Goner Ralsei goes by they/it now.

Goner Ralsei

I probably should've posted these earlier.

These are the Sprites I share the most, possibly the ones I'm most known for. I came up with Goner Ralsei on a whim back in December, and it has de facto represented me online since. If you're wondering about the lore behind them, I have had its lore in my head for months now, but I've never typed it out and posted it publicly. I going to do that now.

EDIT: In my original version of this, I referred to Goner Ralsei with he/him pronouns. However, I have decided to refer to them with they/it pronouns from now on and have edited this according. I tried to find and change every instance, but I may have missed some. If you find anyone referring to them with they/it, don't get mad. Just explain to them that Goner Ralsei canonically goes by they/it.

I wanna say that if you want to use and of these designs but want to ignore the lore I made and just make up your own, that's perfectly fine.

I have always said that this is what Ralsei looks like at the end of Chapter 6 and through a good part of Chapter 7. At the end of Chapter 6, Ralsei no longer has a soul, hence that hole in its chest. That is true. However, I never mentioned two things: Ralsei willingly gave up the soul it had, and the soul it had up to that point (i.e. throughout chapters 1-6) wasn't its own.

While the above is the design I use most often, it's not their only.

This is "Goner Darksei." (that was meant to be a placeholder name, but I never got around to replacing it) Lore-wise, this is what Ralsei looked like before Chapter 1. Basically, Ralsei is a Goner and part of the lore of this is that Goners are a kind of Darkner or some kind of Lightner/Darkner hybrid (I still haven't decided yet) and also that they don't naturally have souls. Anyway, either before or during the intro to Chapter 1, Ralsei was given a soul. They transformed into the form they currently has.

If you're familiar with @lynxgriffin's idea of what Ralsei's deal is, you can probably see where this is going, since I kind of stole theirs for this.

Ralsei was given Kris's Soul and its appearance shifted according to Kris's insecurities. This is only about Ralsei's appearance, by the way, not its personality. Under this idea, Ralsei's personality is its own and not based on Kris's insecurities. Presumably, if someone else had their soul put in Ralsei (e.g. Susie), his appearance would be different.

"Goner Darksei" is essentially its default state, what it looks like without a soul. After giving Kris their soul back at the end of Chapter 6, Ralsei slowly turns back into its default state throughout Chapter 7.

This is "Ralsei Regression," as I call it. As I said, throughout Chapter 7, Ralsei regresses back to his default state. You may notice that the hole in their chest goes away.

If you're wondering why the reverse doesn't happen in Chapter 1, I have two explanations I'm not particularly confident in. One, the reverse did happen, and the hat covered it. Two, transforming from a default state into its current state is faster than the reverse and happened before Kris and Susie met it.

You may notice that Goner Darksei's leg movements are different. By which I mean you won't notice because literally no one did when I finalized Goner Ralsei's design last month and did that same thing. Basically, throughout Chapter 7, he is low on energy on account of no longer having a Soul. I believe Kris moves the way they do during the endings of chapters 1 and 2 for the same reason. Ralsei doesn't naturally have a soul, so it moves slightly faster than Kris, but going back to not having one after about a week of having one is a draining experience, hence why they still moves slowly.

While I'm here, here's an animation I made showing Ralsei regressing. This isn't how the process would actually work, but it looks cool, in my opinion.

Another idea I had for this is that Kris's Dark World appearance also changes at the end of Chapter 6, with their skin and hair looking more like their Light World appearance. I did make sprites for those, called "Restored Kris," which you can see here:

Yes, the 4channers were awful and they persist in misgendering me, while simultaneously complaining I don't post anymore, with zero self awareness.

4chan harassment alone isn't why I left. This is.

It's the transphobia.

I have been in the fandom since 2015. I have been arguing with transphobes in the fandom since 2015. I have been making write ups about why it's important not to misgender the - yes, fictional - characters since 2015, because of the complete lack of caring it communicates to real nonbinary people.

Last year, I wrote a post that got 7000 notes and is currently pinned to the Deltarune subreddit. I poured my heart out about what the nonbinary characters meant to me and why they were important.

It was argued over, I was mocked for it, I included personal details about my family situation and my difficulty coming out, I was mocked for it.

I wrote it because I believed it mattered. Because for eight years, the constant comment when mentioning the pronouns of these characters has been: Who cares?

At any point since 2015, Toby could have saved the transgender people in the fandom the trouble of having to "prove" the characters were nonbinary by saying something.

Last year, Legends of Localization comes out - thoroughly reviewed by Toby - and calls Frisk, Monster Kid, and Napstablook "ambiguous", designed to have an unclear gender.

You can see in the collage of screenshots how the transphobes in the fandom took that. One delightful individual was so triumphant over the victory, they put the statement in their Reddit subtitle.

So each time this individual posts to the Undertale subreddit, people will see this quote, carried around like a trophy with all the pride of a dog with a rotting pelt in its mouth. That's how much it meant to the transphobes in the fandom. They're delighted by having this quote to throw back in the faces of transgender fans.

Because who cares? The majority of the fandom isn't transgender, or on tumblr. It's easy for them not to care about transgender people.

You can block block block as many people as you want (I had thousands blocked here) but you can't curate your way out of transphobia. It isn't possible.

Because the majority of the fandom is on Reddit, or YouTube, or Twitter, and they, quite vocally, do not care about transgender people.

Some people may recall that I stopped posting to the Deltarune subreddit after the mods decided to filter all posts containing the word "nonbinary" without telling anyone.

The mods stopped filtering the word after I posted this and apologized, but the point was made: people in the greater fandom think the word "nonbinary" is a dangerous, impolite word, one that only invokes argument and therefore should not be used.

So I stopped posting on the Deltarune and Undertale subreddits. I never made YouTube or Twitter content. I set my blog to only allow people with Tumblr accounts to view it. I turned off all asks, anonymous or otherwise. I blocked thousands of people. It did not work. Transgender people can't curate (read: quarantine) our way out of transphobia.

Years of this, of transgender fans of the series getting attacked for trying to claim and fight for nonbinary representation in the series, and "ambiguous" is the language Toby signed off on.

If the characters are meant to be nonbinary representation, the last eight years has proven that this needs to be stated outright, or the onus of "proving" it falls on the vastly outnumbered transgender fans in the fandom - something that we have never been able to do without being profusely harassed for it until we shut our mouths.

If the characters were only ever meant to be ambiguous for the sake of "freedom of interpretation", then this should have been communicated with seriousness and respect to the transgender fans of the series years ago, not as a throwaway line in a translation book. (and to be clear, this is not at all the author's fault - Toby corrected and reviewed the language used)

This is why I left and why I'm never coming back, no matter what happens next. I have had enough of the transphobia in the fandom, and I have no way of fighting back anymore.

Transphobes in the fandom want the work and the passion of nonbinary people but won't even use a pronoun to show the basest level of respect and humanity for us.

I'm watching our rights being taken away day by day, and people like this just want me to keep producing my worthless little game theory posts.

Trans people don't owe you our "content" or our passion, particularly not when we produce it for free in the face of eight years of a deeply transphobic audience that we are expected to either beg for the most basic respect or to turn our heads down and hide away from so they can continue either hating us or pretending we don't exist or that that part of us doesn't matter.

"Who cares?"

When people ask this in response to talking about being nonbinary or respecting pronouns, they know transgender people care.

What they're saying is, who cares about transgender people?

For this reason, I'm requesting people not archive anything I've written, though I know I can't enforce this. That includes the Character Analysis and the "(Characters) are nonbinary why it matters" post, which I wrote in such profoundly naive good faith. For every "who cares" I have received over eight years of being transgender in this fandom.

If my identity as a nonbinary person doesn't matter, if nonbinary people don't exist, then neither does the content I made which they feel so entitled to, even while misgendering me.

I can't even think about this series without becoming angry and miserable anymore. That is the lasting, final impression the art has had on me. I can't think about it or the characters without remembering how little transgender people matter to most of the world. I've had to completely cut it out my life. There's no rage as potent as the helpless one. "Who cares?" I can't make people care.

You can't have the creations and art and "content" made by transgender people and our destruction at the same time. And maybe you can't prevent our destruction either, but you sure as hell can use a damn pronoun.

Perisex allies: stop this shit

Came across this infographic during some google image searching and I'm still kind of a state of despair about it because it's not just offensively wrong about what intersex is, it was used to teach university students about queer issues:

It's one thing for your rando perisex person to be getting this wrong on social media. It's another thing entirely when it's professionals getting this wrong in an educational setting. 😩 And that this infographic appears in a peer-reviewed publication. 😩

It's even worse to know the students that were taught with this infographic were medical students, who will be the ones traumatizing intersex people for decades to come 😩

It's so wrong in so many different ways:

Intersex is not limited to people with genital differences. Most intersex people have intersex variations that are not apparent at birth, with puberty being the most common time of life for variations to present. Many people find out in adulthood having no outward physical differences.

Of the intersex people with genital differences, they do not have two sets of genitals. Most genital differences are still recognizably female or male (e.g. spadias), and those who have ambiguous genitals have one set.

Intersex is not "male parts + female parts" or even "intermediate male/female parts", it is an umbrella term for anybody whose primary/secondary sex characteristics don't line up with what is expected for male and female bodies. Some intersex variations make women look more feminine, or make men look more masculine.

Defining intersex by genital differences doesn't just exclude most intersex people, it also sets the tone that we are defined by our genitals. To be publicly intersex is to have non-stop DMs about your genitals. This sort of framing sets up openly intersex people for invasive questions and harassment, and it keeps large numbers of intersex people from coming out.

Many intersex variations do not have a known genetic basis. Many intersex variations are caused by exposure to certain hormonal levels in the womb. Certain medications when taken during pregnancy can trigger intersex variations.

While bodily variation is necessary for being intersex, the social experience of stigma, discrimination, isolation, hyper-medicalization, and hyper-sexualization are all just as much a part of being intersex.

📣 Perisex allies: this is shit you can stop. When you see other perisex people parrot this sort of misinformation, correct them. Direct them to look up resources written by actually intersex people.

If you're someone who does not earn money or cannot donate because you're a child and you're under the care of a guardian but still want to help the suffering Palestinians this is a list that can help you

Educate yourself! I cannot stress how important this is. Stay up to date with the latest news and learn about the history of Palestine so you do not get confused by propaganda.

Boost posts about Palestine and spread awareness! Share posts about Palestine [make sure to fact check] and talk to your families and friends to do the same (it's understandable if you cannot talk about these things with your family and friends though). Follow Palestinian journalists and other people who are stuck in gaza. Boost their posts.

Do not engage with zionists! Troll bots are becoming more and more common and engaging with them will only benefit them. Ignore and move on. The world stands with Palestine and we do not need to prove that.

Save evidence! The governments WILL DENY the genocide they are committing and will try their best to remove evidence from all social media platforms. Save videos, articles, and pictures so that you have a strong evidence base to present when the time comes.

Show your solidarity! Put a watermelon in your bio, wear red green black and white colours, put a Palestinian flag on your schoolbag. Every little thing counts.

Boycott! Avoid McDonald's, Starbucks and other companies that support israel. Ask your parents to eat somewhere else if they suggest McDonald's, and ask your friends to choose a different cafe if they go to starbucks.

Email your representatives! Make some noise, demand a ceasefire

Do daily clicks! Any myth of this NOT going to Palestine has been debunked, and it doesn't take any time to simply click one button. It makes money through ad revenues

So, Cerise has an AU where Dess, Ralsei, and Chara are the protagonists of a sitcom.

I tried including Ralsei's and Chara's, but they looked bad so I decided to remove them and since didn't make sense to exclude theirs but include Dess's I also removed Dess's.

At first, I didn't want to include details on the shirts of Ralsei and Chara, but I gave it some thought and decided to do so. I kind of like the result.
