how do you think Jason felt knowing he looked like Luke Kronos? how do you think this kid, this child who’d been raised to be a soldier, who is so fundamentally good and tries so hard, felt when he realized why the greek campers were uneasy around him.
not because he was roman. the greeks didn’t care about that. but because he was tall. lean. blond hair, blue eyes. facial scar. brotherly disposition.
someone who’d looked just like Jason had been a leader at this Camp. someone who’d looked just like Jason had been a brother here. someone who’d looked just like Jason had taken their trust and shredded it, had turned their siblings against them, had sabotaged their home, had caused so many deaths in his war to destroy Olympus, to be noticed by his father. (something Jason also desperately wants.)
Hera had sent Jason to replace Percy—the leader, the hero. but how was he meant to do that when all any of them could think when they looked at him was traitor?

Jason Grace who wonders why Percy gets his memories back but he doesn't. Why Percy was allowed to grow up with his mother.
But Jason was stolen from his.
Percy gets to grow up surrounded by those who genuinely love him. People who love him enough to search for him when no one looked for Jason.
Percy gets to joke around with his father while Jason has never met Jupiter. The closest he's gotten to him is Zeus who very openly doesn't like Jason.
Percy even gets a sister and Jason loves Thalia but they're basically strangers.
Everything Jason's been told was all a lie. Everyone who's ever loved him was from afar, the only relationship he's ever had was all fake.
But he doesn't say it because he cares about Percy, because he deserves the best. He wants to be happy for him. Jason is at his side, helping him through his trauma of Tartarus.
And feeling horrible for any feelings of jealously and bitterness.
Because Percy's suffering, his life is far from perfect. He's getting the life he deserves. Percy's going to New Rome University. He's got the girl and love of his life.
He's going to live a more peaceful life. And it's everything Jason wants but never will have.
He knows that, he knows that even after leaving Camp Jupiter.
Jason has nothing to lose. His friends will move on and it's not like Camp Jupiter will ever mourn him. No achievements he gets will ever matter.
He realises the true differences between them is that Percy Jackson is human. He's completly and utterly and painfully human.
In all the ways that Jason Grace is not. He's nothing but a tool and a pawn. He will never know peace, he will never know love and care.
Everything about him from his memories to his personality was all manufactured. Jason was made for a purpose, designed to fall at the right moment just like a domino.
And it's time Jason accepts that. It was nice to pretend, just for a year that he was a person who deserved better.
But Jason knows the truth. So he writes his letters, cleans his dorm and leaves without a second word.
"Hey, Percy? Don't ever stop being you. I hope you have fun at New Rome, the welcome party should be a blast."
"I will but you're er starting to freak me out a bit man... You make it sound like you won't be there with me even though I invited you."
"I'm glad, that we got to meet. Maybe we'll meet again some day."

Ok but Jason being treated as a robot by CH though. Like, they found him as a feral wild child and modded thin into a perfect soldier but they use the fact that he’s so perfect to dehumanise him. No one is that perfect, that good at following orders and rules. So Jason isn’t human, so why should he be treated like one? He’s a weapon. Not a person. Why should he be treated well, given constant love and affection as a child?
Alternatively! Jason staying as a feral little wolf boy and of course he’s being dehumanised. They’re using him, using the fact that he’s remorseless, a toddler who’s absolutely terrified but simultaneously so dangerous. Why should they like this feral unroman kid, why should they treat him with respect? He’s a crazy menace? They’re still going to use him, but oh my gods they’re gonna make him feel awful. Make him feel bad that he’s such a bad person, who cares if it’s all he knows and all they’re making him do?
Jason will never be human. Not to them

To the people saying "Jason wouldn't have jumped into tartarus for Piper, like Percy did for Annabeth" as a way to demean him. Jason, plunged into the sky from the grand canyon to catch Piper in the first few pages of the lost hero without even knowing who she was, and without the knowledge that he could fly. so he basically jumped to his death attempting to catch her. In the first few pages of his journey, he didn't mind dying to save Piper, and ironically, that's also what he did in the last few pages of his journey. Y'all just be making the most out of pocket claims abt jason fr

Sometimes Percy forgets he and Jason come from too different worlds.
Percy: Easy Jason, it's alright if you mess up.
Jason: No, it's alright if you mess up. If I mess up I've failed, and I fail I might as well be dead.
Percy: I think you're taking this a bit too far.
Jason: Percy you could trip over your own feet and at least five people would stop to help you up. When you fall people catch you.
Percy: What about you?
Jason: What about me? If I did that I'd be thrown away like a used rag.
Percy: Jase that's not true.
Jason: Your camp would never think to replace you. Your friends would scour the earth and the underworld to find you.
Percy: They didn't look for you?
Jason: No, they replaced me with you. Your camp loves you for who you are. If I'm not the perfect son of Jupiter...Than I might as well not exist at all.
