✨Raw Rutilated Quartz✨
We carry both polished rutilated quartz AND now raw rutilated Quartz!!!
Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz that contains acicular (needle-like) inclusions of rutile. Rutilated quartz is valued for the quality and beauty of these inclusions, and we can PROMISE you these are some of the most beautiful rutile towers we have ever seen. Inclusions range from thin, sparse, and parallel, to thick, dense, and crisscrossed, and everything in-between.
While Inclusions in other stones are not desirable, rutilated quartz is actually desirable because of its inclusions.
Rutile is titanium dioxide. It can show up as many different colors like copper, silver, and gold...but remember it's not the actual element of copper/silver/gold!!! It is still titanium dioxide. I'll have to ask my resident chemist why it's different colors but I'd suspect it's oxidation and/or heat. Either way it's WILD!
It is believed that rutile is an excellent angel communication crystal. In ancient times, it was believed that the rutile was the hair of angels preserved in this crystal. The Romans believed it to be the golden hair of Venus, the goddess of love; the Vikings believed it was the hair of Freya, the goddess of beauty. The goddesses hair was preserved by the earth spirits because they could not bear to see it thrown away.
Rutilated quartz is believed to be a powerful clearing stone; it can clear blockages from all chakras and attune the user to their Divine Purpose.

✨Crystals you should keep out of the sun✨
Prolonged UV exposure
will cause irreversible damage by fading, bleaching, or changing the color.
Photons from sunlight bombard
the atoms of a crystal. Depending
on the types of atoms present,
some wavelengths (colors) of
light (photons) are absorbed and others are reflected. The reflected photons are 'detected' by your eyes.
We see this as color.
More complicated processes may
occur that lead to changes in the
color of a crystal. These usually
mean a chemical change has happened in the crystal itself.
You can still use the sun
to cleanse stones if you desire!
Just make sure to remove
them from direct sunlight and
limit exposure time.
Usually, UV damage to crystals
requires long exposure times,
so don't panic if your stones
have been in the windowsill!
Crystals that are affected by sunlight include, but are not limited to:
Amethyst and Amethyst Geodes
Citrine
Carnelian
Amber
Colored Agates
Ametrine
Aventurine
Aquamarine
Celestite
Sapphire
Fluorite
Some barite
Rose Quartz
Smokey Quartz
Kunzite
Opal (it dries out and
will crack)
Spirit Quartz
Super 7
Chrysoprase
Crystals with iron in it

🤍Grey Lemurian Towers🤍
🤍
So, I've heard that this could be grey lithium, but I'm not entirely sure. According to my research, lithium can present as magenta, pink, lavender, and lavender-grey.
🤍
You'll notice these have PHENOMENAL phantoms in them and are completely grey. When you move them, they look like shutters within the tower. Phantoms occur when the growth is interrupted and minerals are deposited on the original crystal, usually due to water. The crystal crystal continues to grow with that layer of mineral deposits, creating a "phantom" crystal or what appears to be crystals within a crystal.
🤍
If this is indeed lithium included, lithium is believed to counter mood swings, restore balance in your life, assists with co-parenting of children, and provides clam when feeling panicked. It is also a crystal that does not need to be cleansed.

💛🤍THIS GYPSUM PIECE THOUGH 🤍💛
WhAt iS gOiNg On HeRe?!? Look at this piece. 👀👀 This is an absolute STUNNING collectors piece. It's one of a kind....I've really never seen something like this!!!
💛🤍
LARGE TERMINATED GYPSUM CRYSTAL WITH A LINE OF LIMONITE RUNNING FROM BOTTOM TO TOP.   SPECIMEN IS INTERESTING UNDER MAGNIFICATION, THIS MATERIAL USUALLY CONTAINS SPECKS OF HEMATITE AND IRON TRAPPED IN THE 'GLASSY' CRYSTALLINE FORM. THE BROWNISH MATRIX ON THE BACK ADDS CONTRAST HAND SELECTED. WILL BE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY MINERAL OR ROCK COLLECTION OR COULD MAKE AN OUTSTANDING GIFT FOR ANY OCCASION .
🤍💛
THE FAMOUS ANCIENT LAVRIO MINES ARE 2500 YEARS OLD AND HAVE A TOTAL LENGTH OF 50 KILOMETRES AND WERE BUILT ON SIX UNDERGROUND LEVELS. THE ENTIRE MINING SITE OF LAVRIO CONSTITUTES A NATURAL MUSUEM SINCE MORE THAN 400 MINERAL SPECIES CAN BE FOUND IN THE REGION. MOST OF THESE MINERALS ARE FOUND IN PRIVATE COLLECTIONS. LAVRIO HAS AROUSED THE INTEREST OF A LARGE NUMBER OF MINERALOGISTS AND AMATEUR COLLECTORS OWING TO BOTH THE VARIETY AND PARTICULAR BEAUTY OF ITS MINERAL SAMPLES. THE STORY OF HOW MINING BEGAN IN LAVRIO IS LOST IN THE MISTS OF EARLY HISTORY. MANY ANCIENT WRITERS AND ORATORS MENTION LAVRIO, INCLUDING AESCHYLUS, ARISTOTLE, DEMOSTHENES, LYSIAS, ARISTOPHANES AND STRABO. ACCORDING TO ARISTOTLE, IT WAS IN 483BC, WHEN THE RICH DEPOSITS OF MARONIA (PRESENT DAY KAMAREZA) WERE DISCOVERED.

💚💙Azurite and Malachite BALL💙💚
💙💚
Here's a fun little specimen of azurite and malachite...BALL!!! It looks like an EYEBALL???
💚💙
This is why staring at specimens for a long time isn't worthless! You find so many interesting things going on!!
💙💚
Azurite has the formula Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2, with the copper(II) cations linked to two different anions, carbonate and hydroxide.
💚💙
Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, with the formula Cu2CO3(OH)2.
💙💚
Both contain copper so wash your hands after handling!!!
💚💙
Metaphysically, azurite is believed to encourage study, concentration, and memory; it is a natural long-term prosperity. Malachite is believed to help with depression/anxiety by encouraging you to uncover the reasons behind your distress and help break negative patterns of behavior.

💜Purple amethyst point with phantoms💜
💜
This is a wonderful example of a phenomenon called a "phantom"...or in this case multiple phantoms!
💜
Phantoms are images of the crystal within it that are aligned with the final crystal. Phantoms are mineral deposits within the crystal--when the crystal growth is interrupted and then continues again.
💜
Metaphysically, phantoms are believed to be a symbol of the universe, depicting the many cycles we go through. It is typically used in healing grids or in healing work. It may help us move beyond blockages or when we are feeling stuck.

💚Fluorite on Quartz 💚
💚
An interesting specimen from Mesa County, Colorado! You can see where the traditional cubic shape has begun to form on this piece. It's very fascenating because it's like a druzy piece of fluorite!
💚
I really enjoy finding the odd pieces that are really just one of a kind. I mean, every crystal is one of a kind, but when I see them like this my heart just explodes!

Diana Maria fluorite, Rogerley Mine, Rogerley Quarry, Stanhope, County Durham, England.
Diana Maria fluorite is known for its deep green color, and it's fluorescence under UV light. If left.in the sun, the green color will fade and eventually look dark blue or black. This color changing process is irreversible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Rogerley Mine had closed, but there may be some limited production coming out of the mine.

An example of pyrite on fluorite! This beautiful pastel purple and green fluorite has a pyrite underbelly and it is magnificent!
It is not uncommon to see fluorite growing with other minerals, and it is very beautiful when it does! Especially something like pyrite!

An example of purple fluorite. You can see the wonderful cubic structures. In this particular piece you can see a phenomenon called "phantoms"--where it appears like there is another mineral inside the fluorite cube.
This specimen is not nearly as clear.as.the previous post. That can be due to formation or other impurities as the crystal is growing.

A beautiful example of some very high quality Chinese fluorite.
You can see how clear the mineral is; this piece even exhibits some rainbows due to the refraction of light within the specimen.
