This is super interesting to me because it’s the first time I’ve ever seen or heard him alluding to the Nandor/Guillermo relationship as romantic. He’s usually massively over-careful not to label any emotions where they’re concerned.

I’ve finally finished my WWDITS rewatch and I am ready to make my Season 5 predictions! This is based on nothing more than me watching the show like a laser-focused Nandermo hunter and also me thinking about what I’d do if I was writing it. So.

- Guillermo becomes a vampire. I just can’t see any other narrative arc making sense. He’s clearly being set up to mirror Nandor - both are going through with the wrong wishes because they’ve fundamentally misunderstood what they need in order for them to be happy.

Nandor’s been searching for perfection, both for his partner and for himself, and although he’s starting to learn that perfection is pretty pointless he hasn’t yet really clocked why that is. His last roll of the dice in season 4 was to make his perfect spouse become what he thinks is the perfect partner for Guillermo. He’s almost there! He’s so close! But he hasn’t yet made the mental leap to realise that what he likes about Freddie is that Guillermo likes him, and that makes Guillermo perfect to Nandor.

Meanwhile Guillermo is doing the WWDITS version of buying an exercise machine and loads of self-help books on the first of January and loudly telling everyone that he’s A WHOLE NEW PERSON NOW. Bad luck, Guillermo, vampire you will still be you! But he has to realise that, and realise that he was already loved for who he was. He doesn’t need to become a vampire to be important and loveable, and I think that’s going to be his season 5 arc. I know a lot of people are worried that his Van Helsing blood will make him immune, but remember we’re in a universe where Blade is real. He’ll just become Blade! Day-walker here we come!

Now, will Guillermo be turned back at the end of the season by … a wish, or something similar? Maybe. And I think this is an even more interesting question when combined with my other main S5 prediction:

- Nandor uses one of his remaining wishes to become a human. He is so sick of eternal life right now, and we keep seeing his very sweet fantasies about human life throughout season 4. What if he gives up the quest for perfection in order to actually become Groundskeeper Matthew or whatever he called himself in the private school episode? And if I was the writing team and I really wanted to fuck around with the tension between Nandor and Guillermo and throw one last obstacle in their way, I would make it so that …

- Nandor becomes Guillermo’s new familiar. COME ON. This is not only a very horny fanfic prompt but also just a super great plot driver. Master/servant flip! Nandor trying to do housework but he doesn’t know what a hoover is! Guillermo high as hell on Nandor having to call him ‘Master’, sitting back and watching and refusing to help! It kind of returns their dynamic to a season 1 place but with a lot of fun differences that would be so great to play with. I would like to see it. And maybe … the other way this could go is that Guillermo might end up turning Nandor back into a vampire?? Again, powerful stuff, I want it in my eyes.

But whatever happens I really do think

- Nandermo will become more and more text until it actually does become canon. This isn’t just me being a shipper (I am, though, the biggest shipper). The show literally has Nandor and Guillermo’s ‘master/servant to buds to BEST buds to best men to …’ plot line as one of its most crucial threads. Nandor’s arc is him searching for the solution to his loneliness, and Guillermo’s arc is him searching for self-acceptance and love. The show’s central gag is that these dim bulbs haven’t noticed that they have that, and they’ve had that since season 1 episode 1.

Again, I have no access to spoilers, I made all of this up in my head. I just think it would be neat. Let’s see what happens.

Harvey teased Guillermo’s journey in WWDITS season 5 while giving an interview for the Puss in Boots: The Last Wish premiere:

“It just keeps getting better and better. And I don’t know how the writers do it,” Guillén says of being continuously fulfilled by the way each season continues to progress with “the trajectory of his character." 

"I’ve been like, ‘Wow.’ Every year just keeps getting better and better,” he continues, before adding, “I will say, this year, for a comedy, I feel like Guillermo has gone through a rollercoaster and I’ve never cried as much.”

“That’s all you get,” Guillén quips, without getting more specific.
