Hey again, everyone! For the curious, yesterday's teeth question has been resolved. The runner of this Gundam askblog (and by extension their friend who runs this Souda askblog [warning for spoilers]) confirmed for me that there is no canon explanation concerning Souda's teeth.
I've had a number of people try to tell me otherwise (without providing sources), however. Therefore, in order to clear things up I've provided a more thorough explanation + sources of why this is so under the cut.
Why there isn't a canon origin:
Alrighty. First up, the full game has been translated through various translators by using a combination of the SA forums and of the kuzuhiko and birdmanronpa tumblrs. They cover the entirety of the game, with the exception of Dangan Island (the sidegame) and various Free Time events. However, Souda's FTEs have all been translated and are available here: 1/2/3/4/5
If you've read through the whole game, I'm sure you know as well as I do that his teeth aren't mentioned. So how about his FTEs?
Naturally, we're most interested in the last one, because that's where Souda comes clean about his appearance and what he's done to it.
To quote:
SOUDA: I actually… I actually wear contacts.
HINATA: Wh-what the, that’s what you were in a hurry to tell me?
SOUDA: This hair color was something I had tried for the first time, too. I’d never done anything like that before.
See, I knew it was better to get it all out here rather than inside.
And that's all he confesses. The last line makes it sound like he's laid it all out on the table; and as you'll notice, he said nothing about his teeth.
But wait, what if he talks about it in Dangan Island?? True, I don't have any proof to go on atm for that one beyond the word of a Japanese-speaker as stated above. Still, I think it's unlikely for him to talk about what he's done to his appearance in any situation outside of his last FT event, given that it took him that long to open up to Hinata about the other parts of his appearance.
If you're still not convinced, here's some more discussion from a different angle.
Why filing his teeth is unlikely to be canon:
teeth-filing is permanent and a huge step away from the societal norm, unlike Souda's switch to dyed hair and contacts which are more common.  Rather than making him look tough or cool, were his teeth a self-imposed choice they would make him look frightening and animalistic which isn't quite what he was going for. "I wanted to look cool and fun to be with," he says; however, sharpened teeth in real life context don't give off that vibe. (Also, it's probably dangerous to do that to your teeth all by yourself....)
Considering how often we in the real world point out his sharp teeth, it almost comes as a surprise that no one, not even Souda, points them out in game as well. This hints that shark teeth (or exaggerated fangs, which are also common in anime) are somewhat unremarkable or fairly commonplace in the fictional world DR characters inhabit. It's very similar in that respect to Rin Matsuoka from Free!'s teeth: they aren't mentioned as strange in-universe, but instead are used by the character designers as a personality shorthand.
So What does this mean?
It means you can headcanon whatever the heck you want!! If you want to say he filed his teeth, that's totally fine! 100% cool! You could pretty easily debate the points I made above. But it's not strictly canon, and so other people are free to think what they want as well and can't be overridden. That's basically what I'm trying to say here.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps lay out what exactly is canon for y'all to play with!

She sure didn't trust much in my skills when we first knew each other-- didn't think I could do anythin' to help 'er worn-out games. But I showed her up all right! Now she comes t'me with all kinds'a stuff. We get along pretty well, yeah.
