The sound of heels clicking against marble floor echoed throughout the empty hallway. Arms were crossed over a blue military uniform, long and lucious, curled mocha colored locks swaying with each step.

Only a couple of weeks ago did the military take in another state alchemist. She didn’t seem to have a specific specialty, except for how elaborate her creations are and how large her range is. That and, of course, how she could somehow use alchemy without a transmutation circle…

There were very few alchemists who could do such a thing, and even fewer state alchemists, such as the FullMetal Alchemist.

And now, the Shadowed Alchemist, named after her use of shading light and using dark materials in how she accomplishes her goals.

The new State Alchemist, Kira Black, had just recieved her first mission—or, at least, she was going to be given one. She was now on her way to her superior, the Flame Alchemist, to receive her first assignment. Apparently, she was to be working with another, the only other state Alchemist who could use alchemy without a transmutation circle. Kira was more of a lone wolf herself, so she wasn’t quite sure about this arrangement.

The Alchemist sighed, her fist hovering over the door to Roy Mustang’s office. This was it… Everything is different now.

Knock knock knock.

‘You got to be fucking kidding me.’

“A partner?” Edward hissed, and the flame of his fury was such, it almost set his superior’s office on fire.

Colonel Roy Mustang was unfazed by this. “Yes, a partner”, he repeated, as if Edward hadn’t heard right or something. Oh, he had. He was just pissed. 

“I’M NOT ABOUT TO WORK WITH ANYONE ELSE!” He declared, gesturing like a madman towards the door. For years now, it had always been his brother and him, and though the ocasional military officer had done to team up during missions, he’d never had a partner before. Logic was heavy on that, his discomfort of having someone else stuck on a mission with the duo horrifying, and the stupid bastard didn’t seemed to care. “I’VE TOLD YOU, I DON’T NEED A NANNY!!!!”

“Brother...” Alphonse whimpered in the background, hand around Edward’s arm in a firm, but loose hold. There was no way he would hurt him, but also no way that the angry blond would have a chance to wound his superior. Judging by the boiling fury inside his body, he seemed in danger of third degree murder.

Mustang was not impressed. 

At the sound of knocking, he had the audacity to ignore Edward and make wis way trough the office, towards the entrance. Gloved hands turned the handle, and the door was opened. 

“Welcome, Miss. Kira,” he greeted.
