Reblogging this to see if anyone else wants to vote because it's got 3 days left but also it would be good to get a wider sample because the answer which is way ahead at the moment has massively surprised me.

It would be quicker and less painful to just scrap the next general election and replace it with a broadcast of Sunak and Starmer publicly wanking themselves into a frenzy over the England flag. Whoever climaxes first gets to be Prime Minister and let's face it, this is no more demeaning or tasteless than anything else that goes on in British politics.

just a reminder to COMPLETELY boycott Eurovision this year; Azerbaijan and Israel, despite committing genocide, are STILL allowed to compete & have NOT been banned. by refusing to ban both countries, Eurovision is profiting off of the genocide of Palestinians and Armenians.
do not listen to the artists. do not pirate or stream the artists' music, and this applies to ALL the artists who are competing and performing this year. do not listen to the songs on ANY platform, do not give them ANY attention.
write to your broadcasters and tell them you REFUSE to watch the channels until they recognise the Armenian and Palestinian genocides & that you find it disgusting how they are allowing Eurovision despite Azerbaijan and Israel's entries.
do NOT give eurovision OR the competing artists ANYTHING but silence.
boycott ALL of eurovision.

The dickheads at the so-called Campaign Against Antisemitism decided to try and disrupt a pro-Palestine march in London on 13 April. The police saw what was happening and intervened to stop him winding up protesters. So the CAA claimed that their guy had been persecuted by police for being visibly Jewish and the BBC continued to run with the CAA's account despite it being an obvious distortion.
This is from the full story:
The officer said: "Unfortunately, sir you took it upon yourself to go from the pavement right into the middle of a pro-Palestinian march, which is why I asked you to go away."
He added: "You are looking to try and antagonise this."
That story is from Sky News, so we're now at the point where we can trust a Murdoch-owned operation more than the BBC. Remember this when you renew your licence cos you're desperate to watch The Traitors or Doctor Who or whatever other shit they have.

Demanding sources for something you could easily google and verify yourself is the height of loser behaviour.

I don't want to be dismissive of people's fears, but Sunak will not be in power long enough for any reforms of sick notes or employment law to happen under the Tories. The consultation doesn't close until July. There's the summer recess in parliament, then everyone's attention will move to the general election which has to take place in December if not earlier. Sunak is saying all this stuff now to get more donations in from business before the election campaign.
Instead there will probably be some eventual reform under Starmer which will probably achieve the same effect, but won't generate the same outrage. That's the next few years of British politics by the way: the continuation of Tory policy, with no real opposition or scrutiny because the media will be happy to have a "centrist" in power doing these things.

i don't have words to express what a shit movie "oppenheimer" is. i expected it to be politically incoherent, but not as incompetent, boring or self-indulgent as it is. the lack of interest it has in the victims of hiroshima and nagasaki is astounding. the mediocrity of the acting performances and the dialogue is stunning. the inappropriate attempt to juxtapose 2 storylines on entirely different scales is bizarre. the frenetic editing and hyperactive score used to try and inject some energy into the first half of the movie is ridiculous. it seems that the filmmaker believed his central character to be far more complex than he actually is? oh and the part where emily blunt suddenly turns into His Girl Friday at the end, after being anything but breezy for the entire movie? hilarious.
just fucking wild. i suddenly get why people were raving about barbie now, next to this it's casafuckingblanca.

In January 2024, Angela Rayner was confronted by a man who lost five members of his family in Gaza. He wanted to know why she had not voted for a ceasefire. The man in question was dragged out of the venue, whilst Rayner did nothing. The audience of Labour supporters clapped at his removal.
A few days later Rayner told Richard Madeley that she had done "everything I possibly could" to prevent attacks on Gaza. Earlier that month, Rayner had stated her opposition to boycotts against Israel. In February, she complained she was "scared to go out" due to being confronted by protesters.
So I don't really care if Tories are kicking up a fuss about her housing expenses for no good reason. I'm glad she's having a terrible time. I hope it gets worse. I won't waste any breath pointing out any injustice against someone who looks at a victim of genocide and thinks "here is an obstacle to be removed."

If you read Novara Media or follow any of their journalists, please read and consider this Twitter post by Mohammed El-Kurd.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's been a recurring theme with Novara for a while now that certain commentators (most notably Aaron Bastani and Michael Walker) have been coming out with increasingly authoritarian and right-wing takes in some ill-conceived bid to boost their platform and find common ground with right-wing people. In this case, Bastani's actions led to 3 people being charged with a crime. Please think about the impact of supporting Novara, given this context.

I can't get over the fact that my antizionist posts and my anti-transphobia posts get reblogged by completely different audiences, despite the fact that TERFs and Zionists behave almost identifically and are often the exact same people. Have people not made this connection?

Carvell Wallace - "It's Always About Power: the hypocrisy is the point"
(on Medium, you can use google to sign in)
In short, they don’t actually think they are right, so trying to prove them wrong like it’s a fucking debate club is not going to make anyone change their behavior. It doesn’t matter if they believe they’re right; it matters if they are in charge. It matters if they are in power.
