      Things have changed, and not in the way she would’ve liked. That fucking king has turned the world into a mess, and everybody seems to be fine with it. Balbadd doesn’t even resemble what it used to be, and the loud noise of the airships doesn’t allow her children to sleep at night.

        She hates this, and a part of her had also hated Alibaba for leaving them behind. For dying without putting up a fight. Because she was one of them, Cassim trusted her strength, so how could she simply abandon them?

         A part of her is still angry at the blonde, and will always be. But she’s back, and she’s the only one who can fix this mess. She knows it. And, believe it or not, Zaynab is happy to have her here, to know she’s alive, that she won’t leave again. They need that hope; she needs that hope, the brightness only Ali can give.

        “Sounds to me like a really shitty place.” She mutters, eyes facing the blonde, trying to remain awake. “Ye were gone for a long time…I guess ye being here reminds me of that too. How things used to be. I don’t even know what’s going on in this country anymore.” Her eyebrows furrow, a hand reaching to smack Alibaba’s forehead. “Don’t be stupid, ye can stay all you want. My kids like ye and everything.”

{ please imagine the grown up fog troupe members trying to teach their kids the white flag game. It starts all cute until it becomes hilarious due to their parents being more worked up about it than the kids.

Until one of them accidentally shouts “Cassim catch!” and they become extremely silent before they all burst into laughter but it has something sad because each of them remembers someone else: siblings that used to play with them but died, their parents calling out for them to come back inside after they played too long, friends who didn’t make it. I just realized how bad it is that Alibaba got a Kou-styled funeral, instead of whatever traditions Balbadd had for burying their people. I mean, I’m sure Zaynab and Hassan are so mad about it, because they couldn’t grieve Cassim properly, and now they’re not even allowed to mourn the one person that became their only hope of recovering their country. Because they weren’t there when Alibaba’s funeral was held. And I know some people may say they’re not friends, but Zaynab and Hassan respect Alibaba a lot. He’s their only hope; he reminds them of Cassim, of their old bravery, of why they wanted to fight in the first place. I think they’d be outraged that Alibaba didn’t get a balbaddian funeral.
