“ohhh come on ao’nungggg you should be the one to teach me” you whine as you’re begging for your best friend ao’nung to teach you how to tame a skimwing.

you have been following him from the beach and now on the marui’s dock. it’s hard to keep up with his pace since he’s much taller and has longer legs than yours.

“why don’t you ask marve?” he asked, glancing at you over his shoulder for a second while still walking. your ears flattened at the mention of the lad. “I don’t want anyone else! I could have just ask him before, but I don’t” you said and managed to pull his hand. ao’nung finally stopped at his track and turned around to face you.

both of your hands are holding his right wrist tightly, not letting him walk away. his gaze fixed on you before glancing over your hold again. he knows a skilled hunter like you is more than ready to tame one, and he’s ready to teach you but the jealousy took a turn in him when he saw you talking with marve — another metkayina hunter, by the shore.

“please?” you blinked a few times, not breaking your eye contact, pleading with him to teach and guide you today.

“what I’ll get if I help you?” a smile crept across your face when ao’nung asked that. you already expect that he’ll ask that question, so you already have an answer for it. “I’ll do your hair for a week!”

his eyes sparkled at your answer. ao’nung like— no, he loves it so much when you’re playing with his hair so you’re sure he wouldn’t resist it. “hmm that’s great, but I have something better in mind”

“what is it?” you asked in confusion.

“let’s go find rotxo and tsireya first, and I’ll tell you later after you manage to tame a tsurak” ao’nung answered you before grabbing the saddle and diving into the water. you hopped in afterwards, swimming beside him to find his friend and sister. once he spotted them in the water he signed both of them to follow and they did.

after exploring the water for a few minutes, ao’nung finally signed to catch breath and the 3 of you followed him to the surface. “where are we going?” rotxo is the first one to voice out as he’s panting to catch his breath. “isn’t this tsurak area?” tsireya asked while her eyes wandering around the area she recognized. “yes. our warrior is so ready to tame one now, so both of you need to help me” ao’nung answered with a smirk while nudging to your side.

“listen, tsurak is not an ilu. once tsaheylu is made, tsurak will ride with only one hunter in the whole life” you only nodded your head even if you have heard those same sentences hundreds times from your father.

ao’nung called for his tsurak and here come the big mighty creature out of nowhere. you gulped as you see how big it actually is by this close. ao’nung gently pat the tsurak to calm him down as it keep moving nonstop. “do not look in his eyes” he gently reminded you while setting the saddle on the tsurak before he reached to grab his queue, making tsaheylu with it. the creature screeched as they made the bond which startled you a little bit. “to become taronyu (hunter), you must choose your own tsurak and she must choose you,” he explains while tying a rope to his left hand for support.

“watch and learn” the smudge look was displayed on his face when he said that. you wish you could brush off that annoying smirk off of his face. in a blink of eyes ao’nung ride his tsurak skillfully. he proudly made some tricks to show his skills which made you awe in excitement. both rotxo and tsireya also shouting happily when they saw him riding it without struggle.

“so how would you rate it 10 out of 10?” he asked after he’s done having fun and dis bonding with his tsurak. you couldn’t help but to smile since he is indeed so good at riding the it. this man is so skilled. hunting, weaving, sewing, riding a tsurak, oh just everything… you name it and he could do it for you without struggle. yeah for you. when you said you want to weave another basket to store your clothes but you’re too lazy to do so, he appears at your marui entrance 3 days later with a big basket in his hand. and of course when you need help to sew the tops for the people, he came to offer his help. you’re so shocked when he sews everything perfectly without struggle. when you asked where he learned it, he said he just watched how his father sewing every single afternoon. and also him being a hunter? you don’t want to say much about that. everyone in the village knows who he is. the son of ronal and tonowari, a skilled hunter who is looked up by the other adolescent males.

you playfully rolled your eyes at him while the other 2 just laughed at your reaction. “now it’s time to choose your tsurak. you must follow your heart” ao’nung said and gently placing his big palm against your heart. tsireya and rotxo exchanged a knowing look while your eyes are fixed on ao’nung. you tried so hard to maintain a steady breath. “if she choose you, move quick like I showed. you have one chance y/n” he added before pulling his hand away.

“how will I know if she choose me?” you asked, eyes focused on your best friend. “she will try to kill you” he simply answered your question. “that’s not helping”

ao’nung just shrugged his shoulders and smirked when you splashed the water at him and quickly swam away to find a wild tsurak. he immediately lead you again after he managed to swim ahead of you.

‘over there’ he signed and pointed towards a float of tsuraks in the distance. the excitement fills your body but you sometimes feel frightened by their size. ‘go choose one’

you nodded and moved forward while ao’nung, rotxo and tsireya followed closely behind before settling themselves behind a huge coral cave.

you tie the long rope around your hand before swinging the rest to tie around the tsurak’s mouth. you swim past the float of tsurak and some of them screeching at you before swimming away. your eyes wander around to find the perfect one before they land on the huge creature that looks quite intimidating by your presence. it screeched at you and moved forward a little bit, as if threatening you to leave.

“this is it” you thought to yourself and began to start moving forward as well. ao’nung that was closely behind you smirked at your eagerness. he knows he has taught you well ever since both of you became friends since childhood. you’re growing up just to be a girl version of him.

after struggling to tie the rope around the skimwing, you finally managed to do it. it struggles to free itself, which accidentally makes you hit your back on the huge coral. your friends gasped at the sudden loud thud. you managed to stabilise yourself back and placed yourself on top of it, making the skimwing to swim to the surface. “tsaheylu y/n! make the bond!” ao’nung shouted as he reached the surface too and threw you the saddle he held.

you catch the saddle while panting hardly before you reached for your queue and the tsurak finally managed to calm down a little bit after you made the bond. ao’nung, rotxo and tsireya helped to hold the tsurak in preventing it to move uncontrollably while you put the saddle on. “first ride seals the bond. you cannot wait” ao’nung told you while patting your tsurak. “now remember, when you dive back in, it’s very important to be in good position” you only nodded you head before you instruct the tsurak to fly. even if it fly quite unsteady, you’re still proud that you’re finally able to tame one now. “easy girl” you told your tsurak and deeply inhaled your breath before diving into the water.

however the pressure is too hard you to handle which made you accidentally slipped your hand from the saddle handle. you tsurak swam away drastically. your friends laughed as they’re watching you swam to the surface all alone. “it takes time to form a loyal bond” ao’nung said as he arrived beside you. your tsurak came back afterwards while towering you. “where’s tsireya and rotxo?” you asked while patting the tsurak’s head as you noticed their absence. “I told them to go back” you gave him a confused look but he ignored you and called for his tsurak. “come on, let’s practise” he said as he settled down on his skimwing. you followed his action and he guided you to ride the tsurak afterwards. you went for a multiple fly and ride along with ao’nung and his tsurak right beside you. as you realise your tsurak is getting steadier in flying and swimming after multiple times, a proud smile displayed on your face. you don’t miss that proud smile on ao’nung’s too.

the sky finally turned pinkish as the eclipse was setting by the moment you thought you finally managed to ride your tsurak under control.

“woooo I did it ao’nung!!” you shouted happily as your skimwing was flying proudly above the water. ao’nung smiled with his eyes fixed on you. he couldn’t stop to admire your beauty especially when the wind is running through your hair, giving full access to see your beautiful face without the hair blocking it. he couldn’t hide the fact that he adores you so much. you’re like a treasure to him, and so does he is to you. you don’t want to lose each other.

“let’s go to the three brothers rocks!” ao’nung shouted through the blustering wind before heading towards the said place. you just follow closely behind him since that’s the place where both of you always spend time with. farther from the people, as if the pandora only belong to both of you since it’s a restricted area for metkayina.

“haven’t been here for a quite long time” you said after stepping down from your tsurak onto the big rock. it’s the usual spot where both of you would sit together. “yeah. we’re too busy with the duties” ao’nung agreed as he’s sitting down. “hunting and practising to be a healer is so tiring, but I believe being you is much more exhausting than that” ao’nung just chuckled at your statement. he couldn’t deny it at all. being the only son of the olo’eyktan tonowari and tsahik ronal is indeed exhausting him. he needs to run constant duties in order to be the next olo’eyktan soon.

“you know.. I can’t stop thinking how it would be when it’s time for me to lead our people,” he said after a few minutes, breaking the comfortable silence. you look at him as if waiting for him to voice anything next. his eyes wander around, but you. “…because I want the best for us” he finally added and now his gaze focused on your blue eyes. your lips parted but nothing came out as you’re too shocked. you don’t know if he’s referring that to both of you or the people.

“I’m talking about us” ao’nung added again, as if he could read your confused expression. he reached out for your hands, intertwining your fingers with his. “I don’t want anyone else, y/n. I just want you. I want you to be by my side forever, and I want to build our own little family”

his big blue eyes bore into yours as you’re once again in the loss of words. “ao’nung.. you know my feeling. I also want you to myself. I hope you see that I’m trying my best to be the skilled hunter my parents are proud of and to be the tsahik for you later”

“I do y/n, I do. you’re doing amazingly good, but please don’t overwork yourself, hmm?” his huge hand now caresses your cheek lovingly while the other one is still intertwined with yours. “you too ao’nung”

“I love you so much, y/n”

“I love you more ao’nung” you said and immediately hug him. “so… this is what you meant before?” you asked after remembering what he said this morning. ao’nung smile and nod his head. “yes. I want a date night with you as a reward” he answered while gently running his fingers in your hair.

you blushed when he mentioned those words.

“don’t you think we need to head back to the village? it’s getting darker now” you said as you looked up at the dark sky. ao’nung pulled away and did the same before he stand up and offering his hand at you. “alright let’s go” you smiled and took his hand, following him to your tsurak.

he let you make tsaheylu first and get on top of the skimwing, settling yourself on the big creature. “this position is good, but your leg supposed to be a litt bit lower.. and your thigh..” ao’nung said while moving your leg and thigh a little bit to his preferences. a step back a little bit, admiring his work. “yup! that’s great” you just chuckled and muttered a thank you, waiting for him to get on his skimwing afterwards.

“be careful” he reminded and immediately dive into the water first after you nodded. your giggle and shout filled the night sky. you know you would be grounded when you get back to the village, but all you want is to enjoy this moment with ao’nung first. ao’nung laughed at your excitement. he loves seeing you being this cheeky. the wide grin across your face and the sound of you laughter bring happiness in him. both of you ride beside each other, enjoying the ride back home. you followed everything ao’nung did. when he fly above the water, you did so. when he dive back in, you follow along. when his slender fingers grazing the illuminated coral, you did it too.

“wow! I’ve seen those countless times, but they’re still pretty in my eyes!” you exclaimed enthusiastically after both of you finally back to the surface. “yeah.. you’re right” ao’nung agreed, but his eyes focused on yours. he implied those words on you rather than those coral you’re referring to.

“hey, would you mind going back without me?” he suddenly asked. you shot him a confused look and glance between him and the village light that you could see from distant. you’re already close to the village. “I promise I’ll come back soon. just wait for me by the shore, alright?” he added.

“alright” you finally agreed after thinking for a minute. “wait for me” ao’nung said and unexpectedly give you a kiss. your eyes shut closed at his sudden move, and you gladly returned the kiss. he pulled away after seconds before patting your tsurak, indicating for you to leave. “go” you smiled and nodded your head, swimming alone, back to the village. ao’nung make sure you’re already close to the village first before he swims back into the water.

“y/n! where have you been? we searched for you everywhere! your parents are so worried. they’re looking for you too” a voice bombarded you with questions once you stepped your feet on the sand. you turn around and see marve with a few of his friends coming towards you. you disconnected the queue with your skimwing, patting it to leave.

“I’ll tell my parents later, thank you marve”

“tìyawn” a gentle voice interrupted marve that was about to open his mouth. there come ao’nung from the water with his hands behind his back.

marve’s friends are sharing a look when they heard ao’nung called you with that endearment name.

you lookat ao’nung and your smile widens even more. “ao’nung.. you’re back”

“I told you”

he suddenly pulled out a bouquet of medium blue coral reef, which made you gasp at its beauty. “it’s the coral we saw?!” you asked excitedly. “yes. I picked it for you” he handed the bouquet and you gladly accepted it. “thank you tìyawn” you thanked him and gave him a kiss on his cheek.

ao’nung didn’t expect that, so he’s mad blushing by now. however, his usual smudge look back to display on his face when he saw marve’s white knuckles. ao’nung shamelessly glides his hand to your back, placing it on your waist and guiding you to the marui.

ao’nung smirked when both of you walked past marve. he’s satisfied that you don’t pay attention to that lad anymore, and just focus on the coral flower he got you. “hurry up!! I can smell my mom’s cook!” you grabbed his hand, running happily towards the marui.

Hi can I get a Ao’nung request where his female mate is sleep deprived and he comes home after a hunt and finds her trying to sleep during the day which is unusual for her so he asks what’s been going on and she says that she can’t sleep much without him. So he decides to help her and he loves that she is being very affectionate right now however he is a bit shy about it and blushes as he is not used to this behaviour from her she teases him a little and he cuddles with her to keep her warm with soft kisses/back rubs. maybe can i request ao'nung x f!metkayina reader where they're childhood best friend. they are in love with each other and when it's time for reader tame a tsurak Ao'nung really falling deeper for her. Maybe they confess each other feeling after that and then they have a date night like explore the sea with their tsurak (like the scene tsireya and lo'ak with their ilu). a/n my first fic request! hopefully I don’t mess up and it reach your expectation dear anon <3

“have you seen y/n?” neteyam asks everyone around him while taking off his visor. he just came back from patrolling with his dad. nowadays, both you and neteyam rarely get to spend much time together since he’s so busy with all of those soon to be olo’eyktan duties.

some of them just shrugged off their shoulders while some muttered a ‘no’. “your best friend might be in the forest. she said she wanted some fresh air” kiri answered him.

he muttered a thank you to his little sister and quickly made his way into the forest. there gonna be a lot of possibilities of the place you would be, but a certain place came to his mind.

“the lake” neteyam rushed over to the direction, happily sprinting around. finally he got to feel like himself again. running all of those duties every single day always makes him tired physically and mentally. he needs to fulfil his father’s expectations and it’s not a simple thing to do.

his smile dropped when he couldn't find your figure once he arrived at the lake where both of you always spend time together. “y/n? are you here? you want to play hide and seek with me?” he asked with a somewhat excited tone just by thinking that you could possibly jump on him at any time.

the forest is quiet, not even a little hint of your voice except the sound of the flora and fauna that filled the atmosphere. after thinking straight, he finally got back into his senses. he hasn’t told you yet that he would finish his duties early today, so why would you stand by in the forest to play with him?

“bullshit. what are we? 7 years old to play hide and seek? of course not” he frustratedly walked away from the lake, trying to find you at the other place.

unfortunately he couldn’t find you at the tree where you always hangout besides the lake too, so he headed back to his cave with a frustrated face. “what’s wrong with my mighty neteyam?” his grandmother asked when she noticed him.

“I can’t find y/n”

“she heads over that way” tuk suddenly interrupted while pointing at the way you left before. he frowned when he noticed that is the way to the tree of soul.

“thank you tuk” neteyam thanked and ruffled her hair before heading to the direction she pointed to after excusing himself from the tsahik.

a smile finally crept up on his face again when he saw you laying under the tree of souls. “hi buttercup” he greeted you with the nickname he gave you. he learned it from jake when sometimes he heard his father call that to his mother.

your breath hitches when you recognize his voice. you immediately changed your position to sit down on the moss grass.

“what is going on? I’m looking for you all over the forest, you know. I didn't even expect you would be under this tree, luckily tuk said she saw you going here” neteyam asked as he took a seat a few inches away from you.

silence filled the forest air. you didn’t know where to start. as you’re busy processing every possible answer, the tears streaming down your face for the nth times that day. you immediately face your back to your best friend.

the confused neteyam gently placed his warm hands on your shoulders with his face now clouded with worries. “mind telling me what happened?” neteyam softly asked you.

you wipe your tears before facing him again. “I-I’m such a useless na’vi” you said with your voice almost cracking due to the new tears brimming in your eyes. “hey don’t say something like that. you’re not useless at all”

you shook your head at his statement. “but I am. I don’t know how to hunt, and I don’t even know how to ride an ikran” your sob filled the atmosphere which make neteyam sitting uneasy in his spot.

without wasting more time he pulled you into his arms, hugging you closer to him. his huge hands ran smoothly back and forth on your hair. both of you rarely do skinship, so it caught you off guard a little bit. however, you hug him back and sob even more in his embrace.

“calm down.. you don’t need to rush everything. learn it step by step, ok?” neteyam pulled away as he heard you stop crying. you immediately wipe your tears as he was facing you right now. neteyam unexpectedly reach out for your hands, squeezing your forearm for assurances, before intertwining your slender fingers with his. “look at me”

his stomach flipped in a good way once your watery yellow eyes met his. he was lost in your eyes for a few seconds before he was able to collect himself back. “not everything can be done perfectly at once. you need to keep on trying until you’re satisfied with the results, but remember not to push yourself much”

you just paid attention to his words and nodded your head in between. “don’t work too hard on yourself y/n” neteyam added, with his eyes still focused on yours. he squeezed your hands a few times before releasing his right hand to cup your face. his thumb is now gently caressing your cheek.

you couldn’t be able to read the expression on his face at all. nevertheless, you’re so grateful to have a best friend like him. he’s always there for anyone and always willing to help them, but that’s something you don’t really like about neteyam. he cares more for others than himself.

“starting tomorrow… I’ll teach you how to hunt and ride an ikran everyday after my duties are done”

you sit in your marui while sewing a new macrame top for yourself. the weather has not been really good for the past few days, and you know today is not going to be an exception too as you saw the cloudy dark skies from distant.

a sigh escape your mouth. “it’s going to rain again”

as if on cue, the moderate rain falls right away. a few shouts and giggles could be heard from a distance. some are hating the rainy weather like you, while the others enjoying it.

you take a cloth to cover your marui entrance but was flabbergasted by the lightning you saw in the skies. your breath hitches as you realise it’s not gonna be the usual moderate rain.

“shit” you cursed under your breath, immediately covering your marui entrance and ran into your marui back again. you sat on the mattress and pray to eywa it not going to happen like what you expected just now.

however luck is not on your side today as the loud roaring of thunder could be heard striking the skies and also the loud noise of the waves. your body began to tremble and sweat was already forming on your forehead.

an old vision sometimes came in your mind as the thunder couldn’t stop striking. a few cries erupted around you, probably from the little kids of your neighborhood.

without realising the tears already streaming on your cheeks. “y/n!” the familiar voice made you look at the entrance again and there stood your boyfriend, ao’nung.

he rushed to you and pull you into a hug before pulling away to look at your face. “I’m sorry I’m late” he apologized while brushing off your tears with his thumbs.

you shook your head and immediately pulled him in a hug with new tears pouring as fast as the rain outside. “I hate it ao’nung. I saw them again” you said between your hitched breath.

he tightened the hug and gently rub your back with his huge hand. “shuh.. it’s okay baby, it’s okay. I’m here now” he planted a kiss on your head while continually rubbing your back to comfort you.

you flinched when the sudden thunder erupted. it sounds so close and loud. ao’nung immediately cups your ears with his hands to prevent you from hearing the thunder again. being in your boyfriend’s embrace is enough to make you calm for a little bit. you always find comfort in him.

in order to make you ignore the thunderstorms that happening outside, ao’nung lean in for a kiss and give you a passionate one. his plan succeeded as he feels your body becomes less trembling in his hold and you’re just focusing on his lips.

a moan slipped your mouth when ao’nung tucked his tongue into yours, exploring your mouth for the nth times. you flinched once again at the sudden loud thunder, making you accidentally scratched his back with your nails. he hissed between the kiss but continued kissing your lips again, giving you the most toe curling kiss ever.

you pulled away after you feel like you’re running out of breath. both of your panting hardly as you rest your head on his shoulder.

the breeze is so cold and harsh as it brushed against both of you, making you shiver in your boyfriend’s embrace. ao’nung immediately cover your body by using the wide cloth he found beside you before hugging you again.

you’re so grateful to have him and his family now. even if you’re just an adoptive daughter of tonowari and ronal, they treat and welcome you like their own biological child.

you have a trauma over thunderstorms since you lost your parents during the thunderstorms when you’re still a child. you’re barely 7 years old when that traumatic incident happened.

the scene is still freshly living in your head. the moment your parents panicked when their wooden boat was drifting away by the huge wave, the moment they were passing you to tonowari that was riding his tsurak. everything seems like it happened recently.

you can’t forget your parents' scared faces, especially your mother. tears couldn’t stop streaming on her beautiful face. they rescued you first by passing you to the chief as he happened to be around you and your family at that moment. tonowari held you tightly close to him as he rode off to the village, fighting with the wave current as hard as he could. you managed to look over your shoulder and saw the boat was sinking and your parents hands at the surface that were helpless struggling with the wave in the heavy rain. their voice could be heard faintly against the loud rumble of the thunder.

once toniwari dropped you at the village, he went back to the sea with other few na’vi to save your parents. you wait patiently while crying your eyes out. ronal tried her best to comfort you at that moment. hours already passed and finally the group came back.

you stormed over tonowari and was greeted with the lifeless bodies of your parents. your knees suddenly feel like jelly and you slowly fell onto the sand, not believing what you’re seeing.

you hate it so much and sometimes you blame eywa for that. your little family was just enjoying the day like anyone else, but it turned out to be the most horrible day ever in your life.

you sit on the rock as you usually do every single day while waiting for no other than your lover ao’nung to come back from doing his duties. you on the other hand has done your healing lesson with his mother, the tsahik ronal.

after patiently waiting for ao’nung to come, he finally came by riding his ilu. the smile you presented for him dropped when you saw his gloomy face and immediately engulfed him in your embrace. ao’nung tighten the hug and rest his head in the crook of your neck.

finally after a long and hard day he got to meet you.

“mind to tell me what happened?” you asked softly, running your fingers in his curly hair after a few minutes of silence. ao’nung let out a soft sigh before answering your question, “I’m just tired with all of these olo’eyktan duties. I got scolded by my father for doing it wrong a couple of times today”

“hey take it easy yawne, you’re still learning” you assure him. “but my father won’t understand that. he always want it to be perfect and I’ve tried countless times” tears already brimming in his eyes as he said that. being the son of the olo’eyktan and tsahik he is, ao’nung always wanted to show his confident and reliable side whenever he’s around other people, but with you it’s the opposite. he instantly became a softy and shows you the side that not everyone able to see it.

you wipe his streaming tears away and plant a kiss on his right cheek, cupping his face in your hands afterwards. “you’re doing great. I’m so proud for how far you have become. I know it won't be easy, but I also know you've got what it takes to get through it yawne”

“keep it up for me, hmm?” you added, looking down at ao’nung who was already staring at you. he nodded his head with a smile on his face. “you will be the olo’eyktan soon and I’ll be your tsahik who will be by your side forever”

neteyam. as far as you could remember his name, that’s the blue na’vi you’re looking at right now from your pod. it seems like he and his siblings are heading back to their marui after their swimming lessons.

the omatikaya family arrived at the metkayina village around 3 days ago for seeking uturu. after the chief let them live here, tsireya the chief’s daughter and her brother have been teaching the sullys kids the way of reef people.

you sometimes enjoy watching them learning from distant. since they arrived you couldn’t help but to keep your eyes on the eldest son of the sully. in your eyes he’s the most beautiful and seems really kind.

your eyes widened when his eyes landed on you for the first time. he smile at you and look away before you could even return it. blood rushed to your face by the small and simple gestures he gave you.

“y/n, here take this and give it to our new neighbors. I already told neytiri I’ll cook this for her family today” your mom said, handing you the bowl of food which will be given to the sullys. you live only a few pods away from them. neytiri and your mother have been a good friend since your mom encounter her in the first place.

you nodded, fixing you hair before heading to their pod with the bowl. their youngest daughter came in running to your direction since she was being chased by her brother, neteyam. fortunately you’re quick to realize it and able to keep your balance.

“tuk careful!” neteyam shouted when he realized his little sister was about to hit someone. tuk halted but bumped into you a little bit. she immediately apologized and ran to neteyam’s side. “I’m so sorry about that” neteyam apologized, looking at you and he got mesmerized by your doe blue eyes.

you gave him a smile and shook your head. “it’s okay, she doesn’t cause any trouble. tuk.. right?” you assure neteyam and asked the little girl after remembering her name since neytiri once used to introduce her kids name to both you and your mother.

tuk that was hiding behind neteyam peek out her head to look at you by the mention of her name and nodded eventually.

“by the way, my mom cook something for you guys. she would like for your family to try it” you finally start with the real intention you came to their pod. neteyam was taken aback a bit since he doesn’t expect it at all. he thought the clan members don’t like his family and don’t even care about them, but his guess was proven wrong today.

“oh.. thank you” he thanked you and take the bowl you’re handing him. his warm fingers tips slightly brushed against yours, sending shivers down your spine.

you’re down bad for him, but he’s so clueless about it

you bid goodbye to both of them, waving your hand and giving your smile before heading back to your marui with a wide smile.

“ma eywa, what happened to my daughter?” your mother asked when she saw you smiling by yourself. “is it about neytiri eldest son?” your mom teased. you shook your head immediately and pretend to be busy by washing the dirty dishes.

“hey y/n!“ you’re sewing your clothes when a familiar called. you look at the entrance of your marui to see tsireya and rotxo.

“care to join us to the cove?” your eyes lit up at the mention of the cove. tsireya know how much you love being there so she decided to ask you to go along too. you nodded immediately and walked to them.

“you know I would never reject that offer”

“but we’re going with the sullys” she told you. she knows that you don’t really enjoy being around a lot of people especially strangers, that why you rejected her offer to teach the sullys a couple days ago which you kinda regret it now. “are you ok with that?” she added.

“I don’t mind, but what about them? are they ok if I join too?” you turn to look at your friends that were riding ilus by your side.

“don’t worry! I already told them that I’m bringing a friend” tsireya assured you before she leads you and rotxo to the sullys kids that were waiting in the middle of the sea.

“guys, this is my friend that I’m bringing tonight. y/n this neteyam, kiri, and tuk. there’s another one lo’ak, but he doesn’t want to join” tsireya introduced each of the sully’s while pointing at them by their names. you smiled and introduce yourself again, waving your hand at the shy tuk.

the whole ride to the cove was amusing. you swim ahead with tsireya and neteyam that always stick not far enough from you. you would exchange smile with him whenever both of you make eye contact during the journey.

“we are here” tsireya announced while entering the cove. “this is the cove of the ancestors. our most sacred place” smile crept up on the sullys siblings as they’re gazing through the huge cove.

“eclipse is the best time of day to be here” you said when you see the eclipse is setting down for today.

as the eclipse finally turn to dark, the bioluminescent of the plants and sea illuminating the whole cove. “this is it. this is the spirit tree” tsireya said while gesturing to the shining huge tree below in the water.

the sullys mouth agape at the beauty of the tree under them. you swam first and soon followed by them into the water. tsireya made a sign for them to connect their queues to the tree and they did.

after a few minutes talking to your grandma through the connection, your vision suddenly becomes blank. you opened your eyes and was greeted with kiri’s body shaking terribly. you immediately disconnected her queue and neteyam pull kiri to swim out of the water. panic began to engulf you as you swim to the surface too.

“is she breathing?” rotxo asked when neteyam brought kiri onto his ilu. “it was a seizure” neteyam said and immediately gave his sister a mouth-to-mouth breathing which made her cough, indicating that she’s still breathing. “bring her back to the village!” tsireya told him while getting on her ilu and everyone followed. you let tuk ride with you and bring her back safely.

dark turn to light and the help finally arrived. here come a na’vi and a human man from their transport. they help to treat kiri with whatever technologies they brought along. all of you loyally wait by the sully’s marui entrance for any news.

“she will be fine” you assure neteyam that was standing beside you and squeeze his shoulder a bit. you could feel how his body tensed by your sudden touch and he gave you an expression that you couldn’t read. you could hardly gulp your saliva and slowly retrieved your hand from him and muttered your apology. you didn’t mean to make him feel uncomfortable.

ronal – tsireya mother finally came to the sully’s marui to treat kiri after her mother dismissed the scientists. you were caught off guard when neteyam suddenly intertwined your fingers with his.

he squeezed your hand when kiri finally coughed and bursted into tears after being treated by the tsahik which easing everyone’s heart. you could see how neteyam also let out a relief sigh. he turn to look at you and smiled which made you return it and squeeze his hand back.

days passed, the sullys also back to their lesson along with kiri, and here you are sitting on the dock with you legs hanging out into the water. it’s your everyday habit to sit and admire the view.

without realizing, someone came and take a seat right beside you. you tilted your head and unexpectedly was greeted by no other than the eldest son. “why you didn’t join tsireya and his brother with us?” neteyam started the conversation which you understood what he’s referring to.

“I.. I don’t enjoy being around people much” you answered him and immediately deadpanned by your own answer. “I don’t mean it in that way!!” you added when you saw neteyam nodded with a blank expression. “I mean I don’t really like being around people in general! I love sitting all alone and entertain myself”

“oh.. don’t worry I understand. but if you want to, you can join us. trust me, it will be fun”

his statement made you laugh. you have a habit to cover your mouth when you laugh and obviously also hitting anyone that was sitting near you. you hit neteyam by his arm and he just chuckled along. the view in front of him now is enough to make him feel suffocated by your cuteness.

“you know I live here for my entire life and I’ve been in the water since I was a little baby”

“yeah I know, but what I mean by fun is you got to enjoy being around with us. we’re fun though” you blushed at his statement.

suddenly an idea popped up in your head. you get up on your feet and offer your hand for neteyam to take. “come on. I’m pretty sure you haven’t try this yet” neteyam gave you a confused look but eventually grab your hand before he get up and follow you.

“let’s sail!” you said when you arrive by the shore where you father park your family’s wooden boat. you get into the boat after releasing the tie and followed by neteyam. after passing one of the paddle to him, you take a seat and gesture for him to sit by the other end of the boat.

“copy my move” you instructed him and he did as you began to paddle away. luckily he’s a fast learner. “wow this is fun” neteyam was amused when the boat moved as he paddle it.

both of you stop paddling as you reach in middle of the sea.

“I know a spot. come on” you told him before jumping into the water. neteyam followed closely behind you. you smiled whenever you see how his eyes widened and his face lit up at the sight aroud him. he was mesmerized.

after a few minutes of swimming and exploring the water, you finally reach your favorite spot. it’s a little cove in the water that was filled with a few plants that neteyam never seen before.

‘they’re prettier at night time’ you signed at him which he just stare at you, confused.

‘I don’t understand’ he signed back. you smiled and sign for him to swim to the surface. “you don’t understand?” you asked when you reached the surface.

“yeah. tsireya only teach the basic moves. all I understand is night” neteyam said and make the night sign with his hands. “I said the plants are prettier at night”

“oh.. really?”

you nodded and swim away. “it’s getting late. we better head back to the village” without protesting neteyam followed you back to the boat. “I thought we gonna wait till dark” he said once both of you got on the boat.

“you want to?”

“you said the plants look prettier when its dark, so why not?” he asked you back. “sure, but maybe next time? I need to help my father with something tonight”

“next time” neteyam raised his hand which made you confused. he smiled and grabbed your hand, linking your pinky finger with his. “we just made a promise, so you can’t break it” he told you and paddle away like he didn’t just made the butterflies in your stomach exploded.

“promise..” you shyly said back and followed him to paddle back to the village.

that night you sleep with a wide smile on your face, remembering the little time you spent with neteyam today and obviously you’re looking forward for another night with him.

days passed by and you’re getting closer with each other. you even joined tsireya along with his brother and friends to help the sullys navigate the ways of reef people.

everyday after the lessons, both you and neteyam would spend time together by doing a lot things. he would tell you how his village look like and everything that he did back then in the rainforest.

sometimes both of you also went for a swim, sometimes feeding the ilu and sometimes going to the cove you showed him, or just sitting by the rock, talking.

however, you haven’t grant your promise yet to bring him to the cove at night, so you decided to show him today. you walk slowly to the shore but quickened your pace when you already saw neteyam standing by the place you asked him to wait before.

you made the greeting gesture and he return it. “swim or with the boat?”

“swim” neteyam answered you and immediately dive into the water. “wait up!” you shouted and followed behind him.

as both of you arrived at the cove you turned to look at neteyam. as expected his eyes widened with a bright grin plastered on his face. he was once again mesmerized by the beauty even if he already saw the flora and fauna a couple times.

like you said before, the cove is much prettier at night. the plants were illuminated in the water by the bioluminescent. a proud smile crept up on your face when neteyam was carefully touching the fishes and plants around him.

your giggle filled the air when both of you decided to swim back to the surface to breathe. “sevin (pretty)” neteyam said out of the blue while his eyes are fixed into yours. “I told you they’re prettier at night”

“I can’t doubt that, but you’re prettier in my eyes” neteyam blurted out, looking at everything around but your eyes. you blink a few times to make sure what you heard is right and it’s not just a dream.

you bravely inches closer towards him, making the adolescent become more nervous by your moves.

“neteyam” his eyes shut close when you said his name, he really loves to hear it rolled out from your tongue and with your cold hand placed against his warm chest almost make him purr in pleasure.

your cold fingers carefully trace the bioluminescent freckles on his face as you stare deeply into his doe yellow eyes.

“oel ngati kameie, neteyam. oel ngati kameie” you repeat those words with sincere. “oel ngati kameie y/n” he replied with a deep voice and without wasting more time, he crashed your lips with his.

his hands made it to your waist, pulling you closer to him while the other one was resting on the back of your head to deepen the kiss. your lips are so soft against his. neteyam nibbled your bottom lip and after you gave him some access, he tucked his tongue in, exploring every bit of your mouth.

the kiss is sweet and passionate, even your mouths are molded perfectly against each other. neteyam smiled between the kiss, not believing that he finally brave enough to kiss you. he already set his eyes on you on the day you came to his marui pod to share the food your mother made.

both of you are so into the kiss and desire for more, but the lack of breath kinda ruined the kiss. neteyam slowly pulled away when he feels you hitting his chest. both of you rested your forehead against each other while panting hardly due to out of breath.

“I love you y/n” he muttered between your lips. before you could reply, neteyam goes in for another kiss.

the eclipse is setting soon, meaning you need to get back to the hometree before dark. you ran happily with the flowers you pick from the forest. your laugh filled the forest along with your boyfriend, neteyam.

“be careful where you’re going!” neteyam reminded, skipping around behind you. you skipped over happily not minding everything around you until your leg happen to be stuck in between the fallen tree, making you tripped over it and resulting for your ankle and knee to bleed.

“ouch!” you hissed as you feel the stinging pain. neteyam immediately rushed to you when he saw you fall to the ground. “I told you to be careful princess” he squat down beside you, examining your leg that was stuck. “eywa, you’re bleeding” he carefully lifted the branch away from your leg, freeing you.

before you could stand, neteyam bring you up in bridal style making your eyes widened as you realize what he’s doing. “let me go! I can walk by myself”

“shut up before I make you shut up by my own” he simply said while walking back to the hometree with you in his hands. he carry you like you never amount anything to him and you just stay quiet the whole time, linking your arms around his neck for support.

a loud gasp could be heard when you arrive at his grandma’s cave. you turn to the direction to see lo’ak dramatically placing his hand over his mouth. “what happened to my sister-in-law!?”

“she tripped over a huge tree” neteyam answered and carefully place you on the ground. “should I call grandma?” lo’ak asked again. “no need. you can leave” neteyam answered his little brother while looking for ointment or healing paste that can be used to treat your wounds.

“sure lovebirds. I’ll leave you guys, but what the two of you doing in the forest… all alone..?” lo’ak teased with a smirk on his face. he even playfully raised his eyebrows at you since he knows how much you hate to be teased especially when it relates to neteyam . “gross!” you shouted, gaining a chuckle from him.

neteyam is now back to you on the ground with some ointment in his hand. “hmm.. so the kisses I gave you are gross?” your eyes widened at neteyam’s question. you hit his arm and look at lo’ak who was bursting out laugh. “I’m telling dad!” he said and ran away.

“you skxawng! I’ll push you from the cliff if you tell jake!” you yelled at lo’ak once again even if you know he might don’t hear you at all.

“that’s not funny” you pouted at neteyam who was cleaning your blood with a cloth. he doesn’t seem to be bothered by lo’ak threat, he just chuckled and continued what he’s doing. “what if he really told your father about it?” you asked with your fingers busy playing with the flowers on your lap. “then what? we’re old enough to do anything. they even know that we’re so in love with each other” neteyam answered you with a warm smile.

neteyam is so calm despite whatever situation he is in. you smiled watching him taking care of you. he never fails to put a smile on your face everyday. “and you’re done” he said after he tied the thin cloth around your ankle as he finished. you cupped his face and give him a kiss on his cheek. “thank you yawne. now let’s treat your wound” you said, pulling his left hand. you already noticed the wound he got when he help to free your leg from the tree. neteyam looks at you confused and finally noticed a few cuts on his palm as you stretched out his hand.

“you always protect others, but who would protect you neteyam?” you asked as you’re applying the ointment on his palm. he smiled and ruffled your hair with his free hand, leaving a kiss on your forehead afterwards. “I would risk it all as long as the one I love is safe”
