i love how garnet and pearl are just continuing to use the name of their infamous guerilla military organization while their current jobs are fighting lv4 rpg monsters and giving each other basket weaving seminars. and steven has no context for this and just thinks of "The Crystal Gems" as basically the name for his mom's side of the family. so he walks up to lapis and says "you should hang out with me and my treehouse friends, the Viet Cong!"

i love how fucked up the concept of hereditary guilt is (like the idea of the "sins of the father" or bastardry laws). what if your ancestors fucked up so bad that your agency in whether or not to accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions was considered forfeit before you were even born. doomed by the bloodline.

Steven Universe got blatantly and unapologetically cancelled by the network because the creators pushed for a lesbian wedding, and instead of going, "oh, fuck, that's incredibly homophobic, we should give Cartoon Network hell for that for the rest of forever, holy shit," everyone collectively decided to blame the crew for "rushing the ending" as if it wasn't completely out of their hands. Fuck's sake.

steven is a really funny character actually. he never went to school. one of his powers is astral projection for no real reason. hes a musical prodigy. he was so traumatized by the end of the show they had to make an entire epilogue series about it. he spent seven years looking like a 3rd grader. he was even bisexual

watched the su movie when it came out in 2019, 9 days before moving away for university, and i watched it again now ive graduated uni (BA(Hons) in animation!) and i am SO emotional. i love this little show
