So Far Behind
It’s been a busy few months, but life with 4 kids is always busy.
Here’s a quick recap of what’s been happening.
In September we went on another cruise. This time we sailed Wonder of the Seas out of Port Canaveral, FL. At the time of our cruise, she was the largest ship in the world (Icon of the Seas has since taken over that distinction).
Wonder is a fantastic ship with so much to do for…

A Hot Minute
It has definitely been a hot minute since I posted anything out here.
Our life is never dull, so it isn’t a case of not having content. It’s simply the case of time. Not that time can’t be found. Honestly, I just haven’t taken the time.
So, what blog content do I have?
I had surgery to remove my gallbladder.
We went on another cruise which was much more fun than having my gallbladder…

Creating the Perfect House
Finding the perfect house is an impossible task. Finding the almost perfect house is absolutely attainable.
While shopping for our new home, we saw many houses that were almost perfect and chose the one that was the most almost perfect for us.
However, almost perfect meant there were projects to complete that would make the house even better for us. Since we purchased a newly built house, we…

Little Things Are Big Things for Others
One of the things I enjoy about travel is the experience of interacting with people in different parts of the world. For me, it’s a reminder of how fortunate I am to have opportunities that others around the world don’t have. Little things that I take for granted are big things for others.
If you read my last blog post, you know that Lili and I had to cancel our trip to Guatemala due to some…

Sitting at My Dining Room Table
Sometimes life throws you a curve ball.
And sometimes you’re hit with the pitch.
I’m currently sitting at my dining room table still feeling the impact of the fast ball that hit me on July 14th.
That evening, after the kids were in bed, I began feeling some pain on the right side of my mid-upper back. I thought I had pulled a muscle so I spent some time stretching in hopes that it would feel…

Bunkbed Project Reminder
I could apologize for bugging everyone about the service project Lili and I are going to be involved in this summer, but I won’t. We have three more weeks (July 2nd) to collect donations toward our bunkbed project in Guatemala. It’s very important to us that we provide as many bunkbeds as possible to families in need and there are A LOT of families who need a safe and comfortable place to…

Four Years and More
She came to us as a tiny baby, just 5 days old. Our job was to love her, care for her, attach and bond while waiting on mom and/or dad to work their plan so they could be the parents she needed.
For a number of reasons, reunification wasn’t possible.
It was 4 years ago today that Arryn legally became part of the World of Weeks.
She fits perfectly in this crazy family!!!

Seller Beware
This post has been a work in progress. I started it weeks ago, did some edits, then more edits, then more edits. I’ve decided to quit editing and just put the story out there for those who have been waiting to know the rest of the story.
On February 28th, our house went on the market. We had made a trip to Illinois so the house could be painted, listed and an open house held without us being in…

Bunkbed Project
As many of you know, hubby and I began our adoption journey back in 2006 when we made the decision to adopt.
In March, 2008, we went to Guatemala and brought Lili home.
Since that time, we’ve made a few trips back to visit her foster family and birth country. On our last trip, we were able to meet her biological mother and aunt.
Unfortunately, we have not been back in a number of years, but…

The Challenges of Selling a Home
With high hopes and in good faith, we entered a contract with the buyer of our Texas home. This was a buyer we selected out of 29 offers because all parts of the offer indicated that the buyer was very invested in purchasing our home. It wasn’t the highest offer by any stretch of the imagination, but we felt it was the best overall offer.
The buyer was contacted and signed the purchase…

And Life Goes On
I have worked on a cruise post off and on for over a month, but life keeps getting in the way of me finishing that post. The part of life that is preventing me from getting it finished is that we are once again moving. This time, back to our home state of Illinois.
We’ve been in Texas for over 7-years, and it has been an adventure, to say the least. However, we have two kids and grandkids in…

Third Cruise 2022
Making up for lost time, we managed to squeeze in three cruises in 2022. The crazy part is that all three cruises were between September and December.
Our last cruise for the year was on Odyssey of the Seas. We have had this cruise scheduled for about a year. It was our family Christmas gift and Odyssey is now my favorite ship of all the ships we’ve cruised. Granted, I’ve only sailed on 7 of the…

Cruising on a Monday Afternoon
Cruising on a Monday Afternoon
Now that cruising is back in full swing, or should I say sailing, the World of Weeks is trying to make up for lost time.
After we returned from our cruise on Liberty of the Seas, hubby and I began looking at other cruises to see if we could find a good deal. We did find a great deal and YOLO booked it. This time sailing on Adventure of the Seas.
We celebrated Thanksgiving and then began packing…

The Good, The Bad, and the So So - Part 4
The Good, The Bad, and the So So – Part 4
I have written this post, rewritten this post, then let it sit while I decide how I want to share this part of the story.
While this part of the story was frustrating and surprising, I don’t want to put foster parents in a bad light. There are certainly foster parents who are in over their heads and should close their home, but there are also some wonderful foster parents, while others fall…

The Good, The Bad and The So So (Part 3)
The Good, The Bad and The So So (Part 3)
With our first visit behind us, we continued moving forward with relicensing. The first line of business was submitting a new application with our agency. Our original had been submitted back in 2016, so it was outdated. They also needed the application so we could schedule orientation and classes.
We completed the application and submitted it only to find out that the agency was unable to open…
