fwiw to the extent that i have any kind of mental setting for the assortment of silly animal monks i've been drawing lately i imagine it as a sort of secular redwall abbey situation because who wouldn't want to just hang out in a big old building wearing a big comfy robe and spend all day brewing fancy herbal liqueurs and making weird cheeses and not have to worry about getting a real job or paying rent, but also not having to deal with god shit.

i realize this is slightly at odds to the above flavor text's mention of hymns and the implication of a vow of silence but i really cannot stress how little thought i've actually put into any of this. i just like drawing funny little guys in robes.

a tiny (2mm) mystery i came across while sorting beetles today. it was right at the end of the workday so i didn't have too much time to mess around with it and couldn't even suss out what family it's in. it's cute as hell though whatever it is! i've never seen antennae like this on such a little guy.

Thank you for introducing me to Songs Ohia! I'd heard the name Jason Molina around but never looked up his stuff. Absolutely gonna sit down tomorrow and listen to the rest of The Lioness. hell yeah man Songs: Ohia & Magnolia Electric Co have been my go-to melancholy ass music for over 20 years now. Jason Molina was a treasure and died way too fucking young.

i'd never heard of CW Stoneking before, which is surprising because his whole deal is very much in line with a ton of artists i was listening to in the early 2010s. i perused a few of his albums yesterday and there's a couple tracks that i really liked but overall i wasn't feeling too much of it. i appreciate the recommendation anyway!
