So this is my main blog, I'm a rather lamp obsessed artist who draws weird aliens and reblogs pictures of cute parrot. You can pretty much ask me anything about my projects and get an answer. Commissions are open
Bit of musing, it's kinda strange that fabric art or basic fabric creation is not really teach in school. May have been in other schools but my public school didn't really. We did get a home-ec class (until the school cut the budget for it lol) and one teacher who started a knitting class.
It's just a bit sad that something like fabric which is in every part of everyday life gets less focus then like electricity. Electricity is important but having like a unit for kids about how fabric is made would be just as important.
You could even set up little frame looms for kids to do hands on stuff, or use it in math classes, as they're is a fair amount of it in there lol.
Yesterday I got the big wool blankets warped up on the loom at the studio. It looks like Lisa Frank barf and I love it. It took almost the whole weekend to warp and I only got about 20 minutes of actual weaving in before I had to leave. I wanna go back!!
Thanks! I have done some weaving before in university though that was a few years ago at this point and on a well cared for floor loom that the school had.
That loom had wire heddles and a separate beater so the rigde heddle was definitely a bit of a learning curve almost had a diagonal line before I fixed how I was using my beater lol
Finished my first weaving project on the loom I got for my birthday
It's pretty rough (like my poor edges at the start are a mess) but it's nice to get back into weaving
Minewolf 🐺 🦗🧨
(Novacanis Liquidus Detonare) or Xittocoyotl
"Large insectoid canines with a sharp explosion-proof exoskeleton. They carry and produce a blue liquid in their body akin to nitroglycerine which they eject to defend and attack. Whilst solitary they can group together like a wolf pack and excel at hunting.
Thanks to their unmatched sense of smell they’re able to detect hazards early, the odor of mines and other explosives even if in different states of matter, becoming incredibly useful to demine fields after undergoing training and domestication. This species can be avoidant of humans however but once trust is gained they may become loyal companions."
