funniest thing about hazbin the television show is that the whole driving motivation of the protagonist is preventing exterminations except she's also literally the only one who cares about them. they kill thousands at random every year, you'd THINK that a place full of selfish motherfuckers in that position would jump at the opportunity to try and save their skin, but they don't care. it was an issue with the pilot but it's even funnier in the show. they announce that the next extermination is in 6 months and everyone's just like damn that sucks. they had to suddenly make it later so that adam is targeting the hotel specifically because otherwise it literally doesn't matter

I. Really like , your redesigns????? They actually take advantage of the setting and back stories that we get while also giving unique body sizes????? I can't wait to see what else you got in store!!!

Thank you! My main thing about this rewrite/Redesign is making sure every Sinner has a body type distinct from each other and a color palette that tries to be as different as possible.

I tested this out by making a color palette of each character from the original and my own roster and at least for me, I can tell who's who in mine.

(the characters are aligned with their own counterparts btw.)

If you can tell who's who from the original palettes then you will be able to know which ones are which in the Deadbeat roster (Cherri Bomb is the only one I haven't designed yet.)

I think I might have made Angel's redesign/rework too intertwined with my own trauma. I need to take a step back and change some stuff about them so that they are a bit less personal.

I don't think there's anything wrong with making a character similar to me to a point, but in their current state I'd be pretty uncomfortable getting criticism on their characterization and reaction to trauma so I need to go back to the drawing board.

So they are gonna be in limbo for a while :[ esp bc finals are coming up ugh.

I fucking LOVE Murder Drones, I'm so happy you got into it!!!!!!

I'm really happy I've gotten into it too!

One thing I've always really loved about Murder Drones is the character designs, even when I wasn't into the show. Especially the disassembly drones. The white/grey/black + the pop color yellow is such a nice color scheme AND it works perfectly with the caution tape stripes on their limbs. Which is even more rad bc its a visual warning that is easy to pick up on! & the syringe tails are so cool,

but yeah I really wanted to draw N :]

Ok, personally? Katie Killjoy and Tom Trench's designs would have been AMAZING If Katie Had more bug elements/anatomy to her and Tom's body shape wasn't one of a twig, like Inverted triangle or trapezoid, also could amke an interesting dynamic of "woman who uses a man bigger than her like a doormat" given what we got from them in the pilot (also being anon again on this one lol)

I actually really enjoy Katie Killjoy's vibe! I agree on more bug features but I think I overcomplicated her here. Oh well. I've heard she is supposed to be a mantis, but I always think stickbug when I see her because of the arm placement... but viv does that arm placement for all bugs so... Also love the cracking noises!

I don't think I did Tom well? I could have pushed the proportions more. I do like Tom's design concept a lot as well, its why I didn't really change much. tbh I probably should have done this as a non screenshot redraw. I find it difficult to revise body proportions in redraws since I can make them 5-6 times bigger and then that just looks like a normal guy, not a guy with broad shoulders.

I really wasn't into Murder Drones when it first came out. I remember thinking that the humor wasn't my style and the tone felt inconsistent. I didn't think it was bad, just not for me. I did come back every so often to watch a couple episodes, but I remember having a hard time keeping track of the plot.

... bbbbut I tuned in for the latest episode and I think I love it actually. I tend to be very picky for how tech and AI is portrayed in media [<- fun ruiner alert] and I really really love how those concepts are used in Murder Drones.

I'm thinking of rewatching it with more of an understanding of the overarching plot so I can appreciate it more.

why are so many of vivziepop's queer characters just caricatures

this list is mostly based on helluvaboss because hazbin hotel's portrayal of sexual assault is so upsetting to me i can't watch it anymore

Blitzø- a (edit: pansexual) man who is a liar, a cheater, afraid of commitment and attachment, uses sex as a tool to get what he wants, mistreats his partners, sexually harasses the people around him, and is obsessed with sex and innuendo

Stolas- a gay man who is obsessed with sex and innuendo, sexually harasses the people around him, and whose gayness is responsible for his daughter suffering and his family falling apart.

Fizzaroli and Asmodeus- lumped together because again, they're gay men who are obsessed with sex and innuendo and harrass the people around them. At least their relationship is healthy.

Angel Dust- yet another gay man who is obsessed with sex and innuendo and who sexually harasses the people around him. He's also a sex worker who's a victim of trafficking (harmful because sex work is so rarely portrayed as something consensual) and the portrayal of his abuse makes a mockery of real victims.

Alastor- an asexual character who is only asexual for the sake of jokes because Vivziepop thinks sexual harassment and not desiring sex are funny.

Any of these things on their own would be excusable but Vivziepop has a habit of consistently making her queer characters perpetuate harmful stereotypes about queer people, and her fans champion her as some kind of queen of representation because she portrays gay people whatsoever.
