Tumblr Migration 2: Reddit Boogaloo

We all know about the Twitter immigrants, but there seems to be radio silence on what's happening now with Reddit users from certain subreddits doing a similar thing.

What's happening?

Reddit is restricting their API later this month and killing off third-party apps. An AMA (Ask Me Anything) with the CEO Steve Hoffman was held and it was clear that he would continue with the changes.

In protest, thousands of subreddits across the site are planning to go dark for 48 hours on June 12th. Some are planning to continue indefinitely until the changes are reversed.

Okay, so how does this affect Tumblr?

Some subreddits (mainly queer and left-leaning meme ones, don't worry too much about Reddit Atheists™ overrunning us) are encouraging their users to jump ship to our beloved - and beloathed - hellsite. There will be another influx of new users and many will be unfamiliar with how the site works.

What do us Tumblr users do?

Show them how to use the site; introduce them to the site's culture, tell them to reblog shit and curate their dashboard. Sorta like how we welcomed Twitter users back when they flocked here. Kungpowpenising optional.

I'm new from Reddit, what do I do here?

CHANGE YOUR PROFILE PICTURE AND BANNER TO SOMETHING OTHER THAN DEFAULT BECAUSE THIS SITE IS FILLED WITH BOTS AND YOU MIGHT BE MISTAKEN FOR ONE. This is the FIRST thing you should do after getting a blog.

Other folks can help you with stuff like curating your dashboard or creating sideblogs (or you can look shit up) but please, PLEASE just give yourself an icon and reblog some stuff so people don't mistake you for a bot

Spooky Month OCs pt.2: Lycan (Liam) and Asher

Once again, I have too much time on my hands. Lycan's original design was done by WavioliGoat on Artfight as part of a design for the person above you discord minigame, go check em out! My own af is Kats_Creations. Descriptions and af links under the cut!

Lycan (Liam):

He/Him ll 9

Just a silly lil kid. Very friendly, but can be shy at times. Likes to sew and make costumes, and is especially proud of his werewolf one. Loves Halloween, though not to the same extent as Skid and Pump of course. Has more of a fear response/danger sense than Skid and Pump, but not by much. Asher is his older sibling. LOVES werewolves. Doesn't know what a furry is. (Yet.) He knows of and is friendly with Skid and Pump, since they go to the same school and also love Halloween. He also knows of Susie via passing mentions from Pump and Asher.

Asher:

14 ll They/He ll Pan/Ace

"Cringe and Free" is his motto. Cat furry, definitely has a tumblr. Likes drawing in that one specific early 2000s mspaint style. Styles their hair like that VERY intentionally. Lycan is their younger brother. Has black painted nails and eyeshadow. Absolutely a theater kid. He at least knows of the Hatzgang and Susie (as well as Ben and Noah, see previous post or af pages) considering they're at the same high school. They're actually a fan of Susie's streams, and trying to work up the confidence to actually talk to her since she's in the grade above him.

Ben:

He/Him ll 15 ll Gay

Obsessed with "Nef" guns (in universe nerf guns), and always carries at least the pistol. Chaotic and brash, but nice enough. Shotgun Man's nephew; he looks up to him a lot. Best friends with Noah. Definitely just besties what are you talking about haha (theyre gay for eachother). Goes to the same school as the hatzgang, Susie, and Asher (another OC, see pt 2 post or af page below).

Noah:

He/Him ll 16 ll Bi Athleic kid, more specifically basketball. Still super dorky tho, could probably ramble for several hours about his favorite webcomics. Chill and kind, but has a pretty big competitive streak and can be pretty snarky when he wants to. Best friends with Ben. Crush? What crush haha he doesn't have a crush (thats a lie he has a big fat crush on ben and they get together eventually)! He at least knows of the Hatzgang and Susie (as well as Asher) considering they're at the same high school. He knows and is friendly with Robert, who sometimes helps him record trick shots with Ben.
