All you remembered was everything crushing on top of you. The screams. The Loud Bang.
Then the darkness
Now you felt the pain in your side, in your back, everywhere really. It hurt to open your eyes but you did, you were still trapped in the plane. Everything had crushed you, and it was painful.
Hearing some movement nearby you strained your neck to look. It only hurt more. You could see the faint outline of Mark and he collapsed next to you. His cheeks were stained with tears, "Lexie," he choked, "She, she died," you almost gasped but bit your lip.
"I'm sorry," you whispered, breathing in and out and counting your breaths. Mark looked at you, and you sent a painful glance back.
"No," said Mark, pointing his shaking finger at you, "You, you can't die on my too Y/N Avery, I won't let you," he grabbed your hand, and you tried to smile. Blood rose to your throat and you coughed, "Y/N," he whispered.
A tear escaped your eye, and slid down your cheek. "It hurts Mark, it hurts so badly," you could feel your heart, and you couldn't tell if it was slowing down or speeding up. Your breathing was less frequent. You were a doctor, you knew what this meant. You were dying. "Mark," you whispered.
"No, no y/n you have to stay," he said, "For me, for Jackson,"
Jackson Avery. Your husband. The man you had promised to be with forever. Till death do you part. You didn't think it would be so soon. And you loved him and you wanted to stay but it was too damn painful to keep breathing. It hurt every inch of you to just keep going. Mark squeezed your hand tightly. It was unfair, that he would lose you and Lexie on the same day. The universe was cruel.
"Tell...tell Jackson-" you were spluttering out words now.
Mark looked you dead in the eye, "I'm not telling Jackson anything because you can tell him yourself," he said, you let out a small sigh.
"I love him Mark, tell him I love him. I love his face, his smile, his eyes, his voice, his smell. I love everything about him and I always have," you breathed in sharply, causing Mark to cry again, "Tell him I'll meet him again and we can spend eternity together, just make sure he knows that i never stopped thinking about him,"
He shook his head, "Please you have to stay, you can't leave me," you let out a sob because you couldn't work out which hurt more. Leaving Mark, Losing Jackson or the weight of a plane crushing you. Everything was dark and all you could make out was Mark. "It's me and you, okay, thats what we said, we've made it this far,"
You couldn't manage to make out any words. And Mark rested his head against the plane that was crushing you. He looked pale. "Go," you whispered, barely audible. You pointed to the blood along his neck. "I'll stay," you choked out. Mark nodded, and you managed to watch him find Cristina and Meredith.
Peacefully, you closed your eyes. You thought about Jackson. You hated not hearing your breathing as it became shallower. Jackson.
The first time you set foot in Jackson's apartment. He'd made you dinner. As soon as you'd walked in the door he'd kissed you and twirled you around. He complimented you dress and your hair, and the new shoes you'd bought.
He smelled of tea, sleep and the moon. He was your home.
For your second date he took you for a picnic in the park. There was all your favourite foods, and you lay hand in hand for hours as the sunset. He'd fed you chocolate covered strawberries and you'd kissed him as the sunset. His hand had never left yours. You could still feel his hands running through your hair.
He had proposed to you on the beach, it felt like years ago. Like you'd been together your whole life. He had taken you away to Hawaii, and you'd spent every hour on the beach together. As you took a walk under the stars on the final night he had asked you to marry him. You could still remember the pattern of the stars lighting up his face. You could remember everything. It was never a distant memory, and you could live it out forever soon.
When Mark came back over he saw your body and felt your cold hand. He tried to hear your breathing but there wasn't any. He cried again, holding your hand close to him. "Fuck you Y/N Avery," he whispered, "You said you'd stay,". There was a faint smile on your lips still. And he knew that in your last moments all you had been thinking about was Jackson. He hated you for leaving him, but all good things had to come to an end. Eventually all promises had to be broken. He just hated that you'd broken all yours so soon.
"I do," you responded, and Jackson pulled you into his arms to kiss you. His hands wrapped round your waist, and as his lips met yours he twirled you around. And as he pulled away from you he left a whisper in your ear that still sent shivers up your spine.
"mine"

It had been a long night at the shield headquarters, and just as you were getting ready to leave it decided to rain. You pulled your thin jacket tighter around you as you signed out the building.聽
As you walked further away from the headquarters, the streetlights became dimmer and it felt dark and cold. The rain was lashing down, soaking you through. The rain became heavier, and so you started walking faster, holding the hood of your jacket over your head. You shivered from the cold, and stopped for shelter under a door. It was then that you finally heard your phone ring, so you dug through your bag trying to find it.聽
Bucky's name, and a dorky picture of him, was lighting up your phone screen. You smiled to yourself, before answering the phone, "Hi Buck," you said loudly, trying to shout over the noise of the rain.聽
"Is that rain?" he asked you, a slight sigh in his voice as he realised that you had stupidly decided to walk home in the rain without a coat, "Where are you, I'm coming to get you,"聽
"Stop, I'm fine," you said, although you were secretly happy at his offer.聽
"This is not a yes or no situation," he said, and you heard him grab his car keys, "What street are you on?" You heard him put on his coat, and you looked for the street sign, but couldn't see it from the lack of light. You pulled your hood back on and used the phone's torch to look around.
"48th," you said, spotting the sign, "But I'm close to the subway now I can just take that, I thought Nat said you had a date,"
Bucky recalled the date, it had been a blind date. Courtesy of Natasha. He wasn't really up for it, and it wasn't because he didn't want to date. He only really wanted to date one specific person. That person being you. But he was too scared to ask you out, he didn't know if you liked him like that. So he kept himself in the friendzone, right where he didn't want to be. He'd left the date straight after he paid for the bill, and didn't bother to leave his number. Because he had no intention of leading her on when he only wanted to be with you. "Oh yeah that didn't work out, not really my type," he said, "And stay where you are, I'll be there as fast as I can,"聽
"Sorry about your date," you said, "And thank you," Bucky smiled at the other end of the phone. He couldn't even begin to describe how much he loved you. It was stupid really, how completely moonstruck he was about you. He ended the phone call and ran out to his car.聽
It was ten minutes later when Bucky pulled up beside the shelter you were stood under. He leaned over to open the door as you ran to the car. You sat down inside and shivered as the warm air from the car hit your freezing body. "Here," said Bucky, reaching over and pulling a hoodie from the back of his car. He handed it to you, and you peeled off your jacket and pulled the hoodie over your shirt. It was warm and fluffy, and smelt like Bucky.聽
"Thank you so much," you said, snuggling into the hoodie.聽
He smiled, he'd do anything for you. He pulled away from the curb, "Long day?" He asked, you nodded, trying not to think too much about it. "Not good huh?"
"It was okay," you said, "How was your day?"聽
"I did nothing interesting," he said, "The highlight of my day was probably you calling me," you chuckled a little, and looked over to him. His hair was messy and he had a light stubble over his jawline. He looked pretty under the lights of his car. But to be fair, he always looked pretty.聽
There was a peaceful silence as Bucky drove you home. But before your turn, he took another. You looked over to him, but he was already looking at you. "I'm taking you somewhere," he said, "Do you trust me?"聽
"Always," you said, he took your hand, and held it in his as he drove the car using the steering wheel. You watched him drive, he was still smiling and occasionally he would look down at your hands entwined together. Bucky was going down the highway, and you and you flew past all the other cars.聽
Then he pulled off to a smaller road, that was along the coast. You could see the sea, it was dark, but you could see the moonlight sparkling on the waves as they crashed into the rocks. Bucky rolled the windows down as he sped along the roads, the wind made your hair fly into your face, and Bucky let go of your hand to move it out the way, gently stroking your cheek. He didn't take his eyes off the road, but you wish he had. To see his blue eyes glitter gold in the light, to see the beautiful smile on his face, to wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him.聽
Bucky pulled the car up on a wide part of the road, and rolled the windows back up. It was then that he finally looked over to you, his eyes did sparkle in the light and he was wearing a smile. He laughed at you staring at him, "What?" he said chuckling.聽
"Nothing," you said, shaking your head.聽
"Okay come on then," said Bucky, opening his door. You followed him round, and he was sitting on some rocks. You sat down next to him and curled up into his side. He wrapped his metal arm around you, holding your hand. You sat in silence for a while and listened to the sea crash gently into the rocks. It was the only sound for miles around.聽
You looked over to Bucky, and he was already looking at you. Instead of looking away, he tilted your chin, and cupped the side of your face. "If you didn't know I'm completely in love with you," said Bucky. And then he kissed you.聽
