âPeople are anti recast donât like me because Iâm poor and donât have an expensive legit doll, thatâs why Iâm not liked for having a recast!â No, itâs because youâre choosing to pay people to actively steal from artists while you claim you love the dolls of the artists, but own recasts of their dolls. Thatâs why people arenât too fond to you. We donât give a flying fuck how much money you make, if you buy a recast or defend them, youâre not going to be welcomed with open arms.

Even though Iâm not able to go to LDoll this year, this still is so disappointingâŚ.
âRecasts arenât putting artist out of business and arenât a big deal, a company hasnât shut down yet so stop overreacting!â
Even though they say there hasnât been a âclearâ connection to a company shutting down due to recasts, but doesnât mean that counterfeits donât lasting affects on the artists and everyone else in the community.
Artists are not faceless people. They have feelings and valid concerns and with them seeing other artists in the works stolen people and seeing people would rather support recasters, does effect them deeply and emotionally. It starts with things like these with Lillycat pulling her convention appearance due to recasts becoming more of a prevalent problem and build up over time until it reaches a tipping point.
Companies not shutting down left and right is still not a valid reason to see recast are âharmlessâ and are not debatable.
Thereâs no excuse to buy a recasts. You are making a selfish decision that affects the people who make the dolls that made you join this hobby and are supporting theft.
End of story.

Recast owners, if you have faced real bullying, TELL US and/or SHOW who it is so we can shame them. Telling us it happened isnât enough. And Iâm not talking about a person retorting back to your posts or talking about how recasts hurt the hobby, Iâm talking about people who are legitimately threatening you, demeaning you, or wishing youâre dead. We may not like that you have recasts, but we do not condone bullying, and if someone does, we will call them out. Period.

hereâs the thing
when I first started getting into BJD, people at meetups told me stories about how when the âhobbyâ first started, some people would be assholes if your doll wasnât Volks, Fairyland, or Luts. Â
Iâve seen threads on DoA about how âoffensiveâ it is to copy someone elseâs faceup, or the look/theme they did for their doll.
now since recasts have gotten more attention, youâve all decided that THIS is the worst thing ever and that clearly this is why the hobby is âdyingââŚ. I mean have you ever honestly considered that a hobby that is only accessible to those with lots of money doesnât have a long life anyway?

Im going to try and make a doll âinformationâ page that should be easily accessible on my profile for anyone interested. All my dolls will be tagged with company name and sculpt from now on, along side with a legit tag.Â
I will be linking company links, sculpt, cost, etc. This is to help make doll information of legits more accessible for anyone new and starting the hobby. I might even add some useful videos I found via youtube on how to still save a good buck while buying legit via hybridizing. Or highlighting more budget-friendly dolls that have a lot of amazing potential.Â
It might be some time, but if you are always curious and want to know where I get my dolls please please feel free to message me and ask.Â
If and when I ever do start faceups again, I will be offering either a discounted price or a free faceup for those going all-legit. Iâll work details later. I want to celebrate you. I want to say âthank youâ for changing your ways and supporting a beautiful hobby I am so passionate about.

Some of you pro-recasters seem to not acknowledge that this is a small niche hobby, and if doll companies sold their dolls for a lower price, everyone that wanted one could easily acquire it, and then that would be it. The dolls would be out there to re-sell and circulate. The company would lose a massive amount of money from the secondhand market alone. Dolls arenât something that need to be constantly replaced like ink cartridges or clothes, once youâve sold that product itâs good to go. Youâve got that doll for a long time. Which means less money going to the people that created it in the first place.
Factor in this: you make a doll for a hobby thatâs already small. Not everyone has the same tastes in dolls. This makes the pool of buyers smaller. Some people will like your doll but their collection is complete or they donât have a âcharacterâ for it. Again, the pool of buyers shrinks. Some wonât like that the doll is single/double jointed. The buyer pool shrinks, again. Some people want the doll in only a certain color and youâre not selling it in that color. Shrinkage. After shrinkage⌠ad nauseam.
Creating and selling a doll is a total gamble and you can never predict how well it will sell in the first place. Itâs a labor of love and takes a lot of time and money to perfect to begin with. Theyâre not factory made. Now after all this: if you sell this doll for $150 and only a few people buy it: you might hardly break even. But if those few buyers that absolutely adore your doll buy it for $300/$600/whatever or more, youâll actually make a living and can have some leftover to make even more dolls. Do you understand yet now thatâs itâs laid out in hopefully the most painfully obvious way? Maybe not. Maybe some of you are still too blind to how a market works.
The way I see it - this hobby needs to be considered a luxury hobby. The time and energy that goes into the mechanics behind a doll take an extreme amount of time and money. The artists arenât being greedy, they arenât âlarge corporationsâ, theyâre simply trying to make ends meet in an already tiny market.
If you canât afford to be in this hobby, donât join it. You have that choice. But donât trample in here with your entitled attitude and assume everyone will welcome you for stealing from artists and destroying a hobby that could be on the brink of ruin at any point with how small it is.

New account linked, more activity. MORE DOLLS.
So I have just linked my main tumblr account to this blog. We have just moved and there are a lot of plans I have. I just need to find a nice camera and get unpacked/settled in.Â
I also want to remind everyone who is following with recent BJD events, I am strictly anti-recast. Please be advised I will not support nor ever point anyone to counterfeit BJD dolls. It is nothing personal with the person collecting counterfeit, it is just my stance on âdoll politicsâ as an artist myself. With aspirations of possibly creating my own dolls in the very near future. I do not have any feeling about the person, but I am against giving money to people who take peoples work and make money off of something that is not theirs.Â
This is a luxury hobby, and if a doll is expensive please considering saving up. Or looking for a better option more within your budget. I am a starving artist (not starving just donât have a huge income and lower-class), I know it sucks, but just hang in there. The feeling of receiving the doll you want after saving up is such an amazing feeling.Â
Thank you for your time and sticking with me!

Dolly Update.
So two of my precious darlings made it home safe! I had ordered a Dollzone Abby, and she made it home.Â
Then right after, my Island Doll An-An arrived the next day. I should take pictures. They are un-patinted, but still so cute.Â

There is so much toxicity in the tumblr portion of the BJD hobby, and i want to send a reminder to those out there that might need to hear it:
You can have whatever legit doll you want, whether its from Fairyland or Mirodoll. You can have whatever size doll you want, from the biggest giants to the smallest critters. You can make your clothes/do the faceups/make the wigs or you can buy them. You do not have to have a high end, certain sized doll in order to be taken seriously in the community.Â
Pair your Resinsoul with an Iplehouse, give that Soom a fabulous sock dress, try doing your first faceup on that Migidoll head, hybrid that Ringdoll with Mirodoll. Its YOUR hobby, just as much as it is everyone elses, and nobody has any right to police you or put rules in place that donât exist.
As long as you buy legit, then you are welcome here, no matter what kind of BJD you have.

These pictures are older.Â
One of my first time taking pictures of one of my dolls.
This is Cassandra, my Fairyland Miniffee Rissie in tan skin. I ordered her frome Denver Doll Emporium and was my second BJD. She holds a special place in my heart because she was a gift from my husband after I had gotten out of the U.S. Navy for medical reasons.Â
By far one of the most precious gifts he has ever given me. She still has this older faceup done by myself many years ago. I think I need to give her a new one, but not for awhile.Â

I know this might of already been brought up, but in the future maybe some watermarks for your photography may help. If anything, it would make it easier for fans to spot. I know recasters are going to use photographs without permission, as their entire âbusiness practiceâ is well... bootlegging, taking what isn't theirs and selling it.
Lovely picture and beautiful doll though. Amazing message. <3
Since it has been brought to my attention that some people use the image of my Lillycat doll Melody to promote recasts, well, here is what Melody has to say about this.
Please respect the work of an artist and buy legit dolls only. Â

Im back.
I dont use tumblr much anymore. Im back though.Â
I want to post all my BJD updates here. All more work here. All my faceups here.
I took a long break from the hobby due to money troubles, but we are doing way better.Â
I also want to clarify for those who are new. I do not participate in hobby drama. However, I AM ANTI-RECAST. As an artist, and one who may be making my own dolls sculpts in the future. I am completely against recasts. If you are not okay with this, please feel free to block me.Â
I want no part in any of the drama-llamas. Thank you for your consideration of following me, and checking out my work. <3
