As a creepypasta writer and enthusiast I agree with this take. Ive seen marble hornets and the use of the duo as proxies I feel only serves as a reasonable explanation as to why they're included in the Pastaverse the way they are. I always viewed it as indentured servitude, as something that isn't willing but was the unfortunate outcome from the horrors of the series. But that doesn't mean that they actually ARE proxies.

Fannon and canon are very different things

edit: i have a much, MUCH clearer explanation(a whole ass speech lol) on my instagram post on how it's okay to have AUs and headcanons of them being proxies, as long as you know the source material and respect it. i could've worded this way more differently but i was in a really bad mood at the time of making this, hence why it sounds so aggressive. i was honestly more mad at the stubborn people who refuse to learn anything about MH and continue to think they're proxies especially the ones who correct other people that it's canon (when they're clearly wrong)💀
