thinking about confession arc and how accurate the confrontation with Ritsu and Mob was. Ritsu is the one to actually understand who ???% is and recognizes him as a part of his brother before Mob even accepts it. But that’s the thing: Mob doesn’t accept his powers. It’s a classic sibling moment of being able to exactly point out an obvious problem but them not listening to you. Mob doesn’t need an obvious answer that he is his powers: he needs closure with who he is.

Then I started thinking about why Shou and Toichiro show up and I was like Oh. Toichiro cant sacrifice himself because he wants to be a father in Shou’s life. He can’t just die here when his son still needs him. It’s a parallel of Toichiro learning from Mob’s sacrifice during the claw arc to value his family instead of only power, but now Mob only survives confrontation in his life by sacrificing himself to his powers. Even with Ritsu there, Mob needed someone to tell him it’s ok to have his powers and just be an emotional teenager. That everyone has different sides of them but it’s ok to confide in others when things get too overwhelming. He needed the next biggest liar in town to confess that they’ve also been hiding who they are and trust both Shigeo and Mob. He needed to be shown vulnerability to confront yourself and push through the consequences of self-improvement, tears streaming down your face and all.

If im understanding this correctly. Kid also values Blackstar for his attitude of surpassing the gods because he provides him balance. Nobody has ever tried competing with Kid but now he has someone that not only makes his existence balanced, but is also a friend

theyr really sweet together because Kid has always been Blackstar’s biggest supporter in becoming a god. And now Blackstar dives headfirst into madness and saves Kid from remembering how important having order in his life is. How meaningful his sisters and Blackstar are to his existence.

this panel went crazy too. I’m not sure how exactly he means “your existence is too large” but its oddly sweet. Because Kid still sees Blackstar’s tremendous power, but now as a threat to his own lost worth from nothingness. He also says this right after the flashback of Kid always believing in Blackstar since one of the first moments they met. They are sooo.. i like to think there’s a hint of “your existence is too large for me to become nothingness” because of how complete the two make each other. Blackstar came to save Kid and also thank him for letting him reach his full potential and now he gets to help Kid develop his own identity of godhood. They both save each other and share so much appreciation, especially after Blackstar pledging himself to Kid that was crazy

need to know if Kid even knew his dad wasn’t symmetrical like why is he an exception. How would he react to someone pointing out Lord Death’s asymmetry? Would she laugh at the absurdity of it? Would he be confused he didn’t notice such flaws? Or would he stare blankly, not even bothering to process nor acknowledge the comment because her dad was the one who taught her balance and order in the first place; when everyone sees Lord Death as Death City’s protector, Kid sees his own core beliefs of Order arise from deep in the soul he was granted as a fragment.

But I don’t think it’s some sort of brainwashing “oooo you are fragment of my being which means you have to be nice to meee” because Asura literally exists. But we also see how much Kid questions her father’s decision, but always respects him. And with the fact nobody else but Lord Death understands godhood, even if his dad is annoying, Kid still loves him. Maybe that’s all it is: love for the person who shaped you but let’s you take control of your own life…

Still, it’s depressing to wonder if Kid is truly at peace when he’s with his dad, or if she’s suppressing her symmetry compulsions to look like a “perfect” successor around Lord Death (Kid doesn’t even know about Asura, but still worries that he will never take Death’s place because of his OCD)
