Like both voter bases of the two major parties do this, but republicans have yet to come up with a catchy slogan that encapsulates the cope.

i fear there are few things worse than having a friend with paper-thin skin who easily spirals into self-hatred and deprecation at the slightest inconvenience to them and can never be consoled… who is also genuinely mean and inconsiderate as a result of spending the majority of their time focusing on themselves in such a negative vicious cycle and needs to be gently admonished except you know full well if you do so they are just going to jump down even deeper into the pit of despair and not even listen. so you can neither say anything they don’t like nor cut ties with them lest they wail and lament that you really have secretly hated them all along and they guess they’re just a bad person etc etc the only action you are allowed to perform toward them is to continue giving them ceaseless validation that they won’t even absorb in an attempt to either console them in one of their fits or to satisfy the massive ego they pretend to have even though it’s clear as day they really just hate themselves and don’t realize that that’s a form of selfishness too

#can you tell i’m going through it. #it’s really sad bc this person is like so genuinely open they lay every single thing bare to see #i’m not licensed to draw conclusions at all but man i think some of it is plain to see #correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t this like the definition of narcissistic personality disorder #low self esteem that translates into thinking only about yourself nonstop #and i get that but like. also bring bitter and unapproachable and forcing everyone else to walk on eggshells around you? #lest you implode and/or explode? #this situation is IMPOSSIBLE. #yeah i’m supposed to pray of course bc evidently this is a problem stronger than any human being #but like as this person’s friend i do have a personal sort of obligation… #at the very least even if i do end up stepping back i owe them an explanation as to why #one way or another i have to confront them somehow #and for the reasons mentioned there is no possible way to do that without causing a meltdown #in fact it almost might be better to be a little harsher than normal #to snap them to their senses #just #‘all my friends hate me i’m the worst :(‘ you are a self fulfilling prophecy girl. #i don’t hate you but you are trying so hard to make me hate you for some reason #get over yourself. some offense intended #what am i supposed to say to you when you just get upset no matter what #ugh

the pre-lenten experience of shoveling as much food into my mouth as i can stomach in the last hour before midnight bc i always miraculously somehow forget to eat single a real meal on fat tuesday and i know that if i enter ash wednesday already starving i will not make it through the day. it’s like my brain wants me to fast a day early somehow and i have to be like NO we can’t make that mistake

#as someone who already eats like a bird #and tends to eat like 5 half-meals at random times throughout the day instead of 3 full ones #ash wednesday/good friday are VERY hard #i mean i know we christians can barely complain at all about two (2) whole days out of the year like this #but those days sure do hit hard when you already struggle to take care of yourself #it’s like ‘no snacking between meals!’ but the snacks are the meals #for me #it just means i have to eat more at each given meal than i have an appetite for lest i end up hungry #but then it’s ‘your meals should be smaller than normal!’ brother if i eat any less food on a day than i already do i’m going to die #is the thing #sigh #it’s fine it’s supposed to be hard for a reason and it’s not that long

insane how in the middle ages you could get excommunicated or killed for breathing wrong and now today we have to deal with people saying stuff like the concept of gender is abusive and we can’t so much as tell them to their face to shut up

i feel like part of the reason people are so enthusiastic about finding Secret Celtic Pagan Mysteries in irish and welsh literature is that people forget, because of christian hegemony, that christianity is itself a deeply weird religion with strange mythology and obscure rituals.

they’ll come across something kind of freaky in an arthurian story and think, “oh, that sounds like something american protestants would be alarmed by. must be Secret Celtic Pagan Mysteries!” when it is, in fact, fairly bland medieval catholic imagery. (bland, that is, by medieval catholic standards.)

Patroness of the Servants of the Paraclete

Blessed Maria Bolognesi was born out of wedlock and suffered a difficult childhood. She suffered heroically an endless list of physical maladies throughout her life and in 1940 also suffered diabolical possession because of an evil spell. On Holy Thursday, 1942 she received her first vision. Jesus gave her 3 rings, representing the Trinity and 5 rubies, representing His 5 wounds. From 1944 to 1954 the stigmata gradually appeared on her body.  She passed away in 1980 from a heart attack after enduring much suffering and persecution.  Her life was one of charity to the poor and suffering for souls.
