I've doodled so much these past couple days that my pen ran low on ink😩 i added water as you can probably tell on the yellow page. it's now a grey ink instead, and it's a lot less satisfying tbh!! i got this micro brush tip pen at the dollar tree, so for $1,25 im not complaining!

i started writing about them each in single-character descriptions and then quickly realized that what i care about is their relationships… and their complete incompetence at the basic required qualities of “clones made so that one person can get a lot of things done”—they fail to be one person, and they don’t get a lot done.

The clones thing isn't cringe it's really interesting to me tell us more?

i’m just obsessed with the concept of them because they’re like family but with an even more entangled sense of self. they’re like dissociative states but with 6x more capacity to cause trouble for one another. they’re like doppelgangers but more intimate. they’re like the selves you imagine you might nearly have been but you have to share an apartment with them. theyre an ant colony with no queen. theyre a messy discord server after the person at the heart of the friend group has disappeared. theyre sextuplets. they have the same DNA. they barely know each other.

i also just like exploring a story about like a family that has been fundamentally altered by the pandemic, and there’s already this hole at the center of the family when our view into their life begins. everybody was, to varying degrees, dancing around to please this one person to whom they all felt they owed their lives. then what do they do when that person is gone but they have to keep the dance going to maintain a sense of normalcy? also, with most families where this is the case, there’s a literal age/wisdom/power gap that can cause people to justify this dance. what about when it’s plainly clear that the person everyone’s dancing around is just as immature, plain, and lost as the people looking up to them?

finally i think it’s a good outlet for like. shitty-young-adulting based dark comedy. a group of very different people bonded by similar motives deciding all at once, without prior discussion, to do something awful. a group of people who have no idea how to be people playing raccoons in a trench coat with the life of someone who is no longer there to copy off of. a group of superficially nearly identical young adults who have no obvious reasons to not be able to coordinate their energy and efforts for their collective good, but they lack the ability to work together to simulate the success level of even one human life, let alone six.

i’m just fascinated by people bonded at the absolute closest level by the very nature of who and what they are, and yet they find each other almost entirely opaque.

i’ll probably describe all of them fairly soon. i kinda want to draw them but then also theyre supposed to be mostly identical lol

nobody understands the inherent energy of being a secret clone/servant of a guy and then that guy dies. this is fascinating to me and nobody gets it. im all alone in my clone world. but thats ok. the clone named “number 7” who is the sixth clone is also all alone in his clone world thinking about being a clone. did you even think about that? of course not. nobody cares about clone number 7 who is the sixth clone. fuck this world
