El came into the motel room like this was just another of their bland days. He placed the box on the small table and took his time to take off his jacket. He noticed the curious look on Kit's face and her wiggle of an eyebrow - she was sure it's a present for her.

"Oh, yeah. I know it's your birthday. I brought you a hamburger. Thought you might need some calories for when you will thank me later." His lips crooked. It seemed he didn't notice the flash of disappointment on Kit's face. He waited for her to open the box.

Before now, the very idea of firearms had not been on her thoughts-agenda. However things had changed, they could not assume safely any longer and so precautions were required. At least El hadn't bought her something gaudy, in pink or purple so it's 'femininity' was garishly implied. The piece actually looked quite classy and it was small enough to suit her hand too.

"You'll show me how to use this, right? I wouldn't want to be the woman who accidentally shot herself in the foot instead of harming my attacker". Kit already knew he would. In fact, El would love the opportunity of schooling her in something, mostly because he knew at times, she'd play the bratty ingenue who was reluctant to learn and he could give her that look.

Still, even she could appreciate the thought behind this gift.
