      “ hmmmmmmm! no worry, gelfling!  no worry for you, yes? yessss? is fine! is very fine! skeksis won’t hurt you! please, calm down! please, please. ”  an unease is buried in his tone, but unearthing any truth seemed unlikely. words seemed to have fallen from his mouth without a care. hands fly up, wispy palms showing that they held nothing——no knife to wound, no scepter to flail. In fact, his voluminous robes were rather lacking. tattered, torn and dirtied. only the jewels shimmered still.

skekSil took a step back, eyeing the fuzzy creature she held.

“ see? nothing! i no hurt you and little friend, yes? am very weak skeksis…hmmm? ”

                        a   heavy  ache  in  her  chest   would   contort   her   heart,      fear  &  anxiety  was  the  weakness  of  ANY  creature.     HORRIBLE,    terrible   monsters   the  skeksis  were.       fizzgig   would  growl   once   again,     but   stayed   tucked   away   in   her  arms,      holding   him   CLOSER   she’d   back   away   slowly,    taking  a  few  steps  before   coming  to  a  stop.

                       breathing   became   almost  difficult   for   her,     ‘     no   !    ----  what   do   you   want   ?!     ‘     frantic   tone,     there  was  no  chance  she’d  find  peace  right  now  !   this  all  was  a  trick,     skeksis  SHOULD  never  be  trusted.   the  attempt  to  comfort  her,    assure  he’d  do  no  harm...    it   TRULY  only  made  matters  worse.    FLEE  she  would,     but  behind  her  stood   a  large  wall   ----    the  gelfling  was  running  out  of  options.

      “ oh, yes? you gelfling girl, yes? such pretty wings! pretty, pretty! ”   skeletal hands twitched, each and every thin finger adorned with a gleaming ring.  they feint, eager to pry at something ( this didn’t look good! ).  “ let skekSil see! skekSil is your friend!  pretty, pretty wings! ”

                         gentle,     delicate   features.     in   height,     she   was   of   NO  comparison.     a  FEAR  within  her  core  erupted,    BURSTING  to  the  surface.    the  mention  of   her  wings,      fear  further  spreading;      there   was   NO   good  that  ever  came  with  the  presence  of  a  skeksis   !     horror,    much   PAIN   &   cruelty.      ‘    B-BACK  AWAY  !    ‘    a   quiver   in   those  words,      she   appeared   to   be  CORNERED.    the   defensive   growl  of   fizzgig   was   a   WARNING   ----   step   no  further    !     ‘   I  DON’T  BELIEVE  YOU  !    ‘

         “ Gefling thought it could hide from us, hm? Stupid, ugly creature! You thought you could stay alive to threaten Skeksis with your prophecy– instead your essence will be mine and you will be dung-dust!” The EMPEROR bark-cackles in the Gefling’s face, his rancid breath on full blast. He looks to IT and sees youth, a font from which the new Emperor may drink and relive what he would like to remember as a warrior’s past.

“ Ready to die, Gefling? ”

                                                  ‘    no   !    NO  !    ‘        yelling,     she  pushed  BACK  with  her  own  words.      body   shaken,     TERRIFIED    for   what  was  to  come.     SMALLER,     weaker,    there  was  no  chance  she  stood,     it   was  known.      SPIRIT   wouldn’t  die,    though.     fear   perhaps  was  present  but  it  wouldn’t  break  her.     ‘    AH ---  !    ‘     the  attempts,     small  frame  would  struggle,    in  her   mind   &   heart   there  was  still   HOPE  of  freedom.

            ’    this   wont----   EH  !  -----  this   wont   change   anything   !    ‘     spoken   in   protest.
