I have a question for polyamorous people that I hope isn't weird for y'all to answer.

So I've been creating a supernatural tv show for the past 2-3 years and the main relationship in the show is sapphic. I was going to keep it that way until recently after watching a movie with a love triangle in it and wanting said triangle to become poly at the end (shocker, it didn't happen). Point is, the movie made me want to include a poly relationship in my show, and I want to change my sapphic relationship into a poly one.

Some background of the show is a woman falls in love with a vampire that moves into her town. We'll call them Leading Woman and Vampire A. What I'm thinking of doing is having some events happen and the two fall out for a few episodes. During the fallout, the Leading Woman starts to have feelings for the vampire brother of Vampire A. (No, this isn't her blood brother. They're both adopted on the basis of having the same maker.) Leading Woman is still in love with the brother, even after rekindling her relationship with Vampire A. She then makes the choice of wanting to be with both of them instead of choosing between the two.

Here lies my question: Would it be weird to have a polyamorous relationship with two siblings, even if the siblings won't be engaging in incest? It'll just be Leading Woman loves Vampire A and Brother Vampire, Vampire A and Brother Vampire love Leading Woman, and Vampire A and Brother Vampire have their platonic relationship.

Last Thoughts about The Idol Then I'll Shut Up

After rewatching the season, it seems like Jocelyn was in control the whole time. From the first time Jocelyn sees Tedros and hears his opinions on how her music should be, a plan starts to form in her head. She's thinking "if I could get him to inspire me musically, I'll appease him and make him think he's in control." Did she go about it the wrong way? Of course, but maybe that's the point. Up until the last episode, we're on her side wanting her to wake up and understand that Tedros is playing her, but she played Tedros and us (the audience).

The confusing thing about this, still, is was she being abused by her mother or was this all an elaborate hoax made up to get people on her side? Going back to the Xander torture scene, he calls Jocelyn and her mom "cunts" and controlling everything people do around her. Was he actually lying about her mom or was he telling a small amount of the truth? You also have to think about her team knowing as well. To my knowledge the only ones who knew, or at least talked about it, was Xander and possibly Leia. It seemed like Destiny, Chaim, and Nikki didn't know or never talked about it.

I have more questions than I should after watching this, and I feel like that's a big problem. Five episodes really was not enough for this season because there's so many plot holes and continuities that just don't add up. I blame the show runner and HBO because they're the ones who decides how many episodes are in a season.

The Idol Finale Short Review (Spoilers)

So, I just watched the season finale of The Idol, and I've never been more confused in my entire life (i actually have been, but I'm being dramatic). To have her manager try and get rid of him just to end up taking him back, even after the shit he did, was so stupid. Not to mention, things that were said about Tedros in the past 4 episodes were just forgotten. Sam either needs to learn how to write better or let someone else do it, because there's so many plot holes and confusing things about this.

I say all that to say, if the show is renewed by some happenstance, it should become an anthology series instead of focusing on Jocelyn and Tedros' relationship because it seems, based off the finale, like they're good. There's really no cliffhanger to hold on to, unless you count her team trying to get rid of him again, but that'll be boring since they've done that already.

What HBO should do is make the show have seasons with different stories from different industries like film/tv, fashion, sports, maybe even have a kind of politician like character. It won't bore the audience with these different stories because it'll be focused on the issues in their respective industries. HBO should also force Sam Levinson to have a damn writers room so they won't have another mess like this first season was.

For those that believe Abel himself is a bad guy just from his character, I advise you to read this article. It explains why his character is the way that he is, and why he says and does certain things in the show. It's also a good reminder that viewers of any show/movie should not equate the character with the actor/actress playing them.

my overall opinion of the episode: way better than the first. I didn't feel that it was dragging on at any point. the writing is still a little iffy, although I understand why some characters say certain things. Abel, babe, either the acting ain't it bc the script is off or he just can't act. Like there were points were I liked his acting, but then he'd do something that just deducted 10 points for me. Not to mention that last scene when they were at Jocelyn's house and he started talking dirty to her, I wanted to throw myself out the window bc it was giving Wattpad/AO3 vibes and not in a good way. Overall, I give this episode a 7/10. Do with that what you will.

My unasked review of the 1st episode of The Idol after watching it 2x because I kept pausing during the first time

The writing on this show is a hit or miss. I felt myself kinda cringing at certain points because why would you have your actors do that? Also, 30 minutes for one scene? When all of that could've been half that time? A waste.

I think the best thing about this episode was the cinematography. I am a graduated film student, so of course my eyes and brain would pay attention to the way things look because that's what four years of film school has ingrained in me. The shot where Jocelyn is in that rectangle all alone was sooo good. The one shot I didn't like was the bar scene in Jocelyn's house. There was so much shaky cam, I almost thought this was a found footage show. It ain't that hard to put the damn camera on a tripod. You did it for all the other shots.

The acting was also fine? Lily and Rachel are amazing, Troye was so so, Abel.... I'll just see what the second episode has to offer. Jennie was serving during that dance number, as she fucking should. Jane Adams annoyed me, mostly because of the rumors about her on set behavior and what she did to Lily.

I was surprised to not see a bunch of sex in this episode. The way critics were talking about it made it seem like there was sex every 5 minutes. Then again, they did watch 2 episodes so this episode might be the calm before the shit storm.

One thing I have learned after following this whole show's ordeal is that writers rooms are very, very, VERY important. As we all know, Sam Levinson doesn't have a writers room because he believes he can write all of this himself. He's like the white Tyler Perry, although Tyler Perry gathered some type of sense in the past few years because he now has writers rooms for his shows. What I want to see is the original script for this show, because cast and crew has said that that script was amazing, and then they changed it to fit Sam's needs, ego, or whatever. I love Abel down, but jfc I am getting pushover vibes from him, just from this alone. This is the same man who demanded to keep his masters, and you mean to tell me he folded and decided to rewrite an amazing script for a white man? A MEDIOCRE WHITE MAN AT THAT??? I get not wanting to burn bridges in the beginning of your film career, but there's a difference between burning a bridge and making a boundary, which Sam and HBO (because they decided to add him on instead of getting someone else) crossed. I have more hope for the movie he's gonna be in since that was written by the director who did "It Comes At Night" and "Waves".

My final thoughts: I'm not gonna say HBO should've cancelled it based off the first episode alone, but if the rest of them are ass backwards, then yes they should've cancelled it. Not like they're worried about losing money since Batgirl was cancelled AFTER IT WAS FILMED (I know Warner Brothers cancelled it, but HBO is under them so 🤷🏿‍♀️).
