The official IchiRuki symbol Pt. 5
Crossed swords hold a lot of different meanings in a lot of different contexts, but I tried to summarize it in a cohesive, comprehensible way. Let's start.
The crossed swords form the letter X –or as we also know it, a cross. The symmetrical X-shape they create symbolizes the balance of male and female energies (which are essentially the crux of creation); analytical thinking with emotional values, and creative thinking with reason. The X has long been used in ancient symbolism to simplify the concept of spiritual –or psychological– transformation.
That last sentence was pretty interesting to me since in Ichigo's last transformation at Rukia's hands, his attire ends up sporting a lot of Xs over it and while I do believe this is mostly due to Kubo's aesthetic preferences, I find it worth of mention anyway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, the symbol of the crossed swords possesses dual meanings: positive and negative. We can further break down the positive and negative concepts into representations of good and bad, light and dark and in more simpler terms, white and black. You're probably wondering why I'm going on a tangent regarding this topic but as I was doing research on the meaning of the crossed swords and their representation of positive and negative I came across this little bit of info: In Freemasonry the black and white checkerboard (also known as "Mosaic Pavement") is an old symbol of the Order and is central within the lodge and all rituals occurred around it. But what does this have to do with Bleach you may ask... well, turns out William Shakespeare wrote about it:
"The Floor, or groundwork of the Lodge, a chequer-work of black and white squares, denotes the dual quality of everything connected with terrestrial life and the physical groundwork of human nature –the mortal body and its appetites and affections. The web of our life is a mingled yarn, good and ill together.” You're free to make your own interpretation of this text, but it is said that according to Shakespeare, the black and white checkerboard represents man's duality and given Kubo Tite's fixation with Shakespeare I'd say that perhaps him choosing to use crossed swords that represent a man and a woman, life and death, light and dark, white and black themselves it's a pretty telling choice when you take into account all the meanings those concepts hold. I'd delve deeper into what else this might represent like purity and sin or yin and yang, but then I'd never finish this essay (?) so I'll leave it at that for now.
Moving on, the position of the swords hold great meaning as well. Swords and other weapons pointing downwards imply the fight is over. Swords pointing downward represent peace, rest or the end of conflict. In christianity they represent no more killing, no more battles, no more wars and it is then that mankind will have finally realised that the only thing that can fight and conquer evil is love.
Tumblr media
Again, how is this all related to Bleach? Well, that's because this novel happens right after Ichigo's victory over Aizen and subsequent loss of his powers. In other words, during the time his battles and his war were over. He was in a period of peace yet evil (Ginjō, Tsukishima) still haunted him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this came to an end after he regained his powers through Rukia (love) who enabled him to defeat them (conquering evil).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And thus I've reached the final part of my rant, which takes me to the symbol as a whole.
Tumblr media
The text on it speaks for itself and at this point all I have to point out is that even though this might look like a very simple design, to me it seems like there was a lot of thinking put behind its creation and for one I'm actually very happy with it. I mean, we got an official IchiRuki symbol!!! And it embodies a lot of what the two of them represent both for the series and to each other, and all I can say is it goes to emphasize the importance their bond carries which is as we all know, the very essence of Bleach. As a final thought I'd like to point out that Rukia is the only one credited with saving Ichigo in the whole series (besides Masaki, whom sacrificed her life for him) as the title puts it "The Death SAVES the Strawberry" and that's just beautiful because in the end, they saved each other. If you read all the way up to this I want to thank you for sticking with me and my not so quite essay almost theory but mostly rant about these two and I hope you enjoyed it and found sense in it. I love you all my fellow IchiRuki!!!

The official IchiRuki symbol Pt. 4
Leaving aside the heavy meanings for the snowdrop, since they’re associated to death we can also draw a connection to Rukia, since she’s the only one to hold that special title amongst all the other shinigami present in the series.
Tumblr media
Credit to ichirukiChinese on Twitter for the image.
And picking up on the literature bit I mentioned before, Snowdrop is the original name for Snow White and so we have this:
Tumblr media
Making it obvious that Snow White is yet another title that Kubo granted to her in her bankai form. Very fitting, seeing how she covers everything in snow and ice, even herself, turning into a completely white version of herself as if she fused with Shirayuki, whose name by the way literally means "Snow White". I can feel a theory being born from this already but I'll leave that for another time.
Now, having clarified that the snowdrop is representative of Rukia it's time to analyze the next item on our list:
The Crossed Swords
Tumblr media
To start off the two swords we're looking at are both Ichigo's and yet one of them is actually Sode no Shirayuki. It's worth noticing that at the beginning of the series when Rukia lends her powers to Ichigo, the sword he carries all throughout the Substitute Shinigami arc is in fact Rukia's zanpakutō made bigger by his own insane amount of spiritual power. In case you don't believe me, here are the images:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fist image is from ch. 1 when she's offering her powers to Ichigo. The second one is after her fight with Aaroniero in ch. 269 after falling in battle and Shirayuki goes back to its sealed state. Now, this is Ichigo's sword during the first arc:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In order these are from ch. 1 when he's fighting his first hollow, ch. 5 when he's scolding Sora for trying to kill his own sister and ch. 55 when Byakuya finally attacks him after he trashes Renji. If you pay attention to the guard of the sword in both cases, you'll notice that it's the same, therefore confirming that for a while, Ichigo wielded Sode no Shirayuki albeit in its sealed state. The second sword is obviously Tensa Zangetsu that despite being later revealed as a creation of Yhwach by taking borrowed some of Ichigo's shinigami and hollow powers, it's undeniably a manifestation of Ichigo's power and thus a part of him.
Tumblr media
That would mean that the swords used in the novel's insignia are Sode no Shirayuki and Tensa Zangetsu, Rukia's and Ichigo's swords. Why is this relevant? Well, that's all because of the meaning of the position they are in.

Further on overcoming dejection and despair:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is so important because hundreds of chapters later Ichigo let us know that after all that time he still holds those words close to his heart and openly admits that they made him feel better despite being faced with the original source of his despair, showing us that Rukia’s words were a big factor in overcoming his pain. They can infuse courage and confidence in our minds:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her speech fills him with confidence and courage again when he was already at the brink of giving in into despair. It takes her just a few words to get him in fighting shape again and ready to give his all, she leaves no room for hesitation because that’s how much she believes in him and it’s her faith that pushes him to be his very best. At the end of it he's so uplifted he's even in the mood to quip back at her in playful annoyance.
They’re helpful to get rid of past pains and sorrows and they create opportunities to achieve happiness:
Tumblr media
She drained his rain —which we all know represents Ichigo’s despair and sorrow and has been present in his life ever since his mother died. This right here is Ichigo himself acknowledging that it is thanks to Rukia that he can finally leave that burden behind and by extension, allowing him to look forward to a bright and happy future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when he later falls into despair again, she’s right there to pick him up again and by restoring his powers she once again grants him the possibility of a bright future. Do note how it’s heavily raining in the first two panels and how the rain suddenly disappears as soon as he sees her —clearly, she represents a source of happiness so strong that even that which symbolizes his pain instantly disappears for him.  Part 1

The official IchiRuki symbol Pt. 2
The end of the harsh winter:
Tumblr media
「 The only thing that doesn’t change is my powerlessness. No matter how strong I get, I can’t protect them. The realization cuts my heart like cold steel.」 (Chapter 00 Side A, “The Sand”)
The arrival of spring and warmth to our lives (the power to protect):
Tumblr media
They express sympathy, purity, optimism and virtue:
Tumblr media
Rukia shows her virtue for the first time by taking the hit for Ichigo despite not even knowing him because it’s her duty to protect all souls equally. She also reclaims Kon because despite being defective he is a living being in her eyes and thus deserves protection too.
Tumblr media
She shows sympathy for Ichigo after she confronts him about the death of his mother. She feels awful afterwards because more than anyone, she knows what it’s like to blame oneself for the death of a loved one and knows that she overstepped a boundary that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Tumblr media
It’s by her virtue that later when he’s fighting Grand Fisher she stops herself from interfering because she knows that this battle is just too important for Ichigo and she must stay out of it. It’s hard for her too, but she holds back because she respects his feelings above all else.
Tumblr media
We also see her optimism after the Grand Fisher fight where even though Ichigo feels like he lost because he didn’t manage to finish him off, Rukia sees his survival as a victory and is grateful for it. This is not to say she didn’t care about his frustration at his incomplete revenge, but his life is so much more important to her now that Grand Fisher is gone.
Tumblr media
Once again it’s because of her virtue that she tries to go to him after Byakuya wounds him despite being warned by Renji that her sentence will only worsen if she does. She puts Ichigo’s safety and wellbeing above her own and she feels responsible for it and she’s willing to face the consequences for him.
These are just a couple of examples since there’s a lot of panels in the manga showing Rukia’s qualities and as for purity I didn’t point out anything in specific because I think that is shown through all of her actions —that is, she never lets anything or anyone influence her in what she believes to be just and right, she always sticks to her ethics and morals and thus she remains “untouched” by the rest of the world.
Going back to the snowdrops, they’re useful to overcome dejection and despair:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She reestablishes the boundaries of his feelings and how comfortable he is sharing them and lets him know that she won’t pry any further because she fears she’ll hurt his heart. She validates and recognizes his pain, respects him and his feelings and still leaves a door open in case he wants to talk about it. Part 1

The official IchiRuki symbol Pt. 1
I had been thinking for a while about how we were given an official symbol for IchiRuki by none other than Kubo himself in the The Death Saves The Strawberry novel, adding to the enormous pile of stuff we already have, so after a lot of slacking on my part and a little of forcing myself to finally put my ass to work, I decided to delve deeper into its meaning and did some research on what it represents, so I’d like to share what I found. Buckle up people, this is gonna be long.
Let’s start with the background:
Tumblr media
This is the insignia representing the 13th Division of the Gotei 13 and the one Rukia belongs to. Like all the other divisions’ insignias its design is based on a flower, in this case being the galanthus nivalis also commonly known as snowdrop.
Tumblr media
Its name derives from the greek words γάλα (gala) which means “milk” (making reference to its white color) and ἄνθος (anthos) which means “flower”. At the same time nivalis is an epithet derived from latin which means “of the snow”, so its name could also be read as “white flower of the snow”.
Known for blooming during the months between January and May and even being capable of doing it when the snow hasn’t disappeared yet, this flower symbolizes the beginning of something new due to its ability of blooming at the end of winter and announcing the start of spring, and regarding the latter, the hope that the harsh winter will end and that warmth will soon arrive to our lives.
Tumblr media
Snowdrops also serve to express sympathy, purity, optimism and virtue. It is believed that they’re useful to overcome dejection and despair, and that they can infuse courage and confidence in our minds. It is also said that they’re of assistance to get rid of past pains and sorrows, and that they create opportunities to achieve happiness.
Tumblr media
Also, due to its low growth rate and the fact that they tend to grow in graveyards a lot of people hold the belief that they represent death.
Tumblr media
In literature and popular culture it has been used several times as a symbol for spring, purity and religion. Most notably in the german tale “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, Snowdrop IS actually the original name for the princess.
What does it represent in BLEACH
Besides being the insignia for the 13th Division and its meaning (hope), due to the symbolism it carries it can be assumed that it holds a strong link in relation to Rukia.
Tumblr media
Starting off with the basics and trying not to complicate it too much, this flower is related to winter, to the snow and the color white (its predominant characteristic), all of them easily connected to her own special titles as well as the general theme of her powers.
Tumblr media
Her zanpakutô belongs to the ice/snow category and it’s described as the most beautiful in Soul Society with its blade, hilt and guard all of a pure and immaculate white.
Tumblr media
Likewise, she was bestowed with the title of “White Moon” which is visually reinforced during the series, always making an effort to point out the importance of the color white. This is how her close relationship to snow and ice is shown and consequently to the winter, as well to the white color which represents purity, innocence and mourning.
Tumblr media
Snowdrops symbolize the start of something new:

Two Weddings and a (future) Funeral
Pairing: Future GrimmIchiRuki
Rating: Soft T-ish for implied future violence, I guess?
Warning: Total crack. This is mezzo's fault.
Grimmjow came to both weddings. No one was certain who’d invited the blue haired former espada, but he didn’t seem inclined to start a fight, and more than one of the shinigami remarked that he cleaned up better than expected.
At Rukia’s wedding he stood near the back, wearing a pressed white suit and dark shirt, and watched the petite shinigami walk down the aisle. He caught the way Ichigo looked at her, soft and devastated. Hours later he danced with the bride, her petite hand resting in his much larger one.
“Why are you here?” she asked, as Grimmjow spun her. Her husband, the redhead, glared at him from the sidelines. Ichigo was more relaxed; he’d been the one to hand her off to him.
“We have a truce, ice princess,” he said lightly. “I’m just celebrating your marriage to your one true love.” He didn’t miss the way she looked at Ichigo instead of Renji. Or the way her hand tightened in his.
Ichigo’s wedding almost two years later was a rushed affair; Grimmjow wore the same suit and stood on the groom’s side. Rumor had it that there was a bun in the oven of the bride, and not the kind made at the bakery.
“I’m not going to fight with you today, Grimmjow,” Ichigo said severely. His bright hair was cut short and slicked back, body wrapped in the heavy black fabric of his wedding kimono.
“Nah. Just here to pay my respects and watch you marry the woman you love.” A smirk played at Grimmjow’s lips. He didn’t miss the way Ichigo looked at the little shinigami (or at him). “Congratulations, Kurosaki.”
Ichigo flinched.
He didn’t see either of them for a few years after that, not until the Soul Society decided to have some kind of ten-year commemoration for the war. It was supposed to be solemn, but Grimmjow had forgotten just how much shinigami loved to drink.
He ended up sprawled on a cushion with Ichigo and Rukia on either side of him, tie unraveled and his jacket undone, revealing the scar the substitute shinigami had given him years ago. A rocks glass dangled from Ichigo’s fingertips. Rukia looked prim and put together in an irotomesode as always, if he ignored the way she leaned against his shoulder.
“Give me a few years,” he said, and Ichigo blinked up at him blearily.
“Huh?”
“I guarantee I’ll be your second spouse.” Grimmjow was proud of the fact that he didn’t slur his words despite having drunk half a bottle of shochu.
“What’s going to happen to his first spouse?” Rukia drawled, the word spouse slurring from her mouth.
Grimmjow scanned the crowd for the woman; she was happily chattering with the Arisawa woman. The redhead was doing shots with some of his shinigami buddies. “Nothing anyone can prove,” he said casually.
“What about Rukia?” And yeah, Ichigo was drunk as hell, too, if he wasn’t making a fuss about his threat to kill Orihime.
“Tch. Yeah, I’m taking the ice princess too. No rules against having a husband and a wife in Hueco Mundo,” Grimmjow mused. “She’s prettier ‘n you anyway.”
Ichigo hummed his agreement.
“…And the children?”
“Your kid’s got big chaos energy, I like her,” Grimmjow decided. “Dunno why Kurosaki’s kid is such a hell gremlin, though.”
Ichigo took a sip from his glass. “Tell me about it,” he muttered.
“You sure he’s yours?”
“I should hit you for implying Ino—Orihime would cheat,” Ichigo drawled. But his head fell against Grimmjow’s shoulder. “Maybe tomorrow when I’m sobered up.”
“Heh. Sure, Kurosaki.” Grimmjow took another sip from his glass. Maybe he could beat the shit out of the redhead and leave him in the Forest of Menos. As for the healer... Grimmjow huffed. "She's not even going to be a fight," he mumbled, irritated.

Still annoyed with the Nice IchiRuki TM vibe I'm getting from this fandom lately
About not being toxic and accepting the ending and the canon ships and other stuff
My guys, who are you trying to impress?
The antis? Because, guess what, no matter how nice you play it, you're still going to get hate just because you like IR
Are you trying to separate yourselves from us oldies in the fandom?
Just be happy you joined the fandom after the ending and most wars were over, and you never got sent death threats and death wishes on a daily basis just because you liked a different ship. And this didn't happen just in the last few years. It was already happening when I joined this fandom in 2009 and it went on after 2016. It wasn't just one instance and just one person. And you guys being like "here's my unpopular opinion about the ending. I actually liked it!" or "I understand why it happened and Kubo was right!" and tagging thins i/chihime and wanting to be applaud seems disingenuous to me.
I'm glad some of you liked the ending or can accept it. Some of us don't particularly care anymore either even if we're not vocal about it, because, really, what's the damn point? Me expressing my opinion on it doesn't change things at all. Is it for brownie points? Because, wow, that's kinda low.
Again, just like the fanart and the fics and just let it be. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and the reason why some people still hate the ending in its entirety with a burning passion has a lot to do with the fact that Bleach was our comfort manga for so long. If you weren't here, waiting each week to read the new chapter, and it wasn't the highlight of your week, you simply cannot understand what it meant to some folks, people who were still young at the time or younger than they are now anyway. Reading it all on one go is much different than reading it week after week for years. And I'm happy you liked the ending or understand it or simply don't care. But someone disliking an ending doesn't necessarily make a person toxic. People over the internet have been using this word too lightly over the years imo, especially when it is used to describe unhealthy relationships in real life. Also, don't call people psycopaths. That's not nice and it is another way in which you guys use a real life condition that people cannot help to denigrate others. It's no different from calling a person a r*tard and other such words.
I really just wanted to say this because nope, you guys are not impressing anyone, and I honestly don't feel comfortable with the IR fandom any longer if people are going to act like this.
I'll disappear into the void now
Happy IR Month I gues...

Note
That anaversary aizen looks absolutely fabulous, he looks like a figure skater xd.
I heard along time ago the last arc of the anime was being animated finally bc they pulled a 90s sailor moon were the last season was not either animated or dubbed untill decades later.
I recall near the end of the current 366 episodes there was an episode were the creapy demon ppl woke up in hell and we're all bitter, and there was the other guy who was like, iM cOmEiNg FoR u IChIgO, but then is never mentioned again after and I'm like,why? Why is lt there just plopted randomly into a different arc that seams unrelated.
And locking aizen up underground seems ok, but It deff won't hold, and he will. Escape, and he will kill, you either need that one spell from star, dubbed, the darkest spell of moon the undaunted, a powerfull dark spell that killed immortal beings, that came from best character, eclipsa, the queen of darkness.
We need that.
Or stick him I'm crystal like eclipsa was in star. Is there no one who could trap him in ice or crystal for all eternity.
How about throw him into the centre of a volcano trapped and caged , forverr being killed by heat?
I assume there's space travel, send I'm into a black whole, were a black whole don't fuckin care if your immortal or fat, you will die
:3
Yes, I love anniversary Aizen. His original octopus-butterfly hollow design was ugly so I'm glad he's back to being the fashion icon he is.
Locking Aizen up underground once is one thing, doing it twice after saying he got more powerful by just sitting there, and he escaped to battle the Quincy Soul King God... is another. I think he should have escaped at the end of the Quincy arc. That is the only feasibility.
I heard the anime is coming back for the Quincy arc as well, but because of COVID its probably going to be delayed. (I'm not gonna watch it until the Rain section of the arc then I'm dipping out. I'm only here for Zangetsu)
and funny that you mention that hell scene in the manga :)
-> spoilers for the new BLEACH 73 page anniversary chapter / thoughts/critique on it
So hey you had a premonition! Syazel .... returned? And his hole is outside of his body??? for some reason???
(I didn't understand the explanation or why / how that happens and what that means for the hollow)
And my friend and I were laughing because out of ALL the things. Kubo could do in this anniversary. He gave Syazel his dick back after going to hell. That is iconic. (that's where his hole was located, and now that its not on his body ... well...) This is the funniest thing Kubo has EVER pulled. Kudos to you, sir.
The entire internet is freaking out over Ukitake being in hell. Honestly Kubo has done far worse, and we've established that Soul Society is a corrupt system that hasn't changed, so I'm not surprised he would pull something like this.
At the same time, Kubo 1. cheated his audience. 2. continues to prove me right that he cannot bring himself to kill his characters
1. Hollows who have commit murder in their human life are sent to hell. Syazel and Aaorniero are two of these hollows, and yet, when they are killed, there is NO gates of hell scene. We see them there later in the hell chapter (which was more of a promotion for the fourth movie and I didn't believe it would hold any merit)
But the same goes for Ukitake. We never see the gates of hell take him. What, was hell late? Did hell's gates get lost like an uber before picking him up? It's bull. Withholding such vital information from your audience, not showing the gates of hell when they should pick up this soul IMMEDIATELY is ... I mean its a lie. Kubo lied to his audience.
2. Now we are told powerful shinigami are sent to hell when they die. First of all that sounds like a security threat. Wouldn't shinigami want revenge for that? Or attempt to escape? Why would they still hold loyalty after being sent to a prison of eternal suffering?
Also "Yhwach and Aizen" were the only ones keeping Hell's gates closed is way too convenient and doesn't really make any sense. I feel like Aizen should have deliberately gone to hell to retrieve powerful shinigami / hollows for his army instead of keeping it /closed/.
This is definitely a Kubo-doesn't-know-what-he's-doing-and-is -making- stuff-up-as-he-goes, but it might have a pinch of merit because of previous plot lines.... but either way, there's some big plot holes here, but again, its Kubo, so I expected nothing less.
Again, he can't kill off his characters. He introduced zombification, he introduced immortality through the hougyoku, he has Orihime and Hachigen's reversal / rejection abilities. He brought back Luppi, friggen.... a character who's entire upper half of his body was incinerated. Like.... come on. No. He's dead, you can't bring him back like that. That's a cop out and just weird. You're taking away consequences and grief.
(Also Yamamoto and Unohana deserve to be in hell far over Ukitake, they've done some fcked up stuff in their pasts unlike him)
Also Kubo's favorite character is Mayuri, which.... you're allowed to have a favorite problematic character. But Keeping said character alive and bared from the consequences of abusing his daughter, murdering innocents, and experimenting on your own squad members? Nah. Nope. Kill him, Kubo. Kill this dude.
(his weird attachment to Mayuri is probably why he keeps bringing Syazel back, since Syazel is Mayuri 2.0, but Syazel is the bad guy who does face consequences for his actions while Mayuri is not)
~
Also, I'm certain Kazui and Orihime are going to be THRILLED that their precious husband/dad is going to hell when he dies :)
(I just... Rukia teased Ichigo about leaving Orihime at home. She teased him about having a house wife who he leaves all the chores to. Orihime had two panels. She checks on her son who promised he would be at home and sleep. Kazui fcking breaks his promise like it never mattered to him and JUMPS out the window after pretending to sleep in front of his mother. ... An 8 year old... alone... in the middle of the night.)
Orihime is abandoned. She is not invited to SS, she is not informed of what is going on, her son leaves her.... I...
Orihime is a side character. She doesn't matter anymore. She hasn't mattered for a long, long time.
A part of me is glad she had little screen time, since she tends to waste it, but another part of me is embroiled with rage.
I've even see people try to defend this. "Orihime and Ichigo can't be together ALL the time, that's an unhealthy relationship!" and I'm like guys... that's not the point. The point is Orihime is not part of Ichigo's other life. Any shinigami stuff from now on is none of her business. She's going to stay at home while Kazui and Ichigo go off and save the world. Ichigo is going to be fighting by Rukia and Renji while Orihime watches from the sidelines, or worse, doesn't even know what is going on with her husband and son. Orihime is going to be uninformed and abandoned, because she has not proven she is capable of fighting by their sides(go on, @ me. I will fight this. She's a failure.), and also because she prefers a human life over a dead one. Which is ironic, because she married a dead man. Ichigo is a shinigami, and he will be one forever. god forbid she ever meets his Zanpaktou. She would tremble in fear at the monsters her husband harbors in his soul, especially when she realizes they don't care about her and would rather see her dead. (Zangetsu would absolutely kill Orihime. Not sure about Kazui, but Orihime has not accepted Zangetsu, she does not like either of them, and the feeling is assuredly mutual.) frick now I want to make a comic about this
Also still frustrated over Zangetsu's shikai / bankai regression. Kubo once again lied to his audience. Ichigo has no bankai. How ridiculous is that? The main character of BLEACH doesn't have a bankai. Insulting.
(RIP to Chad. He doesn't exist anymore. He's just gone. No mention, no cameo. Gone.)
Kazui is a demon child. That character from the novels? Hikone? They're the same character. Literally same personality, same power level. Its worse because Kazui is a liar. He constantly goes behind his parents' backs. He can summon creepy fish and creepy eyeballs and open portals like is ANYONE aware of this? How has SS not kidnapped Ichigo's son and experimented on him / locked away his powers yet? All substitute shinigami require a reiatsu controlling / spy badge to keep them in line. Where is Kazui's? Or is he just a weird fullbringer?
I was worried Kubo was gonna try and pull a knock off Boruto but luckily he kept the focus on Ichigo and the others. But that being said, Ichika and Kazui are now just... sort of there? Kazui was kinda just.... having his own adventure that doesn't matter to the plot at hand, and Ichika had some nice characterization at first but she just hid behind her dad the whole time.
I have a feeling Kazui is gonna step in at the last minute or do some major behind the scenes thing that indirectly interferes with the main plot so no one will realize how powerful and dangerous he actually is. Its sad because Ichika is the superior character in personality and likability, but she clearly is not going to have a bigger part in this.
Ichigo having a normal life after everything still feels extremely boring and uncomfortable to me. Everyone's like 'I'm still bLEACH!" but.... BLEACH just... doesn't feel like BLEACH anymore. It hasn't for a while now.

There's two new shinigami characters. Didn't care for the girl, but the Sign Language kid who talks to animals is adorable ... however... he just reminds me of Chad, and I just... it hurts knowing Chad has essentially been deleted. Chad and Orihime are officially benched. They have chosen the human world, and Orihime has given Ichigo his spawn so she has no more use/purpose to him anymore... ////sigh
~~~
Also. This is claimed to be a new "arc". So is the BLEACH manga coming back? What is happening. I thought Kubo was tired and didn't want to do BLEACH anymore. I thought Shounen Jump cut him off. People made so many excuses for Kubo and why the past two arcs have been so badly written the past 6 years and now almost everything they've attempted to defend him with has been revoked.
BLEACH is going to continue to screw up its plot lines and characters, so Its probably best for it to stay dead but I've seen a lot of Kubo stans drooling over this content, they're desperate for BLEACH's return, but its already given out all its possible revelations. There's really nothing else to top here. It's just going to make things up as it goes along ,and I'm not really here for half-assed writing like that, especially since the damage of rushing the previous manga has already been done. Kubo and Shounen Jump are riding off a money nostalgia. None of this was planned.
Honestly though.... overall feeling of this chapter, not as bad as it could have been.
Syazel stole the spotlight, and he's my friend's favorite character, so that's all that really matters.
On the subject of Rukia’s feelings towards Ichigo
I have wanted to make this post for a while now. The previous repost(it touches upon Ichigo’s feelings towards Rukia), I think that would be logical. I doubt noone has made a similar post, but who cares) With so many people losing faith in Ichiruki, I would like to state the obvious(well, maybe not for everyone) What IH fans like to say is “Only Or|hime has feelings for Ichigo that have been canonically stated”. But is it true? Do we count only “I love you”s?  I mean, we, Ichiruki fans, clearly see the romantic undertone is Rukia’s facial expressions and actions. But let’s talk about that one scene at the beginning of the manga. We all remember that episode where Rukia is having lunch with her female classmates, when one of them asks her, point blank, if she likes Ichigo and what their relationship is. She answers “He’s just a friend. No love”. What catches my attention is Rukia’s expression, when she answers that question(of course followed by Rukia herself thinking, that it doesn’t matter if she likes him, or hates him. Also meaning - it doesn’t matter what she feels towards him. Why would she think about that? Because it stroke a chord with her. Because she does in fact have feelings for him. She might be in denial, she might herself not fully fealise what those feelings are. Some would argue “yeah, she got attached, those are feelings toward a friend”. But those aren’t feelings toward a friend. And Kubo makes sure to show us that “Just a friend” is a lie. Rukia is lying (Why do I think that? Please keep reading) . Because the feelings she has for him are very strong. Already at that point they were very strong. And she tried to push them down. She knows she has to leave all of them, to cut the ties. And that is why she says “it’s troublesome” . And they are not just friendship feelings, because amonst the things that she has to cut herself from she names “love”. Why mention that at all? If there is no love to trouble her. But love does come to her mind after they ask her about him. Again, why would she think about it? If she doesn’t have any romantic feelings for him. She could have answered that they are friends(without lying) and think about how she got attached to him and his world, without even thinking about “love”. But Kubo deliberately chose to phrase her inner monologue this way. Remember it is her inner monologue. It is the most truth we can see about a character. It is a tool for an authour to show his/her chracters’ true, most intimate feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why do I say, that Rukia is lying? Because that is her LYING FACE.  I want to touch a little bit apon that face. You see her with closed eyes and smiling? And the thought that is on the next panel, which is “saddening emotion” - opposite of smiling. Kubo makes us focus on her eyes, and decides not to draw the smile, because the truth is that she doesn’t want to smile. She’s sad that she has to leave Ichigo, her classmates, that town. It is a flashback, because when we see this story she’s actually already on the run. But she still was sad at that moment, because she had already decided to run, she was already worried(that is shown on her face before the girls find her. She’s sitting on a tree with a worried expression) that someone from SS would come after her and hurt Ichigo in the process. So that was a fake smile, no doubt. And it being a flashback gives it even more weight as evidence. Because she was running away and thinking about that moment, out of all the moments, when girls asked her what she felt toward Ichigo. That question, for her, just had really bad timing, making her think about what she really felt for him and how hard it was for her to leave him. And when she was thinking about it, she thought about love. She was so lost in this thought that she didn’t notice Renji and her brother.
Tumblr media
Now, Rukia’s lying face. So she first does that when she meets Inoue, and doesn’t even remember that they’re in the same class
Tumblr media
Whereas Ichigo comments that this is a character that she plays, it’s a lie, it’s not her true self, nor her true thoughts. Which we also can see here
Tumblr media
and here
Tumblr media
And maybe the most famous
Tumblr media
Followed by this comment from Ichigo(who obviously knows her very well)
Tumblr media
Liar liar - pants on fire, Rukia!
Want more proof? That’s not only her lying face. That the universal lying face in Bleach. We can take such character as Ichimaru Gin(my heart still aches), and that was his permanent face. And what did he turn out to be? A freaking LIAR! He lied to everyone. Even Aizen. His only honest moments were with Rangiku. And then we can take Urahara, who’s famous for that look, with eyes covered in shadows, and he’s a shady guy. I love him, but he’s a liar too.  Or this for example
Tumblr media
Ichigo is trying to hide his depression, and he’s faking a smile. And that morning the day before the anniversary of his mother’s death is not good.
Or take a look at that
Tumblr media
They both have that face. I would really call it “Gin face”. Maybe not 100% of the time(like Or|hime and Ichigo’s mom) that face is a face of a lying person in Bleach, but damn that happens a lot. And It happens with Rukia.
So my conclusion is, following Ichigo’s fullbring, that not only does Ichigo have canon, but just not voiced out, feelings of love toward Rukia, but so does Rukia. They didn’t voice them out, maybe they don’t fully understand them yet, or they are just ignoring those feelings because they don’t know what to do with them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have them. Because Kubo used more subtle ways to convey them. He did say in one of his interviews that he touched upon Ichigo and Rukia’s feeling at the beginning of the manga, but then changed the focus to other characters. But with the movie fade to black he was reminded how beautiful their relationship was.
As much as some people believe that the ultimate form of showing someone’s love for another is by making them say it out loud, it isn’t. It is great, and some confessions are beautiful, while some confessions are just awful and sloppy(if you’ve ever read V for Vendetta comics, you know what I’m talking about).
But Bleach is 1) not a shoujo manga, 2)Ichigo and Rukia are just not those characters that say “ I love you” out loud. They are both like Robin Scherbatsky from How I Met Your Mother. Ted(the guy, who dated her for a year and knew her very well) describes her like this
“She doesn’t say “I love you” like a normal person. Instead, she’ll laugh, shake her head, give you a little smile and say “You’re an idiot””
So not only do they HAVE feelings for each other those feelings are MUTUAL
If you have read till this point, just let me say “thank you very much” and “I love you” And I hope, you find what I say logical and true. *mic drop*
Masashi Ku*Do made a post on twitter explaining a bit how and why he was chosen to work for the Bleah anime. It's all in jp so it's mostly what I got from google translator, take that into consideration. It seems he did some kind of contest for the character desing for bleah he drew Ichigo, Rukia, Ishida and Inoue and submitted that. He was chosen by the what is now jump editor (probably others too) BUT the best part is why Kubo's choose him and it's because the decisive factor was that "he was able to draw Ori/hime sensually".
Tumblr media
Should I even comment? I am not going too tbh, I have no energy anymore at this point and no good words to spare lmao Few jp IR shippers I follow, they're always respectful, but them too this time they went "Really???" that's the reason you choose someone to work on the anime? What about Ichigo the protagonist? Or some reason IDK more freaking important and relevant??? The frekaing important part is obv in my own words LMAO but they're saying something along those lines. One even said they're tired of it, I think it's refered to Ku*bo's bullshit. They're on private tho so maybe that's why they even complained in the first place.
Really tho I can't blame them, I personally feel so stupid to have praised this man (ku*bo) so many times, when he was really just a freaking pervert from the start.
EDIT: I wanted to add that it’s amazing how KuDo ended up being the one to give us counltess of IchiRuki goodies.
Honestly, I'm an Orihime fan, but it pisses me off a lot when I/H fans act like her ending up with anyone else (esp Ishida or Ulquiorra) would be so terrible for her. She and Ishida have more common interests? Ishida is just as handsome as Ichigo? And she had greater impact on Ulquiorra than she did Ichigo! And both guys literally protected and prioritized her well-being more than Ichigo did! How does any of this sound "cruel" for Orihime?
I'm not even gonna answer I'm just gonna show directly what some IH think of that
Tumblr media
She would be a W**re if she falls for another guy. Welcome to the 1200 or 1400? Or IDK you choose.
