Let’s talk about THAT scene
So... I guess in the end, we gotta talk about THAT scene... yes the one that killed all the Reylo’s and probably trashed TROS fan rating beyond what was expected... probably.
The Kiss.
On the first watch, and actually even on subsequent watches... The Kiss was definitely NOT what got me. In fact I eyerolled the first time at the Kiss. Probably because in hated TLJ and I did reject the whole ForceTime thing too. Haha.. oops. 😅
So which then brings me to the thing that made me “turn”, and pretty much support the “love” twist of this Star Wars romance....
THE SMILE.
SLAYED.
Adam Driver fucking slayed a ton of people with just a 2-second flash of his smile.
Fuck.
Now THAT is really the power of his acting.
Akin to the fucking pathetic “please” that made me lose a ton of respect for Kylo. Lololollll.
Now THAT too is the power of his acting.
But yeah.. what can I say?
I think it’s the smile that made the death just a second after so much more soul crushing.
That said, I did like the sequence.
First. I love the fact that the LAST REAL SKYWALKER ROSE from that pit and then dragged himself to the love of his life lolol.
On the first watch, since I was dense, I didn’t feel it was the love of his life, but I get it, I think Ben Solo really did drag himself out of the pit just to get to Rey.
Which is fucking incredibly sad because when he gets there, she’s dead.
Sometime posted on Twitter that Ben Solo probably felt her die while he was climbing out of the damn pit alone.
Which is when when he reaches her, I think he’s devastated to discover that indeed, she IS dead.
Poor boy. Forever alone. Truly.
Which is so sad when he picks her up and he looks around to help and there’s no help to come.
Which is when he hugs her.
I think when he first hugs her, i think he hugs her coz that was what he wanted to do all this time but now he’s too late and she’s gone.
But as he holds her with tears in his eyes, and holds her so so close and buries his chin into her, I think that’s when he knows what he must do and it’s when he makes up his mind that he would give up his life for her. I think it is then that he decides her being alive is the most important thing to him, even if he has to die and forfeit his life for her.
Which is when he withdraws from the embrace, calms himself and reconnects with the force, not just to heal her, but to transfer all his life and force energy into her.
Such a sweet boy. Awwwwwe.
And then, woahhhhh! She actually wakes up!
And she looks at him, astonished!
Tumblr media
And the next two sequence are actually my favorite..
He looks back at her with all the tenderness in his eyes, so relieved and so grateful, and such a quiet happiness and disbelief that she was back, here with him.
Adam’s eyes drift down towards Daisy’s lips tho, hmm hmmm... Ben Solo really wanting to kiss Rey I suppose ^^
Tumblr media
And when she calls his name “Ben” and smiles so happily for him, and he looks back at her.
Tumblr media
And then when she touches his face so gently too. The gentleness in his eyes, and the slight smile that begins to emerge from a very very lonely Ben Solo who feels Rey’s affection and melts in tenderness too.. I think that in this moment Ben is feeling incredibly (but tenderly) happy and contented that he was able to save her, and that his sacrifice was all worth her smile and her affection that he was now receiving from her.
His eyes speaks of relief, tenderness, love, and sadness and I think there’s so much in him that says in his eyes “You’re alive... you’re here..”
(Fuckkkk Adam did you have to play it THATTTT real??? Sometimes I really wonder what actors do to conjure up such real feeling when it’s really all just acting! The hell!)
Tumblr media
I think Ben was feeling really really really glad and relieved the one he loves is alive.
So it was good for the virgin “you’re nothing” boy that the kick-ass “we’ll see” Rey from Jakku girl made the first move and kissed him!
And after the Kiss. Ben looks soooooo incredibly sad. I think he was sad to know that he’s going to die.
(Fuck youuuuu Disney overlords!!! 😭😭😭)
But he also still looks so tender, like darling, I’ve given all I have to you.
And Rey looks at him happy and relief too... like.. Ben’s back..
Tumblr media
And then as she continues to touch and carcasses his face, I think he understands how much she loves him and how much she’s happy too.
Tumblr media
And I think, that’s why he smiles.
He smiles because he’s incredibly happy that Rey loves him too and they could finally be with each other and their feelings were finally connected and fulfilled. He smiles because even for the most fleeting of moment, he’s happy the was loved, and they could finally express their truest feelings and be together.
And equally he smiles too because he knows and feels it was all worth it, giving up his life force for her to live, because that’s what’s most important to him.
And I think he’s contented. And I think he “died” and returned to the force, happy, loved and relieved he was able to save the one he loves because her living meant the most to him more than his own life.
Might as well kill us Adam coz that’s really what you did.
Lol.

Yeah yeah yeah...
So yes, went to watch TROS for the 12th time yesterday (still gonna fall short of the 20 times with Iron Man 3). It’s probably gonna be my last time, though.
So finally noticed a few things:
1) Sun Kok was asking if Rey had her bag with her on the skimmer. - Yes she had it on the close up shots, but not the wide shot of her back with the waves.
So her not having her bag during the fight with Kylo is it’s a bit of a nuisance haha.
2) FINALLY noticed when Kylo’s scar gets healed. You can literally see the scar fading as he looks at Rey after she’s healed him of the fatal stab wound.
Things I still don’t get:
1) why was Rey and Kylo fighting so much?
Was it really coz Rey was disappointed in him THAT much? Like she’s also lost hope in him??
I know she wanted to go kilk Palpatine and he was being annoying and kept pestering to hook up, so she got way darkside mad when he crushed the Wayfinder.
But still! Why she so mad with him for?? The whole time until the very end of their fight, Kylo was quite level headed with her! But she’s the one being the angsty one. Why?
2) Palpatine’s plan
I didn’t even bother to try to understand
Stuff I still can’t accept: Rey Skywalker.
Nuff said lol.
Things I thought yesterday:
I realized that Ben Solo wasn’t even force healing Rey. He was actually life transferring all his force energy to her coz she’s basically dead. It’s not just healing, it was literally giving his life force to her.
Wthhhhh.
Why he so sweet?
Why he go do that????????????
And I think Adam played the character so well too, coz you could really see the tenderness in his eyes like “she’s alive... I could do it... it was worth it”
Fuck.
So sad.
Wth.
Keep some life for yourself boy!

Hohoho
I’ve been seeing a lot of negative press on Screen Rant about TROS, and how they keep saying that TLJ is a better film. Fuck that.
And at the same time they keep trashing the episode and saying how “TROS is the worst reviewed episode of the entire SW franchise”.
Well it’s coz of shit press like you who keep badmouthing it!!!
So today, saw yet another article about how TLJ was the best in the sequel.
But I decided to look into the comments which usually is even worse junk.
But surprisingly to my great pleasure, most of the comments are actually positive about TROS and trashing TLJ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually I’m really glad to see that coz it really does seem like TROS really was slightly more enjoyable for fans (sans Reylos) and it’s really not as bad as press makes it to be.
And it’s really great coz a lot of what others commented about TLJ and TROS really exactly echoes my own thoughts and opinions too! So.. it means I’m not wrong nor alone in how I feel! So it means I’m not just being crazy!
Especially like how I feel that the reason TROS is bad is because it was TLJ that fucked shit up so bad that TROS needed to reverse a bit more and hence wasted time in that.
Also, that TLJ was the one that bent waaaaaay too far away that made TROS bad.
Andddddd that TLJ wasted soooooo much precious time on that whole Canto Bight shit that could’ve been used for other things, like maybe setting up Palpatine’s return.
Andddddddddddd that TLJ was the fucking one that ignored what was set up in TFA!!!!!!!!!! Like no fucking way in hell Rey would be a “nobody”.
Like alllllll us fans have always speculated on her background after watching TFA is because of what we (thought!) know about the force, that such great force users or like if someone suddenly gain so much power, it must be because of her background, her family, her blood! Hence ALLLLL the speculation about her being a Kenobi or Luke’s daughter and when Palpatine!
It’s Rian who fucking wanted to make SW into a fucking human drama.
Dude, it’s a sci fi action movie!!!!
Yes, I do think he had GREAT ideas. But NO.
Like I agree with a commenter that said that Rian should direct all 3. Like if he made his own series, then it’s fine!
But he can’t just throw out ALLLLLLL the other 7 episodes either! Which is essentially what he was trying to do!
And the way that he changed the tone of SW from this action sci fi adventure into this whole social commentary and human drama.
I’m not saying it’s not good, I’m just saying that perhaps NOT as a follow up to Ep 7.
It’s episode 8 that fucked up the intended flow.
Like I said, NO, it’s not BAD. In fact the character development were great! But fucking rian sucks at writing an action adventure Star Wars. Seriously.
And as for the Reylo’s, you know, I’m probably a Reylo too coz I did root for the pairing, since it’s the most obvious one too and Daisy and Adam do have great chemistry that’s instantaneously obvious.
But, seriously, I feel that JJ’s biggest mistake was to not to not let Ben live (for Disney reasons). I think if Ben Solo lived at the end of the ep, fuck me, these fucking fans are gonna turn around and say “BEST EPISODE!”. 😤😤😤😤😤😤
And on top of that, I feel there’s such a huge reaction and uproar ONLY coz Ben Solo died.
I think if he had lived, there would be waaaaay less of a ripple through the community.
Well at least in the end, Adam’s charity benefited from this whole thing. So that’s always a good thing because THAT is real life, and THAT is really what truly matters.

11th
So, watching TROS the 11th time today (yes, was still going to walk out after Ben Solo dies coz screw the Rey Skywalker ending shit), yes, while I still hold true to my theory (to comfort myself) that technically Ben Solo rising from the pit is symbolic of the last Skywalker rising and then giving his life up for Rey, hence making her kinda like... Skywalker.
So anyway, so while I do still think that way, I also believe that Kylo Ren may have been the last Skywalker, it’s really his Solo heart that saved the galaxy by saving Rey.
How sad. Bleh.
That said! So today I was trying to notice where Rey dropped her bag in the Death Star.
So all the way up till meeting Dark Rey in the emperor’s vault, she still has her bag. Then even when she falls out of the vault, her bag is still with her. Then BOOM Kylo grabs the Sith Wayfinder, and cut to Rey standing up, the bag is suddenly gone.
Proooooobably a continuity error. Coz it’s totally uncool for her to carry the bag during her fight with Kylo.
But why did they even have her carry the bag? Her staff is not with her the entire time. The could’ve just have her not carry the bag and the audience would assume she had left it on the falcon with her staff.
Soooooooooo if it ain’t a continuity error, then there’s the other theory floating around, whereby Rey’s yellow lightsaber could be from a purified kyber crystal from Kylo’s lightsaber (that she force finds in the deep depths of the ocean. This is Star Wars don’t ask how tf she would manage such a feat!)
If so, that would be really sweet.
But other than logistical illogic, Kylo’s crystal was cracked to begin with, so..... I don’t think Rey would’ve been able to use it!!
Yeah.
And I realized so... Rey is basically All the Jedi, The Last Jedi, the last Palpatine AND the last Skywalker.
What?
😶😶😶

The tragedy of...
So... looking at all the Reylo angst coz of the whole Ben Solo - Rey thing...... seriously, they’ve never experienced this:
Tumblr media
Yeah.
You know what’s tragic?
The story of Mulder & Scully.
Reylo’s are definitely not X-Files fans and have never experienced the frustrations, the longing, the anger, the utter confusion, the infinite heartbreaks of shit writing, wasted opportunities, completely botched character arcs, mind-twisting mindless plotlines (is there even one??) of being an X-Files fan.
And as for chemistry????? Dudeeeee! David and Gillian, ahem, I mean Mulder and Scully practically coined the term “ship”!
Lol.
Here Reylo fans, will leave you with the face of tragedy. (And this is just a small bit!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Urm.......... Yeah. At least all you had to endure was 2 episodes, and maaaaaybe 5 mins of Rey-Ben 😍😍😍
We had to endure..... YEARS.
Of nothing.
And then...
WTF?!?!!?!!!!!!!!!😦😧😦😧😦😧🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I’ve not even put on the Jimmy Kimmel interview her, lord what happened there?!?!?!?! 😳😳😳😳😳😳
Fuck. Looking at the gifs after all these years still make my heart flutter and BREAK all at once! 💔😭❤️🥰💔😭

Favs stuff
Since we’re kinda obsessed right now. So let’s just go through favs.
1) Favorite Ep: Episode 5. Although when I was younger lolllll, I used to like Episode 6 best. Not coz of the story but coz Luke was finally (kinda) a cool Jedi there.
2) Least Favorite Episode: Episode 2. Dude fuck but seriously PLEASE JUST REMOVE all those scenes between Anakin and Padme. I remember watching this episode in the theater and I was literally squirming at ALLL their scenes together, just those whole thing feels icky- the dialogue not helping either!!
3) Favorite Character: Obi-waaaaaan!!!!!!!!!!! I just hate the injustice of the prequels where they turned this pretty funky cool Padawan into this old crag who’s chicken shit to defy the Jedi Council and who sometimes is quite a jerk to his padawan. On top of that, this mysterious revered “Jedi” in Episode, is reduced to a failed master, whose story is sidelined and who is constantly getting his ass kicked by the baddies and by his increasingly arrogant Padawan. Such a fucking shame and waste of Ewan McGregor. (Kinda like how Adam’s Kylo was also constantly being sidelined and ass-kicked by Rey&co. Wtfffff. Waste of Adam Driver)
4) Least Favorite Character: Anakin. Yeah okay kill me if you want, but seriously, can’t fucking stand Anakin one bit. Not one bit. And it was sooooo crucial to actually have even a tad bit of sympathy of this character so that we might actually feel that there COULD be light in Vader. But seriously, anakin just came off as a completely arrogant prick. And even with his “love” for Padme, like it was possessiveness and obsession. (Kylo’s “you’re nothing” belittling of Rey doesn’t sit well either, as much as his “but not to me” seems sweet but no, yeah).
5) Favorite Quote: Help me Obiwan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.
6) Favorite Ship: Is the Death Star a ship?? If not, I’m gonna go with Kylo Ren’s TIE fighter. It’s super cool.
7) Favorite Droid: Hmmmm tough. But I think I’ll go with BB-8 for cutest, but R2 for being fucking spunky! Then it’s K2SO and D-0! (Sorry 3P0!! But then I do like C3PO waaaaaaay more than L3-37 in Solo)
8) Favorite Lightsaber: I’m going to go with Obiwan’s only coz I like obiwan. But maybe Dark Rey comes second.
9) Favorite Light Saber Battle: It used to be Anakin-Obiwan on Mustafar in Episode 3 coz FINALLY obiwan kicked Anakin’s ass and it was intense. But, I think I’m going to go with Rey-Kylo on the wreckage of the Death Star. Maybe only coz the sound design was AMAZING there too lol, with the waves and all, that was INTENSE!
I might have gone with the throne room Battle in Episode 8 because it’s wonderful writing to see lightside and darkside coming together in a battle, but it lacked an actual LIGHTSABER battle. So Yeah.
10) Favorite Battle: For Battles themselves though, I’ll go with Episode 6’s Vader-Luke-Emperor. Because it was such a great mind game. It wasn’t just a light saber duel, it was a literally a dual between the light side and the darkside and fighting BOTH with an outside and the enemy inside himself for Luke. There’s nothing quite like it in any of the other battles where it was mainly just a battle of strength in using the force.
Favorite Underrated Character: probably not underrated but I’ve come to like the Jawas! I mean they seems like scavangers but I think they must be pretty advance in their knowledge of technology! Waaaay better than the sand people!
Favorite Scene: You know, I’m going to go with Rogue One’s ending sequence on Scarif. From the moment when the destroyer crashes into the gate deactivating the shield, and then Jyn and Cassian’s beautiful yet so tragic scene in the elevator (I think it’s the most beautiful scene in Star Wars lol), and then Vader attacking the ships and then ending with Leia. Wonderful wonderful.
Lol. And it was all a last minute reshoot 😅
Coming in second... I’ll go with when Luke comes to meet Jabba the Hutt!!! Coz it was soooooooooo cool the firsr time I watched it all those years ago... “Jedi”- I think that’s the moment I was sold on this Jedi thing!!!
Saddest Moment: Well since I went with the ending of Rogue One as best scene, I’ll go with the scene of Ben Solo RISING to reach Rey and then sacrificing himself to save her.
Most Powerful Moment: Okay, I’m going to go with the illicit Rey-Kylo hand touch. It was powerful to me because the entire sequence had a sense of fear, of something forbidden yet something so very intimate between two people who are totally opposite in their force but yet so similar in their hearts— here this girl, who’s seeking to train in the light and there her enemy, the man given into the dark in his murder of his own father- this them just being there was itself so forbidden- yet she was there in her most vulnerable and the one person she chose to open up to because this was the only person who’s probably understand her. You know they’re NOT supposed to even be there together and yet they are, and then... they touch. Just for an instance.
Fuck! Mark Hamill was right! It’s as close to a sex scene Star Wars will ever get! Lololol.. and they’re only like BRUSHING fingers. Heck!
Favorite Friendship: welllll no brainer Han-Leia-Han!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rogue One’s ragtag team comes in second.
Favorite chase:
Favorite battle (non Jedi):

Star Wars: End of Skywalker
So, Yeah. Watched Star Wars 10 times.
On the first watch, I actually really enjoyed it, really not caring how Palpatine came back and all. I mean this is frigging Star Wars! How the hell did they make that second Death Star so quickly? Who knows and who cares?!- I know it’s sloppy writing but seriously, it’s a.. it’s a frigging pew-pew-pew Sci Fi movie!
But I digress.
In spite of fans complaining that the beginning was a dizzying pace, I actually liked it instead of a slow start. And it wasn’t as rapid a jump from place to place like Rogue One either.
Anyway, I was quite alright with the whole thing and I really really loved the sound design, as well as, the music for this episode. Amazing amazing work by John Williams. I mean I don’t pay attention to these stuff usually but this episode, it really did grab my attention.
So really, on my first watch, I only had two misgivings about it, the second one being the most significant.
Edit: I added a third which I think is also one of the great big debates of why so many fans (Reylo) hated TROS.
1) REYLO.
The first was THE KISS.
Yes, I do think Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley have one of those amazing on-screen chemistry (or I feel, in their case, INTENSITY), almost to the degree of Mulder and Scully (that speaks a lot!).
But actually, I hated The Last Jedi and I didn’t pay much attention to the whole Reylo thing. I knew it existed but not to such degree!
In fact, while I really enjoyed their scene together in TLJ, I was really opposed to their whole ForceTiming thing coz like WHATTTTT???? I felt at that point, Star Wars became like a romantic chick flick! What!
But I DID thing at that time, the legendary HAND TOUCH scene was fucking INTIMATE, if not one of the most intimate Star Wars scene ever.
But anyway, back to Rise of Skywalker.
Since I wasn’t in tuned with the whole Reylo thing and except for the ForceTime thing in Episode 8, I couldn’t understand The Kiss, like I felt it came out of nowhere and THEN he conveniently dies the next moment and like WHAT????
I mean watching it, I knew that if Ben Solo didn’t die after the kiss, those geeky Star Wars fan would have heads rolling and complaining that Star Wars has turned into a romance story.
So Yeah. Ben Solo has to die.
Reylo & Ben Solo Misgivings after rewatches:
However, rewatching Episode 8 a few more times again and then rewatching Episode 9 a lot more times again...
(1) I do feel incredibly sad about Reylo. Lol.
I feel, it’s really really really really really really tragic that two lost and lonely souls, FINALLY finds each other, and this LITERAL once in generations a force like life itself Soulmates, FINALLY reunite...... ONE of them fucking DIES. Like WHAT??????????
Like you have the two most powerful force users around and not just that, they’re seriously literally ONE soul split in two and YET, one fucking dies.
WHAT?
WHAT?
WHAT?
It’d have been less heartbreaking if they weren’t a frigging force dyad!
(2) I fucking hate how Ben Solo was treated.
(This will be further explored in another post!)
He might have been Kylo Ren but seriously, other than Rey, he really had no one else.
I hate to say this but Luke was a fucking asshole. He should’ve been the one to believe in his nephew but all the way till the very end, he insulted him by treating him like a kid, literally calling him “kid”.
And yes, while I know that Leia spent the last of her life to reach out to her son, did she do it to save him or did she do it to protect Rey? The way that the scene was set up, it seemed like Leia was trying to save Rey by stopping Kylo, not to save her son Ben, per se.
Kylo had always LONGED to go back to his mom. But the way that Leia called out to him didn’t seem like she was trying to help him, but instead, was trying to help Rey.
Which was reinforced in the last scene with force ghost Leia smiling at Rey so lovingly.
HOW ABOUT BEN?!?!?!
RESOLUTION:
As much as fans don’t like that redemption in Star Wars always means death, I think, perhaps, sigh, Ben’s death was befitting.
Kylo’s obsession was that he wanted to be greater than Vader, to do finish what he started, by sacrificing his life for Rey, I think he was able to do what Anakin couldn’t: save the girl he loves.
Anakin turned to the dark side because he wanted to stop Padmé from dying, but in the end, he failed.
But Ben was able to do just that, not just through power, but through self sacrifice. I guess in the end, it’s a balance in the force because you can’t have life without death and I think Ben knew that too.
Tumblr media
Bravo Adam Driver really lol 😂😂
But seriously, rewatching the episode so many times, I felt this was really the moment that Ben Solo made his decision to give his life up for Rey.
Like before that, he was in shock that she was dead and he was all alone and he was looking around begging for help somewhere (no thanks to the force ghosts of the Jedis of the past 😤).
Then he hugs her and this is the moment he makes his decision to give his life up to save her..... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔 lordddd how is this a happy end??????? Lol 😅
But it’s in this sense that it’s not just a redemption, but it just goes to show Ben Solo is NOT Kylo Ren, and Kylo Ren is truly dead and it’s Ben Solo whos alive- because god bless his pure heart, Ben Solo is the one who is willing to give up his life for the girl he loves, or at least, his force dyad.
He does it not because he’s a Jedi, not because he’s a reformed and redeemed Sith, he does it because he is he, he is Ben Solo, and it’s Ben Solo who decides to give his life for the one he loves.
I think that’s powerful.
So, on that note... I lay the blame entirely on Adam. Fuckkkkk did he have to play Ben Solo sooooo damn convincingly?????? And his chemistry with Daisy, lord spare us! Seriously Adam though.. Like dudeeeeee the smile right at the end- like PURE LIGHT and JOY in this poor tortured boy’s soul “I saved the girl I love... yay..”— dude I think that killed 50% of all Reylo skeptics and probably made us feel a tinge of sadness when he died. Ahhh fuck. In one, just ONE tiny little facial expression. Dammit.
I think that caused a slew of people to hate the ending coz he died and started rooting for a “dude let them happily ever after for goodness sake!” ending.
Gah! Good actors!
2) REY FUCKING WHAT?????
But the SECOND thing that didn’t sit well with me and this is the one that still KILLS me is that I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE that Rey calls herself Rey Skywalker in the end. Like FUCK NO. And even after 10 times watching it, it’s still a FUCK NO.
I KNOW Disney is trying to continue the franchise without actually continuing it, and HENCE Skywalker is like a 007 code name now- but seriously, FUCK THAT.
REASONS why I disagree with the whole Rey Skywalker bullshit:
1) Rey BARELY has a connection with Skywalker
- She trained with Luke THREE days. THREE. And the LAST scene of them training was Rey threatening to KILL Luke with his lightsaber. So like WHAT???
- She trained with Leia but remember, Leia has always been identified as an ORGANA, and on top of that, she married SOLO. Like she may have been a Jedi through her father, but I don’t recall in any of the movies had she intentified herself as a Skywalker!
- I really do think that she DOES NOT deserve the name. NOT BECAUSE she’s not strong, she’s basically god-like now in the force, but because she has soooooooooooooo little connection to Skywalker, even if Luke and Leia had trained her. That doesn’t make her a Skywalker.
2) Rey’s journey was never about finding a NAME, but instead, of having a FAMILY.
- It’s only in Pasaana when she was asked about her last name that she seemed purturbed, but Rey was always about WANTING her own family. It’s not about just having a name or just discovering her roots. Remember, she wanted to see her parents, she wanted to know her parents, but I don’t think the longing was just to have a family name but actually to have a family- hence her seeking attachment with Han, with Luke and with Leia. She wanted a family. Which leads us to number (3)
(3) Rey ends up ALONE back in a desert
- I know there are FULL circle endings, but this ending didn’t feel like a full circle because Rey ends up ALONE in the desert WITHOUT a family, EXACTLY like she was when we first met her in Episode 7!!! So what’s the point?!
To me, her adoption of SKYWALKER rings hollow because (1) the name holds little meaning for her technically & (2) adopting that name still DOES NOT give her what she’s been seeking: a family
4) Completely disregarding the real last Skywalker
Last reason I’m not satisfied with the “Rey Skywalker” bullshit is because, it feels like the REAL last Skywalker... YEAH **BEN SOLO**, was just fucking discarded like a nobody.
Like, the force ghost of Luke and Leia looks sooooo pleased at Rey at the end and encourages her to be a Skywalker, like... I feel it’s so sad for Ben.
Yeah he was rebellious and actually, he’s the one who caused their deaths haha, but still, it’s like basically saying “Yeah Rey is our lovely new family member. Ben...? oh that problematic child, Yeah yeah, whatever.”
5) The extinction of Skywalwers
I’m incredibly upset with the ending because I really really like Star Wars and seriously, Star Wars (as Lucas had said) was supposed to be a saga about a family, the Skywalker family.
The sequel has always focused on Rey, I know, and other than Luke and Leia, there wasn’t much connection at all with the Skywalker family, which IT SHOULD’VE BEEN! Coz... it’s supposed to be about the SKYWALKER FAMILY.
So technically, that would’ve been... BEN SOLO, who is technically the last Skywalker!
And it’s really really fucked up that the ONLY person who acknowledges this fact is.... The Emperor!!!! WTF!
And then at the end of the saga ALL SKYWALKERS are DEAD DEAD DEAD. Like fuck DEAD.
But which is fineeeeeeeeeeeeee coz we all know Disney wanted to end the Skywalker family blood thing so that they can go forward with more movies without being bogged down by the original trilogy and that part of the universe.
BUTTTTTTT if Disney just wanted to do that, the LET THE NAME DIE!!!!!!
Like I have NOT heard a single original trilogy fan who said “oh yeah! It’s great! Rey being a Skywalker now”, like most have been like me “WTFFF??”
Like I think Rey’s arc and also the feeling of fans would’ve been much better if she had just said
“Rey, it’s just Rey”, at the end, like in Pasaana but with conviction and contentment- because it shows GROWTH and that she didn’t need a family to feel complete and that she’s finally over her past. And to even jive with The Last Jedi, she’s at peace with being a nobody.
I really just feel that her taking the name is soooooo undeserved and so hollow since she really, seriously, actually, has sooooooooo superficial a connection with it.
It just feels like it cheapens the whole Skywalker name and blasphemous even for Rey to take the Skywalker name.
RESOLUTION:
So.
Finally.
After watching the episode 10 times now.
Finally.
MAAAAAYBE.
I’ve found a resolution.
I’d like to think that J.J. had put some directorial though into it and it wasn’t just for dramatic effect (though I wouldn’t put it under him 🙄), that one shot where Rey FALLS dead, and then BOOM!! the LAST SKYWALKER RISES from the depths of a bottomless pit.
Ben crawls to Rey and with the last of his life, HE TRANSFER HIS LIFE FORCE TO REY.
Soooooooo... TECHNICALLY TECHNICALLY TECHNICALLY... HIS LIFE is IN her. And soooooooooooo technically technically technically... the last Skywalker resides in Rey!
Maaaaaaybe.
And, at the end, I want to believe that part of Leia’s smile is also to thank Rey for “saving” her son’s soul, and therefore, she really is like part of the family to The REAL Skywalkers!!!!
Maaaaaaybe.
Well... that’s what I’m trying to tell myself to comfort myself about the ending.
And I think... it makes sense to me.
I think....
Maaaaaaaybe.
3) Ben Solo’s Death
I found this video somewhere over-layed with Adam’s response when he was asked in an interview “What’s Kylo Ren’s song?”
Omggggggg lololll he completely spoiled the ending!!! Lolllll
Anyway,
It seems like this affected a FUCK TON of people and I mean A FUCK TON. Like needing therapy kind of affected!
ALLLLL Reylos and even some non-Reylos are complaining CRAZY complaining about this ending and threw J.J. into the fryer because Ben died.
And I TOTALLY understand their misgivings. I do think that killing Ben was totally unnecessary except to make sure that the super geek fans are not fucking rolling their eyes on the floor at the end of the movie.
But at the same time, by killing Ben, they really did botch further an already fucked up story.
I think he could’ve at least salvaged the story and made it whole by giving Rey a real family member, her dyad in the force, instead of killing him off and making her alllllllllllll aloneeeee in the end again (what’s the whole fucking point?!)
Plus, keeping Ben Solo alive would’ve kept the original trilogy Skywalker fans happy too, since Skywalker lives.
And the whole notion of a Palpatine AND a Skywalker UNITING to balance the force REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY does make a lot of narrative sense!!!!!
BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
As I said before, the blame lies NOT in J.J. but in..
FUCKING DISNEY.
Fans are blind to NOT realize that Disney doesn’t want the whole mess of an original trilogy “skywalker blood” running around in their Star Wars franchise timeline going forward!
What they didn’t realize, I suppose, is that... what? Fuck me! Rey is a BLOOD Palpatine! Fuck! So, urm urm urm.... poor Ben last skywalker was manipulated into giving his life to revive the last of a PALPATINE!
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
BONUS:
4) NO HAPPY ENDING!!!!!
So okay, if you think about it, WHAT IS STAR WARS ABOUT???
It’s a magic adventure in a galaxy far far away, a fun happy ride about a group of people, and a family, who against all odds, defeat evil to bring light to this galaxy.
How did it all go so so so so so so so so so wrong???
I think the precedence was set by Rogue One where it was “cool” and “okay” to kill everyone and Disney won’t be accused of being to “dream world”.
But the thing is that, Star Wars, in the end, even old fans forget, is not about some convoluted story of good and evil and relative morality, in the end it’s always about light side being triumphant over dark side and they all lived happily ever after.
EVERYONE forgot that!
And I think when that was not given to us, we suddenly felt its absence and recalled what it was supposed to be you know!!
If you look at all Episodes past, it’s only the Sequel that’s sooooooo fucking serious and sad AND EMPTY!!!
Episode 1 - award ceremony in Naboo
Episode 2 - I forgot but it ends with a marriage of Naboo. (Semi happy)
Episode 3 - only sad ending, Jedi in ruins, empire emerging, galaxy in chaos.
Episode 4 - Award ceremony
Episode 5 - only cliffhanger ep of the OT
Episode 6 - Stupendously happy ending with the light sight victorious, empire destroyed, anakin redeemed, all force ghost reunited. WOAH!
Episode 7 - Rebellion united but Han Dead.
Episode 8 - Rebellion decimated and LUKE DEAD
Episode 9 - Last Order defeated, rebellion united but... HAN IS DEAD, LUKE IS DEAD, LEIA IS DEAD, BEN IS DEAD, REY is ALONE.
Wtfffff kind of ending is that?????????????
Fucking DISNEY ending, that’s what!!!
You know.. fans are crucifying J.J. for the ending and thinking Rian might make it a better one. But in the end the plan is to always have all the Skywalkers dead.
There was NO WAY that Rey would ever have lived happily ever after with Ben because of Disney’s greed and corporate decision to place profits over storytelling and to MILK their Star Wars franchise dry. There’s no way any BLOOD Skywalkers would be allowed to live beyond Episode 9.
Yeah, Ben’s Death was frivolous and unnecessary. And his living on would have made the best ending possible (happy, Rey not alone, Skywalkers continue and will rise from the ashes of Exagol) Excepttttttttttt for the fact that Disney wanted to KILL the original bloodline (“kill the past. Let go of it”), so they can just carry on the franchise however they see fit without being burdened by Lucas’s creation of the past.
Resolution for this fucking shitty ending?
NONE.
Why? Because..
DISNEY, “I have spoken”.

Final (maybe) thoughts - the Dark (bad) side.
Shit I STILL hate about Rise of Skywalker and/or how the Saga ended:
1) REY SKYWALKER
Nuff said. Already explained in the other post 😤😤😤😤😤
2) Rey’s unfulfilling ending/arc
Nuff said. Already said in the other post 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤
3) Palpatine’s Plan
Like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??? WHAT??? Wtf? HAAA?? What???? What?? Saywhat???? Whaaa??
Wait that makes NO FUCKING SENSE AT ALL!!!!!!!
Seriously.
I have no problems with Palpatine being back since that can be explained, but his stupid fucking plot really makes fucking ZERO sense.
I don’t even want to get into it coz I don’t understand it one bit so I’m not even going to try to explain something that J.J. probably had no fucking clue about either except that it was just convenient to suddenly turn the plot on its head. 😒😒😒😒😒😒😒🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
4) WHERE’S THE LAST SHOWDOWN??
This was a complete fucking waste of not using the dyad in the force.
Albeit yeah, ok, we already got to see Rey and Kylo right alongside each other in the Throne Room in Episode 8.
But like FINALLY these two enemies-to-lovers once-in-generations dyads in the force, literally last hope of the lightside, they finally come together, two blue lightsabers side by side finally after decades.
BAM!!!!!!
DISARMED!!!!!!!!!!
In less than 1 second!!!!!!!!
Dude!!!!!!! They didn’t even get a chance to fight?!?!?? All they did was draw their swords?????
What kind of a stupid last battle is that?!?!!
Fucking NONSENSE!
There could’ve been an epic fight but NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Disarmed within a second!
The fuck!
4) Knights of Ren
WHAT? Another WHAT????
I’ve not even followed the existence of the Knights of Ren but fans have been anticipating their roles sooooo much because here’s a troupe of HARD CORE BADDIES, their very looks and their marching together send deathly shivers down your spine.
AND YET, they only have ONE lousy fight with Ben????
Like THAT’s it?????
We won’t see them slaughtering local natives throughout the galaxy????????
What?!?!??
🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
Another fucking waste.
5) Treatment of the last true Skywalker
I do feel sad for Adam that the stellar performance of conflicted villain was wasted on Star Wars (Yeah I said it). Like, it’s really a character the wasted his talent because in the end the creators had always intended for his character to take a backseat, even behind that of Poe and Finn, I might even dare suggest. Or at the very least, the other half of the protagonist-antagonist, and in Star Wars world, somewhat the heir of the Skywalker legacy was just relegated to a side dish.
I really really hate that.
And AGAIN to fight of all antis and haters too, like I’m seeing this PURELY from a storytelling point of view. Fuck all that fucking social bullshit and let’s just look at Star Wars as Star Wars, a fucking Sci Fi movie.
I don’t see people complaining that Marvel, sans The Black Panther and Wonder Woman, is INCREDIBLY FUCKING WHITE. Where the fuck is the representation in that franchise??? And where’s the whole LGBTQ thing too?? Did ANYONE complain that their paired white people with white people???
Like fuck off Star Wars back for fucks sake!
Just see it as a fucking Sci Fi story man! The fuck!
Aaaaaanyway, I digress.
I really hated that Kylo Ren was given up on by every single fucking so called Jedi. And even Leia had given up on him too (in the novelization) and it’s painful to hear the dialogue between Kylo and Luke when they fight because it’s soooooo obvious that Kylo’s anger is out of a sense of disappointment and perceived betrayal by Luke!!!
Andddddddd instead of trying to help pull Kylo back to the light (as he did with Vader), Luke continues to taunt Kylo and belittles him!
Like are you fucking kidding me??????
It’s so obvious that this guy is fucking hurt! And YOU were the big cause of the light extinguishing in him! He probably hates the Jedi because he saw what the Jedi made his uncle: a fucking jerk!
And Luke just fucking tricks him and makes him even mad and now everyone is mad at Kylo coz Kylo refuses to go home???? I wonder fucking why!
I’m gonna go read the Rise of Kylo Ren and see how he became dark but seriously, his whole life this guy has been abused and manipulated by the emperor, and then his family just giving up on him, and his uncle seemingly wanted to kill him.
And seriously his only *ahem* ray of light was really: Rey.
Like the only one who even tried to understood him even though he’s been nothing but a murderous snake and monster.
She’s the one who still saw light in him.
And probably the only one that cared enough not just to want but to do something to redeem him to become Ben again.
Did Luke do any fucking thing??? NO.
Fucking Jedi.
Andddddd the only other person who cared enough for him...? Not a fucking Jedi, not even a Skywalker, but a Solo. His father. The smuggler. The scoundrel. The only one who actually finally acted like a parent to this poor boy who clearly, clearly just wanted someone to love him back.
Fuck.

Final (maybe) thoughts - the Light (good) side.
OTHER RESOLUTIONS:
There were a lot of things I really really started to hate about the episode after rewatching it more and more. It’s like the more I watched it, the less it made sense, the more I felt the episode COULD HAVE done things better. But that said, I do rewatch the movie to see if I can get a different take out of it, so here are some resolutions I kinda got after some rewatch.
These parts cover the things I first hated about TROS, and then somewhat found resolutions within myself for them.
Finn
- In Episode 7, there most likely wasn’t any inclination at all by the creators to make Rey and Kylo a romantic thing. Most likely, they were probably more interested in a darkside-lightside struggle and battle. It’s really, in this case, Rian who made it a tad bit more interesting by putting in a romantic aspect and then with J.J. having to justify and to use Rey-Kylo’s connection by making them a force dyad.
- So then, which left us with Finn. Poor guy. I think he really got sidelined with Rey. Whether it be racism or just out of a story necessity, while Rian is popular with fans for his “support” of minorities in leading roles, there was a definite move to separate Finn and Rey in Episode 8, so that Rey and Kylo’s relationship can be developed.
- so that said, Finn was FUCKING ANNOYING in Episode 9. Like seriously, it made him like this guy who’s constantly chasing after a dog in heat. Seriously. INCREDIBLY fucking annoying. His character could’ve been used to do so much more! (Like in Episode 8!), but instead he was just made to be like this lovelorn guy WHILE the whole time, Rey is battling this demon inside her while being egged on by her jerk ex-crush whom probably she knows as much as she hates him, he’s probably the only one closest to understanding how she feels.
- While some people said that Rey pushed Finn back with the force (more like shoved!) to protect him, I didn’t feel that way. Not even after watching so many times. It was clear she was angry with Kylo and this was between HER and KYLO and she was clearly telling him to BACK OFF!
Resolution:
I talked to a friend and told him about how I hated that Finn was soooooo pathetic and annoying for chasing Rey, but he told me that he was chasing after her to prevent her from falling to the dark side.
That actually made A LOT of sense to me and I really think so. Finn was trying to tell Rey the whole time that he’s force sensitive, so he probably understands her feeling and he knows what she’s going through. So he’s trying to stop her from going to the dark side.
He said it to Poe
Finn: We need to go after her. She’s not herself. You dont know what she’s going through.
Poe: And you do?
Finn: Yeah I do. And so does Leia.
I think he says “and so does Leia” because it implies force users.
And when he goes to the Death Star, she’s already possessed at that point and completely giving into the dark in her rage to hill Kylo, and that’s why he keeps going to her.
Then she fucking shoved him away, like, it really shows she’s in the dark now!
So Yeah... looking at it from the point of view that he’s trying to protect his bestie, not from Kylo Ren, but from herself, I think his whole fucking REYYYYYYY!! REEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY! REEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! the whole episode ain’t that annoying afterall.
Dark Rey
- I think this one I kinda blame not just J.J. and the team but I also think part of it is due to Daisy too.
- Firstly, seriously, Rey is lightside as fuck! Like okay not lightside, but she really DOES have the purest of hearts and there is NO WAY IN HELL (or Exagol) that she would EVER turn dark.
In her lowest of low, saddest and loneliest moment, she had REJECTED Kylo and his proposal to rule with darkness.
It was COMPLETELY unbelievable and so so so so shallow that she would ever turn to the dark side just because she finds out that she’s a Palpatine.
Haaaaa? WHAT?????? Completely unbelievable! Utter rubbish!
So anyway, to leave the whole Palpatine Sith thing aside, and let’s just talk about “dark side” of force fighting, Rey has always been fighting with dark side haha.
Rey is always emotional in her fights, always charged with some kind of strong emotion (whether trying to defeat Kylo in Ep 7 or wanting to KILL SNOKE in ANGER Ep 8, or knocking Luke down and almost killing him in Ep 8), she’s always fought with emotions, which is NOT the way of the Jedi.
So that aside, to talk about the context of Episode 9 and Rey’s struggle, which is why I think Daisy is definitely an inferior actor compared to Adam.
I think Daisy plays anger and sadness well (Ep 8 in all her loneliness and also in the throne room when Kylo breaks her heart), and she does strong emotions very very well, but she doesn’t play subtleties well, and absolutely not to the degree that Adam mastered it with Kylo.
Like you can’t tell the difference between Rey’s emotionally charged fights/moments in the past, with her seemingly becoming more and more dark in Episode 9. They all seem the same to me.
Except for that scene in the ship when she talks to Finn after killing Chewy where she did fear incredibly well, in the other scenes you can’t tell if Rey is feeling anger or fear or what? How is she turning dark? You can’t see the change.
This is unlike Kylo where Adam’s slight relaxation in his expressions show hesitation (Kylo not blasting his mom away), or even just the slight quiver in his voice when he says “(you can’t go back to her) just like I can’t”, or the desperation is Adam’s little “please”. A fleeting moment, so subtle, yet so powerfully conveyed.
Sorry, but Daisy didn’t deliver Rey’s conflict anywhere close to that of Adam with Kylo.
I think the biggest failure of this were in BOTH of the MOST CRUCIAL scene for her character’s development.
The first: in the hangar where Kylo tells Rey her parentage.
Yes, you could see first the shock in Rey, and when Kylo gives her his hand (not again) and says “you know what you must do, don’t you?”..
Then the camera is on Daisy and Rey is thinking, then she says “I do”.
Then she flees.
Like, firstly, her expression when Kylo offers her his proposal was unclear. Was she conflicted? Did she want to give in this time? Was still still in shock?
Then when she changes and says “I do”.
You can see her facial expression change, but it’s not clear enough to convey Rey’s decision to kill Palpatine.
The “I do” felt more like “yeah I do know I don’t want to fucking take your hand so goodbye!”, instead of the life changing decision of “I’m gonna kill that motherfucker who killed my parents and robbed me of a family!! Die you fucking asshole!!”
Nope.
Totally not obvious in that scene.
Took me like 3 watch to figure out that OHHHHHH she meant she knows she have to kill Palpatine! 🤦🏻‍♀️
The second failure: In the confrontation with Palpatine.
I don’t know but maybe Daisy AGAIN didn’t convey the weight of that moment subtly but powerfully enough (sigh.....), so it’s really unclear what drove her to say okay. I think Daisy’s acting, as I said, is not at all on par with Adam’s level when it comes to portraying a change of emotions at the turn of a coin.
Actually maybe actually in this case I lay the blame on J.J. who was probably horrendous in conveying to Daisy what her character was feeling. So as a director it was HE who fucked up directions.
Coz I thought Daisy played a conflicted Rey well in the love-disappointment-hate really, really, really, well in Episode 8’s throne room scene between and unrepentant Kylo and a heartbroken Rey.
Butttttt the ENTIRE ending sequence dialogue between Rey and Palpatine was sooooooo vague.
The entire sequence where she looks up at the Rebellion fleet being destroyed, you can’t tell if Rey is angry? Sad? Desperate? Devastated? Fearful?
The emperor mentions hate hate and anger first but when she first saw the emperor I felt Rey’s feeling was FEAR.
Then when she really defiantly says “you want me to hate you but I don’t”. Like it just takes away the anger motivation.
Which is when the emperor opens up the roof to show her the rebellion and she has some sort of reaction. But the look on Daisy’s face is not of anger or hate but more of like fear and heartbreak and sadness that her friends are in trouble and are dying.
You can’t tell at all, whether Rey indeed was hating the Emperor but it was CRUCIAL to know her feelings because it’s the impetus that drives her decision to be a Sith or not, and according to Sith/Jedi ways of fighting, the emotions behind the kill is what differentiates the two.
If she kills in fear to save her friends- it’s self defense is it not? Hence how can the sith posses her then?
But if she strikes in anger, then the sith can.
But it’s incredibly vague what she was feeling and NOT AT ALL CONVINCING that Rey is being engulfed by darkness.
Unless of course it’s despair, which leads to the darkside, and I think like if that was indicated, Rey’s pull to become the Sith would’ve been clearer and more convincing.
At last, it ALSO rang cheap and hollow.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Resolution (somewhat)
So watching and rewatching the episode again, I realized that.. Rey was super angry with Kylo... lolololll
I’m not sure if this is considered Rey becoming Dark, but she was super pissed with Kylo, and he always drives (hm!) the anger in her tempting her to the darkside, somwhat almost succeeding this time.
So in their first showdown in the second force tug-of-war over Chewie’s transport, it was when Rey got super angry with her asshole ex-crush that she unleashed her darkside force KABOOM!
Then, in the second showdown his his quarters (sexy), the moment he called her name “Rey”, fucking hell, she drew her lightsaber immediately andddd instead of reacting in FEAR “oh shit! Supreme leader found me!” it was more like “not you fucking asshole again! Fuck off!!!!”.
And the more he talked, the angrier she got. And like, I don’t think Kylo was taunting her like he did in TLJ when he called her nothing, he was trying to get her to accept what she is, but she’s the one who’s in denial and got more and more angry with him trying to tell her to face the truth (albeit for selfish reasons of his own to make her realize she can’t resist the dark side).
So at that time, you kinda feel Rey’s angry and she’s just attacking Kylo. That totally not fucking Jedi way of fighting! But then again... she was just trying to shut him up???
And finally, the Death Star scene, which is pivotal to say the least! (for both Kylo and Rey!)
I’m still not too convinced that meeting Dark Rey in the imperial vault was Rey’s turning point to the darkside. I felt the vault is like the dark cave in a Jedi’s training when they face their worst fears. Dark Rey is Rey’s worst fear. So I don’t think it’s what she has become.
That’s why when Kylo says “look what you have become” and “you can’t go back to her (Leia) now”, I don’t think it’s too true. Not yet anyway.
But I do think that Rey was fucking pissed off at Kylo from the get go and when she snapped “Give it to me”, it was pure anger and Adam inserted a slight reaction there which I still interpret as “oh shit scarryyyy!!”. Haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scary!Rey!
Then, when he crushed the Sith Wayfinder, I think that’s when Rey really fucking snapped!
I’m not sure if she snapped because (1) fucking Kylo Ren ruined my chance to find and kill the emperor!! Or (2) fucking Kylo Ren give up already! Do I have fucking kill you to break up with you??? Fucccckkk dieeeee!!
From then on, you can really see that she’s fighting with hate and anger towards Kylo.
Will probably write a separate thing about Kylo-Rey fights but Rey hasn’t really fought will Kylo with totally intent to kill. She’s always been fighting him off to FLEE, but on the Death Star, at the beginning, she was really fighting to kill him once and for all.
And in the part where she force pushed away Finn, her last thread of sanity to the lightside, she’s really warped in the sole intent to kill Kylo in her anger and hate.
And she DOES fucking stabs him to death when after he INTENTIONALLY dropped his own lightsaber and was technically HEY! **UNARMED!!!**
So basically Rey killed an unarmed person in anger and hatred.
And if you look at her facial expression when she stabbed the fuck out of Kylo, it was anger!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anddddddddd it’s only when she sensed Leia’s death that she snapped out of her trance and realized OH FUCK! What have I done?!?! Oh shit!! I killed her son!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anddddddddddd which is why I think her reaction after that was soooo extreme that she decided to run off and become a hermit in Ahch-to, coz she knew what she could become and HAD BECOME indeed in that fleeting moment.
Kylo on the other hand, I think at first, he was not intending to kill her (the only way you’re coming to Exagol is with me), but the last part where Rey flies above the waves but then Kylo just comes through the wave MASSIVELY (as Daisy would put it ;) ) and walked directly to her, I think Kylo did decide to kill her at that time and which is why FINALLY he got the upper hand.
Rey’s reaction to Ben’s Death.
Ive already touched on Ben’s death in another post, so I’ll touch on her reaction (or lack of one) instead in this post.
Many maaaaaannnyyy people were complaining and upset that Rey didn’t even so much as shed a tear when her force dyad died. No mourning or anything at all. In fact she was even sadder when Finn was almost killed!
Which is allllllll true and valid arguments which added to my feeling that Ben Solo the last true Skywalker was completely discarded.
Resolution
I’d like to think of her reaction, firsr when he falls, you can see that she was about to cry, then suddenly she relaxes and looks relieved holding on to his hand as his body disappears and becomes one with the force.
Tumblr media
I want to believe that Rey could feel his presence in the force, even though his physical body vanishes. And, being a dyad in the force, and also since he did transfer all his force energy to her, perhaps just perhaps, his half of the dyad force reunites in her at that moment, which is why, she doesn’t feel sad, and which is why his force ghost doesn’t appear. He is now part of her, technically, recombined back together in her.
Also like.... I think... Ben would not have wanted her to be alone and lonely, because he know how lonely she has been her whole life.
But making the choice to give his life to her, he wanted her to be alive.
And I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have wanted her to be alone. So, I’m sure she still feels his force connection somewhere in the force. Plus remember the force voices telling her “alone never have you been” (Yoda).
Or so I want to think.
(My heart is going with oh please just let them fuck and have babies instead and combine their force in them babies instead!!! Bleh)
Other Observations/Realizations
Kylo’s transformation into Ben Solo
So a lot of people have already pointed out how Kylo’s demeanor had changed 180 degrees after he became Ben Solo.
There’s a whole brilliant thread somewhere here on Tumblr or Twitter (I think it’s Twitter), that analyzed Adam’s facial portrayal of Kylo and Ben. How Kylo is always wearing an expressionless unnatural mask even without an actual mask on but how his espressions completely relax and become natural after he comes Ben Solo again.
(Dude if this theory is true, just adds another feather on Adam’s hat! Seriously!)
And of course, there are also other similarities between Ben and the Solo moves he pulls, like using his blaster without looking, and how he’s like “heh, bring it on” with the Knights of Ren.
But I think, one of the biggest change in Ben that can be seen was Adam’s very last line: “ow” when he lands on the chain after jumping into the hole in Exegol.
Like everyone was saying in Episode 7, that even after being blasted by Chewie’s bow, Kylo toughens himself up by hitting his wound and seemingly showing no signs of pain.
But here, just with one word: “ow”- Ben Solo reclaims his humanity.
Brilliant!
Ben Solo’s arrival to help Rey
In the end, I would like to think that.. haha.. Ben defied his father’s advice to return home and “what she stood for, what she fought for, that’s not dead”.
I always wondered about that line, like was Han asking him to go to the rebellion base to help the Rebellion? Like isn’t that home? Or was he asking Ben to help the rebellion.
I think it’s the latter of course, but of course by help, he races to find Rey. Lolololll
On the first watch, I always thought that Rey didn’t sense Ben’s presence right until before they force connected themselves when Rey was holding the lightsaber.
But on second watch and subsequent viewings, I realized that she actually felt his presence the moment he landed.
The introduction of Ben Solo on Exagol was a side profile shot of Adam coming into frame, then he runs into the massive building.
The side profile shot of Ben cuts to a side profile shot of Rey, who until that moment was frozen in terror of the choice she’s being forced to make.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But once Ben arrives, she just turns to the emperor as if nothing and just nods her head like “yep ok sure let’s go with what you just said” and easily agreed.
And if you look at Daisy’s acting and how Rey turns to face the emperor when she senses Ben’s presence nearby (but not her ForceTime her) .
And remember every time before they actually ForceTime connect, they sense each other’s presence FIRST, then only connect and exist in the same space together.
So this was the moment they felt each other before, they finally dailed into each other’s physical presence later here:
Tumblr media
I don’t know but maybe Daisy AGAIN didn’t convey the weight of that moment subtly but powerfully enough (sigh.....), so it’s really unclear what drove her to say okay. I don’t think Daisy’s acting, as I said, is to Adam’s level when it comes to portraying a change of emotions at the turn of a coin.
Actually maybe actually in this case J.J. was also probably horrendous in conveying to Daisy what her character was feeling.
The entire sequence where she looks up at the Rebellion fleet being destroyed, you can’t tell if Rey is angry? Sad? Desperate? Devastated? Fearful?
You can’t tell at all, and I think it’s so important to know because it’s the impetus that drives her decision to be a Sith or not, and according to Sith/Jedi ways of fighting, the emotions behind the kill is what differentiates the two.
If she kills in fear to save her friends- it’s self defense is it not? Hence how can the sith posses her then?
But if she strikes in anger, the the sith can.
But it’s incredibly vague what she was feeling.
But anyway, whatever it was, I feel on more viewings, it’s clear she probably felt Ben’s presence, coz she turned around really quickly and like hiding a secret, to keep the emperor from realizing, she just nods “yes”.
And then she gets more and more and more fearful and worried as she moment approaches to kill the emperor but her boyfriend’s late.
So I think when she finally feels him close enough and the opportunity is there, and their FaceTime finally gets through, she completely relaxes and knows it’s gonna be okay.
Transferring the lightsaber via their upgraded ForceTime2.0 was a brilliant move.
And I really really like that after Ben defeats the Knights of Ren, he like snaps out of it and you can see him “oh no! (My girlfriend) Rey!” and anxiousness floods his face and he quickly runs to the sith throne room.
TIE fighter & the X-Wing
While some Reylo’s read this one specific shot of Ben’s TIE fighter and Rey’s X-Wing being side by side as proof that the both of them were meant to survive and go back together, I didnt think nor feel so.
I think the shot was representation of the decades-long fight between the empire (the TIE fighter) and the rebellion (the X-Wing) parked side by side, coming together, UNITED and AT LAST fighting side by side together.
Kylo-Rey Battles
I realized that Kylo never really seeks to kill Rey EVER.
ALL his fights were to actually get her to join his side.
Even from the very first fight in the forest, her tells her “you need a teacher. I can teach you the ways of the force”.
And from then on, he never actually kills her.
Even after his vow to destroy Rey and the rebellion at the end of Episode 8, does he actually goes out to kill them? NO. Instead he’s hunting for Palpatine. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Except for the lightsaber tug-of-war, there’s no Kylo-Rey battles in Episode 8.
Which leads us to Episode 9, where they had a total of 4 confrontations.
The first transport tug-of-war frigging Rey’s the one who slices his TIE fighter. Then he doesn’t kill her or tries to fight with her, instead they engage in a toy-fighting. What.
Then second in his chambers and Kajimi. As I mentioned in an earlier post, SHE was the one striking him, and he merely just wanted to talk. What!
Then the third in the hanger, AGAIN, ample opportunity to fight, but instead, they just talk AND he proposes marriage, AGAIN!
Then finally at the Battle on the Death Star wreckage, it was REY who drew her lightsaber AGAIN first!
And you could see Adam doing Kylo like dropping his hands “not again girl, aren’t you tired of fighting??”
Anddddddd so on the Death Star, as I had mentioned, I don’t think Kylo wanted to kill Rey at the start of the fight, which I felt was the usually defensive fight.
But, at the very end when Kylo is walking determinedly towards Rey, he FINALLY makes up his mind to kill her, which is why FOR ONCE he actually got the upper hand and was able to overpower her.
BUTTTTTTTTTT watching and rewatching the episode, i also think that it’s possible that when Rey cried after being disarmed, Kylo hesitated for a moment to deal the fatal blow and it’s in that split second of an opening that Leia reaches him. And he completely senses his mother and discarded his saber..... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 so sadddddddd so in the end he’s just mommy’s boyyyyyyyyy wanting to be loved by his mommmmm!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔

Where it all went wrong...
I know many people said that it was sloppy writing and I totally think it was. However, that said, I felt they just didn’t have time and probably also just gave up in the end.
I think, the last episode should’ve been split into two Episodes.
But more than that, I feel that half the blame lies in The Last Jedi.
I’m sorry but I think it was The Last Jedi that went completely out of whack and off course!!, that it was going to be difficult to bring an end to the series in a way that would wrap things up and make sense.
I’m sorry but I disagree with both Reylo’s and some other people who were rooting for the whole “force belongs to everyone” angle.
Sorry, but NO.
Not that the force can’t belong to everyone, I think it does!
I never believed that the force only belonged to the Jedi or the Sith.
I think people become force sensitive, and people can come to possess the force. Which is why they then become Jedis.
Like if Jedis can’t get married and whatever, then where did all the younglings come from??
I never believed that Luke was the absolute Last Jedi. Yeah okay, I think he was the Last Jedi but definitely NOT the last Force User.
I’ve always felt and agreed with what Rian Johnson was trying to say, that the force doesn’t belong to the Jedi or to the sith. That there MUST BE force users everywhere. For example, his other students besides Ben.
BUT yes, in terms of people practicing the way of the Jedi, then yeah, Luke was the last of them.
BUT that said, it’s BULLSHIT that Rey could master the force and defeat Kylo UNTRAINED. Like after episode 7, EVERYONE was speculating about her family and her background. Like being old fans of Star Wars and knowing what we know about Star Wars and the force, there’s NO WAY that someone can be such a powerful force user WITHOUT being the child of a great force user!! Fuck what Rian was trying to say about Rey being a nobody. THAT doesn’t make sense!
Andddd acrually more than it doesn’t make sense, I think if Rey was made to remain as a nobody and still became this SUPER GODLIKE force user with minimal training, then I feel it just fucking NEGATES everything that Anakin Skywalker was supposed to be. It’s really spiting in the face of fans.
I hated Rian’s Star Wars because you know you don’t need to make point by spitting in the face of tradition. Like, fuck you. You and your proletariat take on a fucking franchise that soooo many people hold so dear to them. You just don’t fucking spit on tradition and throw away the fucking lightsaber. You can make a new point without having to shit on your predecessors. So fuck TLJ.
However, I do think both directors were given a directive by Disney: we want to steer the franchise AWAY from one rigid storyline tied to ONE family and make the franchise more plebeian.
Rian’s take was to make Rey and nobody and every fucking Tom, Dick and Rose and Finn to be able to have the force.
BUT, if THAT had been the original intention, I don’t think J.J. should’ve made Rey SOOOOOOO powerful in episode 7!!! It just doesn’t make sense!
I think if Rey had just STARTED to feel the force, and maybe like, manage to EVADE Kylo ( a TRAINED force user both darkside and light side AND grandson of Darth Vader!) instead of inflicting a permanent wound on him, I think Rian’s take would’ve made some sense AND there wouldn’t have been a stupid plot device need for Palpatine to return.
Since J.J. DID make Rey so stupidly strong in the very first installment, he must have had in mind some kind of background for her. Even the flashbacks made it clear, there must be a reason for her abandonment, and also a reason for her need for a family. J.J. was definitely trying to hint at something being in her background!!!
SOOOOOO, I feel, it’s Episode 8 that fucked up big time.
And I felt fucking Episode 8 wasted SOOOOOOOOO much precious screen time on a stupid side quest plot that in the end had no fucking meaning whatsoever.
Like, you know if you take away the whole Canto Bight bullshit or maybe cut it down by half, there would’ve been more time to devote to actual important things that DOES progress the story like Rey-Kylo’s relationship, Rey’s training and relationships with Luke, Luke’s own psychology and past and what happened to him to make him a hermit, SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SOOOO much more time and OPPORTUNITY that were just squandered the fuck away.
Seriously, sorry but I will ALWAYS hate The Last Jedi for that.
And NO, I’m not being racist. I’m Asian too. I’m just saying that as a Star Wars fan who place more importance on the ACTUAL FUCKING STORY than like “ohhhh need for representation!”. Yeah there’s a need for representation but what’s the point of the representation if it fucks shit up. I hate it when movies like fucking Star Wars which is just a fucking action adventure Sci fi movie trying to be a fucking thought provoking drama and social commentary. Rian, please save your social commentary for an actual movie that’s about that! Not a fucking blow up ships from outer space movie. Seriously.
Yeah okay, you want to talk about the story of the common people, but seriously, it could’ve been done more succinctly. There’s just nooooo time for all the stories you want to tell! You gotta choose your battle and I think Rian chose stupidly and fucked shit up.
And like.. I don’t think the Palpatine thing would’ve been so sudden IF, say, INSTEAD of the stupid 1/3 of the movie that they wasted on Canto Bight, let’s cut the 1/3 down to 1/4, the last part of The Last Jedi could’ve been used to INTRODUCE Palpatine back!!!
Like imagine if like everyone thinks Snoke is dead, imagine the last scene, we see a shot of the emperor on Exagol and all the lighting and all that going “good good, everything is as I’ve forseen”- like that last scene in Rogue One where Darth Vader comes in and starts slaughtering people. It’d be like a super fucking cliffhanger!!!!!
Last Jedi is dead! Rebellion is decimated! Palpatine returns! OH SHIT!!!!
Waaaay better!
Fucking Rian fucked up seriously.
And I’m sorry but Reylos should see beyond Adam’s half naked hunky body (almost impossible I know I know toooooootallllyyyyh understand) and Rey and Kylo’s thirsty look at each other in the elevator, and just realize that, other than those Reylo moments, the fucking episode is SHIT.
Seriously, as Micheal had asked, I also want to ask those fans complaining that TROS is shit compared to TLJ, how would they think Episode 9 would’ve gone if Rian was at the helm?
Reylos, I’m sorry to say this but, the conclusion would’ve been the same: Ben Solo will DIE.
In fact, PROBABLY at the hands on Rey.
Many people are saying that Palpatine was an easy excuse to absolve Kylo of his sins since he was under the control of Palpatine all this time and he wouldn’t be supreme leader again, but let’s go with where rian left it: Rey SHUT the door on Kylo and severed their connection and Kylo is now the Supreme Leader and has by all accounts not only turned completely dark but has turned down completely any chance of joining Rey in the light.
So which would mean that the final showdown would’ve been between Rey and Kylo.
Anddddd going with the fact that Disney DOES NOT in any way want the franchise to continue with connections to the original Skywalker family, Kylo Ren MUST die in Episode 9.
And, most likely, Rey.. well the only other force user, would’ve had to kill him.
You like that more Reylo????
As for Kylo’s redemption, I think it’s probably always there. If they had filmed Leia lying down and all that, and the fact that Kylo continuously have a soft spot not just for Rey but also his mom, I wonder if Leia had always been written to be the one who saves Ben Solo.
But Reylos, WAKE UP. There’s no way Disney would’ve allowed Ben Solo to live beyond Episode 9 because welll.... HE is the LAST TRUE SKYWALKER!

Crochet.
So.
I wanted to make Hoshino a Christmas present last year. I didn’t want to make a scarf coz that’s too “heavy” a present. So I decided to make socks. He can (or maybe don’t have to) wear it at home and, it’s something that no one can see.
I started off with this yarn
Tumblr media
But it’s seemed toooooooooo red.
So I changed the yarn to a nicer color but... it turned out too thick!!!!!!!!
So in the end, instead of socks, I ended up making him basically knitted crocs 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media
Yeah.
So but anyway.
Turns out I do like crocheting actually. I think once you kinda learn how to figure out how to recognize the stitches, it gets easier.
Anyway, other stuff I made:
Purse for Tomomi:

“I don’t understand why we continually hurt ourselves by choosing people who only make us feel small. We go back to the ones who wrecked our hearts and caused us pain. We confuse history with chemistry and falling in love with a concept of time. It’s a way of thinking that traps you in mediocrity. We replay a highlight reel of moments of bliss to justify the pain. We sell ourselves short. What happened to our 5-year-old confidence? We believed we were superheroes and princesses, and we dreamed of being grand when we grew up. Now that we’ve grown, how much have we settled for? We go to school to get a degree in something we don’t care for because society tells us what good majors will give us jobs that pay a livable wage. We lose passion because we are influenced to think we can’t find the balance between loving life and living it. We lose our innocence, and we lose that childlike quality of trying to be grand. What happened to the idea of romance and true love? What about the grand romances we saw in Disney movies? Why has love become something we settle for among all the other things? In relationships, there’s always one who molds the other. The other person will start even thinking like the other, and a total imbalance occurs. In this imbalance, you have one who controls the thoughts and actions of both, while the other person just quietly lets his or her partner shine. That is not love. We believe the length of a relationship equals the amount of love we have for someone. I don’t believe in that equation. A person who believes in true love chases the feelings dreams are made of. There is no perception of time, there are no broken hearts with the right one and no one is outshining the other. The chaser of love values connection, not the idea true love equals the most amount of time you spend with someone. True love is more than time spent. This generation loves the person who can be shown off on Instagram. Man Crush Mondays and Women Crush Wednesdays are a part of the highlight reel of fictitious images that portray something grand. But, this superficial love is one I see often. Why are we so obsessed with the portrayal of a relationship rather than the actual relationship? I get it; being happy is scary, and being comfortable is easy. You fall into a pattern of life, and you realize you’re only with someone because you feel like so much time was invested. You won’t get hurt, and you don’t have to try very hard. That person is always just there. The chase is done, or maybe it never even happened. Love is when your heart has been broken, and someone gives you part of his or her own heart to fix yours. We confuse history with chemistry. People don’t change, so we romanticize the one we adore. In reality, you are only fooling yourself. It’s a cycle that will only leave you heartbroken. If history is the only thing that binds you two together, the time spent together will feel like an obligation. Choose the one who makes a positive impact on your heart and soul. Choose the one who grows with you and doesn’t extinguish your fire. Choose someone who is your best friend. Find someone who compliments you and doesn’t complete you. You are whole on your own. You will not find yourself in another person. Fill yourself up with your own dreams, goals, success and love. True love will find you. Some love stories aren’t amazing novels. Some are short stories. That doesn’t make them any less filled with love, and that doesn’t mean the short time spent together wasn’t real. Keep your view of the world through the eyes of a child. They have an innocence about them that is unpretentious and very real. It seems as you grow into adulthood we lose that innocent way of thinking that anything is possible. Once you lose it, you start talking through past tenses of memories. Keep that spirit alive, and keep that mindset when discovering love. There is no equation for true love, but don’t fall into mediocrity and comfort with the concept of time.”

Soooooo... On Saturday, Reiko and I decided to go have dinner at the Malaysian restaurant in Ogikubo!! As per usual, we had my favorites: nasi lemak, kangkung belacan, assam laksa!!! We also had paper chicken which Reiko really liked!! And to top it off, the owner of the restaurant, a Malaysian from Ipoh named Ellen, treated us to lou sang!!! It was a really wonderful treat because it was nice to have a piece of home, so far away, with a bunch of strangers. At the end of the night, I did feel, like I always do after hanging out, that I'm happy to be here in Japan :)

I think.. Sugar taught me the permanence of death. Sometimes... Like when Aki doesn't reply my emails or when some guys ignore me, or when I just think about how humans just treat each other so callously... I just want to say "you're dumb". Because the person who's trying to communicate with you isn't dead. And you're not dead. So while we're all still alive and breathing, why are we choosing instead to ignore people, to shut them off and to cut them out? You know, when that person is dead, even as much as you want to communicate with them again, YOU CAN'T. So while you can, while we all can, still, talk to each other, I think we should. "don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool by making this world a little colder"

After all these years, I'm still always incredibly impressed by the KLCC. I think it's truly a majestic building to behold.
