,0 cm

belly: 118,0 cm
thigh left: 74,5cm

calve right: 41,5cm
calve left: 41,0 cm

Wait… that’s the pearl choker made to look like blood is running down the neck when worn.
Idk whether it’s a nice touch to put it on your bush buck or if that’s some kind of ironically twisted thing…
But either way, I’m impressed

Gonna get myself a fun little surprise I guess

I can’t believe I’m writing a reader insert story. Never thought I’d actually write one.
But it’s not like I’m writing the beginning… noooo the middle part, because I got inspired at work to write a about how Y/N goes to the club to destress from the parents and then Angst happens.
Of course while having a lot of bruises is the first time they meet Moon. Because… why not

There comes a point where we need to acknowledge that there is a limit to the actual "choices" we can make regarding our health.
Yes, that guy may choose to smoke every day. But we need to consider that he grew up in a home with active smokers, was exposed to second hand smoke at a young age, had older family who was willing to buy him cigarettes as a teen, works a labor intensive job where the only available times to sit are smoking breaks, has limited resources for stress or mental health relief, is supported by a social structure that normalizes smoking, does not have insurance that will cover the resources he needs to safely quit the addiction, etc etc.
And yes, that woman over there chose to start a new diet and workout routine that led to her losing significant weight. But she has access to medical care with multiple professionals who can monitor her health, can afford the expense and transportation necessary to buy fresh food regularly as well as store it appropriately in her kitchen, is educated on the nutrients her body needs and how to prepare a balanced diet, can afford to exercise safely within a controlled environment, has the extra time and energy to dedicate to exercise and meal planning every day, etc etc.
Our "choices" are supported by 1. the environment we live in, 2. the community we engage in, and 3. the resources available to us. Each of us are limited to some extent, and are already pushed towards certain daily "choices."
That doesn't discount the effort you're putting in or the personal responsibility that you share, but it does inform us on the wider constraints and advantages that exist in the world of health. Don't just ignore that because you want to compare your actions to those of strangers - You are neither better nor worse than them.
