“Sure, I’ll play you another tune, but it’ll cost you an apple.”
Greetings and Salutations are in order for a most wondrous audience. You have found yourself in presence of one of Mondstadt’s many bards. Know to come and go like the wind this bard has a striking ability to appear at just the right time. While apple will win his favor to strum out a request, a bottle of his favorite wine will bring a sonnet out just for you.
So Traveler, are you here to listen? Or do you have an apple or bottle to spear?

erabundus:
mondstadt was filled with MUSIC — almost as much as it was wine. yet something about this song in particular had managed to catch his attention. it wasn’t like the wanderer to loiter; to do so practically came as a contradiction to his title. despite that, he found himself lingering at the back of the crowd — a shadow ominously lurking at the edge of such a rapturous celebration. he would only stay for a little while, the wanderer had reasoned. ( trying to bargain with himself. trying to rationalize his decision. ) long enough to hear the song to its very end — and then he would disappear once more into the city of freedom’s streets.
the wanderer blinked as an unfamiliar figure appeared before him. he didn’t have time to SPEAK before fingers suddenly wrapped around his hand — tugging him ( though not unkindly ) into the fray. ❝ … h — hey, wait! ❞
ah. change of plans, then; guess he was doing this.
the wanderer wasn’t familiar with mondstadt’s style of dance — yet he was no STRANGER to the art in general. ( even if it had been a while. ) his movements were elegant and precise, swift as the lightning strike, energetic as the wind. experience made it easy to settle into a rhythm, actions guided by subconscious thought alone — a very good thing indeed, as he was apparently also expected to hold up a conversation. ❝ my song would hardly be worth dancing to. ❞ the wanderer quipped, with a graceful spin. a song inspired by his story would probably kill the mood. bleed mirth from the atmosphere like a fatal wound. no one wanted to hear that.
❝ i’m just a wanderer; do i need a reason to go anywhere? ❞ his gaze flicked, briefly, to the shining gem displayed so PROUDLY on his chest. ❝ perhaps i merely wanted to see what interesting things this city of wind and song has to offer. ❞ … perhaps he wanted to learn what freedom truly meant.
“Not worth dancing too?” He echoed noting the style. His own steps moving to mimic the storms of a far away land. How long had it been since she last danced with the him? Fond memories of long meetings breaking out into mirth when he was given his chance to shine. A warm breeze coiled around the pair rustling their clothes playfully.
He took a step back bowing to the wanderer. “Ehe~ You must think your song could inspire a revolution then if it is not one to dance too. One that rouses the fallen into an enraptured state. It would call even the meekest to travel as you do now.”
The music died down as the bard pulled himself close to the wanderer amused. Sky colored eyes bore into deep stormy pools. The bard smiled stepping back looking at the vision. “It’s strange how anemo bearers always arrive in Mondstadt. Did you let the wind guide you here?” He tilted his head smiling, “Did you hear our bards singing of the storms that once cracked the sky and harsh winds that not even a bird could fly through?”
The wind pushed against them cold and biting. The chill felt as though a wolf had nipped at them. “Lush lands once hidden in snow. I often wonder if those gifted that vision come here to quell a storm of their own. Ehe~ though I think an apple and a fine wine on sunny day can chase away any bothersome old thought. Don’t you?”

@erabundus found a Bard
Venti hummed his fingers light dancing across the lyre. Sky colored eyes looked at the crowd who came and went. His eyes locked an a figure. The faint sight of a green orb caused a smile to creep upon his lips. Another bard’s voice filled the palaze with song. The melody coiling around people as Venti’s steps seemed to cut into the visitor’s path. A flourishing bow and the bard straightened taking other anemo user’s hand.
“Come now! You can’t pass through without a dance!” He declared pulling the poor man into a dance circle that had started. Children were giggling watching the pair.
He led the other through light airy steps. The dances in Mondstadt were always so airy and citizen’s dance looked ethereal to outsiders. “So what you led here? Ehe~ we always do love a good traveler to share stories. They always inspire the best songs.”

“Why fight when you can negotiate?”
“If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.”
“I do that quite a lot yet people are always surprised.”
“This is either madness or brilliance.”
“The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.”
“Crazy people don’t know they’re crazy. I know I’m crazy, therefore I’m not crazy, isn’t that crazy?”
“You lied to me by telling me the truth?”
“What a horrible way to live.”
“How did you get here?”
“Dying is the day worth living for.”
“Better mad with the rest of the world than sane alone.”
“Fortune has clearly brought us here.”
“I should have told you every day from the moment I met you. I love you.”
“[name], there is more to you than meets the eye, isn’t there? And the eye does not go wanting.”
“This is madness.”
“You’re off the edge of the map, mate. Here, there are monsters.”
“Speak up! Or do you fancy a swim with Davy Jones?”
“This is barbaric!”
“Everything you said to me, every word was a lie!”
“What’s in your head, boy?”
“You cheated!”
“Do you fear death?”
“Life is cruel. Why should the afterlife be any different?”
“That’s very kind of you.”
“Think you can outrun the world?”
“How dare you do exactly what I would do if I were you.”
“I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request.”
“You’d best start believing in ghost stories, Missie. You’re in one!”
“The world used to be a bigger place.”
“Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again.”

Venti’s laughter was light watching the residents wander about the festival. A gentle tug on his cape pulled him away from festival to chase the kids who attended the festival. He smiled falling into a small patch of flowers. He watched the children run back and forth a few asking for song.
The bard laughed standing his lips moving producing a newer song. He took the hands of one young girl spinning her in a circle.
“There will come a soldier
Who carries a mighty sword
He will tear your city down”
Venti sang watching as a young boy with a toy sword rushed forward to do battle with another boy. Their laughter carried by the wind as he started to head back towards the festival leaving them to play their games.
“Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh, Lord
He will tear your city down
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh, Lord”

The hand offered to him came to a surprise, not only for the entire tavern but to Capitano himself as well. There were few that dared to approach him and even fewer to desired him to partake in such leisurely events. But, despite his exterior and his pragmatic nature…he was not one to decline an offer.
Moments of contemplation ended as he gave a simple nod, accepting the bard’s hand so that he did not leave Venti hanging. A firm grasp and a small yank, the captain reigned the bard towards him. It was all in an effort to help himself stand up as well as to spin the lad in a small twirl - keeping up the festivities on this cold night.
Although he was not lively in his dance, not with his heavy coat that kept him warm in the frozen tundra in the north, he would be a good contrast to the young bard. A solid foundation. Elegant and noble, as he moved just enough to let the bard dance as he pleased, following Venti around the tavern and always making sure to pull the bard back in so that he wouldn’t lose his dance partner for the night.
And like a pack of wolves, the soldiers who had followed him relaxed and took the opportunity to get up and join the dancing as well. A moment of peace and true Mondstadt festivity that could melt winter snows into cooling springs just like their Anemo Archon they cherish so much - a gift Capitano can admire.
However, it would only be when he had moments of privacy within the bustling chatter of the crowd would he speak directly towards Venti.
❝ It takes a talented bard to join our people together like this. ❞
A compliment and an observation. Capitano continued to keep his gaze on the bard. Curiosity had turned into admiration as he was joyful for the warmth he did not expect to find this night.
Venti’s laughter seemed to mix with the notes of music, leading the captain through old steps of a dance he had learned. Steps that were taught to be by a citizen with brilliant red hair. “You flatter me, but love and freedom have always been drawn to each other. It’s natural for people to create such gifts!”
He hummed allowing himself to be spun free so only his the tips of his fingers kept them locked. Few dared to separate the bard from his partner of the night. The precise steps of a noble contrasting to his own flighty ones. How long had it been since he danced with a citizen of ice and snow?
He let himself be pulled till he could stare up at the helm that hid the face. The air in the small tavern feeling so much more like the ones at Windblume or even Ludi Harpastum. “I’m surprised you took such an offer to dance with us.” Sky colored eyes flickered back towards agents who chattered to freely about their own travels to citizens. Topics kept light and inviting, a night of calm.
“It’s takes a wise captain to lead his soldiers through a peaceful moment.” He complimented back. Venti had run into a few more unsavory agents who had chased the bards till they sat back at the edge of town. A vexing moment for the fresh faced bards who only sought to perform. He stumbled a bit in his steps hands shooting out to grip the thick material of the coat.
“Do.. You travel as well?”

@divine-honour : liked post
The bard looked around the quiet town square. Not a single tap of foot steps to be heard, no lights of taverns to warm him. Only the gentle creaks of signs from curious winds that traveled through the city.
He held out his hand tapping the foot of one wisp that appeared giggling before vanishing back into the wind. He hummed a melody stepping on to the fountain ledge. His hands moving composing the winds to play out a gentle song on the empty bottles left out from the bar and with the creaks of signs. Spring filled eyes looked on amused as wisps followed his hand movements like a proper orchestra.
“On the wings of a small, simple melody
Words take flight and soar
They carry me, a world we'll see”
He sang head lulling to smile at Jean. “I didn’t know we were having a guest. The wind swirled playfully around her ruffling her uniform.

The bard sang softly letting his feet carry him along the path. He didn’t care for where he headed. Allowing the winds to push and pull him along the path, he had forgotten his fondness for wandering so far from the land of spring.
