Jellie tends to be a very curious cat, sometimes. She likes poking her nose into places it doesn’t belong, or snatching things from Scar and Grian when they catch her interest.
Maybe Scar should’ve known better, then.
He sits in his and Grian’s bedroom (it’s been theirs pretty much after the second month Scar moved in), a ring in his hands. The metal is cool against his palm, a soft rose gold. The band isn’t anything special, a simple engraving in it. Scar knew Grian would throw a fit if he found out Scar spent so many diamonds on the ring. So he tried to get something reasonable.
He can spoil Grian with the actual ring.
If he says yes, that is. Just the thought makes a shiver run of Scar’s spine. Is he really doing this? He and Grian have only been together for a year and a half, but Scar just knows that he’s the one. There isn’t any doubt in his mind about it. But does Grian feel the same?
Jellie jumps up on the bed next to Scar, meowing at him. She brushes her head against his arm as she settles beside him, and Scar smiles. “Well hello there beautiful lady. Are we requesting pets?” he teases as he brushes a hand through her fur. She curls up close to him, leaning into his touch. Scar sighs softly, scratching behind her ear. “I don’t know Jellie… do you think he’ll say yes?” he asks quietly. She stares blankly up at him. “Yeah okay, fair enough.”
Past their bedroom, the front door opens and shuts. “Scar, I’m home!”
Scar jumps up, disturbing a content Jellie. He shoots her an apologetic look, giving her one last pet. But the most crucial piece?
He makes the mistake of leaving the engagement ring on the bed.
As Scar walks out the room to greet his boyfriend, Jellie takes to making their bed her own. Yet as she moves, the shiny ring catches her attention. She tilts her head, curious about the shiny object. Sticking a paw out, she swats it. Again. And again. And again. Until the ring tips over the side of the bed, dropping to the floor with a ‘plop.’
Her pupils widen in that playful way they tend to do, wiggling before she pounces.
Oblivious to what his cat is doing, Scar is sweeping his boyfriend into a hug. “How was work?” he questions, looking down at Grian with a curious yet soft gaze.
“Tiring,” Grian huffs, content to melt into Scar’s grasp. He lifts his arms, returning the embrace as he does so. “I had to remake the blueprint at least five times until the guy was happy with it.”
Scar winces, “Eesh. Now I’m kind of glad he only wanted you to meet with him.”
Grian glowers at him in return, though the look is entirely playful. “Yeah, yeah.” He leans up, brushing their lips together in a soft kiss. “Consider yourself lucky.”
“I think I will, thank you.” Scar grins, stealing a kiss. “How does a movie and dinner sound?” He bumps their noses together as he smiles.
“Let me think about it,” Grian hums, booping his nose against Scar’s as he does so. “As long as there’s ice cream after.”
Scar lets out an affronted gasp, pulling away. “I’m offended you think there wouldn’t be ice cream after all!” he says as he walks toward the kitchen. “Go sit! I’ll grab the takeout leftovers.”
Laughing, Grian takes his shoes off and heads over into their living room. He finds Jellie there, playing with something caught between her paws. He fondly shakes his head at her, “What do you have now, miss?”
Jellie looks up at him with a meow as she swats at whatever it is she’s deemed her new toy, chasing at it. However, said mystery object knocks into Grian’s foot, and he gets it first.
Leaning down, Grian picks up what appears to be a rose gold ring. He inspects it in his hand, eyebrows knit together as he does. “Where did this come from?” He blinks at it, looking down at Jellie. “Did you rob someone?”
Jellie sits in front of him, slowly blinking. The perfect picture of innocence.
Shaking his head with a faint laugh, Grian looks at the ring again. His heart skips a beat as he really takes in the detail of it. He certainly didn’t buy it. Did Scar? And if he did then….
Heart a little louder, he turns to his boyfriend. “Hey, Scar?”
“Yes, love of my life?”
“Any clue what this is?”
Scar walks into the living room, the soft crackles of a furnace behind him. He pauses when he notices what Grian is holding in his hand. His eyes go wide, looking a little pale. To the side of Grian, he spots the movement of Jellie’s tail, and looks directly at her. “Traitor,” he mutters.
“Scar?” Grian questions, confused and… maybe a bit nervous.
“Haha uh… any chance we can forget this all happened and revisit it like. Next month?” Scar weakly chuckles, the epitome of nerves as he looks at Grian.
“What’s going on?” Grian’s brows furrow in confusion, a bit of concern leaking into his expression.
Scar knows trying to lie about it is practically pointless. Grian is too curious and too stubborn to let it go. And now that he’s seen the ring… Scar takes in a shaky breath. “Void, alright. Guess we’re doing this.”
He walks over to Grian, “May I?” He gestures for the ring, and Grian slowly nods. He hands the ring over to Scar, who accepts it with shaking hands. “Okay.” Scar sucks in a breath, unbelieving that he’s really doing this right now.
Slowly, Scar drops down on one knee in front of Grian, watching the way the other’s eyes go wide. But something about the position doesn’t feel quite right. Brows furrowing, Scar sets his other knee on the carpet below. “G? Mind kneeling with me here?” he asks, to which Grian nods. He joins Scar on the carpet, kneeling with him as well. “Much better,” he hums, pleased.
“Scar what?” Grian questions, lost and confused, and goodness his heart is beating so fast.
“I uh, I had a whole thing planned out, but Jellie seems to have thrown a wrench into all that,” Scar chuckles. “But it’s fine! I can improvise, who needs a plan?” He does. He needs a plan. Shaking his head, Scar reaches for one of Grian’s hands, grasping it in his own. He takes a measured breath, and begins to speak.
“I love you. More than words will ever be able to describe, G. You’ve done so much for me, more than I think I’ll ever be able to thank you for. You found me on the street, and despite being scammed by me, you still offered me a roof to live under, and a home to heal in.” Grian’s eyes are focused on him, listening with rapt attention. His gaze only worsens Scar’s nerves, heart beating a mile a minute. “You’re stubborn and witty, and sometimes you steal the blanket from me.”
Grian laughs.
Scar loves the sound.
“You don’t let me wallow in self pity, or memories of the harder times. You’re endlessly kind to both myself and Jellie, and everyone around you, even if your patience runs a little thin and you get snippy. We may get into a minor disagreement here and there, but you always come back around to me.” Scar smiles softly at him, so painfully fond and loving. “Back on that world… I never thought I would get to live life again. Or even enjoy the night sky without being afraid. It felt like a part of me was always missing, but I found that part with you.”
“Scar…” Grian trails off, face going red.
“G, you’re my home, my light. I want to spend every day waking up next to you and messing up pancake batter with you,” Scar laughs, the sound wet and shaky. Grian laughs with him, sounding just as affected. “I want to hold you on your bad days, and on your good ones. I want to be there through everything, for the rest of our lives. You’ve reminded me what it’s like to live and love, what it’s like to be me. There’s no one else for me, my heart and souls are yours.”
Scar swallows, holding the ring out to him. “So… will you entangle your life with mine forever? And marry me?” His expression turns bashful as he asks, and Grian is red in the face.
“You…” he trails off, amazed and in disbelief all at once. He looks between Scar and the ring, and he shakes his head. “I’ve been trying for days to find the perfect way of proposing to you, and you go and pull the rug right out from under me,” he laughs. “Curse how perfect you are sometimes.”
“C’mon G, you’re really leaving me hanging here!” Scar whines at him, making Grian laugh all over again.
Grian wraps his arms around Scar’s shoulders, pressing their lips together. “Yes, you spoon. I don’t want anyone else. Just you.”
If their neighbors hear how loudly Scar yells, well… it’s a warm congratulations to the newly engaged couple.
Jellie watches her humans cry in each others arms, tail flicking lazily at her side. She better get extra treats for this.
(It’s only later, when they’re sitting on the couch, curled into each other, that Scar realizes what Grian said. He turns to him, “Wait, you were planning to propose too?”
Grian snorts with laughter, “Hadn’t even picked out a ring, but yes Scar, I was.”)

“Grian! Do you have a second to spare?” Scar calls out, poking his head into the entrance of the avian’s vertical mine.
Grian lifts his head up from the chest he had been rearranging. “It depends,” he teases, “are you gonna try to sell me some junk?”
Scar lets out an affronted gasp, jerking back with a hand on his chest. “Junk?! I sell only the finest quality of things!”
“Sure, sure,” Grian chuckles as he shuts the lid of the chest, leaning against it as he crosses his arms. “Then depending on what it is you want to show me, I have a second.”
Scar’s face brightens, those green eyes sparkling. “Great! There’s something I want to show you!” He takes a step closer to Grian, expression still bright — almost grossly fond.
“Oh?” Grian tilts his head to the side (an action that is far too birdlike, much to Scar’s amusement). “And that is?”
“Well I can’t just tell you! It’d ruin the surprise!” Scar retorts, scandalized. He takes another step closer until they’re a few inches apart, one of Scar’s hands settling on Grian’s hip. “Do you trust me?”
“What kind of question is that?” Grian lifts a brow, amused. “Not with my belongings. Everything else? Of course.”
“Great!” Scar grins at him before he leans in, brushing their noses together sweetly. The action startles Grian, as he jolts, mouth falling open as he looks up at the other with confusion.
“What?” He blinks.
“It’s a bunny kiss!” Scar cheerfully explains.
Grian’s face only pinches in further confusion. “A what kiss?”
“A bunny kiss!” the scarred man repeats. “We’re booping our noses together in a kiss! Cute right?” Scar’s happy smile doesn’t leave his face, looking more fond by the second.
There’s a burst of warmth in Grian’s chest at that, and he stares at Scar. “…do it again,” he requests, making Scar laugh.
He leans in once more, bumping his nose against Grian’s. Grian gently bumps his nose back, delighting in the pleased chuckle that sounds from Scar.
Bunny kisses may just be one of his new favorite things. Next to Scar, of course.

I think after I posted this I figured out what would be a good way to sort of kick things off. :'D
Now to write it and see how I like it.
Wanted to start writing the first chapter for this Mumscarian thing, but I feel it's a very lacklustre first chapter aside from sort of setting up the rough story. Maybe it needs a mysterious bit of cliffhanger to add a little spice to what I'd probably call the set-up chapter dskgh

GRUMBO WEEK DAY 3 - " Nightmare " @grumboweek
"read more" at your own discretion. messy+wordy explanation of the concept coming:) .
.
.
pardon me for being late but i really couldn't stand leaving this looking unfinished so. had to spend a bittt more time on it (might even post for grumbo week even after the event's over if thats okay!!)
we all got over the progression from their friendship to their betrayal of eachother in Last Life too soon. i need people to mourn with me
"Nightmare" made my mind immediately jump to the series that waffle duo really got their share of angst from, Last Life. How an unbreakable bond of friendship strengthened by literally passing eachother something as valuable as a life so quickly crumbled into them both betraying eachother in the end, a Nightmare scenario that the two of them would've never even considered for sure. even grian, who upon turning red was still clinging onto the hope that their bond was so strong that mumbo would join him as a redname. (concept) even red mumbo, who in his last ditch desperation tried reigniting post-red yellow life grian's humanity by giving him the spyglass, the southlander's physical embodiment of their friendship, only for grian to crush it mercilessly ,,,,,,,,,
anyway for this piece i tried real hard to cram in as much symbolism and imagery and intent behind my lines and colors as possible, so heres some of it! (theres more but thats on you to figure out!)
Composition + just some of the details : the main concept that i really wanted to drive home is the use of the SPYGLASS as symbolism for the progression of their bond throughout Last life, up until the end. yellow-side grian holds up a spyglass, looking towards the right
day4 past and future concepts ahead the spyglass extends through the past to the present, like a solid line of sight into the future before its unfortunately crushed by red-side grian (him shutting down any friendship or reconciliation from mumbo) mumbo, back against the future, faced twoards the past, reaching his spyglass out looking for who his friend was, only to see a cracked figure of him staring back grian, faced towards the future in both drawings, but also looking back at mumbo, with different emotions but both with the same desire to move forward, one with adoration and another with the desire to move on from mumbo's dead body and focus on self-preservation. he knew he had to move on, and he was right.
SOUTHLANDERS BADGE: mostly for visual interest! but also unlike the spyglass, is an unremovable physical reminder for post-red grian (literally lodged deep into his shoulder)
CLIPPED WINGS: i felt like i had to mention that they're supposed to look clipped in the second drawing:) "HE NEEDS TO LEARN" was a real quote that was directed at both jimmy and mumbo, but we gotta adapt pfft ,,, this post is long. LOng long. i should stop. special SPECIAL thanks to my dearest @justrelaxhere for their hours worth of dissection of my drawing! god i could always count on them to squeeze every drop of symbolism out of my work. without them i wouldn'tve been able to fully articulate my ideas! okay thanks for reading people:D

“You tricked me!” Grian’s voice lifts in pitch as he yells. He’s spent all day hunting for that scarred merchant who sold him that ‘wooden cutting board.’ Grian’s not the sort to get so easily scammed, but the merchant had been… very nice looking. He managed to find him after practically running through the Hypixel hub all day.
For his part, the man looks startled by Grian’s arrival, green eyes nervously flicking around their surroundings. No one bats an eye at them. He looks at Grian, “Ah! You’re the red sweater guy from a few days ago! How’s that cutting board treating you?” He smiles, all smooth and polite.
It makes Grian growl with frustration. “You said it was wooden, but the second I went to use it, the whole thing crumbled to dust!” The scarred man blinks at him, feigning some kind of concern. It makes Grian want to grab him by the shoulders and shake him around. “You scammed me out of my diamonds.”
“Why I’d never scam! Everything I have to sell,” he gestures to the large pouch at his feet, “is completely authentic! If you want another cutting board I could—”
“I want my diamonds back,” Grian interrupts him, not even giving him another chance to smooth talk his way into Grian’s wallet. Not again. He’s not letting this handsome guy have his way with him again!
The merchant winces in return, quickly covering it up with a smile, “I’m afraid it was non-refundable! I’d be happy to give you another product in exchange?” He tilts his head before his eyes light up. “How about a couple of rare magic crystals? Or an enchanted book? I have a one of a kind fishing rod with so much luck, a fisherman once found Atlantis because of it!”
Grian’s eyebrow twitches in annoyance, “How in Void’s name did I let you talk your way into making me buy anything from you, dude. It’s so obvious you’re a scam.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re so blunt it hurts?” the scarred man quips, the smile never leaving his face. “Does that scare off the ladies?”
Grian snorts, “It’s sent plenty of men running.”
He pretends not to notice how the man’s eyes light up. “You sure have a sharp wit about you. I like that.” The smile on his face softens into something a bit more real, and Grian sees the way it reaches his eyes. It makes his heart skip a beat.
“You’re not smooth talking your way out of repaying me.” He crosses his arms, squinting at the man. “I’m expecting to be repaid — I gave you ten diamonds for a piece of junk!”
The man laughs, and oh if isn’t the nicest sound Grian has ever heard. “May I interest you in a different deal instead, my good sir?” he inquires, taking a step closer.
“Depends on if it involves getting my diamonds back or not.” Grian lifts a brow.
“While I can’t make your diamonds magically reappear, I can make it up to you. If you’ll allow me too.” That stupidly soft smile is still on his face.
Grian’s nose scrunches up and he scoffs. “Thanks but no thanks. I have rent to pay so if you can’t pay me back, I have to go find a different way.” He knew it was a bad idea to begin with! What the heck did he need a cutting board for anyway?! He doesn’t even cook for crying out loud! The man really had just… charmed him with words alone. Well, his looks certainly had something to do with it. It’s not Grian’s fault he’s weak for a guy with fluffy brown hair and nice green eyes!
He frowns and steps back, turning around. He starts walking away with hurried steps.
“W-Wait!” the man cries out, hurrying after him. Grian’s pace doesn’t slow, determined. They fall into step together, walking side by side. “Just hear me out!”
“No thanks!” Grian starts walking faster, hoping to shake him.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t.
“I promise it’ll be worth your time! Your while even! I’ll knock your socks off!”
“Not interested!”
“Please! Let me take you out to dinner!”
Grian stops short, eyes going wide. His cheeks go red, and he whirls on the merchant to look at him. “What?!”
“Let me take you out to dinner!” he repeats, and Grian continues to stare at him, jaw dropping. “While I can’t give you back your diamonds, I can at least treat you to some Goodtimes.” He winks, and oh Void is he flirting right now?!
“I— you— what—” Grian stammers out, heart thundering in his chest. The man’s smile is doing terrible things to his critical thinking skills.
“You won’t have to pay for a thing! I can talk our way into the best restaurant of your choosing,” he continues on.
Now that… is a curious thing. And Grian feels like he’s about to make another bad decision.
“…if it’s a date, you should at least tell me your name.”
“It’s Scar! Scar Goodtimes,” Scar replies, green eyes bright and pleased. There’s a little smirk on his face. “And you are?”
“Grian.” Is he really doing this? “So… where and when am I meeting you, Scar?” He’s really doing this.
“Let’s say… tomorrow afternoon? Meet me here?” Scar questions, and Grian takes in a breath.
“I expect my socks to blown off,” he teases.
(It turns out to be the best decision he’s ever made. Even if the first choice was a bad financial investment.)

Putting Scarian in situation 36. Make those fools cuddle!
36. Avalanche/huddle for warmth (put that guy in situations!)
reblogs do more than likes!
"Welp, we're definitely gonna be stuck here for a while." Scar glances back at Grian, finding the avian tucked against the cave wall. His wings are wrapped around himself, trying to use the feathery appendages to block out the cold.
"Brilliant," Grian grumbles in return, much to Scar's amusement.
The pair had decided to go caving in an unexplored part of the server, much to the joy of their friends. They've been acting all weird with Grian and Scar lately, and Scar would be willing to bet that there's some correlation between their friends weird behavior and the heaps of powdered snow blocking the exit of the cave. And of course, neither Scar nor Grian have any proper tools for escape.
They have no choice but to wait until the snow either melts or some other plan comes to mind.
"Not much else we can do besides wait, I'm afraid my dear!" Scar sing-songs, turning on his heel to walk over to his husband. He joins him on the ground, sitting beside him. "Though I think I know a way to pass the time." He wiggles his eyebrows at Grian, causing the avian to roll his eyes.
Grian shoves him playfully, "I'm not sure if I want to know if you've got that look in your eye." The edges of his lips quirk up, teasing in nature. "It spells nothing but trouble, Scar."
Scar gapes at him, "Trouble?! I can't believe you'd call me trouble!"
"Scar, I say this with all the love in my heart, you live up to the name," Grian replies, moving to drop his head against Scar's shoulder. "I think I have good reason to doubt you."
"Well fine then." Scar moves to cross his arms over his chest. "I guess you don't want to cuddle for warmth with your nice beefy husband."
Grian makes a face, nose scrunching up as he whacks Scar with his wing. "First of all, never call yourself 'beefy' again. That was just... wrong," he demands, earning a fit of giggles from Scar. "Second of all, how dare you assume I don't want to cuddle for warmth with you, Mr. Goodtimes." He goes for a scandalized look, earning a bright grin from Scar.
"Oh well, I don't know, Mr. Goodtimes, I think I should withhold on your cuddles since you said I'm trouble!" Scar huffs in return, trying to look affronted but the act falls apart incredibly easily. His smile is a dead giveaway.
Warmth runs right through Grian at their shared last name, starting at his chest and expanding across his body. His gaze softens before a mischievous look overtakes him and he crawls right into Scar's lap. "You wouldn't."
Scar's arms settle around his waist, pulling him in, "Oh, but I would!" Yet he contradicts himself by pressing Grian against him, sharing his warmth. Grian lets out a soft, content sigh, wrapping Scar in his wings as comfortably as he can. "But maybe not when it's freezing like this."
"Mhm, sure Scar," Grian chuckles, leaving a kiss under his jaw. "You're really warm." He snuggles further into the man, humming contently.
"So are you, lovebird," Scar murmurs softly, laying his head against Grian's. "The warmest I've ever met."

I’m here to see you put scarian in more situations:
8. “Who did this to you?”
Pwese <3
08. "Who did this to you?" (put that guy in a situation!)
reblogs do more than likes!
“Oh, songbird,” Scar’s voice shakes as he takes in the ragged appearance of the man in front of him. He’s wrapped up in bandages, dressed in clothes that don’t fit him (it’s not that they’re too big, they just don’t look right on him). Two fluffy appendages sit on his back that are certainly new, but what kills Scar is how upset Grian looks.
It’s been two years since he’s seen him, two years since Scar believed his husband to be dead.
But Grian is very much alive, and well… mostly well. He sits on a bed a little ways from Scar, somehow in Mumbo’s redstone world, and he is alive.
Scar can hardly believe it.
“Scar,” Grian croaks weakly, and it’s like life breathes into his body again. Scar’s world fills with color and vibrancy, and breathing in air has never felt so good.
The sound of his husband’s voice urges him forward, and he’s quick to sit with him, even quicker to pull him into his arms.
“Grian,” he breathes out quietly, a hand falling into his hair. Scar sets his cheek on Grian’s head, simply breathing him in. Grian grips him, wrapping his arms tight around him. “Grian,” Scar says again, letting the familiar syllables roll right off his tongue. His vision blurs as he crushes his husband to his chest, holding on like he’s going to disappear again.
“I’m here,” Grian says, hand rubbing Scar’s back as the taller begins to tremble. He presses his face further into his shoulder, “I’m here.”
Tears fill Scar’s vision, and he pulls back to take him all in again. He cradles Grian’s face in his hands, thumb ever so delicately brushing over a bandage on his cheek. He’ll have to thank Mumbo later for taking care of Grian. His lips form a wobbly smile as he moves to gently press his lips to the other’s cheek. “Well, I guess the bird like behavior really suits you now,” he weakly jokes, and preens when he sees Grian’s eyes light up with mirth.
Yet the look darkens seconds later as he tears his gaze away from Scar, breaking the man’s heart all over again. “Yeah,” Grian mutters.
“Oh, love.” Scar gently encourages his husband to meet his eyes, rewarding him with a kiss to his nose when he does. He sees the darkness swirling in the depth of Grian’s eyes, sees the way he’s just mere steps away from appearing to Scar as a husk, retreating behind his walls for safety.
The very thought that Grian has come back to him with such pain, with the need to guard himself, makes anger burst forth in his chest. It makes him so, so angry. It makes him furious, and protective, and he swears that he will make whoever caused such pain for the light of his life will not rest easy.
“I’m sorry,” Grian murmurs to him, leaning forward to embrace him again. He tucks his head under Scar’s chin, and Scar doesn’t hesitate to wrap him up in his arms. “I didn’t mean to disappear or lose contact but They—”
“It’s alright, G,” Scar soothes, carding his fingers through Grian’s hair, “you came back to me. That’s all that matters.” He’s spent every day of the last two years terrified out of his mind, but he’s here now, able to hold Grian in his arms once more.
He hears Grian’s breath hitch as his fingers dig into the back of Scar’s shirt. “….I lost the jumper you made me,” he quietly admits, and his voice is shaking. Scar holds him tighter. “They… They did so much…”
“Sh, sh, later, okay? We can talk about all of it later,” Scar tells him. He gives the other a light squeeze, dropping a kiss to his head. “But I… I need to ask, G,” he says nervously, still brushing through his hair. “Who did this to you?”
Who hurt you? Who took you from me for so long?
He tries to keep his voice even, tries to keep it still and free of the anger creating a tsunami in his chest. But some it still bleeds through, still echoes in his words as he holds his husband against him.
He feels Grian stiffen in his arms, but they both know this part of the conversation will be inevitable. They cannot run from it. Scar is owed a lot of answers at Grian’s pace, but he still needs to know this much.
Grian sucks in a rugged breath, and Scar can feel the way his eyelashes lightly tickle his neck as he shuts his eyes. “The Watchers,” he answers, and the tsunami crashes harshly. Roughly.
Scar presses another kiss to his hair, taking a measured breath. “Alright,” he says, “okay.” He breathes out with a soft tremble, burying his face in Grian’s hair. “I’m sorry,” he apologizes, “I’m sorry I couldn’t be there. But I’m here now, and I’m never letting you out of my sight again.”
Grian nods against him, murmuring an affirmation. He doesn’t let Scar go, instead choosing to cling to him like he might just disappear. Scar holds him just as closely, carrying the same fear.
He takes in Grian’s fear, his pain, his grief, and swears to make Them pay, whenever he gets the chance. He knows there’s a lot more to the story, but for now, Scar is content to hold Grian in his arms.
