The creature seemed to be amused by the thought of her robbing the government. Good; he knew she was telling the truth and she was more likely to get out of this alive. Page waited on his response. His skin became flesh colored - that had to be good. She relaxed slightly.

Then he spoke again. Her mood plummeted.

Keep her around? He couldn’t just keep her; she had things to do and a system to disrupt. However, she wasn’t about to threaten him. She wasn’t sure if she could harm him at all, and he surely knew that, to let his guard down. She’d have to wait to make a move.

“What, am I your employee now?” She joked. She hoped it sounded genuine and ignorant, and not like the calculated move it was. His answer would determine if she was a prisoner to this man or not.

Page cursed internally at the creature’s words. She’d completely forgotten she was wearing a military uniform. She’d been in the middle of stealing military files, and had knocked someone out for their uniform. ‘That’s what I get for trying to blend in’  She thought grumpily

She hoped against hope that the creature would believe her. She doubted it.
