Currently on episode 2 of Vincenzo, and Hong Cha Young is already the most annoying character I have ever watched...including any of Go Ara's characters. She talks too much, is absolutely disgusting to her father, and has a serious attitude problem. I don't even care if she has some sort of redemption/revelation after her father dies, I seriously consider not watching further because of her painful annoyance. Will keep updated.

An honest review of Euphoria:

1. First, I love Zendaya and her acting, but I do not like Rue. I thought that maybe it was because I don't like that version of an addict, but even when she's sober, I dont like her.

2. I know that Lexi has been a background character for a majority of the first season and the first half of the second season, but oh my fucking gawd...how are you just going to humiliate your sister and friends like that...like what is the point of her play?

3. I'm really over this self centered, high school centric, troupe of teenage angst that's everywhere (especially with Rue's "I'll destroy your life" bullshit). Like just because a man (dude is 20 years old, hitting on a 16/17 year old), shows you some attention, you're suddenly going to completely abandon your sister like that? It makes Lexi just as bad as Cassie in the man department.

4. Here's a food-for-thought...how about getting actual help in the godforsaken show, rather than completely abandoning the person who needs it the most (ie Cassie, Rue, etc). Especially Cassie, who literally just had an abortion, and no one is going to address the psychological toll that takes on an already unstable girl?

Like I found the show somewhat interesting, but I'll admit that I skipped through a lot of Rue's parts. I like the honest perspective of how addiction can ruin lives, but I think the show really needs to focus on mental health if it's going to promote a positive influence. I have yet to see one professional therapy session...especially when the entire character roll call needs it.

ITS OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY

I finished this kdrama, and all I want to do is wipe my memory and watch it again. The acting, the story line, the suspense, all of those were beyond amazing.

Firstly, the focus of the show is NOT mental illness. The focus, and message, is trauma and how it effects everyone differently. I saw someone on an online forum complain about how it romanticized and glamorized mental illness, and could not help but roll my eyes. None of the characters, besides Mun-yeong's mother had a mental illness (Sang-tae has autism, but the actor clarified that it was not an "illness, but rather something he was born with", which I personally think made the character more amazing, since the focus was not his autism). The message is how differently trauma affects us, our perspectives and perception of life, and how difficult it can be to overcome it. I feel the need to reiterate about trauma, because it played such an important part of each characters' development.

Second, the characters and their development was so amazing to watch (especially the main characters' relationship(s)). I enjoyed how the background characters (the patients) were meticulously weaved into the story to help the main characters. Also, the usage of fairy tales was beautiful, as it highlighted the darker meaning of those stories (many fairy tales actually originate from much darker story lines, but are translated differently in order to market to children; (do not) look up the origins of Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, and Snow White if you are 18+). I also really loved Oh Jung-se's portrayal of Moon Sang-tae, as it was very humanized and respectful, while also adding many characteristics of autism that are not always shown in media.

Lastly, the ending. I enjoyed that the story continued after the epic climax, bring conclusion to all of the characters, even the special appearances. Being able to watch the "what happens afterwards" was very good, especially when you considering the trauma the climax added onto the main three. The character development and evolution is just spectacular, and it was all wrapped up beautifully (though I still wonder if Jae-su and Seung-jae got together, and if Mun-yeong and Gang-tae had a baby boy ㅋㅋㅋ).

What would I change? **spoilers**

I really wished that Mun-yeong could have had some reconciliation with her father before he died, especially if you take into account that his dying wish was to protect his daughter. I understand the way it was written, but I really hope that Gang-tae told Mun-yeong what her father said, how he had accepted that he would never be able to get her to forgive him. This also makes me wonder if he was never actually trying to kill her, but trying to kill his wife, since Mun-yeong resembled her. The one time we see him attack her (with context), or when he was afraid of her, I wonder how lucid he actually was.

Final thoughts

I am going to rewatch it as soon as I push "post". This story made me laugh and cry (a lot). I loved the family that Mun-yeong and the Moon brothers created; Sang-tae becoming her actual older brother, while Gang-tae finally got his childhood sweetheart. I also enjoyed the love story between the two, how they both understood each other, how Gang-tae taught Mun-yeong to open her heart and never giving up on her, and how Mun-yeong helped Gang-tae reconnect with himself.

Keto 2/22/21

I am so proud of myself yesterday! I had an entire 24 hour fast from Saturday to Sunday. I'm trying not to weight myself everyday, but I did today just to see, and I was 265.6lbs (so down 2.2lbs in 5 days). I'm thinking of starting to do the 24hr fast twice a week, definitely from Saturday to Sunday (noon-noon), and maybe once during the week, while also doing 16/8 normally.

Pairing intermittent fasting with Keto has helped me a lot in the past, even when I was in college and just doing intermittent fasting. I had better energy and cognitive performance.

I also ordered some keto-friendly pasta replacements, as well as some bone broth (not gonna spend 8 hours cooking that stuff), so I'll review them when I get them and try them!

Restarting Keto

I think everyone can agree that last year was rough on everyone, especially some of our diets. I had previously done keto twice, losing twenty pounds the first time, regaining thirty, and then losing thirty again.

Currently, I started at 267.8 on 2/17. This is my highest weight ever, and after struggling with mental health and an eating disorder, I have found that Keto has worked the best for me. As of 2/21, I am at 266.4.

I am hoping to use this blog to keep myself in check, and can hopefully break away from my emotional eating and eating disorder. Wish me luck!

The flu sucks.

Is the only thing you can think of while your headache increases and your continued putting up with your nose make you feel like when you were a baby, a little girl struggling with the worst flu ever.

You observe the desolation of tissues around you, thinking that you couldn’t clean up that mess even with the last shred of strength that you have left in your body. You cough, having to lay a hand on your head because of the pangs that cough causes you, throwing then head against the pillow staring with vacuous gaze at the ceiling.

Everything would be so much nicer if you could get Leeteuk close to you, but you “inadvertently omitted” to your boyfriend how bad you were. You don’t want to worry him nor make him sick, then you have preferred to avoid to tell him and force him to be your personal nurse.

The voice of your favorite actor captures your attention, which is still very low due to the fever that inflames your head, body and even your toes, trying somehow to follow the drama’s episode you’re watching at that time. 

You sneeze, mentally cursing, taking the cell phone hidden in the folds of the bed sheets by sending a message to your sister. You’re practically begging her to take cough syrup and any medicine useful for the fever and you hope that she’ll accept your prayer as soon as possible.

“But why me… Aaah, I hurt everywhere. ” You complain, turning angrily off the television and putting you sitting impatiently. You look back to the tissues “graveyard” and with a sigh start collect them all, by pouring it into the bucket that you keep appropriately and beside the bed. Behold, now you think your living space has improved by a thousand times and go back to wind up yourself under the covers, hiding beneath them.

You’re about to fall asleep when you hear Leeteuk’s voice in the living room but for a moment you think it’s just the fever that can make you see and feel untrue things.

“WHY THE HECK DIDN’T YOU TELL ME BRAT?? WHERE ARE YOU? DAMN, I SWEAR THIS TIME I DON’T LET YOU GO! IF YOU’RE SICK, YOU HAVE TO TELL ME, DAMN YOU. ”

You arch an eyebrow and think it’s impossible that your mind produces a scenario so apocalyptic, so you completely hide under the covers so that nobody can see you. Of course they can see you but fever fails to make you think straight, so you keep quiet and plug your mouth to not issue a single sound.

“Y/N I CAN SEE YOU! GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE! ”

“Oppa!” You groan in pain, moving just the covers so you discover only the eyes and the tip of your small and thin nose. You look at him and you realize that it isn’t a vision, but it’s so angry that you’d rather go hide under the covers. And it’s what you do, accepting the darkness of that lucky “fortress” with joy.

“Y/N” He screams again and catches you completely, you scream blinded by the sudden light and cover your face with your arms, feeling humiliated for wearing Pajamas at that time. Cats and flannel aren’t considered very sexy and you always tried to show a more “sexy” side in his presence, avoiding with panic to get him to even a glimpse of your Pajamas for the “flu”.

You squeeze your eyes hard, preparing you to his rant but the seconds pass and you don’t hear nothing from him. So you reopen only the left eye, watching as he stops beside the bed and looks at you, almost out of place compared to the fury that seemed just before

“Y/N”.

“Oppa.. Are you done yelling? ”

“Yes.. ” He whispers and back to cover  you with blankets, swelling them right under you so you don’t even have a body part discoveries except the face and part of your shoulders. You seem more like a Mummy at the time, but it’s nice to feel that that “bundle” causes you.

He sits down next to you and starts to slide your forehead, moving away some hair stuck to the skin because of the slight veil of sweat pearls your skin. You look at him and smile, releasing the arm from under the covers and going to shake his hand in yours. You softly pat with your thumb on the back of his hand, that hand so often attracted you to him or touch lightly you in ways prohibited as just sweet, continuing to watch him with a small, almost shy smile.

“Oppa… What.. How did you do that? ”

“You sent the message to me and not your sister… You must be really gripped with high fever if you mess up recipient that way ”

You puff and start coughing, having to turn your face so as not to get your bacteria on him. However you don’t want to get him sick and you don’t mind that your forgetfulness, or rather your confusion due to fever, he returned home in spite of your influence.

“What are you staring at? And why did you suddenly stopped screaming before Oppa? ”

“How do you expect that can feel me seeing you in this state hate!”

“Disgusted… I’m a monster. ”

You let yourself get away and a little pinch on your cheek making you moan with pain, so you gave him your best death glare and pinch him back into the side that extends directly towards your hand.

“If you’re a monster right now, then at your best what are you? Don’t answer, I already know… Now get some rest while I take care of you. ”

“What if you g–” You rarly to say but a sneeze shakes you and you hide your face again the tissue, wondering who the heck did you get a health so precarious. You start fidgeting in bed desperate, causing him to nearly fall out of bed, and screaming at the ceiling all your frustration and anger. You hate being sick but especially hate having to be stuck in the house all the time.

“Jagiya. Now you stay quite, calm and rest or I swear I’ll destroy all your Naruto’s manga in one fell swoop. ”

“YOU WOULDN’T DARE EVER OPPA!”

“Don’t test me kid.”

And with those last words he swipes his lips gently against your forehead, making to you an amused wink, then he gets up and puts another package of tissue on the bed next to you.

“I HATE YOU, OPPA, YOU’RE REALLY BAD!”

“Yes, but at least I’m sure you rest… Threaten Naruto is always the fastest way to get something from you. ”

You fix him and throw against him the package of tissue. Yes, the flu is now the thing you hate most in the world. Maybe more than your obnoxious boyfriend.
