Can you do a fluffy Evan Buckley x reader where the reader is a cop? Thank you 😊
Summary: you remember the way how Evan asked you to marry him.
Pairing: Evan Buckley x Reader
A/N: I don’t know if this is something you had in your mind, but after a lot of brainstorming this was one of my favourite ideas. Also the end sucks kind of but I tried to do it fluffly!
It’s the first day at work for you as Y/N Buckley. You still can’t believe, that you married that clown of a man. The way Evan proposed, was quite different and amazing at the same time!
You got called because two dudes started a fight at a parkinglot next to a café. When you and Athina, your partner in crime, arrived at the location, you already saw a small crowd of people shouting and cheering. “What the hell is wrong with them?“ you complained and Athina shooked her head. “Some humans will be monkeys forever.” You giggle a bit before you set your Pokerface on.
“LAPD!” You shoutout and the group of people already went steps away. It never works that fast like today, you thought. Again you said in a loud voice: “LAPD. Stop-“ it’s now when you realised that there aren’t two men’s fighting, it’s just your boyfriend Evan Buckley, siting with one knee on the ground. You’re looking confused around you everyone is smiling (even Athina), everyone seems to know what’s going on. Your first thought was a proposal, but you couldn’t believe it. “What’s going on?” You asked buck. He chuckled and shooked his head. “What do you think?” He raised curios an eyebrow. You sighted and walked to buck, then you kneeled down, so you could see in those beautiful eyes of his. Then in a steady voice you said: “Tell me what’s going on, or you sleep at eddies place today.” You tried to be honest, but your voice is shaky. Not in a bad way, not in a hopeful way.
Buck inhaled very deep, before exhaling all his angst away. “Y/N (Y/M/N) Y/L/N, will you bring me, your loving and handsome boyfriend.” Your eyes are watering and you fight not to cry, Buck who noticed it, grabbed with one hand yours. “Ahm- I lost the string.” Buck said with red cheeks. “I got lost in your eyes, like always.” You both chuckled and you heard a lot of “aww” but you ignored it. You saw a tear running down Evans right eye. You quickly wipped it away. “I can close my eyes, if you want to.” You said with a shaky voice, your hand still on bucks cheek.
“Y/N, I love you with every cell in my body. Baby, your the best thing that happend to me. And I know, I do stupid thinks and I know, I don’t think things through.” He exhaled one more time. “But this isn’t anything stupid and I thought everything through.” Buck placed a hand on your cheek. “I am asking you to stay with me until death do us apart.” Your crying by now. “Will you marry me?!” You nodded wildly and said as often as you could yes. “Yes?” Buck repeated. “Yes!” You said falling into his arms, Buck fell backwards and you on top of him. “Of course I want to marry you!”
“Why did you proposed like this?” You asked your fiancé, when both of you where cuddling on your bed. “You always have does crazy cases, every day. And I felt like nothing could top your cases. So I tried to do the proposal like a case of yours.” Buck said while leaning his forehead on yours and you melted, becouse how cute was this? “It was even on the same spot. That was the case you we both met for the first time.” He said and then you remembered. “Oh Buck. That’s so freaking cute!” You said honestly. “But how did I not noticed it? The day where that hot firefighter, needed to check me out, becouse one of those stupid boys punched me!” You felt ashamed that you didn’t recognised it, but you found it very cute that Buck still remembers. “But every way you would have proposed to me would be amazing, sweet and worth to remember!” You gave Evan a kiss, a really long but soft one.

For The Best.
you break up with Buck after he decides to sue the city.
angst - evan buckley x gn! reader
you raced around Buck’s apartment, trying to get all of your things before he returned. the two of you spoke on the phone not long ago and he was trying to rush back and speak with you, but you refused.
now you’re trying to hurry before he gets back.
the front door opened and you froze for a second. he must have ran a few red lights to get back this quickly. you shook your head and continued to shove your clothes into the duffel bag next to you.
“(Name)!” Buck called out.
“leave me alone, Buck!” you yelled back.
he sighed and climbed up the stairs, seeing you standing at the top with your bag. he had never been on the receiving ends of one of your glares.
“you’re in my apartment. it’s kind of hard to leave you alone.” he chuckled.
you scoffed and rushed down the stairs, pushing past him. Buck sighed and followed after you, watching as you grabbed your keys off the counter.
“can’t we talk about this?” he asked.
“we aren’t supposed to be talking.” you shot back.
he snatched your wrist and pulled you closer to him, “(Name), i’m serious. please.”
“i’m serious too.” you said, “you’re not supposed to have conversations with anyone from the 118, nor anyone who has contact or relations with them. or did you already forget what your lawyer said?”
you pulled away and fiddled with your keys. it was a pain in the ass to pull off the spare key he had given you. after you failed twice, you sighed in defeat and and held out your keychain towards Buck.
he trudged towards you and gently grabbed the keys out of your hand. he grabbed the spare key, looking up at you before twisting it off your keychain. you quietly thanked him and grabbed the rest of your keys. just as you were about to walk out, you noticed a picture frame of you two. it was from one of your first dates.
Buck smiled, “that was the first time i heard you laugh. like actually laugh. i just had to take a picture.”
“i remember.” you said softly.
“(Name), you don’t have to do this. we talk this out. it doesn’t have to be the end of us.” his arms carefully wrapped around you. “please.” he rested his forehead against the back of your head.
you relaxed in his hold and blinked back tears, it killed you to do this.
“it’s for the best.” you said, pulling away.
“i love you, Buck. i really do. but what you’re doing is something that’s hurting everyone else i care about.”
“what about me?” he asked.
you turned around and frowned.
“i’ve worked so hard for this. i need my job back and i’m going to do whatever it takes to get it back.”
“just remember who you might be losing in the process.”
//
do i hate this? kinda. am i still gonna post it? yeah lmfao

Tumblr media
"You okay?"
(Y/n) opened her eyes and looked to her left when she felt a hand on her knee and a shoulder bump into hers. She smiled across at Chimney and nodded, but he could see the wince she was hiding and the pain behind her eyes.
"Someone else can go up the ladder tomorrow." (Y/n) moved her hand to touch the left side of her chest. She knew her ribs weren't broken, but they were going to be banged up and bruised by the morning. In all the hustle and bustle trying to get people out of the top floor of an apartment building and onto the ladder, (Y/n) had taken a fall.
It had been a good job she was hooked on a wire connecting to the top of the truck, but it didn't make her landing on the edge of the ladder any easier. All the wind had been knocked out of her and she stumbled down the ladder whilst helping a woman down. And (Y/n) didn't breathe at all until she was almost passing out on the roof of the truck.
She felt Chimney pat her knee with a grin before he shook his head and turned to look out the window. They were almost back at the station now.
At least her shift was over.
(Y/n) could go get a shower, get changed from her uniform that needed a good wash, and then she could head home.
With a sigh, (Y/n) flopped her head back on the headrest and messed with the headphones that made her ears feel fuzzy. She continued to graze her fingers up and down her side, keeping her touch light to see if a small massage might make her chest loosen up and take away the ache in her chest.
It felt strange to be sat in the truck with Bobby, Chimney and Evan but without Hen and Eddie. The pair of them were on their way to the hospital with a patient. The young boy had become so attached to Eddie that he wouldn't let anyone else treat him. So he and Chimney had switched places.
"Alright, who needs a coffee?" A few grumbles came through the headset as Bobby backed up the truck into the station.
(Y/n) whipped off her headset and slumped them on the spare seat on her right while she undid her belt.
Her hands moved to rub up and down her knees and she plastered a smile on her face as she waited patiently for the boys to climb out first. They would be quicker than her and she needed a minute to click her spine into place and make sure her chest wouldn't tighten when she got up.
Her eyes followed Evan as he practically jumped out the truck, and once Chimney followed suit, (Y/n) sighed and stood up. She tilted her head down and clicked her back into place, leaning from left to right to loosen herself up.
The pain in her chest wasn't too bad now she was up and able to stretch her chest and take a deep breath.
"Alright," She murmured to herself. Maybe getting a coffee with the team would be a good idea to loosen up before she went home. And Eddie had given her a lift in this morning. She needed to wait for her brother to get back to the station so she could catch a ride home with him.
Dragging a hand across the scruff of his neck, Tommy clicked his neck from side to side as he walked past the truck that had just reversed into the station. Eddie said his shift ended around this time and they were supposed to be heading out tonight for a quiz night at a local bar.
He knew he was welcome to hang around the station and wait for Eddie and he had just seen Chimney jog towards the stairs to the kitchen. He could always go and have a chat with Chimney while he waited.
A shiver rolled down Tommy's spine and he jumped when a scream broke out from inside the truck.
He barely managed to twist his body to the right towards the open door before a loud thud echoed through the station and a body tumbled towards him.
On instinct, Tommy lurched his arms forward and he braced himself when a body propelled down towards him. A head bashed into his shoulder, hands grappled with his biceps and a small chest smashed into his. He had to deadlock his knees and brace his back as he leaned backwards to steady them both before whoever it was took him down to the floor.
His arms deadlocked around a slimmer waist than his own and his hands pressed flat against the back of their chest.
"Oh," (Y/n) pushed her forehead up off a very hard chest and her chin tilted into the man's sternum as she tried to stare up at him.
Her eyes went wide when she was met with a pair of dark, blown pupils that were locked on her. She could feel herself shaking and her fingers dug into his biceps like tallons refusing to let him go.
The feel of (Y/n)'s chest smushed up against a very hard chest felt like (Y/n) was slumped against a brick wall. She didn't recognise whoever it was that had graceously caught her from her fall. He wasn't in the station uniform. He wasn't in a uniform that read a different station house either. He was wearing a plain white sleeveless shirt and a pair of dark black jeans that looked a little too tight when (Y/n) dared to glance down at him.
"I- um-"
"You look a little stuck."
His words took her by surprise and (Y/n) blinked, parting her lips but she didn't say anything. She could see his eyes finally tear away from hers so he could look behind her and (Y/n) dared to twist her head round to the right.
She had caught her boot in Evan's seatbelt.
He must have flung the belt off and it didn't reel back up into the holder. (Y/n) had stood in the loop and got herself tangled up like a fish being reeled up on a hook. Her chest was leaning heavily on the stranger in front of her, she had her right leg bent and her foot wrapped up in the seatbelt. And her left leg was hanging on one of the steps leading down from the truck.
If this rather handsome stranger hadn't caught her, (Y/n) would either have fallen to the floor or headbutted the steps on the truck. He had saved her from a big dilemma.
"Okay, just hang tight a minute." Tommy inched his right arm a little tighter around her waist and took two steps closer. He braced his chest up against hers and held her weight easily for her while he reached his left hand out to grab her ankle.
He tried to be careful but his eyes kept drifting back to those big doe eyes that were staring up at him like she had never seen anyone like him before. He could feel her fingers grabbing his arms tightly and she was taking short, shallow breaths that panted against his chest.
Tommy lifted her right ankle up and wrangled with the seatbelt which he flung back into the truck once it was uncurled from her leg.
(Y/n) sucked in a deep breath and moved her hands up from his biceps to grip his shoulders when his arm swooped around the back of her thighs. She held her breath as deeply as she could and tried to stay floppy when he stepped back and pulled her along with him.
He lifted her up as if she weighed nothing. His arms stayed tight around her and he suddenly grinned down at her, making (Y/n)'s stomach flutter with adrenaline.
Once she felt him lean forward and her boots suddenly touched the floor, she could have fainted. Her head went light and bubbled up with air and her breaths came out quick and panting, but she couldn't find it in herself to let go of him. Not yet.
"There you go," He spoke so quietly and softly that (Y/n) almost didn't hear him.
All she could focus on was the feeling of his arm bound tight around her waist and his hand flat out against her back. She could feel his fingertips spread out against her skin and each finger began to tap against her like he was creating a rhythm.
"Are you okay?"
(Y/n) felt the way both his hands moved to her hips, but he didn't let go of her. Even though both her feet were now firmly on the floor instead of tangled in the back of the truck. And (Y/n) somehow couldn't bring herself to let go of him, either.
"Hm, thank you." She dipped her head down and glanced at her boots as she felt heat rising on her neck and swarming along her skin.
She gave his tough shoulders a squeeze before she found the courage to let go of him and hold her own weight on her trembling legs. Her hands moved to run up and down her hips and thighs out of anxious habit. (Y/n) had to tilt her head back to get a good look at the man in front of her. He was tall. He was built very sturdy.
Broad shoulders. Thick, tense arms. A chest as hard as rocks and hands that finally left her hips and clenched into tight fists at his sides.
His quirked smile was something to stare at too. He dragged his tongue across his lower lip and danced his eyes up and down her frame while he moved his hands to hold his hips.
"Do you make it a habit, falling onto people?" His tone was light in jest and his voice was quiet but rough and rugged around the edges.
"Not usually," (Y/n) clasped her hands together behind her back and took another glance down at her boots that hadn't even scuffed on her fall. She was a bit of a clutz at times, but (Y/n) had never fallen onto someone like that before. It wasn't one of her better moments, she would admit. And it was a good job he had been walking past, whoever he was.
Turning to the right, (Y/n) gave the truck door a nudge and leaned against it once it was closed.
"Thank you, and I'm sorry I uh, landed on you. I'm (Y/n)," She held her hand out in front of her but her breath caught in her throat when his burly hand locked in hers.
He had such a firm grip (Y/n)'s arm shuddered and she gave his hand a squeeze.
"Don't worry about it, I'm glad I caught you." The way he let go of her hand to drag his hand across his chin made (Y/n) intrigued. "(Y/n)… you're not Eddie's little sister, are you?"
Her smile gave Tommy his answer. He had just bumped into his new friend's sister. The girl Tommy had been rather intrigued and eager to meet. Eddie didn't tell him (Y/n) worked with him at the fire house, Tommy wasn't expecting to walk around the station and bump into her on his way.
"I'm Tommy."
(Y/n) smiled as she sucked in a deep breath and gave him another once over. So this was her brother's new friend. The guy everyone else at the station had bumped into at one point or another. The guy that used to work here before (Y/n), Eddie or Evan ever tranferred here.
Despite what she had heard about Tommy, (Y/n) didn't expect him to be like the person stood in front of her. So tough and tense and outwardly cold yet soft and approachable on the inside.
"Eddie talks about you a lot, it's lovely to meet you. Are you here to see him?"
"Uh yeah, we're heading out to a quiz night when he finishes." Tommy stuffed his hands into his back pockets but he tilted his head to one side when (Y/n) pursed her lips and dropped his gaze. "Something wrong?"
"No, no… he was supposed to be my ride home. I'll see if I can catch a lift with Buck."
She stole a glance to the right but she couldn't see up into the annex from down here. Once she'd seen Eddie when he got back, she would see if Evan would be graceous enough to give her a lift home. They were all used to doing car shares when they were on the same shifts, it was easier than everyone driving in and driving home after long or particularly hard shifts.
Her eyes snapped back up to Tommy when he took a step closer. She felt her chest tighten and her stomach pool with adrenaline when he leaned his arm on the truck. He stood so close (Y/n) could almost feel each breath he took and his quirky smile made her shiver right down to her toes.
"Why don't you come with us?"
"Really?" It was a tempting idea, and not just because being so close to Tommy was making her stomach flutter. She hadn't been out in a while and it would be good to spend some time with Eddie too without being on shift and having to go into burning buildings or drag people out of crumpled cars.
Being around Tommy was a very tempting idea, as long as (Y/n) wasn't going to feel like a third wheel or like she was the little kid tagging along behind her brother.
"Course. And it's free drinks if we win." The way Tommy drummed his fingers on his hip caught (Y/n)'s attention. And she noticed that even though he was leaning against the truck and was stooped over, he still managed to tower above her.
"Well, you did just save me from a broken ankle, so I think I owe you a few drinks."
His smile made her heart flutter. Tommy had just saved her from a harsh landing, the least (Y/n) could do was buy him a drink to say thank you. And she wanted to spend a bit more time with him, even if they would be in the company of her big brother.
***
"What have we got?" Tommy placed his hands on his hips and took a look around the scene.
There wasn't very much to look at when the road was barely lit by the street lights and the sky was as black as midnight oil. All Tommy knew was that they needed more units. At least four cars were piled up here and Tommy's unit was the first one to get here. They had one ambulance. That wasn't going to be enough to help them. It wasn't going to get everyone out of here.
"I need you all to spread out, check for casualties and direct anyone who can walk over to the side of the road for the EMTs to arrive."
Tommy did his best to refrain from rolling his eyes when a medic bag was thrust into his chest. He slid it on his shoulder and set off into a fast jog.
He wasn't a medic.
He wasn't trained to be a paramedic, he rarely helped out on the medical side of things except for transporting patients to and from the hospital. Even way back when he had been with the 118 and had been friends with Chimney, he didn't take that much notice of the procedures.
He rounded the back of a dark blue Ford only to have one of his team wave him over to the next car along that had yet to be checked out.
Tommy was suppposed to be on the rota for the helicopter ride tonight. He had been switched last minute because they had no available units to a major pile up on the motorway and they needed all the help they could get down here.
"Okay, LAFD, can I-" His words tapered off into the brisk midnight air and the bag on his shoulder slumped to the tarmac when he wrangled the passenger door open.
Oh God.
It felt like all the air sucked out of Tommy's chest and he crashed his knees against the bottom of the car, crouching beside the driver's seat.
It was (Y/n).
Tommy had only seen her two days ago when he went round to Eddie's house for an indoor games night with most of the 118.
When I said I wanted to be alone with (Y/n), this is NOT what I meant!
Tommy wanted a moment, an hour, a day alone with (Y/n). He wanted to be at the quiz night with her or go out for a drink or just sit and have a chat with her without anyone else on the team around. But this isn't what he had in mind. He didn't mean he wanted to have to treat her in an accident on his own. He wasn't a medic. This wasn't his field of expertise.
"(Y/n), hey, are you with me?" He reahed a tender hand out to cup the side of her head while he pushed up on his knees to be level with her.
"Tommy…" The surprise was evident in (Y/n)'s voice, but it was the way her eyes locked on him that had him shivering in his boots.
Her trembling hand reached out and curled around his wrist, holding him with such a grip he almost lost the feeing in his fingertips. He could see the tears in her eyes and the track marks down her face and each breath she took seemed to hitch higher and higher until she was barely breathing at all.
"Yeah, it's me. I thought you told me you didn't do this kind of thing often, hm?"
Her lips quirked into a baiting smile and (Y/n) managed a deeper breath. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes for a few seconds, but she didn't let go of Tommy's wrist. Not until he slowly pulled out of her grip so he could assess her.
"Can I take a look at you?"
"Please, g-get me out."
"I will, don't worry. Just hang in there, I need to check you over first before I try moving you, okay?"
(Y/n) stayed briskly pushed back in the chair and moved her hands to grip the seat to keep herself still. She winced when Tommy trailed his fingertips down her sides and she tried not to let the rush of adrenaline overwhelm her when the heel of his hands pushed into her abdomen. It had been a while since he'd had his training, but Tommy couldn't feel anything abnormal, at least he didn't think he could.
When his hands trailed down to her legs, he winced. That didn't look good.
"Jackson! I need a medic over here."
"Kinda got my hands full with cardiac arrest, Kinard. Give me ten."
That wasn't the response Tommy was hoping for. He needed any medic over here that he could get. He didn't know what he was meant to do. His medical training was rusty. (Y/n) had a major wound in her leg that was bleeding out and Tommy couldn't just wait for her to bleed out on the seat.
"Ah fuck… okay, I'm gonna get some advice-"
"Don't go!" (Y/n) latched her fingers so tightly around Tommy's wrist that she could feel his skin splitting beneath her nails. He couldn't leave her. She had been crying for help since the moment she came back around. Tommy couldn't leave her now when no one else was around or coming to her aid.
His left hand moved to clamp around hers and it was a strange yet thrilling feeling to have his hand engulf hers. His fingers squeezed around hers and his palm was warm yet slightly calloused as he dragged his thumb across the side of her hand.
"Look at me." His hand moved up until his fingers were beneath her chin and she had no choice but to look down at him. "I'm not going anywhere, I promise. But I need to call someone so I know how best to help you. And Eddie is the best medic I know."
He wasn't about to walk away from her, Tommy would never do that. (Y/n) needed him and she needed help, he was going to make sure he helped her. But Tommy needed someone to walk him through this and tell him what to do, and Eddie was one of the best medics in the field.
"Don't tell h-him it's me."
"I won't."
He already knew if he rang Eddie and said (Y/n) had been in an accident Eddie would go into a flustered panic. He would make his way down here and risk a crash himself. He couldn't walk Tommy through this if he knew (Y/n) was the one who was injured and needed treatment.
Tommy let (Y/n) keep a tight grip on his right hand while he fumbled around in his pocket for his phone.
"Eddie. Eddie, I've got a situation. We're on a call but I've got no medics around and I need to get my patient ready to transport. Can you walk me through it?"
"Fuck, I… I suppose so. What's the injuries?"
He muttered a quiet 'Brilliant' to himself and set his phone on speaker in the footwell. When his eyes dragged up to lock on (Y/n), she tried to smile down at him and let go of his hand so he could help her.
"Okay, patient is trapped in her car, the bonnet's crushed down on her right leg and she's bleeding out… she's got a cut just below her knee." His eyes darted back up to (Y/n) just as his hands reached out to hold her knee.
Her fingers latched around his broad shoulder and she pushed back straighter in her seat. He didn't say anything. If (Y/n) needed to hold onto something, Tommy was more than happy for her to hold him for a while.
"Is the blood spurting out or is it slow?"
"I'd say slow, that's good?"
"That's a vein so yeah that's good. You need a turniquet, tie it two inches above the cut and do it tight to stop the bloodloss. If there's any metal or anything in the leg, leave it for the doctors to remove."
"Give me a minute."
Tommy rattled through the medic bag on the floor until he found a blue, plastic strap. He reached across and put the phone on mute so he could look up at (Y/n). "Try and stay still for me." His touch was light as he slid the strap beneath (Y/n)'s thigh and pulled it tight. He could feel her trying hard to stay still but her fingers tightened on his shoulder when Tommy popped the pin through the band.
The blue plastic sank deeply into (Y/n)'s thigh like an elastic band and he worried for a moment that it was going to cut her leg in two. But when he looked down and realised the trickling blood flow had started to taper off, he sighed in relief.
"Alright, that's done."
"How's their heartbeat and blood pressure? If BP is rising the turniquet hasn't worked." This was the first time Eddie had had to help someone over the phone like this. It was strange, but it was a new thing to add to his resume and he was glad to help out a friend when he could.
(Y/n) flopped her head to the right to look at Tommy and she let go of his shoulder so he could slide the blood pressure cuff up her arm so it was settled just below her shoulder. The tightening band made her eyes roll to the back of her head and she could feel her head filling up with air.
But her lips parted and a jolt of electricity ran through her nerves when a finger pressed beneath her jaw and she felt Tommy's thumb digging into her chin. He turned her head from side to side and when she managed to focus her eyes on him, (Y/n) had to take a deep breath.
He had moved closer.
He was no longer crouching beside the bed. He was stood up with his knees bent forward and his body hovering over hers.
Tommy's frame looked a little too tall to fit into the car and the back of his shoulders were slammed up against the roof of his car. But it was his face hovering mere inches away from hers that made (Y/n) gasp and feel like she was going to faint.
"Eyes on me."
His words and that tone of voice were so stern that (Y/n) accidentally mumbled "Yes sir," and she wasn't sure if Tommy knew she was joking or not.
The quirk of his brow and the slight smirk on his lips sent her heart racing.
He clicked the mute button off the phone again and slid the cuff down (Y/n)'s arm. "No, BP's starting to reduce now, it's working."
"Good. Heartbeat?"
Tommy swiped his thumb across (Y/n)'s chin so delicately it clearly made her shiver before he pulled away so he could put the stethoscope in his ears. He leaned down a little closer and slid the metal beneath her shirt near her sternum.
He couldn't help but arch a brow when he looked down at (Y/n). Her heart was racing.
Their eyes locked for a few seconds and (Y/n) could see the panic swirling in Tommy's eyes. Surely this wasn't normal. Her heart was worse than a drummer crashing out a beat. If it went any faster Tommy wouldn't be able to differentiate between the beats.
"Nerves." (Y/n) whispered but she realised she was so close that Tommy could probably taste her words in the air.
"What's making you nervous, your injuries… or me?" He couldn't refrain from asking. It wasn't strictly professional but he needed to know whether he had to unmute the phone and ask Eddie what injury could be causing her heart to skyrocket like this. Unless he was the reason (Y/n) was nervous, that meant it wasn't an injury and therefore Tommy didn't have to panic.
Her eyes darted down to his lips that were flushed and parted enough for (Y/n) to see the way his tongue was pushing up against his teeth. While he waited patiently for an answer.
"You."
He didn't seem to have an answer for that. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to say or what he should do. He couldn't walk away and leave her and everyone else was busy so he couldn't swap. Tommy doubted (Y/n) would let him walk away from her now. He wouldn't allow himself to, either.
(Y/n) watched the way he tilted his head down to clear his throat and she held her breath to stay silent when she watched him unmute his phone.
"Heartbeat is a little high, but nothing worrying." His lips curled into something soft which was a mixture of a smile and a smirk.
"Good. You'll just need to check for any spinal or nerve damage to find the best way to get the patient out."
Upon hearing her brother's words, (Y/n) clicked her head from side to side and shimmied in her seat. She could move. She could feel and move her hands, she had already proven that. She had control over her chest and torso and she could wiggle one of her feet; although she couldn't feel her right foot from the constricted blood flow. But that was expected.
It felt strange and somehow thrilling to feel Tommy's hands glide down her shoulders, along her arms and press down on her chest.
He felt her push back in her seat when he touched the left side of her chest and he bit his lip, silently apologising with his eyes.
He tried to be careful and keep his touch light as he moved his fingertips down. She had broken one or two ribs, but she had no damage to her pelvis which was a big relief. He could get her out of here easily. He didn't have to wait for help and struggle to ease (Y/n) onto a backboard for any spinal injuries.
When Tommy's hands moved down to check her legs and try to carefully ease them out the car, (Y/n) braced her hands on the bottom of her chair.
Her chest didn't feel right.
She tried to suck in a deep breath and hold it for as long as she could, but a tightening, pinching pain in the left side of her chest made her wince. Deep breaths weren't an option.
She switched to shallow pants that she hoped Tommy wouldn't notice. She was probably feeling a broken rib moving out of place or had a torn muscle that was causing her some discomfort. Her lips pulled into a thin line and she moved her right hand to cradle the left side of her chest while her other hand gripped Tommy's arm when he reached out for her.
(Y/n) tried to focus on the feeling of Tommy's hands on her hips and the way he spun her carefully on the chair so her legs were now hanging out the car and she was facing him.
"Okay?" His voice was nothing more than a murmur in (Y/n)'s ear while his hands held her thighs and he leaned over her. He didn't want to speak too loudly and grab Eddie's attention. He only had Eddie on the line still because he wanted to move (Y/n) and make sure she was truly okay before he thanked Eddie and let him get back to his evening.
His head tilted to one side and (Y/n) knew if she lifted her head at just the right angle, their noses would brush and she would most certainly be touching his lips.
But she couldn't lift her head. All she could do was deadlock her fingers around Tommy's wrist and shake her head.
She couldn't breathe.
"What's wrong?"
Tommy pushed his hands to gently part (Y/n)'s knees to the sides so he could crouch between them. He felt her knees touching his chest and he tried to stay balanced on the heel of his boots. His head tilted back at an angle and his eyes focused solely on (Y/n)'s eyes which were beginning to water.
The tender look on Tommy's face washed away like footprints on the sand when he realised (Y/n) wasn't breathing properly.
He watched her lips part into a look of panic but she was barely pulling in any air and she wasn't exactly breathing out, either. She was wheezing. Her right hand pressed harder into her chest but it only made her cringe and she gave a sharp tug on Tommy's wrist to move his hand near her chest.
Tears began to roll down her cheeks and her wide eyes followed Tommy's movements as he pushed up on his toes so they were level.
"Eddie, she's not breathing!" Tommy tilted his head to the right and rose his voice so Eddie could hear him clearly through the phone.
"At all?"
"She's wheezing and holding the left side of her chest… she was breathing fine a minute ago." Well, Tommy wasn't actually sure whether (Y/n) had been breathing 'fine' but she had certainly had no problems a couple of minutes ago. He thought she was taking quick, shallow breaths because she was panicking. Not because something else was wrong.
(Y/n) snapped her eyes closed as a strangled, hoarse sound tore past her lips. She couldn't breathe. She felt like she was drowning. Why was it so hard to take in a proper breath? What had she done?
"Check her airways for any obstructions." Eddie's response somehow made a shiver crawl down Tommy's spine.
His hands moved to cup (Y/n)'s chin and he tilted her head back while he pressed over her throat and looked in her mouth. Nothing was blocking her airways. They were clear but she was gasping like she was being smothered.
"Eddie, it- it's like she's drowning."
Unease rattled through Tommy's veins as he spoke. (Y/n) was gasping like he was holding her underwater and she was starting to drown. If Eddie didn't tell Tommy what to do soon, she wasn't going to be breathing at all. He couldn't do nothing and watch her starve of oxygen.
He could hear a crackling sound through the phone but Tommy couldn't take his eyes off (Y/n). His hand stayed on the side of her neck while his other hand moved down to try and touch her chest to see what was going on. But he couldn't feel her chest deflating properly; it was like she was a balloon, but Tommy couldn't tell whether she had too much air in her chest or not enough.
"Get the stethoscope and listen to her lungs. If she's got fluid in them it will sound like water sloshing around. If you don't hear anything like that and no static, then she's breathing into her chest cavity."
(Y/n) closed her eyes and tucked her chin into her chest when Tommy let go of her neck. She moved both hands to grip his shoulders and held tight, waiting for him to make the next move.
It was almost a relief that she couldn't breathe when he pressed his chest up near hers and leaned over her shoulder so he could look at her back. She could feel the stethoscope against her back and she could smell Tommy's cologne wafting through her nose, distracting her from her current torment.
"No sloshing or static noises. Eddie I've never treated someone for this before-"
"If you don't move fast she'll pass out and be starved of oxygen. Get her laid flat, find a scalpel and an open-ended needle, the needle should be green."
It felt as if Eddie was stood right over his shoulder, looking through the medical bag. He had a picture in his mind of what he needed Tommy to do and look for and it was comforting.
"Hang on."
(Y/n) wasn't sure who Tommy was talking to but she made herself go limp like jelly when Tommy pressed their chests together and bound his arms around her waist. She tried not to focus on the hand that was cupping the back of her thigh and instead felt the hand that was near the base of her neck.
He lifted her from the car with ease and (Y/n) was shocked with how swift yet tenderly Tommy moved her. It felt like he was laying her down on a soft mattress rather than the hard concrete road.
She batted her hand out until she clenched her fingers around his thigh and she was too panicked to feel embarrassed. (Y/n) needed something to focus on, to ground her and control her panic. And Tommy didn't seem to mind.
He snapped on a pair of gloves, found the scalpel and what he guessed was the right needle. It was a needle for letting air and fluids escape the body, not one with a syringe for injecting anything. And Tommy already knew what he was going to have to do, no matter how hard this was going to be or how badly it was going to make him cringe.
He didn't have time to overthink.
"Walk me through this, Eddie."
He placed the phone next to his leg so he could have Eddie's voice right in his ear. And he sank back on his heels while (Y/n)'s fingers started shaking and tapping against his upper thigh like she was letting him know she was still conscious and believed in him.
"You wanna be doing this on the side of her chest level with her arms, not the top." Eddie wanted to rush through this and reel all the information off but he knew he had to go slow. He had to wait for Tommy to follow his instructions one by one, he had to walk him through this not throw everything at him and wait.
A very quiet "Excuse me," passed Tommy's lips and he saw the way (Y/n)'s arms tensed and stiffened at her sides when he rolled up her shirt. He tucked it beneath her armpits which exposed her bra and cleavage to his eyes, but his focus was clearly elsewhere.
"Alright…"
"Find the fifth and sixth ribs and press down on them, the needle needs to go right between the ribs into the chest cavity. As soon as it's in, open the cap and let the air out."
If this were any other situation, (Y/n) would have jumped or felt ticklish when Tommy started pressing the pad of his finger down on her chest, counting the ribs until he found the right ones. He pressed his fingers down until they touched the bone and a bump of flesh pressed out between his fingers.
"Just push it straight in?"
"Yep, about two inches."
Tommy winced and sank his teeth down on his lower lip when (Y/n)'s nails cut through his trousers and sank into his flesh. She clawed desperately at him to try and stay still and tears streamed down her face as she dug her head back into the floor. If she could, she would of arched her back off the floor and screamed. But all she could manage was the gasping sound of her throat muscles rubbing together.
As soon as he got the needle in, Tommy unclipped the green cap and listened to the fizzling sound of air disippating from the needle.
Eddie was right. That had been the problem.
He could see the weight lifting from (Y/n)'s shoulders and her throat tensed as she sucked in a deep breath which made her eyes roll to the back of her head. When he was sure her chest was clear, Tommy clipped the needle again and sank back on his heels with a huff.
He studied her chest, the way it sank down like a weight pressing on her before rising with such deep breaths he was surprised her lungs didn't pop. But she was breathing. She wasn't gasping, she wasn't wheezing or drowning. She was back to taking in proper air.
Before he could stop himself, Tommy brushed his thumb over her chin until he was touching her lips.
"Breathe." His voice was so quiet, so gritty yet soothing and lulling that (Y/n) found herself taking more even, deep breaths without realising. Her chest stopped panting and heaving and aching like her ribs were about to snap. Her breaths became softer and her eyes focused on Tommy's own lips that he darted his tongue across. It was as if he was coaxing himself to breathe deeper as well, not just her.
"Have you done it?"
Eddie's voice cut through the air and as quick as anything, Tommy dropped his hand and turned his head towards the phone at his side.
"Yeah, yeah… she's breathing. Thank you, Eddie." Tommy wiped his sleeve against his temple before he reached down for his phone and clicked it off speaker.
This was the part he had been dreading. This was where he was going to have to tell Eddie that it was in fact his sister who he had just helped save. And that he needed to meet them down at the hospital. Tommy knew Eddie wouldn't be pleased. He would be infuriated he hadn't been told earlier, but Tommy had to have Eddie help him with a clear head instead of one clouded with panic.
"Well, that was a first for me,"
"Eddie, listen… you're gonna want to meet me down at the emergency room. The girl I just got out the car, it's (Y/n)."
(Y/n) wasn't sure what curse words flew past her brother's lips, but she recognised the odd Spanish cursive. And she could see from the way Tommy winced that Eddie wasn't happy. But when she watched Tommy hum, mutter a quiet goodbye and hang up, she was relieved when he smiled down at her. That hadn't gone as badly as she thought it would.
She realised she was still gripping his leg and quickly let go but before she could stop herself, she clamped her trembling hand around Tommy's wrist. She squeezed as much as she could while she tried to get her lungs to keep working and find her voice.
"T-thank you. That's twice, y-you've saved me."
A tender smile formed on his lips and (Y/n) noticed the way his nose scrunched up when he properly smiled like that. She liked it.
She liked it even more when he curled his free hand over her wrist and brought her hand up to his chest. She could feel his erratic heartbeat through his chest, it was almost at the same frantic rhythm as hers. When Tommy leaned his head down and kissed the back of her hand, (Y/n) felt like she was floating.
"How about, instead of me saving you again, you let me take you on a date instead?"
***
"It's for you."
A grin spread across (Y/n)'s lips and she nodded over at Carla who was stood with raised brows, practically jumping up and down behind the front door she was holding open.
"Be good, wish me luck." She pressed a kiss to the top of Chris's head and gave him a hug before she hobbled across to the door.
With her being signed off work for a few weeks, it made (Y/n) the ideal person to look after Chris after school while Eddie was on shift. She had mostly been staying over with Eddie and Chris for the last week since her accident. It was better because (Y/n) didn't have to climb any stairs here like she did in her apartment building. And it meant Eddie could keep an eye on her.
She looked over her outfit one more time until Carla gave her a thumbs up and squeezed her shoulder.
She made sure to shut the front door behind her just so Carla and Chris couldn't try and be nosy before she let her eyes drag up and down her date.
Tommy was stood on the path just below the doorstep, hands casually tucked into the pockets of his slate grey jeans. His shoulders were slightly hunched up making his biceps tense and it made his frame look even bigger if that were possible, casting a large shadow across the path behind him.
He wore a jet back button up shirt with the collar and the first few buttons undone, exposing his chest and the top of his collarbone to (Y/n)'s prying eyes. But it was his smile that enamoured her. The way his lips quirked up to the right in a slanted grin and the tip of his nose scrunched up and caused his eyes to crease.
"Hi,"
"Hey, you look lovely."
Tommy let his gaze fall down to do another once-over when (Y/n) looked down with a bashful smile.
Her dress was a dark shade of strawberry, with a sweetheart neckline and a band of dark rouge ribbon around the waist. It fanned out around her thighs and stopped an inch short of her knees.
He let his eyes fall on her legs for a second, then another, then another. She wasn't wearing tights. It allowed Tommy a perfect view of the row of stitches that slanted along her right leg and disappeared behind the support she was wearing over her knee.
It was a familiar sight. Tommy had seen Evan wearing a similar brace when they went to play basketball each week. He knew from what Eddie had told him that (Y/n)'s knee had taken a bashing in the car, it hadn't been bruised or dislocated but it caused some pain. And with her vein needing to be joined back up, (Y/n) couldn't even her weight out, she was limping and using her left leg rather than her right.
And when Tommy glanced down, his smile widened. She was wearing black and white Converse. Not the typical footwear expected to match her outfit, but again, he could understand why. She could hardly walk properly as it was, heels or flats weren't exactly helpful right now.
Unless (Y/n) wore her Converse in case of a quick getaway tonight.
"I'm a little mismatched tonight." (Y/n) kept her voice soft and quiet as she brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear and took a step closer to Tommy.
"I like it."
His eyes followed her as she leaned around him and realised he had driven here. That meant he wasn't drinking tonight. (Y/n) didn't want him to think he couldn't drink just because she couldn't at the moment.
"No chopper?" Her words surprised him but the laugh he let out made (Y/n)'s heart flutter and she couldn't help but grin.
"And risk you throwing a blood clot, no thank you. I'll save the flying lessons for our next date."
When Tommy held out his left elbow towards her, (Y/n) hooked her hand through his elbow and she couldn't refrain from leaning her head on his arm. She tried to even her weight out between her legs and ignore the pins and needles that felt like sharp scratches cutting up the back of her knee. She had refused crutches from the hospital and made a point of walking up and down the hospital stairs so they wouldn't have cause for keeping her under observation.
She was determined to get back to work as soon as possible, and to make an effort on this date tonight. (Y/n) didn't want to catch her foot in the seatbelt or trip on the curb or lose her balance and crash into something.
The only fall she wanted to make was her heart falling for man on her arm.
But she could tell Tommy was more than happy for her to lean on him. He would take her weight for her if she needed to, all she had to do was slump against him or lean on his arm and he would help her. She wouldn't have to ask.
Her lips curved into a softer smile when he leaned in front of her to open the car door. She was suddenly glad he drove a car and not a jeep like Eddie and Evan. (Y/n) was sick of clambering up into the jeep and sliding down with how high up they were. God only knows what she would be like with the fire truck once she went back to work.
She watched Tommy motion his free hand towards the car, clearly waiting for her to unhook herself from his arm and climb in. But she didn't.
Instead, (Y/n) turned so she was standing in front of Tommy, her heels teetering dangerously on the edge of the curb.
She could see the confusion in Tommy's eyes as he tilted his head to one side, wondering why she was now stood in front of him instead of getting in the car. He didn't move or make a sound, he just watched her with intrigue pooling in his eyes as (Y/n) danced her hands up his chest until she was holding onto his shoulders.
He wasn't quite sure what she was up to but he rolled along with it, curving his left arm around her waist so their chests were pinned together. He wasn't about to let her stumble off the curb and fall into the car.
She took him by surprise. (Y/n) pushed up on her tiptoes, using Tommy's shoulders as leverage so she could take a leap and kiss him. She could taste coffee on his lips and the familiar smell of his cologne flooded her nose and made her feel lightheaded.
But it was the feeling of his palm pressing firmer against her back between her hips that made her breathing hitch. And how he pressed down on her to pin her tighter into his hard chest that froze beneath her touch. She felt his tongue swipe across her lip and when his free hand grazed along her chin and up her jaw, (Y/n)'s knees almost gave way.
Spots danced in front of her eyes when they finally parted, but she watched him intently. Focusing on how his nose brushed against hers and how his lips parted into a breathless grin and his chest puffed out against hers.
And she waited, feeling his hand glide across her jaw until he was gently cupping her chin and his thumb swiped across her lower lip.
"Breathe."

Transfixed green eyes are glued to the TV screen as Victoria Neuman gives yet another speech on another stage in another state on V-SPAN, yapping about some fucking policies Ben doesn’t give two shits about. He also could give less fucks about the president in general, his gaze focused on a young, beautiful woman standing by Neuman’s right side.
Yeah, he’s only enduring that shit show for her.
Y/N’s tight black pencil skirt makes his cock ache. It ends a few too many inches above the knees, too short for a Chief of Staff. Ben knows she’s only wearing it for him. It’s part of the sick game they’ve been playing.
That little piece of clothing could ride up any second and reveal her glistening pussy underneath to a whole audience, flashing conservatives and liberals alike. Ben has told her not to wear panties, and because she’s a good fucking girl, she has obliged his wishes. Y/N’s the best fucking wife, after all.
His eyes then flicker to the door down the hallway as he sits comfortably on the couch with a beer bottle in hand. It’s still shut tightly, the kid fast asleep. With the air clear, Ben’s hand slips into his sweatpants and palms his semi, jerking his fist up and down his hardening length.
He shuts his eyes for a heartbeat, imagining what her tight and soaked cunt feels like wrapped around him. Fuck, he misses her so goddamn much. He hates being alone, even though he’s not. He’s still got the kid, so it all trickles down to him fucking hating being without her.
There’s no cure for Y/N, and there’s no replacement for her, either.
Ben sets the beer down on the coffee table and frees his dick fully, shuffling the gray sweats down to his ankles. When Neuman finishes the last leg of her speech, he watches as Y/N eagerly begins to chew on her bottom lip, almost gnawing the goddamn thing bloody. She’s as fucking giddy as he is.
As soon as the president and her entourage leave the stage, Ben grabs his phone and opens her contact. His thumb brushes the little blue button with the camera symbol, his ears waiting to hear her sweet and sultry voice again as it dials.
Her bright smile is the first thing he sees. His heart beats so fast the friction causes a fire and melts the broken thing into a puddle. He can feel the heat in his cheeks as they involuntarily rise with a smile he can’t muzzle.
“Fuck, I’m so hard, baby girl,” he says and squeezes the throbbing cock in his fist.
Y/N laughs, shaking her head. “Hello, husband. I’m good, thank you for asking. How are you?”
“Like I said, fucking hard,” he reiterates, his deep voice raspy, impatient, and hungry. He rolls his green eyes. “C’mon, you really wanna chitchat about small talk? I know you’re fucking dripping for my cock under that tight little skirt.”
Y/N’s eyes widen scoldingly, but the flush of red in her cheeks makes him chuckle. “Ben! I’m still in the elevator. At least let me get to my hotel room first.”
“Perfect.” Ben smirks broadly, a mischievous glint in his forest green orbs. “Just push the red ‘Stop’ button and lemme rail that cunt there.”
“Charming as always,” another voice chimes.
“I’m not alone, you idiot,” Y/N informs him, giggling, and swings the camera till Victoria’s bitchy grin of amusement comes into view.
Ben rolls his eyes in open and shameless annoyance, scoffing. “Ugh, of course, that bull dyke’s with you…”
Victoria only smirks at his insult with crossed arms. “Unlike you, that never gets old, coot. How are those adult diapers suiting you?”
“You fucking hippie cuntzilla,” Ben grits angrily, his brow scrunching so much he’s close to a rage headache. “You couldn’t fucking handle all of me.”
“Trust me, I don’t want to,” Victoria huffs mockingly. “You know what they say – once the body goes, the mind follows, you dried-up dinosaur.”
“You fucking–”
“Okay, alright! Stop it you two. Enough with the insults,” Y/N steps in and pans the camera away from Neuman’s winning smirk and back to her. She sighs. “That’s my floor. We’re almost there.”
Ben still boils with fury, especially when he hears the two women exchange a few bullet points about a staff meeting before bidding their goodbyes. But by the time Y/N unlocks the door to her room, he’s simmered down enough and stroked his cock back to its full glory.
Y/N sets up her phone on her dresser, the lens focused on her as she takes a step back. A naughty smile curves her lips as she licks them and plays with the buttons on her blouse.
“Ready?” she asks and waits for him to switch the camera around.
Ben chuckles and aims the lens on his dick, standing proud and tall. “Look for yourself, baby girl.”
Y/N bites her lip at the sight of his cock – so fucking thick, long, and swollen. “Fuck, I’d kill to have you inside of me right now,” she coos and pops open the buttons of her blouse, one by one. Soon, the white silk material slips off her shoulders and leaves her standing in an all too-innocent white bra, her tits perfectly framed by delicate lace. Her hands then wander behind her back and unhook it, freeing two full breasts. She massages and gropes them, rolling her pert nipples between her fingers as she moans.
“Shit, you know that fucking turns me on when you talk like that,” Ben grunts, pumping his cock harder as it swells in his hand. “Show me that tight pussy of yours. Need to see it before I fucking come. Bet it’s real wet, huh?”
“Fucking drenched,” Y/N croons and opens the back zipper of her skirt. “Can feel it fucking run down my thighs. Thought all day about you. I didn’t wear any panties like I promised you.”
“Such a fucking good girl,” Ben praises her with a smirk on his lips. “Where’s that fucking feminism of yours now, huh?” he teases, chuckling. “Fuck, I wanna feel that slick on my fingers and lick it clean off.”
“This one, asshole?” Y/N giggles as her hand delves into her skirt and runs through her soaked folds. She pulls out her glistening fingers and sucks them into her mouth, tasting her own sweet arousal.
“Fucking shit…” Ben hisses, his cock twitching needily in his hand. All he wants is to eat her out and sink into her. “Pull that fucking thing off right now and get on the bed. Ass first,” he orders.
Y/N does as he says, the skirt falling down her smooth legs and revealing her bare pussy to him. She spins around and climbs on the mattress on all fours, wiggling her ass high in the air. She smirks over her shoulder at the camera when she hears his wanton growl before she lays down on her back and spreads her legs wide, her pink and wet cunt in full view.
“Fuck, look at you, baby. So fucking perfect. I’d love to fuck you stupid till you’re a drooling mess, you little cockslut,” Ben says and can feel himself riding closer to the edge. “Touch yourself for me. Flick that little clit till you tremble and scream for me to fill you.”
Y/N’s hand dives between her thighs, two fingers rubbing circles on her sensitive flesh. She mewls and whimpers with every touch. “Fuck, can I put a finger inside me?”
“Shit, yeah,” Ben groans enthusiastically. “Try three. Stuff ‘em in there. Real deep. Come for me, baby. Wanna see that pretty face you make.”
“Fuck, Ben! I need you… I want you… So bad… Want your cock to fuck me… Please… I miss you…” Y/N moans and cries as she works herself into a frenzy. The familiar tug in her belly threatens to implode with each stroke.
Ben’s already a goner when those last words reach him, fisting his cock so hard he’s glad he doesn’t have superpowers anymore. He might’ve broken it for good otherwise. Precum leaks from his red and swollen tip, slicking his aching dick with each jerk of his hand. He’d give anything to feel her mouth and ample lips around his length, but the memory of it suffices to make him explode for now.
Swiftly, he grabs a few tissues from the box next to him and blows his load inside of them while Y/N’s blissful screams fill his ears as her climax tears through her. A few more slow and lazy strokes milk the rest of his dick before his shoulders deflate, and Ben relaxes back into the comfort of the soft couch cushions.
Pantingly, they lie in silence for a minute and let their speeding hearts find calm again. Y/N then props up from the bed and saunters to the dresser to grab her phone before she plops back down on the mattress. She frames the camera on her face and smiles at him, her cheeks flushed with an afterglow.
Ben smiles, too, although there’s a twinge in his stomach and a pinch in his heart. He’s grown to love the perks of technology and the twenty-first century. If he couldn’t see her on that little screen in his hand every night, he would’ve gone mad a while ago.
But everything else still sucks. The fact he can’t touch her, hold her, and love her the way he wants to fucking sucks.
“You okay there, stud?” Y/N checks, even though the truth is written clear as day on his freckle-dusted face. She feels it, too – that sickening, torturous, and undeniable pull towards him. All she wants is to rest her head on his broad chest and beating heart with his strong arms wrapped around her, holding her so tight she can barely fill her lungs with air.
Ben’s tongue swipes over his chapped lips for a moment. He’s not someone who shares his emotions easily, and it’s only gotten harder for him without her near. But it’s too fucking much, and there’s no end in sight.
“No,” he admits with a tormented swallow. “It’s not fucking okay. I fucking miss you. You’re my goddamn wife. You’re supposed to be here, Y/N.”
“I know.” Y/N exhales a sympathetic sigh and tries her best to be there for him, even though she’s exhausted after an 80-hour work week. “I miss you, too. And the kid. So much. It’s not always gonna be this way. You know I can’t come home. I don’t wanna hurt anyone, least of all you.”
“I don’t fucking care anymore. It’s been six months. We’ll figure it out. Just come home, my love,” he all but begs in the four walls of his quiet house. For Y/N, he’d even go down on his knees. He just wants her here. He doesn’t care what it costs him, virility included.
“Ben…” Y/N bites her lip, her eyes pleading. “I’m making a difference here. I’m actually doing something good.”
“Fuck that! Fuck all of that shit, Y/N!” Ben yells and strains himself to lower his voice, not wanting to wake the boy. “I fucking love you. I’m sick and tired of those games. How many fucking times do I have to tell you that I miss you, huh? I don’t wanna do this anymore. I don’t wanna call you and hope you have time to pick up. I don’t wanna text you and wait hours for a fucking answer. I don’t wanna fuck you through a dumbass screen. I miss you. I miss my wife. I miss actual goddamn sex, for fuck’s sake!”
Y/N holds back the brimming tears in her eyes, her longing heart agreeing with his words. “I know. I miss all of that, too. Maybe it’s time. Maybe we should finally talk about it.”
Ben’s brow furrows. He doesn’t like the tone in her voice and the look on her face that’s full of heartbreak. “Talk about what?”
“Divorce.”

I know, I know... "Wayne, why are you being so cruel, mean, and evil to us?" But I promise you those two will figure their shit out eventually. They've been through too much to let go now 💚
But man, do I love writing some Neuman/Ben banter. I wish they had actual screen time on the show. I feel like it would've been fucking hilarious 😂
This is not the end. Those two idiots will be back 😘

the lightning had taken care of the other fires in buck. he was different, and he couldn’t tell if he hated it or loved it at first.
the man he was was reckless and like a shiny new toy for someone to play with. he allowed people to string him along and pull at his arms until he did what they wanted. it almost felt like his purpose, to be a prop for everyone else.
he thought y/n would leave him soon after the strike. everyone else liked to do the same thing. his parents giving up on him after his youthful mistakes, abby fleeing because he wasn’t enough for her, aly fearing her future with him. he thought y/n would crack under the pressure of almost losing someone like buck, now he hates himself for second guessing her.
he started to appreciate the smallest things in his girlfriend. the softness of her words, the light reflection of sun in her eyes, the cotton-like skin on her hands as they grazed over it. he almost didn’t want to face her after the accident, but she was clutching onto his hand when he woke up. and, there hasn’t been a day where she hasn’t reminded him that she’s going nowhere.
she knew bucks scars as she watched them all get handed to him. she knew how silently fragile he was. he could see it clearly in her as well, noticing each fear of hers and the love she’s pushed away. it was foreign to both of them, the tenderness of each other.
it’s been years since they began dating, and somehow every day is brand new with them. y/n doesn’t ever believe that buck has something to make up. but, he thinks so. he’s been spending years begging for love, and now he has it. now, he wants to show the world what he has after it tried to strip him of everything.
it doesn’t matter how long a shift was, when buck was back to work, every free moment was spent on her heels. he used to go through work, only looking around to see who maybe looked at him. now, he looks forward to see his girl waiting for him wherever he may be.
today was no different, y/n was stocking the engine full of brand new supplies from the new shipment. the trucks glazed red popped out from her perfect polishing on the sides.
“this truck looks almost as good as you,” buck whispers, placing his hand on the side of her waist, making her jump in place.
“and what are you supposed to be doing right now?” she teases back.
“taking it easy, like you and bobby told me!”
“so you come and flirt with your already girlfriend? professional hours baby, remember?”
“those are boring, though. i just want to take you home and never leave.” he sighs, placing his chin on her head.
“just a few more hours, i believe in you!” she encourages, making him smirk and land his lips on her cheek, running away like a little kid.
y/n stood with buck at the island of the kitchen, smelling over bobby’s new dishes that he had prepared for the team. he made several things for a feast amongst everyone, getting a well deserved break.
she could practically feel buck breathing on her neck as he peered over her shoulder. normally, someone doing that would be insufferable, but buck makes it seem normal. it makes her smile, knowing how close he always wishes to be.
“if i didn’t know any better i’d think you were conjoined twins.” chimney takes a turn at his own joke, trying not to laugh at himself. he gets a smile from y/n, but the fakest look you ever did see from buck.
“i’m gonna slap you and i hope it shocks you.” buck snaps back, half joking but also half annoyed as well. chimney takes his plate and scurries away.
buck makes two plates as y/n grabs them drinks from the fridge, moving over to place it in the seat next to her. before she can even think about sitting, buck slightly runs into her with his hip. he places the plates down perfectly on the mats before pulling her chair out. she gazes at him, noticing the cheesy grin on his lips. the team stops to notice his abruptness on pulling out her chair, and kissing her head as she sits.
as the dinner closes, and the sun dips lower, the calls come in slower. luckily, the shift is just ending, so it’s just buck and y/n left in the kitchen as she scrubs away at a bowl. he sneaks up behind her, grabbing a dish to dry from her.
“hi, honey,” he says, looking down at her.
“hi, buck,” she smiles back, noticing the excitement on his face just getting to be near her. “do you wanna talk?”
“about what?”
“i just want to make sure you’re okay, baby,” her kindness and concern comes through her angelic voice, buck almost getting distracted by the sound of her.
“i’m fine!” he replies. “just been thinkin’”
“we can talk about it if you’d like.”
“maybe later, i just can’t wait for us to go home together.” he dries the plate as y/n scoops them all up, buck wrapping his arms around her waist and tucking his face into her neck. he locks his fingers together and rests them on her belly. she just giggles, waddling over to the cabinet where she slides the dishes in. it would’ve been easier if she wasn’t like a tree to a sloth, but easier isn’t always for the best.
the car ride home in his truck was nothing less than romantic. his hand was rested on her thighs the whole time if it wasn’t on the gear shift or the wheel. she practically had to keep touching him somehow to make him keep his eyes on the road.
when the duo finally arrived at home, she looked over at buck and could tell how sleepy he was. his eyes told her everything, and she can read him like a book now that she’s admired him for so long. “hey, go shower and come back down here.”
buck agrees, taking a quick shower and changing into some more comfortable clothes. when he walks back down the stairs, he can smell the sweetener of his favorite tea wafting through the living room, as y/n sits down in her soft sweater and places the mugs on the couch. they’re matching LAFD mugs that y/n’s parents bought for them. she turned on reruns of new girl as she moved to grab a blanket from the basket, leaning against the arm of the couch.
“come on,” she sweetly curls his lips up at him, signaling for him to come lay with her. he happily obliges, going to sit between her legs on his side, the side of his face buried into y/n’s warm chest.
the tightness of her arms wrapped around him eases any weight of the day or stress on his body. he lets himself relax in her hold, knowing she’ll keep him safe from whatever might come his way next.
one of her arms is rubbing his back as the other cups his face as he appears to be intently watching the show, but he’s not.
he thinks of small y/n and buck mixes running around a small house in los angeles, the sun shining through the curtains early in the morning. he thinks of the smell of ice cream and the reflection of the moon on the windows as they get ready for bed. he thinks of a warm vacation with a shining rock on her ring finger.
“i can’t wait to see you in a big, white dress,” he mumbles into her shirt, smiling just at the thought of seeing her on a carpet, walking down an isle to greet him.
“what is going on in that mind of yours?” she teases, brushing her fingers through his hair.
“i just- i don’t want anyone else but you,” he begins. “you could’ve ran. you could’ve left me in the dark, but you didn’t. you’re the only person who hasn’t done that to me. i trust you, and i know you won’t. it’s my turn to show you that i’m here to stay, and that we’re forever.”
“listen,” she starts next, the clear adoration in her eyes. “i would lay on this couch, all day, every day, if it meant you’d come back to me. id do anything, and literally anything, to spend the rest of my life with you. im sorry for every other woman who can’t be with a man like you.”
he doesn’t know how to compete with sentences like that. it feels brand new, even though she tells him all the time. it feels different after the lightning strike. someone above tried so hard to ruin the best things he had going on, but he pulled through. he wants to think he’s strong on his own, but buck knows he wouldn’t be here if y/n wasn’t next to him. if she hasn’t picked up the pieces that everyone left behind, if she hadn’t taken the time to put him back together.
now, buck barely thinks of all the shit that’s happened to him. how could he, when the future is definite right in front of him? he used to just assume his life would be the same forever, but y/n’s flashlight guided him out of the cave he was in. he sleeps in her arms without a fear that she’ll disappear from him, and without a fear that things are out for him.

hii, I love how you write and I wanted to ask If u can make a Eddie Díaz x daughter where reader is sick and eddie has to take care of her, take your time, thanks!
look after you - e.d
Tumblr media
summary: request
eddie diaz x daughter!reader
gif from @eddiediaaz
a/n: thank you for the request and your sweetness, i apologize if it’s a bit short <3
her head was on a boat in the middle of the ocean. her stomach groaned at the thought of anything in her body and it felt like her cells were just attacking itself. it felt like death had risen upon her in her warm bed, trying to distract herself from the dizziness and pain through her body. of course, the kids in high school had no idea how to stop the spread of sickness.
it was just hitting 4 in the morning, way too early to be up and way too early to feel like the devil himself has taken over one’s body. her little brother was asleep in the room over, along with her dad in the other. she hated to wake him up, he worked long hours and it took a toll on him. the hours he had to sleep were important and crucial to his well-being, so she didn’t rouse him despite her illness.
eddie was bound to hear the gagging and groaning coming from the bathroom, only to be met with y/n kneeling over the toilet with her head in her hands. her messy hair was all over her scrunched up face and her body cold from the cool tiles of the bathroom. she was humming lightly to herself with her eyes screwed shut, trying to delay the act of throwing up. she could barely process the door being swung open.
eddie was awake instantly when he heard his sick daughter. few things have the ability to make him wake up with ease, but when he heard the struggling of y/n from the other room, he knew. being a paramedic, he thinks the worst if one of his kids is sick. he knew she didn’t want to be alone, though.
“i didn’t wanna wake you up,” she groans, still not looking at him from the bright lights of the bathroom.
“don’t worry about that, honey,” he says, sitting on the edge of the bathtub to rub her shoulders. “did you eat anything bad or do you think it’s just a bug?”
“i don’t know, but i feel like shit,” she tells her father, knowing what’s about to come from the watering in her mouth and the shakiness in her chin. “dad…”
“i know, you’re ok,” he says, gathering her soft, slightly tangled hair into his hands to help her deal with it. must suck to throw up with long hair in the way. she finally is able to release the contents of her stomach into the bowl, only to lean against the edge and let the tears slip from her eyes.
“i hate this, i hate it so much,” she groans, gagging again over the bowl to throw up again.
“i know,” he whines a bit, despising whenever his little ones are in any pain at all. it’s especially worse when he can’t fix it.
when she’s finally finished, she wipes the corner of her mouth and wearily stands up. he grabs her arm, helping her grab a glass and drink some water before brushing her mouth clean. the exhaustion from just vomiting is clear in her eyes, and he feels even worse. “you wanna get back to bed, baby?”
“yeah,” y/n mumbled before stumbling into the wall.
“alright, i’m not sure about that,” he chuckles a bit, grabbing onto her shoulder to steady her. “c’mon, i’ll go get you some medicine.”
he moves her blankets over and refills her water bottle, going to get anything she might need. more blankets, a fan, extra water and a bowl, various types of pain reliever and fluffing up the pillows on her bed. it might be dramatic, but anything to make her feel better is worth it.
“i’m gonna take off work, i can’t leave you here all alone like this.”
“what?” she asks. “no, you have to go to work, dad. i can’t stop you from that-“
“hey, hey,” he begins. “you’re far more important to me.”
“i’m sorry.”
“for what? being a human? you never, ever have to apologize for something you can’t control. i wouldn’t change taking care of you and chris for the world. i’ll ask tía to take him to school tomorrow and pick some stuff up from CVS. anything you need ever, you tell me and i’ll be there before you can even think.”
“thanks, dad,” y/n’s eyes are tired but loving when she looks up at him. “i love you.”
“i love you to the moon and back, kid, always,” he smiles, leaning over to peck her forehead. “if you need anything, i’ll be on the couch. just let me know.”
“oh, can you make sure tía gets the right gatorade tomorrow? she always gets the bad flavor,” y/n asks, fighting sleep and making a grin rise on eddie’s face.
“i’ll be sure to tell her, hon,” he smiles, patting her hand before leaving her to rest again. there’s nothing or no one in the world that he could love more than his kids.

a/n: you’re absolutely no bother lovely, i apologize that this is so late, but thank you so much for leaving a request nonetheless <3 i hope you enjoy this, this is my inspiration of the song as well!! also let me apologize in the meantime that this is not proofread :)
each time his hand simply brushed up against hers, a whole new level of delusion entered y/n’s mind. it doesn’t matter if they were grabbing the same cup for coffee, or if they were retrieving something from the engine on a call. his rough, but warm fingers lightly feathering her knuckles, but even the slightest touch was ecstasy.
she tries to keep her composure, her job needing her focused at all times, but he made is so damn hard. every time his bright blue beads crossed paths with her own, it formed sparkles of attraction in y/n’s mind.
y/n’s never been one to be distracted, but buck completely started to own her mind. it was like he put her in his own prison, something she couldn’t escape from.
buck could always sense her eyes burning into him, and he silently loved it. he could feel the flames in her eyes and the admiration she had for him. he would be lying if he doesn’t stare back when she doesn’t notice. bucks always been one for a little game, anyway.
the way she parts her hair for work, and how she walks around the station and saunters around the bar with a drink in her hand. her gentle hands could cure anyone, and buck simply just wanted them on him.
they both can feel the aggressive spark that’s threatening to burst between them, but they’re too scared to do anything about it.
buck could always tell on her face when she got flustered by his presence.
he loves it.
if he had to sneak behind her, he’d place a hand on her lower back and brush his chest over her back, the fabric uniforms rubbing together. he can almost feel the halt in her breath as he passes by.
if she was across the table while they were eating, he’d lean back in his chair, giving her the slyest smirk and running his finger over his forearm tattoo. he wishes he could feel the rush of emotions she got from glancing at him.
he payed attention to the little details, the small things that made her heart race. the rolling up the sleeves, fidgeting with his fingers, whispering small things to her that no one else heard.
he did it until she couldn’t take it anymore, until the night where she would finally pounce on him and claim him as hers, compared to the jail she’s in.
the shift had just ended, and it was long. it wasn’t necessarily all the calls they went on, but it was the looks y/n was getting from buck the whole day. it’s so difficult to be a professional when a man like buck is so close to controlling her every move. nonetheless, she still opted to go to the bar with her team. she stopped by her apartment to change first, then driving back over and entering the bar.
she was wearing a new pair of jeans, one that complimented her figure perfectly and a white tank top, along with an LAFD jacket hanging off her shoulder. buck had a white button up on, with a regular pair of pants that still looked hot as ever to y/n. it was like a breath of fresh air, to see him in different clothes.
she moved up to one of the stool, choosing the one next to buck. she ordered a cocktail first, watching buck sip at his glass.
“you must come here a lot,” buck starts.
“you stalking me, buck?” she jokes, accepting the drink from the bartender. he chuckles quickly, looking y/n up and down her body, taking in every beautiful part of her.
they exchanged quick talk for a lot of the night, ordering each others drinks and almost forgetting that their other friends were there. y/n could hardly focus on anything but bucks bright smile, and the way his tongue swiped along the back of his teeth when she teased him. it made her want to scream.
it made her want to pull her hair out in the best way when his fingers ran through his hair, and he watched her internally fall apart. all because of him.
soon enough, the drunkenness had taken over their minds a bit, and buck noticed the lust in her eyes as she leaned into her hand to gaze at him.
“like what you see?” he asks, not peeling his eyes away from hers.
“why are we still playing this game?” y/n wonders, giving buck a quick moment of confusion before completely understanding. he wants to hear it though, and he’s determined to hear it.
“and what game is that?”
“buck, come on,” she sighs. “don’t be an idiot now.”
“i’m not an idiot, sweetheart,” he smirks. “i just want to hear you admit that you want me.”
she laughs quickly, turning her head away from him and then groaning into the air. “i can’t possible boost your ego any more.”
“tell me, y/n,” he scoots himself closer, one of her thighs in between his as he inches himself toward her. before he can think to move again, she grabs his bicep, pulling him toward the back of the bar.
once they’re in the single bathroom, she clicks the lock behind her and shoves him against the door. when he turns back to look in her eyes, her heels are off the ground and her hands are on the side of his face.
her soft, sweet-tasting lips touch bucks for the first time, taking in the taste of her lip gloss and the smell of the liquor on her tongue. he moves his own hands down to her sides, pressing his fingers into her skin. she groans a bit into his touch, but she only craves for more connection from him.
she only pulls away for a quick breath, only to rush back for more and feel his arms wrapped around her again. the light chattering of the people in the bar became inaudible, the only two people in the world at that moment were buck and y/n. despite their tipsy selves, the kiss between them blurred anything in their mind. they both only wanted more, never wanting to leave a moment like this behind.
“does that tell you what you want to hear so bad?”

“can you keep your location on this time?” her boyfriend asks, seeing her getting ready in the mirror.
“i’m just going to work, thomas,” y/n chuckles, thinking it was harmless, but she was his eyes roll almost to the back of his head.
“i’m just asking you one thing, y/n,” he groans.
“i just think you could trust me, i have a long shift today,” she brushes her hair back into an elastic, getting her belongings before grabbing her phone. she always tells herself that she’ll stand up for herself, but she falls into his traps anyway. she presses the small button hesitantly, showing him her location.
“hi, buck!” she greeted, as he walks in the door. he jogs right up to her, kissing the side of her cheek as she giggles into his touch. “i’m going out with some friends tonight, but i’ll be back before you know it so we can spend time together!”
“don’t rush, baby,” he laughs. “take your time with your friends, have a fun night.” he goes to love his stuff onto his counter, but she follows up behind him.
“oh, here, i’ll send you the link to find my friends,” she looks down at her phone, so she doesn’t see the confusion written all over his face.
“the link to what?”
“i’m just gonna send you my location, so you don’t have to ask.”
“honey, i don’t need your location,” he smiles lightly, giving her reassurance and it’s her turn to be confused.
“a-are you sure?” her nose crinkles along with her brows.
“of course, i trust you, always,” he tells her, letting the weight on her shoulders drop. she was hoping he wasn’t mad, but he would never, ever get mad at her for something as silly as that.
“oh!” she says, shocked but still appreciating him. “okay, thank you, i’ll be back in a bit.”
“don’t thank me, just be safe,” he pecks her lips again, watching her skip happily out the door.
y/n looked back in the long mirror again, slipping on a pair of heels to compliment the adorable dress she was wearing. they went along perfectly, and now she finally had an occasion to wear them. she was thrilled to show thomas her outfit, feeling pretty in her own skin and twirling the dress out in the mirror. she turned around, expecting a bright smirk on his face, but she was met with a flat expression.
“what’s wrong?” she asked, concern written in her words.
“nothing,” he grumbles, moving over to adjust his sleeves and grab something from the nightstand.
“no, somethings wrong. i can tell in your voice.”
“y/n, leave it,” he sighs, looking over at y/n who’s still waiting for a response. “are you sure you want to wear that?”
“what do you mean?”
“i mean, its a bit too much, don’t you think?” y/n looked back at the dress, not seeing anything wrong with it. maybe it was the design, her body, but clearly something was wrong with it. maybe she just couldn’t see the way he does. “we’re not going to the club, are we?”
“no, but i wanted to look nice.”
“maybe you should keep looking,” he tried to disguise his heartbreaking words with a light grin, but y/n saw right through it. he loves her, he just wants what’s best for her and she knows he knows best. so, she hung the dress back up and put the heels back in their box. she ran into the bathroom to change again, practicing happy smiles and tried to fight back the stinging tears in her eyes. he doesn’t want her to ruin her makeup.
buck and y/n’s schedules had aligned again, letting her finally be able to meet his real work family. she was so happy she could finally enter this part of his life, and only wanted to support all of his team at the 118.
y/n had been in the bathroom for a while, a little too long for buck to not have any concern. she was examining her outfit, the same dress she wore when thomas told her to take it off. she still felt beautiful in it, but not as much as she did. she never realized how easily someone could take away her confidence. she figured she’d at least leave a pair of new heels out, thinking buck would appreciate the simple sandal.
“y/n?” he knocks, lightly. “you doing alright, honey?”
“yeah!” she answers, suddenly getting that nervous feeling in her stomach. she hesitated on opening the door, but she clicked the lock and pulled it open. she felt more vulnerable than ever standing in front of him. she knew his reaction and that he’d want it off, but she was only met with complete admiration.
“woah,” he exhales, looking at her gorgeous dress and wonderful figure underneath.
“i can change if you don’t want me to wear this, i have a few more options in the bathro-“
“are you kidding? you have to wear this, you look so beautiful in this, y/n!”
“i do?” she asks, looking into his genuine eyes.
“of course you do, what makes you say that?”
“it’s just that, you know, it’s nothing,” she tried to walk back over to the shoe rack, looking for her sandals but his hand stops her.
“hey, talk to me,” buck requests, softly but also wanting her to be able to open up.
“my ex didn’t like this dress, he didn’t think i was good enough for a piece of fabric,” she laughs sarcastically, but buck can tell it hurts her still.
“well, he’s a dumbass, a dumbass who lost you,” he replies. “i’ve never seen someone more gorgeous than you, i don’t care what anyone says. i’ll spend every day proving it to you.”
“how do you do that?”
“do what?”
“just make everything so much better without trying?”
“oh, you know,” buck jokes, putting his arm around her shoulder. “im a natural, that’s all.” she slaps his shoulder, laughing at him before going off to see his family.
y/n stood in the corner of the room in an outfit she never wanted to wear today. she watched everyone converse in a friendly way, only few people stopping by to say hello. even if they did, it lasted a few minutes. she quickly became a decoration to thomas, just being there for silent support before he ditched her for more rich businesspeople. she sipped lightly at her small glass of champagne, wishing she had the whole bottle with her.
he didn’t see any potential in her, not even caring to introduce her until someone asked who she was. she never had felt more out of place, but it became a regular thing. he’d venture off to talk to other people, leaving y/n in the dark. she felt like she was just swept under the rug, something to deal with later.
“bobby, come over here!” buck shouted across the room, waving his hand for bobby to come over. when he did, he had a welcoming smile on his face and shook y/n’s hand. “this is my girlfriend, y/n.”
“it’s nice to finally meet you, y/n,” he says. “we’ve heard a lot about you, like a lot.”
“thank you for having me today,” she replies gracefully, looking at buck who’s glancing back at her with pride in his face.
“it’s our pleasure, really, you’re a delight, y/n.” athena walks in, wrapping her arm around bobby’s waist and offering y/n a drink. buck guides her over to chim and hen who sat together on one of the benches in the grants backyard.
“y/n, this is henrietta, or hen, and then chimney,” buck smiles, his hand still connected with hers and letting her say hello to everyone.
“my real names howard, by the way, not sure if that one bothered to mention that,” chimney pokes fun at buck, who pretends to be offended for a moment but just lets it be.
“i’m glad we can put this lovely face to the name,” hen beams, looking at y/n and feeling the positivity radiating from her. “maybe you can rub off on that one.”
“my names not ‘that one’ by the way, and i’m right here!” buck fake complains, but knowing they all have a good heart. “i’m about to leave and take her with me.”
everyone groans in complaint, making y/n laugh and buck leading her to sit next to everyone. she makes her rounds saying hello to athena’s kids and eddie, everyone finding her to be so graceful. the acceptance from everyone was fully unexpected on y/n’s part, barely being able to comprehend how buck could be so in love with her. she had stepped out for a moment after assisting athena and bobby in the kitchen, buck following right after her.
y/n never got this treatment from thomas, always feeling like she had to beg for it but it was so easy for buck. it made her years of insecurity and questioning vanish, only to be replaced with the security from her loving man.
“you alright?” he asks, meeting her by the steps of the home.
“yeah, i’m perfect!” she tells him. “i just didn’t expect this.”
“they all love you, what’s not to love?” he replies softly, looking her up and down. “you’re smart, you’re the sweetest person i’ve ever met, you’re wonderful in every way, y/n.”
“i remember when thomas took me to work events, and i was just in the corner with a drink. no one really noticed i was there, so it just came as a surprise to see you so affectionate.”
“i’ll always show you off, you’re the best woman i’ve ever met. i want the whole world to know that i managed to get you, and also,” he kisses her lips, bringing her thoughts back down to earth to ease her worries. “i love you, a lot.”
in that moment, y/n knew buck was everything that her ex could never be.

a/n: i’m so sorry about your day at work ml. i wanted to prioritize this so hopefully it makes your day a little better. <33 sending you the best wishes
y/n could already tell the day wasn’t going to be kind to her. working at a restaurant where the customers think they own the place can be hell, especially when the managers do nothing about it. she tried to walk in with a smile on her face, but some days it was near impossible.
it didn’t help that buck had to leave for work early today, her not being able to spend time with him before. it killed her not being able to see him or just talk to him. he always made her worries disappear and he was the reason good days were good. he knew all she dealt with, almost being grateful that he ran into fires and didn’t deal with snobby people.
y/n just tried to force herself through her long shift thinking about buck waiting for her when she got home. she so badly just wanted him to be there with her. but, he wasn’t there. so, she dealt with it like always and pushed through people complaining.
it wasn’t until one family walked in, four loud kids and parents who pretended they weren’t there. y/n was, of course, blessed with being their waitress for the night. she could visibly see the discomfort of the people around that table, their faces scrunching up after one of the children yelled once again. it came time for them to order drinks, and the smile plastered on y/n’s face was close to breaking.
“hi guys!” she said sweetly. “i’m gonna be helping you today, any drinks i can get you started with?” the kids didn’t even notice her existence, the dad ordering a large beer and the mother trying to order a drink. y/n could barely hear her over her children speaking way too loud. “and for the kids?”
“oh, yeah,” the mom turned to look at her kids. “hey! tell her what you want.”
“uh…” the boy looked at the menu, trying to pick something to drink as y/n tried to be patient with all of them. she should be in the back right now, getting them their beverages but she’s waiting on people who she can’t even hear. “dr. pepper, please.”
“no,” the mom spoke next. “we didn’t come her for soda, get something else.”
the kid rolled his eyes, giving y/n the same stare like it was her fault. she didn’t blame the kid, clearly the parents didn’t teach their children proper manners in a restaurant. “why?” he complained.
“listen to your mother, cameron,” the dad chimed in, snapping back into reality. “he’ll have a water.”
“alright,” y/n replied, keeping her cool still. she painfully takes the rest of the orders. “i’ll be back with those.”
she lines up all the drinks on the tray, walking back out and passing them to the family. she takes an order for any appetizers, and the kids dig in instantly when they come out. when y/n starts walking away, this old woman pulls her away to her table.
“hello, darling,” she begins, and y/n can already sense what she’s saying. “i’m sorry to bother you, i know you’ve got a lot on your plate, but could you maybe ask them to quiet down?” she questions, motioning to the family.
y/n wants to say yes, appreciating the kindness from the woman. however, the thing holding her back is that the family doesn’t look willing to lower their volume. “i’ll try, ma’am. i’m very sorry about all this.”
“no worries,” she smiles and y/n walks away. she figures she has time to form her question to the family incase they twist her words. when she comes back out to get their dinner orders, she decides to ask them.
“ok, are we ready for entrees?”
“yes, finally,” the mom says, adjusting herself in the seat and beginning. “i’ll do just a chicken breast, like, just the breast, and then a side of avocado.”
y/n looks at her confused, knowing that’s not an option on the menu but attempting to continue anyway. “i’m not sure that’s on the menu, is there anything specifically on there that interests you?”
“well, you have chicken and avocado because it’s in the other dishes,” she sighs. “so i can’t just do that?”
“most of our dishes are prepared ahead of time, so the ingredients are for those spec-“
“alright, can’t you just ask the chef?”
“i have had similar requests, and he’s not allowed to switch things up like that,” y/n starts to get more irritated, wishing she could just order a simple thing on the menu and be done with it.
“fine, whatever,” she rolls her eyes just like her child did. “come back to me.”
“ok, and for you?” she moves to the kids, asking them despite their lack of attention to her. the father is still gandering at the menu, neither of them focusing on their kids. her social battery is running out quickly, being physically drained from this family. she desperately looked at the clock, seeing that the time she was done wasn’t any where near. she sighed, looking back at the kids, hoping maybe they’d notice her now. maybe it was just her, but y/n felt like the kids were getting louder and louder by the second, acting like animals in the middle of the restaurant. their voices were ringing in her ears, completely overwhelming her as she said something to the parents. “i’m sorry, can you guys just get your kids to settle down? we’ve had more complaints from other tables and i just need to take your order to get the food for you.”
“i’m sorry,” y/n could tell by the tone in her voice that it was nothing but sarcasm. “isn’t this a family friendly restaurant? i mean, seriously, first it takes forever to order, and once we do, it’s not allowed to be made! like, who is in charge here?”
“miss, i’m sorry it’s been slow, but i’m just trying to make things as smooth as possible,” y/n says. “and family friendly does not mean this is somewhere to shout and mess around.”
“i’m just,” she chuckles, keeping the scrutinizing tone. “i cant believe the treatment we’ve gotten today, it’s completely ridiculous. how you have a job here still is beyond me. this whole place i’m surprised us still in business.”
y/n can feel the anger bubbling up, watching this woman degrade her and her job in front of everyone. it’s part humiliation, trying to figure out why she’s screaming at y/n in front of the other tables. “alright, listen,” y/n breaks. “i cant stop you from being upset, but if you let me try and help you, maybe we can fix it?”
“this is completely unacceptable,” the woman places her napkin on the table. “get me the person who’s running this.”
y/n turns away, going to find her incompetent boss to deal with them. once she looks all over for her, finding her at the entrance, she starts to talk. “hey, i’m sorry, i have a family here, the one with the super loud kids, the mom wants to talk to you. she’s not happy with me because i told her-“
“i don’t need the story, y/n,” her boss groans, looking at her. “i thought you could handle this.”
“she’s refusing to listen, i don’t know what to tell you,” y/n tells as if it’s not completely different as to how both of them are acting.
“go work downstairs at the bar if you can’t handle doing this,” her boss moves out of the way, just making y/n feel even more embarrassed and exhausted. she feels the families eyes burning into the back of her, trying to cover up the burning in her own eyes. the tears sizzle up on her waterline, but refusing to let them fall. she moves downstairs, hoping the people at the bar are more compliant down there. really, she just wants to go home and see buck.
he knows how hard it is. he’s had his fair share of difficult people, and he always knows how to bring y/n down. she imagines he’s here now, but he only is in her head.
she painstakingly takes drink orders from old dudes who think she’s cute, and orders from people who barely look 21. she pushes through anyway, the clock moving slow as ever. someone must be punishing her, screwing up the time and making it turn distinctly sluggish.
the next time the bell on the door rings, she just turns away, not wanting to handle another person today. she just wants her paycheck and to be done with the day, going home to lay with buck and feel his hands on her skin. some angel from above must’ve heard her, because she saw buck and his team walking into the bar. he normally goes to the other bars, but something told him be bad to see y/n.
normally, she answers a few texts in between waiting, sending him a sweet text or replying to one of his. he’s sent her several, apologizing for leaving so early and how excited he is to see her. no response or anything, just a quick read receipt alarmed him.
she looks at him and makes eye contact, letting her shoulders droop at he sits in front of her. “hi, baby.”
“hey,” she replies. “how was work?”
“it was pretty good, you?” he looks into her eyes, small and tired and he can immediately feel somethings wrong. the rest of the team turns away like they’re not listening, but secretly worried for their friends. “what’s wrong?”
“nothing,” she shakes her head. “what do you guys want tonight?”
“club soda for bobby, old fashioned for me,” she starts to turn away before getting the rest of the drinks, but buck won’t let her. “hey, you ok?”
“i’m fine,” she fake grins. “just let me get started with those.”
“there’s no rush, y/n, don’t worry about it,” buck tries to put his hand on hers, as she just looks down at it. he can see the light sparkling in her eyes, the certain one he never wants to see. “alright, come here.” he leads her behind the counter, pulling her away into the single bathrooms. when the door is finally locked behind them, the tears break in her eyes and they start flowing out. “no, baby, hey,” he swipes a few away, grabbing her hand and pulling her into his chest. “what happened?”
“i’m just doing the best i can and it’s not enough,” she says quietly, muffled by bucks jacket. his heart breaks to hear her sad voice, but he lets her continue. “i’m just trying to pay for my place and for school and it feels impossible right now. like there’s no purpose for me besides letting people get pissed at me at work.”
“listen to me, y/n,” bucks gentle voice starts. he picks his hands up and placed them on the sides of her face. “look at me. you’re always enough. those people aren’t worth any of these tears. i know it’s hard, but i’m here with you no matter what. your best right now is enough. those people are so blind that they can’t see that, and they don’t deserve you one bit.”
his words honestly just make her cry more, relieved to hear his sweet voice and loveliness. “no,” he smiles a bit. “i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to make you cry more.”
“no, no, thank you,” she looks back up at him and his beautiful face, and he looks at hers. even when she cries and looks broken, her beauty isn’t concealed and he’s here to save her. “i really needed you tonight.”
“if you ever, ever need me,” he gets closer to make sure she gets every word. “im here. always.”
“i love you,” she smiles, and he lands his lips on hers. the sweet taste of him on her lips brings her back down, letting herself relax into his hold. she brings down all her senses, allowing it to just be her and buck for now. all of her thoughts from earlier fade away, just knowing that buck thinks she’s enough.
“so fuck whoever made you feel this way,” he jokes, but not really joking. “say it, c’mon!”
“fuck them,” she smiles.
“there’s that smile,” he grins. “you ready? everyone really wanted to see you.”
“just a minute, tell them i’ll be out.” he nods, moving out of the bathroom to let her collect herself.
“she doing ok?” hen asks, curling her lips with a bit of pity.
“she’ll be ok,” he sits. “people just suck.”
“we’re all here for her,” bobby adds. buck nods, seeing her come out of the corner and going behind the counter.
“y/n!” chim excitedly says. buck loves to see the alluring smile on her face as she greets everyone, happy to make her day shine a little more.

The request would be based on the song Boyfriend - Big Time Rush. From the perspective of Buck who has a crush on his new neighbor.
Chim and Hen, tease each other about their supposed crush. But Buck knows it's not just a passing crush. Please, thank you 🙈 ✨

a/n: THAT UR LOOKIN FOR A BOYFRIEND I SEE THAT GIMME TIME YK THAT IMA BE THERE
she kind of looked like a robber smuggling boxes into the car. but, she looked beautiful while she did it. i saw the renting sign outside when i left for work every day. i wondered who’d be coming in next, but i just figured it was no one that would be too interested in me.
“here, can i help you with that?” i asked, noticing her struggle to carry in the two boxes.
“please,” she smiles. that’s when i first noticed her beauty. she graciously looked at me with the most gentle persona.
“i’m evan, buck,” i decide to say, despite my nervousness that’s accumulated from her. “i live right there.”
“good to know,” she says. “i don’t know anyone in this building, so it’s nice someone’s finally said something.”
i smile back at her, leading the boxes into the room. it looked similar to mine, so i knew where to put things.
“i hate moving,” she groans. “it’s such a pain.”
“i know, i remember when i moved out of my old place i just threw out a bunch of stuff.”
she looks back at me, and i feel the heat on my neck. i’ve known this woman for maybe five minutes and i’m already nervous near her. i cant be falling for someone this quickly. it’s happened in the past, and i won’t let it happen again.
“are you from the area?” i manage to ask to break the silence.
“yeah, i’ve lived in california my whole life, but never in la. you?”
“i’ve bounced around a lot. mainly from pennsylvania but i came here to work for the LAFD.”
“you’re a firefighter?”
“i am,” i grin, it’s already clear to her how much i love my job. “i love it, the team here is so great. the areas pretty good, too.”
“you’ll have to show me around sometime,” she says, effortlessly.
“yeah!” i reply, too fast which makes her bewitching smile appear again. “or, sure, i’d love to. if you need anything, i’m right next door.”
“thank you, buck,” she starts walking toward the open door to grab another box as i slide out next to her.
“of course…” i point at her lightly, realizing i don’t even know her name and i like her already.
“y/n,” she tells me. of course she has a beautiful name.
“right, y/n,” i send her another grin and go back to my apartment. when i see hen and chim walk toward my door, i meet them there.
“who’s that?” chimney asks.
“just a neighbor,” i say. “i was helping her move in.” the two partners exchange a glance, knowing i never meets a girl without taking an interest in her.
whenever i leave for work on certain days, it’s around the time y/n leaves too. she’s dressed in a casual, but business-like outfit that fits her perfectly. everyday, i’m blessed with the sight of her when start walking down the hallway. suddenly, today when i see her walking from her room, i can’t help but smile at her in hopes to get back her shining one.
“hey,” she speaks softly.
“hi,” i reply. “you like the building so far?”
“it’s perfect,” she exhales. “its so much better than the last place i was. it was my ex’s, but it didn’t work out.”
“oh, i’m sorry,” i say, but i’m also trying to figure out if i’m actually sorry.
“don’t be,” she manages to still pull out a bright aura that just makes everyone around her feel the same. “there’s better things waiting for me.”
after, she walks away and out of the building, and i pause behind her. better things, what could possibly be better. my next thought could have risen from my ego, but maybe i can be the next better thing.
at work, i’m permanently wondering about her. i don’t want to scare her off, she just moved in. something about her is catching me. it’s more than just her glory, it’s her mood and the way she carries herself with such decency and respect. she’s truly one of the most beautiful people i’ve ever seen, just to add. even when i’m sitting in the truck on the way to a scene, i just think about her over the rumbling of the street and murmuring of my friends.
“what’s got him so… on another planet?” bobby asks, looking back to me.
“sorry, what?” i ask, snapping out of y/n in my mind.
“i think i might have an idea,” hen teases, giving me a suggestive look. “any new neighbor time?”
“aw, the kids got a crush!” chim pokes his own fun at me, nudging my shoulder lightly as he chuckles at himself next to me.
“it’s not a crush,” i try and clear. “i just- she’s really nice and she’s gor- guys she’s gorgeous. she’s also single! so, more for me i guess.”
“listen, kid,” bobby starts. “just don’t get too attached too fast. remember how upset you were with abby?”
“trust me, she’s no abby-“
“where does she work? who’s her family? what’s her life behind closed doors?” i remain silent after being bombarded with questions. i know they’re trying to save me from more heartbreak, but i can’t help but be a little hurt. “exactly, you don’t know anything about her. why don’t you just ask her out? really get to know her…”
“it’s way too soon, she just got settled and i don’t want to be a pest.”
“buck, do you want this to be another girl you like that moves on without you?”
“not really,” i sulk, trying to think of the brighter side.
“then go for it!” hen encourages, bouncing back in on the fun discussion of my love life.
“fine!” i agree. “i’ll try and see if she’ll go out with me, now leave me alone!” i joke, in hopes to end the talk as we pull up to the scene we were called to.
after my shift had ended, i went back home. i was secretly manifesting an interaction with her, so maybe i had a chance to speak to her. the gods must’ve heard me, because when i saw her heading out of her apartment, dressed in slightly less casual clothes. she had a see-through black top with another cropped, tank top under it with a pair of jeans. her hair was done and her makeup was too, so i figured i missed my chance. she was probably going on a date.
when her voice entered my ears, part of me just wanted to keep opening my door. i didn’t want to hear about another guy, but i knew her sweetness would make her say something to me. she didn’t deserve someone like me, but i spoke to her anyway.
“long day?” she asks, slowing herself down as she passes by me.
“not too bad,” i say, giving her a kind grin back. “you look nice, though. headed out?”
“yeah,” she sighs. “just myself, though. i got dinner with friends, but i figured i’d grab a drink or something, too. they all had to leave, though.”
“o-oh!” i say, finding myself relieved that she’s not going on a date. it’s now or never, i tell myself. i have to take this shot or i’m gonna miss her forever. as soon as i open my mouth to speak, she does too.
“i was gonna go down to the bar on 7th,” she tells me. “you know if it’s any good?”
“it’s so good there, they make the best cocktails in la,” i turn my body toward her more, and i can sense her getting nervous with the pressure in the hallway too.
“do you, um,” she stutters and laughs at herself to try and ease the tension between us. it sounds bad, but i found her nervousness adorable as i can tell what she’s going to say next. “do you wanna come with me? maybe get to, like, know one another?”
the look on my face probably was frozen in, the face of anxiety and excitement. “yeah,” i begin. “yeah, i’d love to come.”
“great,” she beams back at me, and i put my extra things in my apartment before we walk down together.
it’s definitely something great.
