everything happened so fast-- within the span of a simple blink, if you were to indulge yourself with comparisons. The facet of loneliness became extinguished and ceased to exist moments after the presence of the two individuals was acknowledged. It wasn’t a play of words heralded by the wind, the distortion which lingered soon adjusted to reality, and she was soon overwhelmed from the sight of her two closest friends she had made so long ago.
the hollowness may still have existed and continue to orchestrate the person she is now, it is momentarily pacified by the high spirits bouncing about. The vacant look in her eyes shifted into the opposite, optics which were filled with joyous and surprise, slowly turning its gaze towards the duo which stood before her. A crook of a smile arched at the corners of her mouth, barely recognizable but easily distinguishable within the plainness on her visage.
Tumblr media
“<MISS> Fujino and Aichi-san! Of course, I did not intend to be absent for LONG. I ask for forgiveness but that is a far-fetched ideal after leaving the two of you out in the cold without any reassurances of my WELL-BEING. The ambiance resonating from the two of you shows that you are in good HEALTH. In spite of everything, how did you find yourself in my PRESENCE? Did the two of you gather inside SOURCES? Knowing you two... you’d pull all the string you could to find me... knowing the good intentions that muster WITHIN.”
having a normal conversation felt so relieving.

“Huh... I am in no place to debate on the position which I sit within the hierarchy so I am clearly the FOOL.” on her natural reactions, a sharp snarl was conveyed for a second before toning it down as there was no malice between this exchange. Contact usually meant an engage in battle, a difficult habit to overcome, sadly. “I had the very same reaction upon arriving here once more, it seems the two of us are still stuck in this FRAGMENT. I am no veteran as I’m akin to a child lost in a crowd, unable to see over the shoulders of OTHERS. Ah, <MISTER> Willard is also present in this CITY...? That is news to ME.”
it was true that she once resided here once, during that time she had learnt how to make use of the technological advancements which sit upon her fingertips. Dlanor was unaware of the presence of another being of herself, let alone a piece, though if someone were to bring up the subject it would pique her curiosity.
Tumblr media
“Green TEA. Freshly made and HOME-BREWED. I will pour you in a cup in due time, but in the meantime, how have you been FARING?”
“You’re the one misusing words, dumbass. Of course you’re my friend!” Battler ‘berated’ Dlanor by messing with her hair while roughly patting her head. “Can’t believe you’re in the city again! Are you a veteran of the place like Willard?”
Beato had told him that Dlanor had been in Hive City once. That, plus the fact that the angel invited him to her place via a text message, made Battler assume that she’s already familiar with the setting. Of course, you could say that the Dlanor Beato met before was a piece or that this Dlanor is a piece, but he won’t enter in the merit of that.

“Sure thing! What flavor is it?”

there are more than meets the eye, a quote used throughout centuries and still used today. But such a quote perfectly captures the thoughts of others when the young girl makes an appearance, whatever she may have been doing. Catlike spheres darted and continued to expose any kind of hidden evidence, no matter how minuscule it may be.
Tumblr media
“I have shown a rookie MISTAKE. My sincere apologies, as unforgiving it is, I shall attempt to learn from IT.” she perked upright and gazed towards the wall which the other had been examining. “I was in pursuit with an individual approximately in their late ADOLESCENCE. Desperate isn’t a trait I could put pass them, but nothing must be left UNSCATHED. They provoked myself by making me a witness of a crime in PROGRESS. Do you see any signs of interaction with the environment, namely the WALL? A skid of dirt, marks of PERSPIRATION?”
Trained eyes examined the alleyway that he had followed this young looking girl to, seeing how she was apparently chasing some sort of person. Maybe it merely was out of curiosity, or perhaps some other reason. Whatever the case, it did seem that whatever trail she was following had indeed lead to a dead end. Or perhaps it didn’t…
Tumblr media
“Don’t dismiss the cause as merely some fantastic reasoning without taking a closer look at things,” Shalem answered, walking over to the wall as he examined it closer. “Just because the trail may be at an end here, doesn’t mean there is some other reasoning. Have you considered whatever culprit you’re looking for having possibly scaled this wall? I wouldn’t put it past someone desperate enough to attempt such a thing.”

in most instances, she would have remained the visage of a doll, unspoken and placid, while unknowingly giving off an eerie presence. Thus strangers alike would avoid her or involve themselves in any forms of confrontation with such a person.
“Human nature... an aspect which I would never be able to UNDERSTAND. I understand what you’re trying to get at NONETHELESS. I have met few whom have little to none experiences with the supernatural, it’s rather rare to meet, what you would call, a normal PERSON.”
Tumblr media
she remained silent for a few seconds, processing each word of the individual’s statement. Having found to be unable to find a suitable answer and/or reaction, a manageable nod was put in place.
“... As do MINE. It is a blasphemy against GOD. An unacceptable ACTION. I find it difficult to comprehend how one could lose oneself to the evils of the FAITHLESS.”
Having been reading a newspaper himself, the seemingly young man hadn’t noticed who had sat besides him a few moments ago– but he had certainly caught the other’s words. There was a certain truth to it– albeit, demoralizing? To the right person, perhaps it was.
Upon being addressed, after a moment’s pause, Shirou sets his own paper down.
“My take? … It’s human nature to deny what they cannot see. And the supernatural isn’t something the average person can see easily.”
Tumblr media
“Once, humans feared the unknown. And while they still do, modern society has also prompted them to deny the unknown’s existence,” he says, smiling lightly. “It’s why myths and legends often do not exist in modern times. … That aside, yes, I suppose it may be demoralizing. But, not to me.”
Idly, he scratches the back of his head.
“My concerns mostly lie with those whom lose faith in God.”

“I don’t mean to offend you but you give off the impression of SNOW. An elegant yet soothing aura reverberates from YOU. I cannot pinpoint exactly why bringing this up was necessary, but I’ve heard this is what people call a COMPLIMENT. Excuse my novice-like self on the subject, I haven’t been brought up with showering affections unlike MOST.” dlanor begun to notice the beginning of a trailing ramble, which subsequently heralded her to seal the confines of her lips before something confidential tumbles out. Though through the upbringing of snow, she felt a rather chilliness which seeped through of what was left exposed.

“Greetings <MISTER> Battler, I take it that you didn’t come all this way to visit an old friend-- no, forgive me misuse of words, associate is more like IT. Come, take a SEAT.” As soon the last syllable was uttered, she regarded the other with a beckoning motion and resumed to what she was doing previously. Which happened to be the brewing of tea. She was not a master by any means, but Dlanor can assure you that Virgillia had once gave her some simple guidelines, and ever since she continued to perfect it. Or maybe it wasn’t Virgillia.
Tumblr media
“Would you care for some TEA? I added two cubes of sugar, if that’s any CONSOLATION.”

“People find themselves oblivious to the fact that supernatural creatures exist but continue to deny the TRUTH. It’s rather DEMORALIZING.” As each passing day went by whilst still being situated within this civilized fabricated world, some concepts were deemed as myths and legends, such as the concept of Angels and Demons. From the best of one’s knowledge, such things existed, having being categorized under one of them-- which didn’t happen to be the latter. Though not matching the stereotyped imagery which angels conveyed such as a beaming golden nimbus floating aloft her cranium or even the flourishing white wings.
Tumblr media
“What’s your take on the subject, <MISTER>?” spherical optics glancing at the male whom sat at her right. The newspaper which she acquired from the nearby stall and read thoroughly now resided on her lap as her attention momentarily switched to hearing the other’s opinion.

“There’s no doubt about IT. The trail has gone STALE. What do you make of THIS?” she queried inquisitively. Her fingers tangoed with the residues of what was left of the evidence, twisting and turning it in light hope of revealing a secret message of some sort. There was no mystery which she wasn’t capable of solving, something as minor as this shouldn’t break a mere sweat aloft her glass demeanor. Alas, this one was quite thought-provoking and required guidance of another intelligent individual, this being where the man donned in white came to be.
Tumblr media
“These footprints trail to this very wall, except that this is a dead END. An ALLEYWAY. I cannot fathom how one could merely DISAPPEAR. The culprit being a magician of some kind is plausible, considering the nature of this CITY.”

@checkfinisher -> @shallowgod -> @captivefighter
there was once a girl who was deprived of the very essence of humanity, the aspect of emotions. To have never felt those feelings of butterflies which flickered about encased in their skeletal prison, to have never felt the feeling of elation when someone pressed a smile upon one’s guise. A cruel world perhaps, but this was one where she once called her reality. A doll of marble they called her, a girl incapable of seeing even the brightest colors of a kaleidoscope. The world she once saw was different. The ideal of a fantastical world filled with individuals frolicking and prancing about amid a field was nonsensical and far-fetched to her, unrealistic almost.
all she saw was black and white. A monochrome world where nothing ever cried or simply uttered even a single syllable. Solemn maybe yet it was what was labelled as her haven.
Tumblr media
except that this was all in the past, but the present is not much different. There was a time where she met two individuals which welcomed a new section of her heart which had been left untouched for what felt like eons. The very nature of friendship had been misunderstood on her part, and the key to unchaining the lock upon her heart was simply sitting right in front of her eyes. Though that very feeling submerged within all the emptiness which existed. The doll stood unaccompanied on a nearby field of greenery located close to the park of the city, a digit held out in the nothingness of the air with a zephyr prancing about. Within seconds, a delicate butterfly landed aloft her very finger and began to reside there for the time being.
amber spheres examined the creature with curiosity and intent, taking in every ink and detail which were painted on the individual’s wings. Except a quick rustle in the near distance had been too much for the petite creature, pressuring it to take wing and be on its way. During the time of its flight, Dlanor had incidentally heard a phrase which her name had partook in, which entailed a quick analysis of her surroundings.
but there was nothing.

An individual would think that their apartment was a haven, an abode, a place to escape the roaring streets of the city. A place where no one would disturb you and you can do things to your liking. A lone doll would be seen having a temporary slumber after walking tirelessly from the past day. Only a few minutes would pass until amber hues would open and be welcomed to this world once more.
She was aware that everyone must be either asleep or left by now. Mustering the small amount of strength she had left, the angel would press upon the mattress with a limb enabling her to straighten her posture. Shortly after wiggling out of her blanket and standing upright. Dlanor rubbed her eye for a short amount of time before exiting her domain.
Tumblr media
Making her way to the main living room before an unusual sight was placed before her. The doll's face contorted into different expressions, a hint of sadness, bemusement, anger and everything else. Though one would shine brighter than them all: confusion. Without wasting another second, she hastily made her way to them, unaware of their current situation and how they arrived here.
Watching silently as the other raised their head, exposing what lied beneath. Their guise could not be described with positive words but ones of the negative, though this was no time to make judgments.
Tumblr media
❝It is difficult to anger someone like me, so do not think I AM. I would raise that you take a breather of some sort as you don't seem ideally in the best composure right NOW. Stay here as long as you want, but if a roommate of mine asks who you are just say you are an acquaintance of MINE. Nonetheless would you like a glass of WATER? I would like to think it may HELP.❞
Dlanor knew who they were but only vaguely. She did not speak with them very much in the past thus not knowing much about them altogether. Though as this situation has occurred, she might have opened a door to become more knowledgeable about them.

Furniture.
That person woke with hatred boiling in their veins. No. Needles. A million needles, a trillion but that’s just what you get, isn’t it? That’s nothing more than furniture deserves. As if on fire. And in the back of their head, the screaming.
Not dead. Not human. Never dead, never human, no escape. Was that all that waited for them? Every pain of death, every shock and fear and rejection and repulsion that lay in wait in life! Nothing! Or maybe, maybe there was a limit. Maybe if they tried again and again, suffered through one thousand explosions, through cyanide, a bullet to the head—or allow it: simply put yourself at risk of someone else’s blade, someone else’s fury. A million ways to die. An endless catbox of deaths.
Sayo Yasuda was alive.
And isn’t that what you wanted, Kannnonnnn, a chance to live? Not like this! Not like this! Not furniture, living a hollow life of fear and shame with no escape! There’s nothing, nothing worse than this…!
…This wasn’t their apartment.
Why? Some fresh horrors in store? Maybe this was hell. It would hardly be surprising. A million needles crawling in their hideous flesh, the desperate way that body writhed and curled and shook with horror. (A hollow chest. If someone found them, he would be Kanon.) It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair—at least, to rest, to clean up, to anesthetize the shock into unconsciousness, to wait, to wait for death… Maybe that was why.
Maybe this city was trying to be kind.
But it wasn’t doing enough, because that person lay prone and sobbing on the floor, hands clutching desperately to cover their contorting face. Disgusting. Furniture. Hideous, horrible, miserable, pathetic—footsteps. Approaching him.
Hold it together.
But their—his face was a mess, and he had no explanation to offer. Why was he here, in pain, crying? Look up. Sit up, just like that, open your eyes, smooth out your face. Look up at that person and make your mouth say, in Kanon’s voice,
Tumblr media
"I’m sorry. I’m not sure how I got here. Please don’t be angry. If you’d like, I would be happy to leave."
…but it came out shaky, and broken. Pathetic. Disgusting.

❝Did an accident occur which forced such an omen upon HIM? Even in the dark of things, you manage to bring light into one's life even if it's at a minuscule SIZE. For that I truly admire you and would even like to aspire to become a person like YOURSELF. But yes, I know what you are getting AT. I apologize for being curious, I hope you did not mind sharing such a MEMORY.❞
Learning about the many memories one could hold is truly interesting. Whilst one could give a snippet of what they were thinking it also gave a fragment of what their previous world was like. She would be willing to share her own memories, or the more fonder ones.
Tumblr media
❝<Miss> Natalia, I would raise the option of the pair of us familiarizing ourselves with each OTHER. It seems we are both lacking some common knowledge between the two of us, don't you THINK?❞
( closed: dlanor )
There is no harm in sharing such a memory — it is a pleasant one after all and being open to someone she will be looking after is a good idea. It isn’t like there is any reason to hide the memory from Dlanor anyway. The corner of her lips curled up into a small smile and Natalia nodded her head. But for his sake maybe she shouldn’t explain the whole truth…
”Yes. You see when I was younger something happened to my my former fiancé.        He had no memories which meant he didn’t know anything, or how to do … anything.        I helped teach him a lot and looked after him. I’m sure you can see where I am going with this.”
Although, she had been rather pushy in some senses. But seeing she has been a young child it wasn’t completely her fault. Natalia did not know any better unlike now. And, thankfully, she did not need to teach Dlanor the basics of living. It was just being her guardian, helping her when she needed it.
A large smile appeared when she heard the young girl.
Tumblr media
      “Likewise.”

❝I am sure this is my fifth time for thank you but I will make it the sixth, thank YOU. I do not dare to change myself for the liking of others except myself-- my true happiness starts from people acknowledging me for who I truly AM. You have taken the words out of my mouth, it is truly an honor to be able name you as a dear FRIEND.❞
It was not a mere play of words but what Dlanor truly sees of herself. People had given many differentiating names consisting the keyword of doll, thus making her perceive herself as one as well. The inquisitor also maintained the main attributes of true a doll: neutrality, expressionless and cold. This may all be contradicted by her current visage but people who are aware of her past would know.
Tumblr media
❝....❞ Spherical optics would droop its gaze onto the ground momentarily, taking the full force of the male's words. One who did not care what she is or who she was was certainly rare and unexpected. Not knowing how to reply to this, all she gave was a mere nod indicating that she understood and was grateful of his words.
It all depended on fate and what will bring the two together. Will it be another fateful meeting whether either party happens to bump into each other once more? A mere coincidence? Nevertheless, she would be more than happy to accompany the male. ❝That does sound GOOD. I could say the same for you, Aichi-san. This city holds many opportunities to expose our personal liking and our true COLORS.❞
it's a light bulb that blinks { closed.
"If that’s the case, then it’s amazing that you were able to adopt so well as to use it so easily. And I’m really grateful for who you are; the Dlanor-san I met online and the one before me… you’re a wonderful friend that I’m thankful to have gotten to meet".
Tumblr media
An accelerated rate, if ever there had been, their encounters online had been still within single digits, but they’d gotten to know one another to some degree, and eager to build upon that, Aichi had thrown himself readily at the opportunity. Dlanor, as far as he was concerned, was the same as anyone he might have befriended a significant time before; how closely they’d worked together made up for time.
He’d still yet to comprehend her assertions about herself; a doll? Did she see herself as less than a person, or was there something truthful in the claim, that she was something other than human? “You’re a friend to me, and it doesn’t matter who or what you are, I’ll do my part as a friend so that you smile as well. Your heart beating again is something I’d like to help you achieve. No-one needs to be worthy of feeling positively”.
A warm and bright smile against the chilly darkness of the evening, her words spurned more optimism into action. Future meetings… he could only hope they’d get to meet with one another again soon. And making the most of said convergences was something to consider; what they’d do, where they’d go. Events that they’d both take something special from.                    ”And time we’re together, we’ll spend it having fun and trying out new things together; does that sound good? It’s a surprise to hear, but there’s a lot to you already and I’m eager to hear about where you come from and what you’re like. And even what you enjoy, so we can fulfill that here in the city”.

❝Then I reassured for THAT. I have met many individuals who deem to be easily bothered and offended and I did not want to make the same MISTAKE. I thank you for the compliment, if that is what you were intending to make it ONE. Had there been something holding you back in your previous WORLD? Do tell-- only if you are comfortable of doing so, of COURSE.❞
❝You think SO? I have been told that I people view me as a weird individual, though I do not take it to HEART. Even when people may not enjoy such a composure, I have taken a liking to IT. As you said, I stray away from most issues or rather keep them to MYSELF. I do not see the point of bothering others with your own problems, it's as if you're putting oil to the FLAME. It's not helping neither PARTY.❞
Tumblr media
Finding one's neutrality and stoicism was a rare thing to be admired by. A doll-like attitude would seem uncomfortable to the majority as conversing with an expressionless individual almost resembles one talking to a wall. Reciprocating to emotions would be expected from anyone but she is one of the few who has the tendency to not show any at all.
❝I would say the SAME. That is correct, it is indeed a PALINDROME. Ronald A. Knox happens to be my father, or was if I were to be more PRECISE. As you may be aware, he has been deceased for quite some TIME. Are you aware of the Knox's Decalogue by any CHANCE?❞
“Don’t worry about it. Takes a lot more than that to get me bothered, believe me. I can handle stuff that’d make others faint just by looking at them. And your neutrality’s admirable. I’ve always wanted to be able to have a perfect sense of that, but it’s hard back where I’m from.”
Tumblr media
“That sort of composure’s really admirable, ‘specially for a kid your age. Others might find it creepy, but I really think it’s something to strive for. Being able to keep a cool head through everything, but also not distancing yourself from issues is the sort of medium that opens a lot of possibility for you.”
Eren was genuinely giving his all in complimenting her. It wasn’t hyperbole or anything of the sort—he truly found her stoicism something to be admired. He himself was always a bit hotheaded, passionate to his core, but found that being able to suppress his emotions led to remarkable results.
"Right back at you. It’s pretty nice to be able to speak with someone like this, D…lanor? Er, isn’t that a palindrome for Ronald? That’d make it Ronald Knox, if you were to put it backwards. You wouldn’t happen to know of that author, would you?"

Learning about different worlds had always sufficing her quench for knowledge. It was intriguing whilst expanding her broader knowledge on how things came to be, a persons lifestyle and others things alike. ❝This library seems simply minuscule compared to the archive residing at the Great Court of Heaven. I am glad to have met another avid READER. With that said, have you read any mystery NOVELS?❞
With the other's approval, she began to make her way towards the said section. Occasionally requiring to maneuver from side to side to avoid crashing into other citizens-- she did not want an accident consisting of books being flown into the air to occur. The overseers had been able evenly balanced the atmosphere in the metropolis. At times there were rather melancholic events which urged the child to seclude herself in her room. Then the most of the time, there remained a cheery vibe.
Tumblr media
Although, at the other's question Dlanor could not help but raise a lone eyebrow. ❝Valentine's DAY? Was that the day where people would celebrate the theme of love and COMPASSION? If so, then we did not celebrate festivities alike THAT. I would think there would be a book consisting of the many festivities which occurs throughout the YEAR. People had seemed to bring up the subject of spending time with dates on this DAY. Did you happen to find a DATE?❞

[ Agnes nods in response. “Yes, but not as big as this if I remember correctly. I have read many books, being schooled within those walls. It is funny how I did not like being in ‘school’ all the time when now, it is what I remember of home.” She did love learning but as a child, she always wondered how it felt to go outside.
Seeing as Dlanor knew the place more than she did, Agnes agreed. Letting her lead the way. curious eyes gazed upon the people who were in the building as well. It struck her that there was so many people who were in the same situation as they are. They were all stuck here. ]
Tumblr media
However, it wasn’t all sad. She’s heard things here and there and the vestal wondered if Dlanor knew anything about it. She wasn’t exactly sure if the festivities were over just yet. “Dlanor, do you have a celebration in your world called “Valentine’s Day”? Will there be a chance of reading about it here?”
