Baobao left us a month ago today. We’re remembering him by looking back at his birthdays over the years - starting with the first picture we have of him from his breeder! Our tradition was to get him a balloon, go for a nice walk, then cook him a “surf and turf” dinner of steak and salmon with a birthday candle. Sharing some photos today of Bao’s earliest days. He came into the world on 8/18/2014 and joined OUR world on 10/26/2014. Baobao was the smallest in a litter of 4 boys, 2 red and 2 black. He loved to sit in our laps as a tiny puppy. And you can see he was so brave in his first vet appointment at @murrayhillpethospital! Our hearts are full of sorrow as we share that our beautiful Baobao left us very suddenly yesterday. He was hospitalized on Monday morning and the doctors suspected stomach issues at first (infection or ingesting a poison), but after workup they moved towards more neurological causes. An MRI yesterday revealed a tumor nearly half the size of his brain, and he did not wake up from the anesthesia. Baobao’s superpower was to bring joy to everyone around him. We can’t count the number of times a stranger in a park or on the sidewalk said “This is the best thing that’s happened to me all day!” or “This is exactly what I needed today” after meeting him. Welcoming him into our family was a blessing and an honor that we will remember forever. And he is the reason we know all of you – thank you for being his friends, fans, and IG family. We will keep this account going for a few weeks to post some previously unshared photos and some highlights of his very special time with us. After that we will freeze the account but leave it up so his light can continue to shine. Baobao would not want us to be sad.
