I know, I have a problem. I've never been freaked out enough about a show before to watch an entire (short) season without subtitles. I'm over here trying to look up words. It's ridiculous. But I did watch the entirety of Zettai BL 2024 despite the lack of subtitles and I took some Sekoguchi Ryo screenshots. Of course I did, how could I not?

A couple of caveats in case these might create certain expectations:

As you'll know if you saw the first two seasons, Mob sometimes imagines some pretty vivid scenarios as he strategizes about how to avoid traps.

[Spoiler warning] Mob and Hatano end up costarring in a BL drama. If you pay attention, it should be pretty obvious from these images when they're working/in character versus being themselves.

Wish me luck as I try to stop obsessing, or at least decrease this obsession to manageable levels. While we're wishing, please send all of your strongest vibes into the universe to ask for some kind of international streaming and/or fansubs on this thing. That would definitely help me to calm the fuck down.

(Kazuhito is going through things thanks to his unrequited feelings and Ryota's attempts at making Kazuhito feel better or things less awkward between them are just making it harder for Kazuhito who is unable to get away Ryota, whom he lives with, or from his feelings for Ryota.)

(... I mean,) things are hard for you too, huh... Note: Ryota says "つか", which is kind of a continuation of a thought or conversation in this case, which relates to how put together and perfect Kazuhito tries to present himself.

Living With Him Ep 3 Stray Thoughts

Last week, Natsukawa met some of Kazuhito's friends, who both clearly know about Kazuhito's crush. Kazuhito continued to be so, so gay about the heterosexual assumptions about him. We left at Natsukawa picking up on the potential crush and asking Kazuhito to kiss him.

No kiss, eh? Don't let me down.

I like the Natsukawa family.

I was wondering about the mom's look earlier. Knowing her son's habits and when he's worried so she can pull him aside gently says a lot about their relationship.

Wow he went immediately from being encouraged by his mom to confessing his uncertainty to Kazuhito, and then Kazuhito made it clear that he's very serious about liking Natsukawa. Incredible. I love this.

You weren't going to tell him?? Baby boy, you have been flirting nonstop.

Y'all I'm gonna cry. Ryoto feels the need to acknowledge or respond to Kazuhito's feelings and is legit asking how he can help manage them.

This was an incredible episode of BL. Normally we spend time angsting over this for one or more episodes. I love that the friendship between these two is so secure that they can be open about how they're feeling and find a way to move forward. I'm curious if we'll continue to tick-tock interacting with the friends. I'm going to be thinking about the open communication about this crush until next week at least.

Zettai BL posted a photo from the set of the opening credits. Y’all, it is something else.

That’s Sekoguchi Ryo on the far left in the outfit with the yellow/orange fringe. And quite the ensemble it is!

It always seemed pretty danged likely he’d be in the credits number, but it’s nice to have that confirmed. If things go the way they did in past seasons, this also means we’re going to see him dancing and singing. And doing at least one of those absurdly flirty interstitial bits.

I still haven’t heard any news about international distribution/streaming, but hope springs eternal.

Note: Their discussion of "stylishness" is tied to being fashionable/cool/trendy, which Ryota struggles with. (I think this is also related to how different Kazuhito seems to be from Ryota, who try as he may, cannot become as effortlessly cool as Kazuhito. On the other hand, Kazuhito seems to like Ryota's naturalness, which Ryota mentions as not having much awareness of fashion or what is fashionable.)

Note: Kazuhito uses the rude casual form to tell Eri to stop asking Ryota for his contact information, which is a departure from the usual polite casual form, which he tends to use.

Note: A family restaurant is as the term suggests, a restaurant that caters to families and younger people. A big draw of these restaurants is the affordability of food and convenience of these restaurants, because many family restaurants are chains and some of the restaurants are open 24 hours. In other words, they aren't fancy or stylish and aren't special or nice, which is what Ryota's sisters are protesting about. (More info)

can I just say. I grew up in Trinidad. I miss the trans women :( it's changed. I wish they'd remember.

For those just looking in, this is a reference to a book I just read called Going to Trinidad, which is nonfiction with the summary:

"For more than four decades, between 1969 and 2010, the remote former mining town of Trinidad, Colorado was the unlikely crossroads for approximately six thousand medical pilgrims who came looking for relief from the pain of gender dysphoria. The surgical skill and nonjudgmental compassion of surgeons Stanley Biber and his transgender protege Marci Bowers not only made the phrase “Going to Trinidad” a euphemism for gender confirmation surgery in the worldwide transgender community, but also turned the small outpost near the New Mexico border into what The New York Times once called “the sex-change capital of the world.”"

The book explores the realities of this, as well as some of the patients who had varying experiences with earlier iterations of gender confirmation surgery and the medical system around that. One of the things it talks about is the erasure of this history, and I can definitely understand how that would feel for someone who actually lived through the transition. One of the reasons queer history is so vital to share is because of things like this, if the town had its way, it might have disappeared from the collective memory.
