Lost (26) - Don't Let Go
Tumblr media
Tara Carpenter x female Reader
Summary: To anyone on the outside, and to Tara’s friends, you were Tara’s fierce protector, the MMA fighter who’d take anyone on for Tara. The Guard Dog, as Amber called you. You had no idea you’d have to protect her from people who claimed they loved her. It didn’t matter. As long as you and Tara had one another there was nothing you wouldn’t be able to survive.
Story warnings: Scream violence, family issues, trauma, angst, certain sensitive topics
Chapter warning: very brief, and in no way graphic smut, specifically being very clear that’s what’s happening, but nothing explicit.
Word count: 2.7k
Story masterlist / First part / Previous part
-Don't let go of the things you believe in, you give me something that I can believe in-
The safehouse was actually a kinda small cabin in the woods, equipped with necessities, with a living area that counted as bedroom and kitchen and a bathroom. You almost found the small living space nostalgic when you walked in with Tara and Chad and saw Mindy and Anika there. You haven’t seen them, or Chad for that matter, since you all celebrated Tara’s pregnancy about two months ago, but it felt like it happened so long ago.
Mindy and Anika immediately stood up, crossing the distance between the three of you and them quicker than ever before as the two women hugged Tara.
“God, Tara, don’t scare us like that again,” Mindy complained, though her voice cracked at the end, filled with worry and fear over Tara’s safety.
Tara nodded, though you could see the tension in her shoulders, so you as subtly as you could placed a hand on her back, and she relaxed. You were gone for over three weeks, and for some of that time Tara didn’t know where you were or if you were even alive, and touch was always the preferred way you two expressed love for one another. So, you understood her need to have you touching her at all times.
“Okay, we get it,” Anika laughed, noticing your hand. “Go, go,” she stepped back, pulling Mindy with her and Tara chuckled, but still took your hand.
You smiled at her, squeezing her hand lightly before rubbing the back of her hand with your thumb.
Anika grinned and approached you. “Hey, Y/N, welcome back,” she gave you a quick, but firm hug, and you eagerly returned it with one arm. You’ve seen Chad and Mindy before, but Anika went to buy groceries and wasn’t there in the brief few minutes you spent with the twins.
“What about your careers?” Tara suddenly asked, worried that the same thing that happened to you might happen to her friends as well.
“We aren’t fighting Ghostface directly, we’ll be fine,” Chad assured her. Not that it mattered, from what Kirby told you, they all came the moment they heard Danny was dead and Tara was captured, ready to rush in the moment someone found any hint as to where Tara was. Luckily, you got released, so they didn’t have to do that, and thus, their careers were fairly safe. Any case against them could be argued against by saying they didn’t go looking for a fight.
“Kirby still won’t let us get involved directly. I hate to say it, but the best we can do is stay here and help guard you two,” Anika sighed, sitting down at the table with Mindy and Chad while you and Tara went to the fridge.
“That’s for the better, I don’t want anyone else to die,” Tara nodded, perfectly fine with this. She didn’t want to carry anymore guilt over dead friends, and you didn’t want that either.
“Tara, maybe you should stay out of this as well,” Mindy suggested cautiously.
As if she didn’t know Tara wouldn’t leave Sam to deal with the entire cult alone. “I have to get Sam back,” that was where all the arguments ended for her, as long as Sam was involved, so was she.
“You heard the lady,” you pulled out eggs and milk from the fridge and placed them next to the flour, vegetables and everything else you needed for an omelet. You didn’t want to give Tara anything too heavy, but eggs were an absolute must given the last few days. Tara grabbed the plates and forks while you chopped up the vegetables, mostly bell peppers and tomatoes. You looked calm, preparing food for you and Tara, since Chad, Mindy and Anika chose not to eat, with practiced ease. On the inside, however, you were debating on whether or not you should say anything about Sam being the one to lure you into the trap, you glanced at Tara, leaning into your side with her eyes closed and chose against it. You’d handle that with Sam, and if you could make sure Tara never finds out, you would do that in a heartbeat.
All five of you heard a car stopping in front of the cabin, but no one looked worried, Kirby was supposed to come anyway, and sure enough, when the doors opened it wasn’t that masked killer, but Kirby at the doors. “Congratulations on the twins, Tara, Y/N!” she smiled, approaching and patting the two of you on your shoulders.
Tara smiled, her hand instinctively going for her stomach. “Thanks, Kirby,” she said.
“Okay, I won’t take too much of your time, you need to rest and I need to take,” she turned to the trio at the table. “You three back to the hotel,” which was perfectly reasonable, this place wasn’t nearly big enough for all five of you. “But first we need to go over the plan,” she said, mostly looking at you.
“Sure,” you finished preparing the omelets and set them on the table before sitting down with Tara on your lap and arms wrapped protectively around her.
~X~
Two hours later, with just the two of you left in the cabin, you were lying on the bed, fresh from the shared shower and ready to sleep. Well, Tara would sleep, you trusted Kirby, but you weren’t taking that risk. Still, Tara was being adorably stubborn tonight, lying on your right side, but refusing to fall asleep just yet. Her finger lazily drawing circles of different sizes all over your abs, though underneath your shirt. Her head was tucked beneath your chin, and she occasionally kissed your neck.
“I was so terrified without you,” she mumbled, moving her hand to hug you. In turn, you held her a bit tighter as well, just letting her speak, just letting her let it all out while providing her with as much safety as you possibly could.
Tara hummed, appreciating the soft expressions of love. “I felt so lost, so helpless when I found out you weren’t in jail, and that Ghostface had you. They sent that picture, I knew it wasn’t you, but I still so desperately wanted to see you again, to find you, to be in your arms again,” she paused, swallowing hard and fighting back tears. “And Danny died because of that.”
What could you possibly tell her? If they didn’t go to the warehouse maybe this could have been avoided, but you also knew that likely wasn’t the truth. Given how many ghostfaces there were they were bound to be found, and maybe Tara would have been even worse off if she was captured under different circumstances. “We’ll avenge him,” you chose to say that. Though, deep down you were thankful Tara was fine. In a perfect world they both would have lived, in a perfect world none of this would have happened in the first place. It wasn’t a perfect world though, and you’d grieve a fallen friend, you’d regret not being able to return the favor and save him, and you’d remember him for the rest of your life, just like how you’d remember Gale, Wes, Judy and Liv, just like how you’d remember Dewey’s sacrifice, even if you never got the chance to actually meet the man.
At the same time, you’d forever be grateful that Tara made it out alive.
“And Sam? God, what is she thinking?” the frustration laced Tara’s voice. “Why didn’t she tell us anything? To protect us? Fuck that!” she was angry at Sam for leaving again, no matter the reason and you resolved to bring Sam back even if you had to drag her out of there by force. She better be ready to apologize until she was out of breath to Tara, and then some.
“We’ll get her back, Love, and then you can scold her,” you kissed the top of Tara’s head and just let the silence take over for a few minutes, just relishing in the warmth of each other’s body.
Eventually, seeing that Tara said what was on her mind you opened up a bit as well. “You are the only reason I stayed sane in that cell. I just thought of coming back to you and our baby,” you smiled, placing your left hand on her belly. “Well, babies, but I couldn’t know,” you loved the small laugh Tara let out, just enough to tell you she was happy despite the conversation.
Tara placed her hand over yours. “You feel that you two? I told you mom would come back,” she looked you in the eyes and in the darkness lit only by dim light of a bedside lamp, you found yourself lost in her eyes.
“I’ll always come back to you, to our family,” and you’d keep that promise regardless of how many masked killers stood between you and Tara and your kids.
“I know,” she moved, getting on top of you and kissing your lips. “Baby,” she whispered, her hands roaming from your abs, all the way to your head. “This isn’t a dream, right? I’m not going to wake up all alone?” your eyes widened when you saw tears in her eyes, the stress, the pregnancy messing up with her hormones, you knew she was bound to be more emotional, you were actually more surprised she was only bringing it up now and not even sooner.
You could only sit up and gently move both of you until you got on top of her. You wiped the tears off her cheeks, and kissed her, much deeper than you did the entire night, letting all your love for her, all the missed moments fit into the kiss, all the passion, all the unrestrained desire both of you felt, it all had to fit into a kiss, because you weren’t safe enough for anything else.
~X~
It wasn’t a dream. It couldn’t be a dream, not with how you were kissing her. The dreams were always filled with words of reassurance, breaking her heart again and again when she woke up from them without you next to her. This was different, this was you and more, the firmness of your muscles under her fingertips, the warmth radiating even through the shirt you were wearing. The smell she tried to find in your clothes, mixed with soap that didn’t smell like the one you preferred to use, the combination she couldn’t have dreamed of. The muffled moan when she pulled you closer, pressing your bodies together, so familiar but filed with so much longing, caused by the separation neither of you willingly accepted.
No, it wasn’t a dream. It couldn’t be a dream. And it wasn’t safe, but she needed you. “Please, I need you so bad,” she moaned, and you froze, once again proving to her this wasn’t a dream.
“Tara, it’s too risky,” but the way you clenched the sheets, restraining yourself for the sake of keeping her safe gave you away.
She had a way to get you to do it though, a word she used to be so embarrassed by, but eventually embraced the power it gave her. “Please, Daddy,” she smiled when you groaned, burying your face in her neck.
“You’re impossible,” but you were kissing her neck. “You only get one,” you warned, definitively and she accepted it.
She relaxed, giving all control over her body to you, only moving to give you better access. You built her up and made her come undone, Everything, else faded away, because you were with her and that made her feel loved, safe, protected, and all she could feel was your touch, the muscles flexing as you indulged in her body, the warmth, the wetness, the moans she couldn’t even try to hold back… and she came undone beneath you, basking in your love and warmth as you kissed up her body and captured her lips once again.
Grinning into the kiss, you pulled away and kissed her belly a few times, an even number of times, before coming back up and hugging her, letting her come down from her high while pressing butterfly kisses to her neck.
And she fell asleep just like that, in your arms, safe and sound.
~X~
The realization that you weren’t a dream, or even your arms wrapped around her, they didn’t chase the nightmares away and even if she knew it was a nightmare, she still couldn’t wake up.
The red drops dripping down, Faster and faster, hitting the ground as if they weighed a thousand pounds and then the rest of the picture came into view. Your body, still, covered in blood, fresh from your fight with Thomas.
“She lost too much blood! We’re losing her!” the doctor yelled as Tara felt like she was being dragged away, unable to touch you, to cry out for you, to get you to wake up like you did outside of her nightmare. No, she was forced to watch from an ever-increasing distance as the sounds of blood dripping slowed down, turning eventually into heartbeat that was slowing down until it completely disappeared.
“We lost her. Y/N L/N is dead,” the hollow voice declared and the only thing keeping Tara from abruptly sitting up were your arms. She still screamed, startling you awake from the sleep you couldn’t fight against.
You looked around, frantically searching for Ghostface, even if you were aware of her uneven breathing. Certain that you were still alone you handed Tara her inhaler. “That nightmare again?” you asked, already pulling her closer and grounding her with your touch.
Tara nodded, not really trusting her voice.
“Oh, Love,” you let out a deep sigh, likely understanding just how many times Tara woke up over the past weeks from that same nightmare, only without you to ground her after it.
Tara wasn’t the only one with nightmares, you often woke up, once again dreaming about Zack and Susan, but they weren’t as regular as they used to be, nowadays, at least before captivity and as far as Tara knew you were down to once or twice a month. They would likely come back again, after this was over, but you’d both get through it.
You always did.
Tonight, this would all end, but until it happened she wouldn’t let go of you unless she absolutely had to. And given how close you were holding her, you had no intention of letting go either.
~X~
The night came, the final confrontation, the end of the nightmare, everything would end tonight. At this harbor. “Really? A harbor? Of all the places? What? Is this going to turn into some cheesy action movie where we jump off a boat and swim back to safety?” you said mostly to ease some tension. Tara and Kirby were by your side, the plan was simple. Tara and Kirby would take one side and you’d take another. Find Sam, get her out of there, and then the police could take over.
“Are you two ready?” Kirby asked, this time giving the two of you a gun each.
“Yes,” Tara nodded, feeling the weight of the firearm in her hands. She hasn’t shot anyone since Amber, all those years ago, but that weight was nothing compared to how worried she was for you.
“I can handle it, I won’t make the same mistake this time,” you reassured her, though the silenced pistol really felt like it weighed twice as much as you did. The weapon, the day you nearly used the one belonging to your father flashed in front of your mind. Back then, Tara was the one that brought you back, and you didn’t need anyone to bring you back from the brink of death this time. But she was still the motivation you needed, because firing the gun might mean keeping Tara and your children safe, and you’d do that.
“Let’s go then,” Kirby opened the doors of the abandoned building turned base of operation for the cult. This was it.
There was no going back.

-I only think of you, and it's breaking my heart, I'm trying to keep it together but I'm falling apart-
Ghostface grieved for his followers, for Ghost-Elephant and Ghost-Bull killed in an effort to capture Tara Carpenter to lure Samantha to their location. He finally had his twelve followers, he finally had everything he desired, and now he was left with only ten, they could be replaced, of course, but perhaps he was too trusting. The snake was in his ranks, and it betrayed him, while wearing the mark of a snake he so carefully painted on the white mask.
To make it more difficult to track them, he separated the cult into two groups, one led by Ghost-Bear, one led by Ghost-Dog.
Bear, Bird, Fish, Monkey, Bull, and Elephant in one group. Dog, Wolf, Lion, Shark, Rhino, and Snake in the other group, stationed around him. From the looks of it, the dog was more effective than the bear, and would soon enough receive the unmarked mask, as his second, as the one almost equal to him. But that would be left for later. He had a traitor to kill.
“I have been kind to you all,” he began, his voice changer on, as usual. “I’ve given you an opportunity to join me, based solely on our shared beliefs, yet one of you dared to betray me and now…” he pulled out a knife and violently stabbed it into the table. “Sidney Prescott lives! One of you made sure of that!” he yelled, causing everyone but Ghost-Dog, the unwavering, loyal follower, to flinch.
“Tell me who it is, and I’ll personally handle their punishment,” Ghost-Snake spoke, making Ghostface grit his teeth. The nerve of the traitor, to speak so eagerly in his presence.
He stood up, his robes flowing behind him and circled the table, the dim candlelight flickered as he walked by, some flames dying out as he stopped right behind Ghost-Snake. “I appreciate the offer,” he spoke calmly, abruptly yanking the mask off and pointing a knife at the back of the woman’s head. “Here is your punishment,” he fired before the woman he allowed into his cult even had the chance to speak. The blood stained the wooden table and his clothes and he cleaned the gun with the snake’s robes. “Dispose of her, let this be a lesson to all of you. Betrayal will not be tolerated.”
~X~
She had no way to tell the time; her phone was taken or left at the warehouse, and there were no windows in her room. The air was stale, the food barely enough to keep her alive and water wasn’t something she had easy access to either. If the Ghostface with bird on the mask wasn’t bringing her, or rather sneaking in, food and water for her, she was sure she would be only getting one meal a day. Tara was tired. So tired she barely had the energy to glare whenever the Ghostface that shot Danny brought her that one meal.
And then she felt something warm between her legs.
It took her a few moments to move, to figure out the cause of the sudden warmth, her exhausted body not willing to comply to her wants.
But when she properly looked down at her fingers and sat the red spots her heart began beating rapidly. Blood. She was bleeding. “Relax, relax, it can happen,” she tried to calm down, to not let the panic set in, to do anything just to stay calm. But her panic driven mind thought of how little she ate since you were arrested, how much stress she experienced, and she was more afraid than ever in her entire life.
~X~
How many weeks has it been already? Almost four weeks if the number of meals you were given was any indication. Damn it Sam… the fuck did you get yourself into, was the question you often asked no one in particular as you sat there, chained to the wall. Your thoughts once again drifted to Tara, and you clung to those thoughts desperately, knowing full well those thoughts were the only thing keeping you sane. Was she fine? If Sam did anything to her, or was in any way involved in something bad happening to Tara you’d make her pay, you’d make her regret ever touching that damn mask.
“I should have known only the leader would know where you were,” a voice, that damn voice came from the doors. You didn’t look up though, you had no desire to know who was speaking to you. “Silent treatment?”
You scoffed; you had nothing to say to Ghostface.
“This isn’t like you, L/N,” the voice changer was turned off half-way through the sentence and your eyes widened as you recognized the voice. “You’re just going to rot here? While your wife is out there?” you clenched your fists when you heard that, rattling the chains holding you in place.
“What are you doing here, Golubeva?” you demanded, finally looking up to glare at the woman.
“We have a common goal, L/N,” that made you settle down a bit, curious as to what she could possibly get from all of this mess.
“Explain,” you demanded as she took off the mask, she looked a bit older, but there was no doubt this was the woman you fought all those years ago for the title.
She sighed and began unlocking the chains on your feet. “My cousin is a Ghostface, I’d like to get him out of this. I don’t know how involved he really is, but if there is a way to save his life, I want to do that. And you, well, you vaguely know what’s at stake for you here,” she moved the chains to the side and moved on to the ones around your arms.
“Vaguely?” you couldn’t help but ask once she was done setting you free. You got up, feeling a bit unsteady but overall fine. You could get up and move a few feet even while chained up, so you remained in shape, the insufficient food was an issue, but you powered through it like you used to before your fights.
“Your wife was captured,” Anya told you and you saw red. Slamming her into the wall and pressing your forearm against her neck.
Anya cursed in Russian and tried to push your arm back, but fueled by rage there was no way you’d be that easy to push away. “Where is she?” you pulled back a bit, and slammed her back into the wall. “Where is Tara?!” you barely registered that Anya couldn’t breathe with how hard you were pressing on her neck, but you still somehow realized it and pulled your arm back as the blonde woman began coughing and gasping for air.
She raised her arm when you nearly attacked her again. “I get it. I’ll take you to her. Damn,” she rubbed her neck but you were already pulling her outside.
~X~
The bleeding stopped, but her worry didn’t end. She needed to make sure your child was fine, she needed to get out of here, she needed to move. She had no time for tears. The doors opened and she glanced to see the Ghostface with bear on the mask coming in with a tray, a bare minimum of food, mainly bread and some canned meat and a glass of water on it. It didn’t even smell appetizing. Not that it mattered, he lowered his guard while lowering the food to the concrete floor.
Tara’s arms were left untied after the one with the bird cut the ropes. The woman argued she couldn’t escape as long as her legs were tied, and the other three Ghostfaces agreed. It certainly made eating easier. It also made it easy to hide that she untied her legs and just kept the rope loosely around her ankles a long time ago.
Ghostface set the tray down and while his head was down Tara moved. She lunged forward, grabbing the man under his left knee and pushing him to the ground in a move that you’d be proud of. She allowed a small smile to appear on her face, she didn’t watch you train for years for nothing. Before Ghostface could figure out what was happening she grabbed the rope and tied his arms behind his back and kicked him in the head for good measure. The groan he let out told her he was still conscious, and that she needed to be quick as she ran through the building, finally finding the exit, rushing outside and realizing it was the middle of the night, that she was in an empty street in a more industrial area than she hoped. She hoped she was kept somewhere where she could ask for help, somewhere where there was at least a shop or something, but she was in some kind of abandoned place filled with large buildings and no way of knowing where to go. She just knew she had to move, to get away from this building before Ghostface freed himself.
So, she ran, she ran ignoring the pain in her lungs, the difficulties breathing, and she refused to focus on the pain in her stomach. She only stopped when she felt like she was far enough to start walking instead of running. After all, running would likely make her easier to hear. The streetlight flickered as she leaned against the building, trying to catch her breath. From the looks of it, she managed to escape captors. Even if she wasn’t sure how long she’d be safe.
“She couldn’t have gone far, spread out and find her! Do not kill her, we still need her alive!” she heard a voice she knew all too well shouting, commanding the group of pursuers that were after her. She took a few deep breaths, and hoped she could find her way out of the trap they prepared for her unharmed.
~X~
You ran through the industrial zone, not caring one bit about anyone seeing or hearing you. You were too late, when you rushed into the building Anya pointed you toward Tara was already gone, no one was there, no one was around it, but you saw red spots on the ground and a fallen tray with food and a broken glass lying next to it.
You ran, hoping you’d either find Tara before anyone else did, or that you’d find a Ghostface and kill them right away. Either of those two would work, as long as you could get to Tara before anyone could hurt her.
~X~
While she managed to evade her pursuers for at least an hour Tara was quickly losing strength, only fueled by her adrenaline and need to keep your child safe as she checked around another building for anyone nearby. She kept to the shadows, tried to find some kind of forest, or anything that could be used as a shortcut, but she had no luck so far. She placed her hand on her stomach, and pushed on, rounding the corner only to suddenly feel arms pulling her in.
She felt strong arms wrapping around her back and relaxed, recognizing you immediately by touch alone. “Y/N,” she didn’t even need to look at you, but she did, she looked you in the eyes for the first time in almost a month.
“It’s okay, Love, I got you,” you kissed the top of her head and Tara raised her head to kiss you. The kiss was hasty, of course, you hardly had any time to spare. “Are you okay?” you asked her.
Tara nodded. “Yeah, we both are,” relief washed over your face and she let you pick her up. She couldn’t tell you about the blood, not until you were safely out of this hell.
She couldn’t keep her eyes off you, off your face, the relief and love in your eyes, the slight tremble of your arms as you held her, not from her weight, but from the weight that dropped from your heart. And she allowed the exhaustion to take her over, she was safe once again, you were with her once again, and she fell asleep in your arms. You’d get her out of this hell.
~X~
Your eyes softened as you looked at Tara, at her peaceful, though tired face and sighed, relief flooding you, but you couldn’t relax, not until you made it out. You looked around, while you wanted to kill everyone involved, everyone who kept her here, but you needed to keep her safe. You slipped into the shadows, listening carefully for any signs of presence anywhere near you, and began walking in the direction Tara came from. She made the right turn into your arms, but if she turned left, she would have reached the forest and that was where you were heading. Two miles through the forest and you’d reach the road, where Chad was waiting in a car.
Two hours on the road, and you’d get to a safehouse, one Kirby guaranteed was safe, one Mindy and Anika were currently making sure was safe. And then Tara could rest and properly recover.
Finally, with Tara in your arms you managed to clear your head enough to think about the entire situation. Kirby had a mole, the one with wolf on the mask, it was because of her that all of this was possible. She confirmed Sam was involved way before you were freed, and she contacted Anya before her cousin could, which set everything else in motion and here you were. With two confirmed allies in enemy ranks, and Sam you were still unsure of.
Did Sam do this to protect Tara? If Tara wasn’t captured you would believe that, but as it was, you had your doubts. You’d have to clear that up with Sam herself. Fifteen minutes later you reached the road and leaned Tara against you so you could take out your phone. Chad’s location popped up, less than half a mile down the road. Just a bit more and everything would be fine.
Tara hummed, blinking a few times, and snuggling closer to you. “Y/N,” she muttered, reaching up and hugging you.
“You’re okay now, Love, you’re safe,” you leaned down, kissing her forehead.
“I was bleeding,” she suddenly said, her voice shaking and her grip on you tightening, and you froze. You didn’t see any wounds on her, any stains on her clothes.
“What?” your throat got dry all of a sudden, the worst case scenario running through your mind. You looked down at her stomach and then back at her face to see her nodding. “It’ll be fine, okay? It can happen, right?” you asked, rushing toward the car, fear clutching your heart, fogging your mind so much you barely stopped by the car without running into it.
“We need to see the doctor,” Tara nodded, soothing you with her touch even as she panicked as well, and you nodded lowering her back to her feet and opening the doors for her.
“Drive to the hospital! Right now!” you yelled jumping in from the other side as Chad turned to check on Tara.
“Hospital?!” he started the car, panicking just from hearing the panic in your voice.
“Just drive damn it!” you shouted as Tara leaned into your side, refusing to let go of you. “Baby will be fine, Love, you’ll both be fine,” you assured her and yourself as much as you could.
~X~
The hospital wasn’t too far away and you were in the hall with Chad, waiting for the doctors to come back and tell you if Tara and the baby were fine.
Chad patted you on the shoulder. “They’ll be fine, Y/N, Tara is strong and if the baby is anything like her, you have nothing to worry about,” he assured you.
You nodded, taking a deep breath. Your arms were crossed over your chest, and you squeezed your biceps so hard you nearly winced in pain. “I should have found a way to escape,” you couldn’t help but think that. That you should have been there for her, that you should have come back to her, and kept her from getting captured in the first place.
“You couldn’t. You were chained, weren’t you? You’re stupidly strong, but even you have limits. We should have come back, we should have been there for Tara,” he felt guilty as well, and a part of you did think that. They left Tara, even when they knew she only had Danny left.
“You should have but,” you looked at him, anger not directed at him burning in your eyes. “Sam should have, none of this should have happened in the first place if she just…”
“Where is Sam anyway?” Chad dared to ask. “Is she really Ghostface now?”
You were about to answer, but you saw Tara coming out with the doctor next to her. “Tara,” you ran up to her and she hugged you the moment you reached her.
“We’re fine! All three of us,” she said, pulling you down to kiss you on the lips.
“Three?” you couldn’t help but ask.
“We’re having twins, Baby,” she whispered, relaxing once again in your arms.
“Your babies are fine, the bleeding happens sometimes, but you were right to come and check,” the doctor told you and you nodded, thanking her.
“We can go now, right?” Tara asked, though she didn’t separate from you, she kept hugging you, not wanting to be separated from you any more than she absolutely needed to be.
The doctor nodded. “Just make sure you eat enough and have plenty of rest,” it was a bit of a warning, and you’d both take it to heart. Hell, you’d make a good, healthy meal for Tara the moment you came to the safehouse.

this last update has me screaming!! i should’ve seen this coming but i’m a total pessimist. can i ask what the sisters relationship looked like with their mom? i know AWFUL but did tara ever struggle with the idea of christina or her father attending her wedding? i just think it’s an interesting idea mostly because neither r or tara have a relationship with their parents so i feel like naturally it may be upsetting and seeing so little of tara’s father brings so many opportunities for how she may feel towards him but i was just wondering how you see her and if she’d be the type to be okay with it knowing she’s better off or still be upset by it? and do we get to know took care of christina?
Oh, this one is going to be fun! Thank you so much! First of all, thank you for taking time to write all of this, I really appreciate it.
So, I'm basing the relationship with Christina on the original scripts and some details from the movie. Her being at least alcoholic from the script, her blaming Sam for telling Tara who her dad is, her not coming to see Tara and Tara soundingly genuinely surprised when told Christina talks about her and is proud of her. For Lost I took that, paid more attention to Tara's asthma, and then cranked it all up to eleven.
So, the relationship is, indeed awful, with Christina either not being there or being drunk. I imagine she also fought with Tara's dad a lot at least for some time before he left and I don't think Tara took that well. It's Lost canon now that R took care of sick Tara, so Christina really was an awful mother. Still, I don't think Tara struggled with Christina not being at the wedding, between cutting contact and years of neglect, and lots of love from R and Sam away from Woodsboro and everything bad she went through, I really think Tara would just want to leave Christina in the past.
Now, Tara does want a normal life, and a normal life should usually include a functional parent-child relationship, so I think she wishes she had that, but that's related to the idea of a relationship, and not her and Christina. If there are any lingering feelings to either of her parents, it would more likely be her father. He abandoned her when she was eight, and I doubt she remembers much about him, but I think there were plenty of times, especially in Tara's childhood, that she wished he was there. At the same time, the wedding is on December 13th, a day before Tara turns 22, so he's been gone from her life for almost 14 years, so there's that as well. So, as far as he goes, I think Tara is, at this point in the story, completely over it, she won't reject him if he ever seeks her out, but she won't trust him either, it would be more like: "Why did you leave me?" conversation and that would likely be the conclusion for them.
All of that is, at the end of the day, more of a lingering feeling than anything else. So, I think Tara really would accept that she is better off without them.
As for who killed Christina... A part of me wants to say she doesn't deserve any more time in my story, but I'll narrow it down to Sam and Ghostface leader for you.
I hope the answer satisfied you and thanks again for taking the time to write this and read my story! 💙💙💙💙

Lost (24) - Landing in London
Tumblr media
Tara Carpenter x female Reader
Summary: To anyone on the outside, and to Tara’s friends, you were Tara’s fierce protector, the MMA fighter who’d take anyone on for Tara. The Guard Dog, as Amber called you. You had no idea you’d have to protect her from people who claimed they loved her. It didn’t matter. As long as you and Tara had one another there was nothing you wouldn’t be able to survive.
Story warnings: Scream violence, family issues, trauma, angst, certain sensitive topics
Word count: 2.5k
Story masterlist / First part / Previous part / Next part
-And when the night falls in around me, I don't think I'll make it through, I'll use your light to guide the way, 'Cause all I think about is you-
She used to be lonely as a child. Woodsboro was a small place, children often met through parents, and her mother had her when she was young. So, Sam was lonely, Sam was alone, quickly learning that she couldn’t really go to anyone for company. Kids at kindergarten talked about watching cartoons with their parents, but Sam never had that. Her father, the only father she ever knew, even if she wasn’t his biological daughter, did his best, gave up on his dreams so he could take care of her. Her mother did the same thing, working, coming back home, taking care of Sam. They didn’t really struggle, they weren’t rich, but they had plenty, but Sam was lonely.
And then the greatest gift Sam ever received in her life made the loneliness go away. Tara was born, a month earlier than she was supposed to be, and sickly, soon to be diagnosed with asthma, but she always, always looked at Sam with those expressive brown eyes and a happy smile that made Sam promise she would always protect her little sister.
Her parents didn’t count on a sick child though, they didn’t count on all the medical bills, on all the time they’d need to spend taking care of Tara and taking her from one doctor to another. Looking back, perhaps finding out Sam wasn’t his daughter was only the excuse her father needed to leave them, because he could no longer handle having a sick child and now that the other one wasn’t his, well, it just gave him another excuse. Not to mention Christina was starting to drink some time before he left. He ran away, never to be heard from again, and Sam hated him for leaving Tara like that.
So, with him gone, money became a bit of an issue, and the only reason people didn’t really notice was Christina’s inherited house. Hell, Sam had no idea until several years later that Christina took money for Sam babysitting Chad, Mindy, and Wes. Sam didn’t say anything, because that money was used to pay for Tara’s medicine, and Sam would always protect Tara.
That was how she, now an angry teenager swung first before asking any questions when she saw an unfamiliar kid talking to Tara. That kid turned out to be you, trying to help Tara, but Sam didn’t know that at the time. She wouldn’t have even remembered your first meeting if Tara wasn’t angry at her for attacking you like that.
It was almost funny how the two of you were so drawn together, how Tara, without even knowing your name got angry at Sam. Tara was shy though, but she kept seeing you every now and then, and even though she never approached you, she’d tell Sam she saw the ‘cool girl’ in the hall between classes.
Sam still remembered her anger when Tara, near the end of that year, and sicker than she was in a long time, told her how their mom didn’t pick her up from school and how she stood in the rain for an hour and a half. Yet, despite the temperature that was too high for home-made medicine, despite the cough and runny nose and all the other symptoms, Tara still looked happy, because she properly met you, and you carried her home in that rain. And when you dropped by the next day to check on Tara because she didn’t show up in school Sam saw the admiration in Tara’s eyes and somehow, without an explanation, she felt at peace.
And then you became a constant in Tara’s life, acting as her shield from the world. Sam remembered it as if it happened yesterday, the scene she walked into a few months before she left.
~X~
Tara hadn’t been this sick in a long time, she couldn’t even lie down without having a coughing fit, but Sam couldn’t panic. She couldn’t do much more than pick up medicine or make Tara some tea. She had to put faith in her mother to take care of Tara, because sooner rather than later Sam would leave and Tara would be left only with their mother.
She still called her mother, just to ask how Tara was.
“W-what is it,” her mother answered and hiccupped, drunk, and Sam’s blood ran cold.
“Where are you? What about Tara?!” Sam demanded, for a moment wondering if she really could kill her mother, because she wanted nothing more than to do that, and that desire frightened her, strengthened her need to get away from Tara to protect her.
“At home, she’s fine~,” her mother drawled and Sam wanted to crush her phone, to let her rage out, instead, she just ran home, barging in and running upstairs to Tara’s room. She didn’t hear coughing, she didn’t hear anything as she ran down the hallway, and she was frightened of what she would find when she opened the doors, but instead of Tara in pain or not breathing at all, she found Tara with you.
You were sitting in a not so comfortable position, leaning back against the rather uncomfortable headboard. You held a pillow to your chest, and Tara was right there, leaning on it and sleeping peacefully, half lying down, half sitting, but not coughing. She had the yellow teddy bear Sam bought her years ago next to her, and she was holding your hand. From the corner of her eyes Sam noticed an almost eaten plate of soup, one that her mother definitely didn’t make. It was from a local restaurant, so you must have bought it for Tara.
Sam’s knees nearly buckled from relief, but the look in your eyes made her freeze, you were angry, but you couldn’t move.
It was you. When Tara was sick and left alone by her mother, she didn’t call Sam, she called you, and you came. With how sick Tara was, she barely remembered calling you, she vaguely remembered you were there, but she most certainly didn’t remember sleeping while leaning back on you.
~X~
The next time Sam saw you and Tara like that was after Tara was attacked, only there wasn’t a pillow between you two this time. Sam could never repay you for how much you cared for Tara while she was gone, because she was sure you’ve spent countless sleepless nights taking care of sick Tara, or simply keeping her company when she felt alone, abandoned by everyone else.
Tara was always the happiest when you were with her, and Sam would forever cherish the memory of Tara laughing while the two of you danced at your wedding.
It was, naturally, a small wedding, the two of you, her and Danny, Chad with his girlfriend at the time, Mindy, Anika, Gale, Sidney with her family, and Kirby. And Tara looked more beautiful than ever, laughing, unable to keep the smile off her face for a moment, and her happiness was contagious.
Sam would have given everything she had to go back to those times, to the time when Ghostface was a thing of the past, and not a threat she once again had to deal with. To sit at the dinner table with Tara and you, making plans for whatever you wanted to do this week, instead of sitting at her computer, yet again realizing that the cult dedicated to Ghostface actually existed.
She should have known it was only a matter of time before he came back, and in the darkness of the night she looked at her window, seeing him there. Her real father, taunting her, putting the mask on her reflection, his mask, the same mask she put on when she killed Bailey.
“I like the design,” the monster told her, and she knew exactly what he was talking about, the dog painted on the mask, proving the belonging to the cult.
Sam got up abruptly, her chair scrapping against the floor. She needed to tell Tara and you, she needed to make sure you were ready and careful. She found you and Tara in the living room, on the sofa, with Tara sitting on your lap and flipping through a magazine while you hugged her from behind and rested your chin on her shoulder, occasionally kissing Tara on the cheek or the side of her neck.
“Sam? What’s wrong? You look worried,” Tara noticed, of course Tara noticed.
Sam should have told her right then and there, she should have told Tara everything. How she’s been lurking online, looking for any signs of Ghostface coming back, how she saw her father more and more often and the medicine was no longer working as well as it used to. Instead, seeing how happy you two were, she shook her head, staying quiet. “Just something at my job. What got you two so excited?” she tried to put on a smile.
Tara and you remained silent, as if exchanging a silent conversation by just briefly glancing at one another. “We’re having a baby!” Tara’s words shattered what little sense of relaxation Sam had left.
Tara would more than likely be the one getting pregnant. She’d be in even more danger than usual, and the child would be in the constant danger from Ghostface, no matter where Tara and you moved to.
“Sam?” you spoke up when Sam didn’t respond.
“Oh! Sorry! That’s great! Congratulations!” she put on a fake smile, but her mind was already creating plans to infiltrate the cult. She’d just take the place of the one with the dog on the mask. She just needed to find him or her first.
~X~
She did it, she easily killed the woman that had the mask with the dog, but it also frightened her, because the woman was only a few miles away from where Tara and you lived. She moved there two weeks ago, and Sam was willing to bet she was going to attack Tara and you, or Sam herself, soon.
Sam stopped her before she could try. It was ridiculously easy, the woman was nowhere near as capable as anyone she faced before, seeing as Sam easily took her by surprise. And she got lucky, the cult meetings required the mask to be on at all times, and that they would use a voice changer, which meant no one really knew who the other Ghostfaces were. But she got into the cult, and though she wanted to start slaughtering them, she couldn’t get close to anyone without raising suspicions.
And then an opportunity that she couldn’t pass up on came up. The leader wanted to kill your father, and then get your mother to give him as much money as she could in return for her life. That would fund the next step of the leader’s plan.
Sam volunteered, killing your father in an apartment falsely rented in your name, in cold blood, stabbing him multiple times, taking her revenge for everything he and your mother did to you. Taking her revenge for them hiring Thomas and making Tara cry while you were in a coma, for making her cry for you, for nearly successfully arranging your murder… She may have stabbed him a few times too many in her fury.
“That’s enough, Ghost-Dog,” Ghostface pulled her away from the body and she shook him off, wiping the knife clean of blood and breathing heavily as she stepped away.
“Still, this will look convincing. Now, I’ll go deal with the Mrs. L/N, you need to get Y/N L/N t come here,” his words made her heart stop for a moment.
Why did he want you there? What did he plan  to do?
“Ghost-Dog? Call Y/N and get out of here, let the police do the rest,” she could hear the confusion in his voice even through the voice changer-
They were framing you? They were making sure you were locked up?
But Tara was pregnant! You couldn’t protect her from jail!
Still, if she didn’t follow the orders she’d lose her chance and Tara would be in an even greater danger.
So, Sam nodded. “Yes, sir,” she spoke evenly, once again seeing her father tauntingly smirking at her.
When the leader left and Sam was sure she was left alone she turned off the voice changer and called you.
“Sam?” you sounded relieved to hear her. “Do you have any idea how worried Tara is, you asshole. Come back home!” you still scolded her, and despite blood dripping from her hand Sam still smiled a bit. If she could protect Tara, if she could only protect Tara…
“I don’t have time to talk, I need you to come and meet me somewhere, right now,” she didn’t need to fake urgency, she knew exactly what she was doing, she knew it would be unforgivable, that you would never trust her again, but she still set up the trap for you. And you walked into it, like a fool that trusted her.
~X~ March, 2027, present day ~X~
Sam sat at a bar, drowning her sorrow in whiskey. Danny was dead, Tara was captured, and she had no idea where she was. After getting you framed she became somewhat of a second in command, seeing as she basically took care of the greatest threat, so she wasn’t assigned to whatever location they were holding Tara in.
She tried to keep Tara safe, and all it accomplished was the death of her boyfriend and her beloved, pregnant, sister, now being in more danger than ever before. Everything she touched she ruined, that was the summary of her life and she felt awful.
“Your tip saved Sidney’s life,” she heard Kirby’s voice coming from the side and just barely lifted her head to look at the FBI agent.
“And Gale?” she asked, even though she felt the answer in her bones.
“Dead. It took too long for my mole, Ghost-Wolf, to take the snake mask and go after them,” Kirby sat down in front of her and slumped back against the chair. “Things aren’t so bleak though. Our newest ally found Y/N,” she manage to smile a bit, despite the circumstances.
Sam nodded. She failed to protect Tara, but you would be able to do it. You’d keep Tara and your child safe. “Good, I’ll finish this, three nights from now,” she decided right then and there, she’d put and end to the cult, or die trying.
A/N: Well, there you have it, the part of the puzzle related to Sam.

Any fic recs??
-👾
Oh, so many, though you probably read all or most of them, and I assume you'd like Jenna x reader or Jenna's characters x reader.
Let the light in by the-oblivious-writer is easily one of the best Tara x R I have ever read
Then there are three stories by persevereforahappyending, He hung up and This isn't your fault are just incredible Tara x R, and there's also the Mabel x R story Luck runs out.
Toournextadventure is absolutely amazing writer whose stories are a must read, with most wonderful Wednesday x R story Everyone but her, as well as Movie night which is a Tara x R story.
Now, these two come with a warning, as they haven't been updated in a long time. Legally binded by house-of-lovin (Jenna x R) and Children of Woe by sorel-wolf (though this one is on AO3, Wednesday x OC, but still incredible)
Other than those, itskattkm, paladinncleric, shdysders, and many, many more. Honestly, I should probably take more time to comment/reblog their stories, but I've just been too focused on writing to properly do it.

-This could be the end of everything, so, why don't we go somewhere only we know?-
She was cold. That was the first thing that came to Tara’s mind as she regained consciousness. She was cold and lying on her side on hard concrete. She immediately tried to bring her hands down to her stomach, worried for your child, but she couldn’t move her arms. Only then did she realize her arms were tied behind her back, uncomfortably tight and painful, and to make things even worse, her legs were tied-up as well.
Tara groaned, the pain in her arms, the throbbing in he head, none of it compared to the despair she felt. Danny was dead, she was all alone, captured, and had no idea if this would affect your child. “Y/N, please, I don’t think I can take this,” she couldn’t even cry anymore, her breathing was rapid, on the verge of an asthma attack and all she could focus on was the thought of you, telling her it would be fine. Telling her she and your child would be fine, that you’d be fine.
The sound of heavy doors opening and the Ghostface with a bird painted on the mask broke that illusion and Tara tried to back away, she did, but she couldn’t. The ropes prevented her movement, but she managed to somehow roll on her stomach, desperate to protect the child as much as she could. The heavy footsteps sent her into panic, her breathing getting more and more uneven, rapid, she was breathing, but it felt like she wasn’t getting any oxygen in whatsoever as a coughing fit took her over.
Hands grabbed her by the shoulders and forced her onto her back. “No! Please, stop!” she cried out through tears, her face contorting into a grimace of pain and fear as she watched the white mask. “Y/N!” she cried out, if nothing else, your name would be the last word that would come from her mouth. She tried to fight back, tried to kick, to push the Ghostface away, but the monster’s grip was firm, and nothing she could do, in her position was having any effect on the person above her.
“You’re pregnant?” the monster wasn’t using a voice changer, and Tara heard a woman’s voice, one she never heard with an accent she didn’t have enough clarity of mind to place. “Damn it, what are they thinking?”
Tara’s eyes widened when she felt the ropes around her arms getting loose, and with that feeling she became aware of the knife cutting through the ropes. “Don’t struggle, you need to drink first,” the woman warned her and placed a bottle of water next to Tara. “It’s not poison, it wasn’t even opened before,” she kept talking, even as Tara kept struggling with her asthma. “Damn it, woman, I can’t help you with asthma, get it under control.”
As if it worked like that. As if she could just be told to breathe properly.
“Y/N is alive,” that made her coughing subside, though she still found it hard to breathe. The relief was, however, almost instant, because it was the first time in over three weeks that she heard anything about you, and it calmed her down. Just the fact that you were alive was enough. You were alive.
You were alive.
And if you were alive, Tara would never be alone.
“That’s the way. Breathe. Don’t try to escape though. You’ll just end up dead if you try anything. Sit here and wait for your wife,” Ghostface told her as Tara moved her arms, wincing at the stiffness.
Did this Ghostface actually help her? “Please let me go.”
Ghostface stood up and took a few steps back. “Sorry, I can’t, I have my reasons,” the response was cold, bare minimum. “If you don’t resist, maybe you can make it out of here alive. Just don’t cause troubles, for the sake of your child,” it was the cold truth. She had no idea how many Ghostfaces there were this time, and she certainly had no way of escaping right now. She had no idea where she was, had no idea where to go, or how far from help she was and no one knew where she was so the hopes of being rescued were nonexistent.
But you were alive. And that gave her a bit of hope she desperately needed as she wrapped her arms around her stomach and cried silently.
~X~
A well-placed shot to the tire made the villain lose control of the vehicle, forcing it to go off the road and down the steep, rocky hill. Ghostface stopped, enjoying the brief show of Sidney’s car flipping over several times and he wasn’t sure, but he was willing to bet a body fell out of the car. Smirking, he pulled off the helmet, revealing slightly longer hair, styled to resemble the original hero, the one and only Billy Loomis. He even did some minor plastic surgery to resemble the man more. By the end of this, all of this, he would take on Billy’s mantle entirely. But first… he would get rid of Sidney and Gale.
Ghostface put on his mask. The only mask without an animal on it, the mask that signified his position above all the others in his cult. He began walking down the hill, careful, but still fast enough to make sure no one could escape, his path lit by the flashlight attached to his shoulder.
One of the women did fall out. Gale, in fact. “Hello, Gale,” he approached her, the robes trailing behind him, the Grimm reaper has arrived to take the lives of the women that so persistently survived.
She was barely conscious, and from the looks of it she broke her leg during the fall. She certainly wasn’t conscious enough to even respond, only groaning as he pulled her up so she would sit. “Age must have caught up with you. I’ll end this quickly,” he stabbed her in the guts and then stabbed another knife into her lower back and as Gale screamed he pulled the knives up, ripping through her flesh.
Her body fell to the ground, the dry earth soaking up her blood, but it wasn’t enough. Ghostface pulled out a gun.
The gunshot echoed, and Ghostface gleefully watched as blood trickled down from the reporter’s forehead. “I wonder if you would have thought twice about getting involved if you knew this was the end for you,” he sighed, his gleeful demeanor shifting now that the fun would soon be over. He looked ahead, to where the car hit the tree and stopped. Luckily it didn’t explode, it would be a shame if Sidney died in a car explosion.
Gale’s leg was broken from falling out of the car, the chances of Sidney being dead weren’t small, and if she was somehow still alive she was definitely injured, so he wasn’t in a rush. He slowly approached the car and saw her, just barely hanging on, clinging to life like she did so many times. The trail of blood behind her as she tried to crawl out of the car that was toppled over told him all he needed to know, something made a rather deep cut and he guessed that was more than enough to qualify as a stab wound.
Finally, the greatest villain of them all would be dead. Ghostface pointed his gun at the woman no longer carrying the mantle of ‘final girl’, she wouldn’t even be the grand finale. “Gotta shoot them in the head,” he taunted as Sidney kept trying to crawl away from the car wreck.
“Fuck you,” she still had the strength to curse at him, not that it mattered. It would be over soon.
“I have to admit, as far as last words go, I thought you’d be more imaginative,” he smirked behind the mask, ready to pull the trigger, but before he could do that the universe once again took Sidney Prescott’s side as bullets hit the car behind him, forcing him to duck and find cover.
“Fuck,” he expected police, or at the very least Kirby to show up, to try and stop Sidney’s execution, he didn’t expect another Ghostface rushing over to Sidney’s side and looking around to try and find him. The snake painted on the mask was clear, even in the moonlight. He had a traitor in his ranks, and he’d deal with the traitor easily enough, when the right time comes.
For now, he just watched from the shadows, furious as the Ghost-Snake ran away with Sidney over his shoulder.
~X~
Kirby leaned against the wall of the hospital hall, another victim, another life lost, and one more that was yet to be saved. She bit her lower lip, her heart clenching as the dimly lit hall threatened to consume her in shadows. Gale was dead, Sidney might still die, that’s how serious her injuries were, and all they had to show for all that? Tara’s possible location that Gale managed to figure out.
Maybe they really would lose this time. Maybe Ghostface would truly win and everyone ever connected to these killings would end up dead. The phone in her pocket suddenly began buzzing and she nearly had a heart attack right then and there, but she took a deep breath and, though her hands were shaky answered.
“I found her,” was the only thing she heard before the call ended abruptly, and despite the circumstances, Kirby allowed herself a small smile.
A/N: Well, this was a pain in the ass to write. I had difficult chapters before, but I just wasn’t having fun writing this. So, if the quality is lower than usual, that’s the reason. Also, considering how this chapter went, it’s safe to say you’re never getting a Gale or Sidney x Reader story from me.

Wait why did Danny have to die?! I really liked him 😢 why must you do this?
I mean, it's Scream, people kinda get killed. If it makes you feel any better, I'm sorry and I liked him too.

I get the feeling that Y/N is gonna wake up locked in a cell and Sam is gonna be locked up there too. Like the cult picked her up when she first went off on her self destructive streak and they’ve just had her the whole time. Thats why no one could get in touch with her. And why the message came from her phone. But that’s just my theory. I don’t particularly understand why Anya agreed to help though. Losing a fight doesn’t seem like a good enough reason to catch a case. People are just being foolish.
No comment, I don't want to spoil it. But, good theory, honestly, I can see it happening.
Also, yeah, thank you for taking time to think of a theory, and one so well thought out! It really means a lot! 💙💙💙

Lost (22) - So Far Away
Tumblr media
Tara Carpenter x female Reader
Summary: To anyone on the outside, and to Tara’s friends, you were Tara’s fierce protector, the MMA fighter who’d take anyone on for Tara. The Guard Dog, as Amber called you. You had no idea you’d have to protect her from people who claimed they loved her. It didn’t matter. As long as you and Tara had one another there was nothing you wouldn’t be able to survive.
Story warnings: Scream violence, family issues, trauma, angst, certain sensitive topics
Word count: 3.8k
Story masterlist / First part / Previous part / Next part
-I have so much to say but you're so far away-
The room he sat in was the last place he’d associate with the woman who owned this apartment. The walls were hidden behind shelves, filled to the brim with books. Books in English, Russian and German, he guessed, ranging from classics to modern literature, from massive encyclopedia to magazines, and there wasn’t a speck of dust anywhere near them. The last time he saw the woman she was fifteen and so stuck in her martial arts training he doubted she ever touched a book. Perhaps he was, as a twelve-year-old in awe of her, simply mistaken. The room had a vintage feel to it, with heavy table in the middle of it, and two tall armchairs on each side. The chandelier above him didn’t seem like it was often used, instead it was there more for aesthetics, instead, he believed the lamp on the table was used for reading during the nights.
There weren’t many people who intimidated him. Sidney Prescott did, with her refusal to be defeated by one of the Ghostfaces despite already being past her prime. Samantha Carpenter did as well, her brutality against Richie Kirsch and his father a year later was frightening. His cousin frightened him even more.
Anya Golubeva lost her title when she fought against you, but she regained it right away and considering you were forced to retire, she reigned supreme for the next three years, until she went and retired, now, at thirty-four, she was still a formidable fighter. She would be the counter to you, a fighter that spent even more time training, a fighter that nearly defeated you, because that match could have gone either way. Thomas made a mistake, he made you angry, he got cocky, she wouldn’t, because she knew exactly what you were capable of.
“So, cousin, what brings you to me?” Anya walked through the door, holding a tray with two cups of coffee. “This far from home?” she sat down, at ease in her home, at ease because there truly wasn’t much that could hurt her.
Cousins… Yet he was nothing like her. Despite his admiration for her, Igor wasn’t a good fighter, he had no talent for martial arts, or sports in general, he didn’t have the dedication needed to overcome the lack of talent either. No, he wasn’t the best fighter, but he had other skills, he was a good hunter, resilient, good with knife and various guns, and, if he could say so himself, he was conventionally good looking, dark hair and blue eyes, in good shape.
“I,” he hunched a bit, making himself seem smaller, trying to remind Anya of how he was as a child. “got into trouble,” he spoke slowly, regretfully, just for a moment glancing up to meet her eyes and then immediately looking down. “With a cult, and now I don’t know how to get out,” there, he said it.
He heard Anya lowering her cup and leaning forward. “What cult?” she sounded more concerned than anything.
Instead of telling her anything, he pulled out the mask with a bear painted on the side. His Ghostface mask.
“Ghostface?” her eyes widened as she watched the mask. “Why? You’re neither young nor stupid?” she demanded, so forcefully he genuinely flinched at her tone.
“I didn’t realize they were serious, I swear! I thought they’d stop after Richie and Amber got killed, but they didn’t! At that point it was too late to back out, they knew me, they’d kill me!” he exclaimed, frantically grabbing the mask and shoving it back into his bag.
“Fine, fine, settle down,” Anya calmed down first, and now she looked more concerned than anything else. “What changed now?”
“If you can help me get rid of one person I can walk away,” knowing how it sounded he quickly raised his hands. “No one will know it was us! Please, it’s either her or me!”
She remained silent, and he just hoped this would work out, that Anya would be willing to hold you back enough for someone to finish you off.
“Who is it?” she asked after several long, dreadful minutes.
“Y/N L/N,” Igor said and her eyes narrowed. For a moment he feared she’d reject him, but instead, she nodded. Perhaps the sting of loss caused resentment toward you.
~X~
No one knew where you were.
No one knew where you were.
No one knew where you were.
Those words repeated in Tara’s mind as she stared at the wall in front of her. She didn’t say a single word since Danny gave in and told her what he knew.
You were gone. No one knew if you were alive, or if you were hurt, or who had you. No… that was obvious. Ghostface had you. She barely registered a glass of milk and a plate filled with pancakes being set down on the coffee table next to her.
“Tara, you need to eat, for your baby if not for yourself,” Danny crouched next to her, likely trying to get her to look at him.
Pancakes. Of course he went with that. It didn’t take long for anyone to find out how often you made them for Tara. They were your comfort meal, a meal she didn’t feel bad to ask for while you were kids, the first meal you made after you two got together, and then again and again, every time exactly how Tara loved them.
Danny knew how to cook, definitely better than Sam, but not as well as you did. She still nodded, picking up the plate and eating more out of obligation to your child than anything else. She barely ate two pancakes when her phone buzzed, signaling she got a message.
Tara frowned and saw it was a photo, and then her eyes widened and she dropped her fork. “Danny!” she yelled, making him run back into the living room.
“What?!” he frantically looked around for an intruder, but Tara just got up and showed him the message she got. It was a photo, of a muscular woman whose face was covered by a Ghostface mask tied to a chair. “Is that Y/N?” his voice wavered a bit, as he spoke what went through Tara’s head when she saw the photo.
A moment later an address popped up and Tara nearly grabbed her jacket right then and there.
“Wait, we need to call Kirby,” Danny grasped Tara’s forearm just firmly enough to keep her from leaving.
“I need to get to Y/N!” she shouted, yanking her arm away from him.
“We don’t know when the photo was taken! It’s an obvious trap, Tara!” he argued back, this time choosing to step between her and the doors.
“I don’t care, she might be there!” she knew she was being unreasonable, that you’d berate her if you knew she was willing to just walk into such an obvious trap, but she knew you’d do the exact same thing.
Luckily, Danny understood her by now. “We’ll go, okay? But we need to call Kirby first, in case we need a back-up,” she could work with that.
So, she sent the photo to Kirby as Danny set up a Zoom call and while they waited for Kirby to join it, Tara just looked at the photo.
Finally, Kirby joined them. “Hey, Tara, Danny. Tara, I’m sorry we kept these things from you,” Kirby opened with that, but Tara shook her head, there’d be time for that conversation later.
“Can you do anything?” Danny asked.
“Not much, but the address does match a warehouse near the harbor,” she said.
“It’s not Y/N,” Tara suddenly declared. “It’s not her, I know it isn’t her,” she knew it, even if three weeks passed, this wasn’t you. Ghostface would taunt her with your face, or at least show a scar so she wouldn’t have any way to doubt it was you. And the woman wasn’t as muscular as you, she was muscular, no doubt about that, but not as much as you. So, no, it wasn’t you.
She was still going to walk right into that warehouse, because there was a chance someone there knew where you were, and she’d never forgive herself if she let this opportunity go. If she had to go alone, she would,
“Tara, listen to me, you’re pregnant, don’t get both of you killed by being reckless,” Kirby told her, but Tara was already getting up.
“Either come and help, or don’t do anything, but I’m not waiting here for someone to tell me what’s going on. You’ve already proven you won’t tell me anything anyway,” she snapped, glaring back at the screen before putting her jacket on and grabbing the biggest knife Danny had.
“Shit! Tara, wait!” she heard Danny running after her, but she didn’t slow down, she just glanced back, saw that he also had a knife and smiled appreciatively at him. “Well,” he shrugged. “I can’t let you go alone,” he said.
~X~
The warehouse was abandoned a long time ago, the windows were broken, glass was everywhere, and there was a lot of dust. So much, in fact, that Tara coughed a few times when they stepped inside. There were a few exits, through the windows, though that would likely be very painful unless they could open the window before jumping through. The doors they just came through and there were two sets of stairs leading to the first floor, that might give them a chance to maneuver if needed.
“There’s nothing here,” Danny said as the two of them looked around, for clues, for any sign of presence, for anything really. All they saw was the chair the person on the photo was tied to. The fact that the chair was whole was just another proof to Tara that you weren’t on the photo. If you were, and if you were untied, you would have fought back, and that chair would have been at least damaged.
They heard them before they saw them. The boots stepping on the shattered glass, steps indicating there were at least two people with them. Tara pulled her knife out and turned around, pointing it toward Ghostfaces.
“Where is Y/N?” she demanded, for the first time coming face to face with the redesigned Ghostface, the robes were the same, the mask was almost the same. These two had animals painted on the side of the mask. One had a bull, the other and elephant. A way to differentiate each other now that there were so many of them. At least the entire cult didn’t come to greet her.
The one with a bull just tilted his head to the side, as if feigning confusion. The two remained silent, slowly approaching her and Danny.
“We’d rather avoid a fight, just tell the lady what she wants to know,” Danny warned them, stepping in front of Tara and she had to admit, he did look imposing, even with two Ghostfaces coming closer and closer.
One of them lunged forward, aiming to stab Danny, but he clashed his own knife against the Ghostface’s blade and closed the distance to land a good punch to the side of Ghostface’s head. Tara’s eyes widened slightly, she knew you and Danny often sparred, but she didn’t realize Danny could hold his own outside of sparring. And he was proving he could hold his own, as he went for the neck with his knife, after all, they needed just one Ghostface alive.
But he stopped, his hand shaking as if he just realized what he was about to do. Tara jumped in, ready to finish the job he clearly couldn’t while the Ghostface was still dazed from the punch. She managed to stab the Ghostface’s chest and stomach, before the other could step in. She pulled away, knowing better than to stay in one place for long as the other Ghostface, the one with the bull painted on the mask pulled his partner back and engaged Danny in combat.
Danny deflected and dodged several stabs, but he struggled to find another opening to land a hit himself. Finally, he got an opportunity to kick the Ghostface away just as the one Tara stabbed was getting ready to jump back in.
“Run!” Danny exclaimed, ushering Tara toward the stairs. They were out in the open, and there was a good chance someone else was in the building with them, so staying in the middle of an open space wasn’t the best option for them. Not right now. And… a small part of both of them, hoped that maybe, just maybe you were held here despite not being on the photo.
Tara took off, running for the stairs with Danny right behind her as the Ghostface duo chased after them. Though risky, the moment Ghostface duo began climbing up the stairs, Danny abruptly stopped and slammed body first into one of them, sending them down the stairs and just barely managing to stay on his feet. He grunted though, and Tara could see the handle of the knife sticking from his side.
“Shit!” she exclaimed and stopped, ready to go back down for him.
“Keep going!” he began running again, pushing through the pain and Tara could see the determination in his eyes. “I’m going to yell at Sam when she comes back. If she was here we could have easily taken these two,” he complained jokingly, mostly to reassure Tara.
Tara nodded, seeing through him, but still appreciating the gesture.
They reached the top of the stairs and realized every door was locked. The only way out was back down, and the Ghostface duo split to cover each side of the stairs.
Tara looked at Danny and then looked toward the Ghostface she stabbed. She’d handle that one. So, they waited as the Ghostface duo began slowly climbing toward them, they stood, back to back, ready to fight the two.
And it ended so quickly Tara barely registered what was happening. Danny took initiative, attacking the one with bull on the mask. He ducked under the blade, grabbed the Ghostface’s leg and pushed him down to the ground, grappling the way you usually did when you were in a rush. This time he didn’t hesitate, and stabbed his knife through the Ghostface’s chest several times.
Tara on the other hand clashed her knife against Ghostface’s, she stepped to the side, slicing quickly and managing to cut through the robe, but not through the flesh of Ghostface’s arm. Her eyes widened slightly when she saw Ghostface swinging his arm toward her head and just barely managed to grab and stop it from hitting her. Thinking fast she lifted her leg, kicking Ghostface between the legs. Ghostface grunted, but didn’t fall to his knees, instead he tried to stab her again.
Tara dodged the blade, but hit the wall and in her daze she couldn’t move out of the way. She could only put her arms between her attacker and her stomach. The knife never came though, as a gasp came from Ghostface in front of her. She opened her eyes and saw a knife sticking out of the Ghostface’s neck, courtesy of Danny. Both Ghostfaces were dead, both killed by Danny.
“Damn,” he took a step back, letting the dead Ghostface fall to the ground. “Guess we’ll have to find clues some other way,” he said making Tara nod.
“Thanks, let’s get out of here,” she wasn’t any closer to finding you, but two enemies were dead.
Danny nodded and the two of them began walking to the doors, carefully watching for any movement.
A loud sound pierced the silence, pierced right through the illusion of safety and Tara’s eyes widened when she saw blood staining Danny’s shirt. She watched in horror as he looked down, shakily touching the red spot just below his chest that was growing larger with every second. “Danny!” Tara cried out, somehow managing to catch him before he fell to the ground. There was too much blood, as hard as she tried, as much as she pressed her palms against the wound she couldn’t stop the bleeding and his breathing was getting shallow. “Stay awake, you hear me! Come on, you need to yell at Sam for leaving, remember?”
He chuckled a bit at that. “I’ll leave that to you,” he said and moved her hands away. “They hit my liver,” the blood, the bullet going through it, the stab wound, Tara just sat back, tears streaming down her face. There was nothing she could do. Even if she could call an ambulance they likely wouldn’t make it in time.
Not that it mattered. Footsteps came from behind her and she turned around just in time to see three Ghostfaces approaching her. Three marks, bear, fish, and monkey, and the one with bear on the mask was carrying the gun.
“Don’t resist, or else,” that voice, the same voice she heard when Amber first attacked her, the same voice that so often haunted her nightmares, she heard it again and this time… instead of pointing a knife at her, the monster pointed a gun at her stomach. “I heard you played a game like this once, only there isn’t an MMA fighter to save you,” Tara narrowed her eyes, but didn’t move.
The Ghostface holding the gun motioned toward her and Danny.
“Let her leave,” Danny demanded with what little strength her had left as he tried to sit up.
“I don’t think so,” one of the other two Ghostfaces said as one grabbed Tara’s arms and pulled them behind her back. She heard the click of handcuffs, felt the cold metal around her wrists and knew there was absolutely nothing she could do.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” she knew it was over, she knew exactly what would happen next, she still flinched when she heard Danny yelping as he was slammed back onto the ground and then she heard the knife slicing through his neck.
“There, just like Samantha cut Richie’s throat,” one of them said and Tara dared to look at him, dead, with blood pooling around his body.
~X~
She knew she should have assigned someone to watch over Tara, and now she was gone and Danny was dead. Kirby sat with her head between her hands and photos laid on her table. The Ghostface she was sure was Sam, the tied-up woman she was sure was you, even if Tara denied it, and painted masks, and other photos she had painted a picture she couldn’t understand.
“Tara is right, this isn’t Y/N,” Gale Weathers being there definitely wasn’t helping.
“How are you so sure?” Kirby demanded. They couldn’t see any scars to confirm if it was really you, but there weren’t as many women as muscular as you.
“It’s not her style. If she even suspected this photo would reach Tara she would have given them hell,” Gale gave her a cheeky, though small smile. “Besides, if someone can recognize Y/N underneath all this it would be Tara.”
Kirby had to agree with that. While she wasn’t there when Richie and Amber did their killings, she was very much aware of what you did for Tara, and while she never got to see you actually hurting someone, she did get to see how protective of the younger Carpenter you were. She had the front seats experience when you came into a bar her and Sam were at once to confront Sam. It was civil, but she could feel the tension, the barely restrained anger on both sides.
It was baffling, really, watching you and Sam argue, after years of seeing the two of you getting along. Sam was never as happy as she was at your and Tara’s wedding, and she more than once expressed how much she appreciated your protectiveness over Tara. And then it was like someone snapped their fingers and the relationship fell apart along with Sam.
And now no one knew where you were, Tara was captured, Danny was dead, Chad, Mindy and Anika couldn’t come, or they would not only be in danger but would be able to kiss their careers goodbye and Sam was… likely a Ghostface. How did it all fall apart like this?
Knocking on the door brought her out of her thoughts and she looked up just as Sidney walked in. “Since when does Ghostface try to blow up cars?” she demanded, distraught, filled with panic and almost desperately looking for answers.
“What?” Gale asked, as puzzled by the question as Kirby.
Sidney slumped into one of the chairs and leaned her head back as she dug her fingers into her hair. “He called me, said I’ll never see my family again. I managed to call Mark and get him and my children get out of the car. Less then a minute later the car exploded,” she explained, fury burning in her eyes. “I need to get this fucker before he harms my family.”
Gale approached her and placed a hand on Sidney’s shoulder. “We’ll get them Sid,” she promised and caught Sidney up with the situation. From suspecting Sam, to your situation, to Tara being captured and Danny being killed.
“I want Tara alive as much as you two, but how do we know she was just kidnapped? Why would they keep her alive?” Sidney asked.
Kirby sighed, frankly, she wasn’t entirely sure what the actual reason was, but she had her suspicions. “It’s either Y/N, or Sam that they are afraid of,” that was the core reason.
“If Tara is alive, they can blackmail one or both of them, if they kill Tara, those two won’t let that go,” Gale agreed and took the photo of Ghostface with dog mark. “Guard dog,” how ironic.
“Even if Sam joined them, she’d turn on them if they hurt Tara,” Sidney agreed, now seeing the logic. “We need to find Y/N.”
And that was the plan, because even if they couldn’t count on Sam being sane enough to help them, they could count on you. Especially when you learn that Tara was captured.
Kirby’s phone rang and all three of them nearly jumped out of their skin, but Kirby relaxed when she saw the name of one of her colleagues. “Yes?”
“Special Agent Reed, we identified the number the message came from. It belongs to Samantha Carpenter,” there was no doubt anymore.
Sam was Ghostface.
A/N: Well… people are dying, I wonder who is next… Anyway, recently someone suggested a tag list for Woe out the Storm, so I figured, If I'm making it for that story, I guess I could make it for Lost as well. So, if you want to be on the tag list either send a message, an ask (though I won't answer it if it's just that you want to be on the tag list) or tell me in a reply. (Note that tag list is story specific, so specify which story you want, and yeah, that's about it)
