The huddy break-up obviously seems a little forced because of outside circumstances, but also House and Cuddy could never have lasted. Cuddy knew they could never last (see convo with Wilson long before they started dating where she predicts exactly what happens). House knew they could never last (that's why he was so upset when she got a kid because he knew that that decision killed any possibility that he and cuddy could have worked). That's why they didn't get together for so long. And then Cuddy realized that she couldn't commit to anyone else unless they tried. Then they tried, and they failed. That was the only way to get it out of their system. Because they did love one another, but being in love is not enough for a successful long-term relationship. Which is also why none of the confirmed couple's in House ever last.

Watching Princess Tutu after living with someone with Alzhiemer's is a different experience.
Suddenly, I understand perfectly how Fakir got to be so fucked up about Mytho. Like...Fakir had to tell him to do anything and everything and it's an uncomfortable feeling to have that much control over someone you love and admire. And then when Mytho doesn't listen it's even more frustrating because Fakir never asked for this responsibility in the first place and now he's getting crap about it from the person he's been caring for and some girl who just stumbled into this lifelong shitshow. And Mytho can't be trusted to make his own decisions because he doesn't remember anything so he can't protect himself and Fakir overreacts and goes into full-on dictator mode but it comes from a place of love and fear and...its so true its hard to watch honestly.

The whole point of writing fascist characters as human beings is that real fascists are also human beings. If you think of fascists as somehow less than human you are falling into the trap of letting their mentality frame your worldview, thus legitimizing their course of action!
When you start looking at fascists as subhuman the debate becomes 'which group is actually subhuman and which is being unfairly maligned?' And personally I'm not fucking comfortable with that question being on the table ever.

Woah, i don't know that I've ever understood the assignment as well as Moira Quirk understands Gideon the Ninth. That audiobook makes me embarrassed for other audiobooks. Like...holy shit.
Me reading GtN: She's a smartass i get it. Calm down.
Me listening to GtN: i actually get it now. I would die for this woman.

Ah, yes. This is obviously how you should catch people falling out of the sky. By the head and ass.

That movie was a mess. A fun mess, but a mess. The pacing. The transitions. Some of the line deliveries seemed like they could have used another take. Why didn't they continue the social media thing with the hearts and smiley faces throughout the movie as a looming threat? Why didn't they add a graphic of Alex's calendar doodles as a transition to give the audience a sense of time progression, place, and insight into his feelings. (Okay, maybe i just like this idea but...Angry face at PR. Smiles for New years because he's excited. Polo mallet for obvious reasons. A heart by the lakehouse date because he's in love.) Or add something else to serve that purpose? Like...who made decisions for this movie, lol? (Let's be real, though i'm sure amazon gave them five minutes to write, film, and edit this.)

Discussion of Aziraphale and Crowley and Temptation-spoilers under cut
At first, I was confused about the amount of time spent on the Jobe flashback. Its familiar territory, and it could have been summarized, but that amount of focus makes sense in context with the last scene. It's a reiteration that Crowley is what pushes Aziraphale forward. He offers the meat. He doesn't kill the kids, putting Az in a position to lie to the angels. But both of those times, as well as the holy water thing and the entire arrangement, he gives Az a choice, and given time, Az makes the choice that's best for them. The kiss is a different beast. Crowley doesn't tempt him. He forces it. Most of us are more likely to side with Crowley in this argument because 'fuck society', but Crowley made a bad choice. That's why he gets the reaction he gets. If he had asked Az to kiss him...who knows? But he didn't ask (because he's tired of always asking, always dragging, always being the one to push) so Az couldn't choose. Instead, Az sticks to his guns and this time he doesn't come around (yet).

Here's an unnecessary post explaining the 'gay sitcom' dream that Cuddy has for anyone lacking context.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a Two and a Half Men spoof. For those of you who aren't familiar, its a strangely popular sitcom that ran from 2003 to 2015 about two brothers living together with one of their kids. One is more straight-laced, and the other is a dog.
Just in case you wondered why House is dressed in that weirdass shirt. This is the explanation. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of Hilson, and y'all can obviously keep calling it the 'gay sitcom' scene or whatever you want, but at its core it was a spoof of a deeply terrible, yet popular sitcom.

Have we talked about Logan feeling responsible for killing Rose in the context of Logan's "You have to be a killer" line yet? And the fact that Kendall was also involved in an accidental death and is now set to take Logan's place? Both of them were not actual killers, were made to feel they were, and let that define them going forward. Maybe Roman could have been the guy if that astronaut had actually died instead of just losing a thumb.

This episode was actually the culmination of so much. If not for the Tom Shiv divorce/fight or If Tom wasn't on fucking coke...If Logan wasn't dead... If Roman didn't want to fuck the fascist...If Shiv had been honest with Kendall in the room...If Ken hadn't tried to keep Shiv out to begin with... If Mattson wasn't a dick about their dad's death...
Really well done, everyone

Something something if the baby lived and brought the group joy, then it would have been easier to cast Jackie as the villain in her own death, but now the baby is also dead and shauna has to face her past choices

This episode actually convinced me that the three kids working together could do alright. Like if they actually trusted each other and consulted each other and listened to each other. Like Shiv and Roman could not have done that pitch, but Shiv would know that Roman is falling apart right now and making snap decisions, and Roman has the best grasp of the concept that numbers aren't 'just numbers'. But then, even in their season 3 finale fantasy they are fighting each other for the top seat so...here we are.

My all-time favorite House expression.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For context this is the scene where Wilson brags about living a less meaningful life, shows off his fancy new car, and then accidentally sets off his car alarm like the giant dork he is. And then House looks at him like this.
It's such a complicated look. There's amusement, fondness, pity, a tinge of sadness. It's patronizing. It's reverent. It's unique to this moment. It's just...beautiful.

I feel like this relationship is especially interesting when compared to Cersei and Margaery. Both Lannisters take an instant dislike to their corresponding Tyrells, but Jaime starts to treat Loras like a mentee whereasas Cersei treats Margaery as a threat.

Jaime & Loras is such an underrated dynamic. Loras represents to Jaime what he used to be: the arrogant boy full of empty chivalry, and he initially dislikes him for it, but he also embodies the potential Jaime had, so he cannot help but feel affection too. He admires Loras’s strong love and loyalty towards Renly. He respects his skill, and starts smiling at his antics. They both start to drop their facades around each other and start a brief student-mentor relationship. I think it is a very thematically important relationship considering the theme of embodying true knighthood when it concerns the next generation, and the responsibility that falls on the shoulders of the generation before.
