it was so. unnecessary. to change it. like why would you fix a problem that is not there???
allowing more tyres, or scraping the idea of mandatory number of x types of tyres and allowing crews to solely pick how many sets of each tyres they want. or, if pirelli are really that braindead and want to force drivers to take tyres they don't want to use, at least allow drivers one extra set of fresh tyres for power stage - this alone would be more beneficial than whatever the fuck they are trying to do with new points system.
but also, let's be real, rally1's biggest problem are neither points nor tyres but the clear lack of manufacturers interest in this category due to ungodly costs and the reward is not worth it. honestly, rally2 and rally3 seem to be far more competitive and the rallying to watch (not that we will be able to because rallytv is literally the worst motorsports streaming platform known to man), especially now that toyota has joined the fold.
rally1 has 2.5 manufacturers (because honestly, at this point, ford is only halfway in): hyundai which has FIVE!!! crews, toyota (aka reigning champs) with four crews and ford has two. TWO!!!
for comparison, rally2 has citroen, škoda, hyundai, ford, toyota (and i believe there is one volkswagen entry).
