The JonElias fans keep on truckin' beautifully and Hosta and myself would love to make another zine celebrating these two and their relationship. If you'd be interested in participating or buying the zine, please spread the word and fill out our interest form!
Never understood the collective vehement resentment of small talk lol i hate the painful grind of small talk as much as the next person but i think id rather shrivel up and die than be denied nuggets of joy found in standing in an elevator and having a middle aged woman compliment my nails or bonding fleetingly with a cafegoer over the city's temperamental weather it's so integral to nurturing & cultivating the soul i think
Everyone gets “The 90s” look wrong so let’s fix it
If you weren’t here for part one, lemme sum it up real fast:
Okay, all up to speed? We’re being served 80s throwback stuff with the serial numbers scratched off, re-labeled as yo totally 90s. What we’ve got now isn’t completely wrong, but I’m telling you, there’s so much gold left unmined.
As we saw in part one with Memphis Milano, these things get messy. Trends don’t start and end neatly every ten years. The first wave of 90s throwback attempts focused on the early part of the decade, and nobody since really pushed to represent the other seven years. Well, if you really wanna do something, I guess you gotta do it yourself.
I have suggestions. Get your flannel ready, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover.
"objectively physically attractive but in possession of negative rizz" is one of my favorite character concepts. i think it's so great when there's an absurdly hot person who's just a complete fucking loser. the mood is unsalvageable the moment they open their mouth kind of deal. you get no bitches because you're so sucks.
Enemies-to-lovers, but instead of featuring a villain redemption arc, the heroic one is getting progressively more corrupt, unhinged and fucked up, and the one who was originally the clear-cut villain out of the two is just like "well mark me down as scared and horny"
thinking more about the idea that the TMA fear entities exist in a weakened state in the TMAGP universe. in TMA, fear entities (especially the Eye) had the power to draw people into analyzing and philosophizing about exactly what made the entity effective - the meatpacker talking about the thoughts and feelings of the animals he killed, the programmer talking about the nature of consciousness and death, the mortician talking about the idea of decay and rot and how it affects her - with many characters having a "...sorry, I'm rambling" moment where they snap out of a fear-induced monologue.
needles, on the other hand, has to explicitly spell out the aspects of him that are supposed to be scary, and even then, it doesn't get much of a reaction. he has to maim a man nearly to death to get a fear meal out of him. this man is not being boosted by a powerful patron the way TMA avatars were. he's a scavenger on the outskirts of something that hasn't been revealed yet.
this may not be a popular take, but i did kind of enjoy sam asking alice to tone down the...basically, constant passive aggressive plausibly deniable bullying?
i know people enjoy the dialogue as a comic relief thing, but how many of you would really enjoy having a friend be THIS much on your ass in literally every conversation? especially when there's a constant undercurrent that the quips are covering up something deeper
